Our story begins on board a ship, one that has made a circle across the world picking up aspiring hopefuls from the seas to bring them to the Hunter Exams, a world-famous organization whose roots can be said to extend through all parts of society. Though it is known that few can claim to belong to this distinguished class. And on this sunny day, with Whale Island disappearing into a light blue haze on the horizon, a selection of hopefuls have situated themselves onboard.

A girl with green hair has gone around and admired the ship and the seas, for this journey is new to her and every sight is a wonder and every sound a melody to her. She is not alone, for a young child dressed in green does the same, his home had been Whale Island and now he braved the great unknown. Others roamed this ship, a blond-haired man, who carried a burden upon his shoulders and a lank-limbed who hides his true character, and perhaps others too. They are eventually called into the captain's room where a captain looks over every one of them and asks them a question. For a great storm had slammed into the ship, and the waves had grown to be as large as mountains, throwing the ship up and down on their behemoth frames. And the whirling winds that screamed into the darkness threatened to tear even the sails off, of course, it was brought to a heel.

But all the hopefuls on the ship had been sent down the deck, with crippling sea sickness, save five individuals. So, intrigued by them they were all called into the captain's room.

He'd ask the small boy who introduced himself as Gon, why he was here to become a hunter and upon receiving a satisfactory answer he'd move his gazes to the lanky and blond-haired men. Initially, they refused to answer the same question as before, but upon being warned that they'd be disqualified they told their names, it was Leorio and Kurapika respectfully and both gave their answers.

Next, he moved his sight to the white-haired girl in the room and asked her, "Lass, what's your name, and why are you here for these exams?"

A girl with hair as white as snow, and enough of it to outright make a massive, fluffy rug out of it was among those on the ship. Her giant unkempt rug of hair flew rather freely in the salty sea wind behind her and around her as she simply looked out at the horizon ahead. She had been on this boat for a few days now since Yorknew City was one of the last stops on the round trip around the world to gather hopefuls for the Hunter Exams on the way to Dolle Harbor. If not for the giant weapon she carried on her back that was almost bigger than she is, most would have assumed she was simply a grumpy looking child.

But this girl standing at a mere 4'1" carried a dangerous vibe to her. Every step she made, people within a few feet of her could feel it due to the obscene amount of weight in her boots and due to the heavy sound the made when meeting the floor. Her weapon of choice was a massive Greatsword that was almost 5 feet long in total and had to dangle at a more diagonal angle to fit along her back. But then there was just the passively piercing glare of those almost inhuman sapphire eyes of her's. She kept to herself for the most part, remaining silent if not giving a few sailors grief for picking on their lankier co-worker. Though her outward coldness kept her from really socializing with the young man like the mere boy with green hair to associate with him later on did.

Time went on as the clouds crept upon them from across the sky. The small girl decided to head to inside of the ship and take up one of the hammocks. She took her sword off of her back and placed it up against a wall and then took off her heavy plated boots and remained in her hammock throughout the entire duration of the giant wave of the storm. Her sword and boots did not budge despite the fact they they went completely vertical at one point. When the captain came to check, the white haired girl had remained in her hammock, kicking one of her feet around as she stared off at nothing in particular until brought to the bridge of the ship with the 4 others that the white haired girl was paying little to no mind to at all. The green haired girl especially evaded her gaze throughout this journey.

Gon's answer while simple was at least not something the white haired girl would scoff at. Kurapika's on the other hand had her glancing at the blonde man from the corners of her eyes for a moment as he went on about the devastation of his clan. She understood being driven to a goal but pushing it to the point he implied he would gave off a few red flags. But then came Leorio. His answer was so basic and menial but yet it definitely changed the mood in the room at least.

The captain's attention suddenly falling onto her however was mildly unexpected. She figured she was remaining uninteresting enough, to go last but apparently she was being wrong. Or maybe her perception was wrong....

The white haired girl sighed through her nose as those sapphire orbs locked onto the captain and her deadpan eyes narrowed ever so slightly.

"My name is Emily. I am here to simply get into whatever place has the strongest people I can think of. And for now the world has concluded that it is the Hunter Association. I am interested in power. Not money, not political sway. None of those intangible things. Those things people think of when they think of power can't defend you from anything with REAL power. Might controls everything. Power is the true freedom. No one can take control of your life away if you’re stronger. No one can threaten or control those close to you either because of Power. So I want more. To live as I please no matter what kind of ire it brings, no matter what political or corporate suit monkey's toes it might step on."

Her answer was blunt but in it's own ways rather deep. But it was almost a bit hard to take her seriously...her voice sounded like a mere whisper and the tone itself was like that of a little girl's despite how mature her words were.

"Power, eh? Rather straight to the point, I suppose a lot of men want that." The captain acknowledged Emily's words, he noted them down and that was the end of it.

Leorio shook his head, "Power and revenge? Feh! Worthless, in the end, all you need is money, now that's power. Those corporate monkeys, why they're the ones with true power! Money makes the world go round and now that's true power."

Kurapike's eyes narrowed when he heard, "Be silent." He said, offended at his words, for to make light of his sufferings was anathema to the red eyes bearer. "Money? That's so shallow, it doesn't bring you anything. It's foolish to chase it."

"Eh? Goldylocks here, you probably never even held a dollar bill in your life!" Leorio said to him as he leaned down and glared at Kurapika and so did Kurapika glare back. The two of them had locked themselves into place.

Meanwhile, Sunae and Gon were too embarrassed to speak.

"Money and Corporations won't stop someone from putting a blade through you. Money is no shield against people with physical, tangible power at their finger tips. Money is simply an accessory, a means of getting something you want from a peddler. But money's only as good as the help it can buy when it comes to a fight." Emily commented quietly. Not out of trying to avoid being involved but simply because it seemed innately her voice was insanely quiet. But even then she clearly didn't deem him WORTH having a fight with as some ordinary looking man in some tacky suit obsessed with money and other materialistic things. She clearly had a more ascetic view on things despite the incredibly well made clothing she wore.

Kurapika rather obviously took the most offense and it made Emily roll her eyes and sigh in slight annoyance as she could just FEEL a fight was going to break out between the two individuals. This was not the time for it but at this point she knew these impulsive types well enough to discover that trying to talk them down with logic and words doesn't work. They don't act on a basis of logic and objectivity. It's all about how they FEEL and their own subjective views on things to them. So trying to talk them out of it was pointless and led Emily to then glance over at the green haired girl that had yet to speak with a softer but still just as deadpan stare than the one given to the Captain and in a sense silently asking, "And what about you then?" with her eyes.

"Well take this outside." Leorio said as he pulled out a switch knife and Kurapika nodded, the Kura member saw only one path to resolve this debate. The two of them headed out to face each other on the deck in the thick of the storm.

Sunae looked distraught and she turned to the captain, "It's dangerous, those two would kill each other.' she said protesting as the captain allowed this behaviour.

He shook his head, "Let them, can't have two of the crew at each other throats. They'll let it all out and we wont have to hear about it again." He said, denying Sunae's plea. Meanwhile the young Gon himself had disappeared from the room, he had taken himself outside to see the fight and perhaps act against it.

And on the deck, as the wind buffeted against them and the waves broke over the sides and smashed into them with a vile cold hate, Kurapika and Leorio watched each other. Kurapika had armed himself with nunchucks upon stepping outside and gripped them in his right hand.

But before the two could come to blows the ship shuddered and lurched to the side, as if it had been wrenched by some great entity. Both Kurapika and Leorio nearly fell to their sides.

"What the hell?!?" Leorio exclaimed as he struggled to get his right footing. "Did you do that?' He asked Kurapika, vainly.

"Of course not!" Kurapika said with disbelief, but moments later the both of them got their answer. For a massive water spout broke from the ocean and threatened to tear the sails of the ship clean off the mast.

Instantly the captain had pulled himself free from his room and with the rest of his crew, the ones who worked of course, proceeded to try and pull the sailing down. Of course during this a crew member would be blown off, both Kurapika and Leorio would fail to grab him in time

But a flash of green heralded Gon who unknowingly had seen the crew member be thrown to his death he'd grab the man, but in his rush to save the man, he himself had put himself into peril. It was up to Leorio and Kurapika to grab him and hold him, but they needed another lest they tip over into the wrathful sea.

It seemed for now that questioning Sunae was being put on hold. Between the two men having a falling out already over ideals, Gon following them out and the sudden arrival of a waterspout out on the ocean in front of them prompting the entire crew to try and get the sails put away before the storm could tear the mast away it seemed things were getting derailed...

It only got worse when Kurapika and Leorio failed to catch the crew member that got flung overboard and then Gon jumping off to catch him and then be caught by the previously arguing men.

As the scene unfolded with Gon pulling the man out of the water and holding him by his chest, a white cowlick of hair only slightly blown about by the wind could be seen creeping across the top of the guard rail they hung off of as suddenly two sleeved arms reached up and snatched both Kurapika and Leorio by their arms that were held onto the ship and proceeded to yank all 4 of them back onto the ship. The one to assist them was none other than Emily and her apparently gorilla-esque strength considering how quickly she pulled all 4 back onto the boat. She was simply too short to be seen OVER the rail as she casually strode over to lackadaisically provide her assistance. The sail in the meantime had been retracted but the storm and nearby waterspout was still upon them as in the distance it was spotted that even more and even larger spouts had formed like giant tornadoes of water.

".....this storm is not the least bit natural." Emily commented. Though her voice was almost lost in the howling wind, booming thunder and pouring rain as she squinted slightly out at the distance. "Get all these normals back into the ship. Quickly, I have got a bad feeling about this but none of them are gonna be of any real use if any of what I am feeling comes to fruition." she ordered to the trio of Gon, Leorio and Kurapika. Her voice was slightly raised to a normal person's level but given the amount of strain in her voice it was clear that for her such a volume was an equivalent of outright shouting so she can be heard over the storm around them.

Upon being saved the trio, with the crew member were confronted by Emily who handed out orders to them. But before anything could be said by Leorio, or by Kurapika, Gon spoke.

"Ah! So, sorry, so sorry!" He said embarrassed as he scratched his head, for such a foolhardy act he acted nonchalantly.

"Idiot!" Leorio said suddenly at Gon, "if it wasn't for this girl, we'd have gotten killed! Stupid!" He said to him, he was infuriated by his sudden brush with death and took it out on the kid. Kurapika agreed with him.

"Yes, next time, please think before you do so." He said, his tone was kinder than Leorio's but still carried the undercurrent of disapproval.

Leorio himself turned to Emily, "Er, thank you, Milly was it?" He said to her, he had already forgotten her name, maybe he'd never been listening. "I owe you a solid for that one, but er, what's that about ushering the crew around?" He asked.

Kurapika echoed Leorio's sentiments, "You're saying this storm isn't natural, why?" He asked. But he was given an answer for the ship itself lurched suddenly to the side as if something large had thrown itself into it, the whole object shuddered.

And from the sea several large appendages rose up, they were lined with claws that were each larger than the hand of a man and wickedly sharp. And each appendage was as tall as the mast of the ship itself. Suddenly these appendages threw itself down with so much force onto the deck that the vessel threatened to be crushed.

"It was Emily, not Milly." the small girl retorted at Leorio before turning her to attention to Kurapika. "It's exactly as I said, it ain't natural--" she began to answer as suddenly the ship received that hard knock that knocked most of the crew on it's ass while Emily remained on her feet but was losing balance. "THAT." she announced rather loudly as the appendages rose out of the ocean. It wasn't long before it was also noted that they were now also in the throes of a massive whirlpool with sharp rocks further down in the massive water funnel sticking out the sides of it ready to tear the ship apart once the beast that had them no doubt was finished with shaking the crew off the deck.

"Get these idiots under the deck and get this things limbs off the ship or else we're going under! The ship can probably maintain staying at the rim level of this thing but this thing pulling on us and trying to shake people off of it is gonna get EVERYONE killed!" she ordered. This was clearly not Emily's first rodeo with monsters in the slightest considering that despite her raised voice she was still sounding confident and calm as she brought her Greatsword to bear with a single hand. She held it in a reverse grip despite being something one would only see with a smaller, lighter blade. Her movement while carrying the giant thing was inhuman as she charged right at the first tentacle she could see grabbing the ship. She made a ferocious swing, bringing the blade up from the ground and up into the air as she partially cleaved through the floor of the deck and left a horribly bleeding slash along the tentacle. She made the entire swing in one motion, a single hand and with brutish amounts of force as from there she continued her attacks. Even attempts at defending itself were met with great, shattering power. A crystalline film of skin formed over the section the small girl was attacking and even then she'd crush it and force her blade through. Other appendages ending in chitinous, sharp and spear-like ends would occasionally rise of the whirlpool in an attempt to impale her only to either be deflected away by a mighty horizontal slash or outright dodged as she continued assaulting the appendage that had a grip on the ship from her side of it was sliced off into two seperate pieces.

During all this it was likely that the others got the normal sailors inside the ship and began to work on beating another tentacle that took hold of the ship back. But whenever it would also try to crystallize and defend itself Emily would swoop in and either deliver a devastating blow that forced it to stop and it's muscles to convulse or she'd deflect away blows from the other appendages to ensure it all goes smoothly. Up close the others could all feel the sheer amount of force behind her swings as the wind even in this storm was cleaved and there would be brief respites from the downpour. Compared to her previous, lazy demeanor she was filled with intent and her movements all carried incredible amounts of inhuman strength. The lethargic ice queen from mere minutes ago was gone and now they could see the driven, motivated girl that shined brightest in moments of battle and adversity that she really was when actually in her element. Fighting like this was all she knew, all she was good at. It was where she felt the most comfortable, the most sure of herself and the most in her element.

The crew obliged Emily, or maybe they didn't hear her over the furious winds and the panic of the situation, but whatever the case they had started to take themselves down the deck. Was it wise? It begged the question. But the captain himself had also started attacking the appendages and strangely enough, he seemed to be rather effective at throwing them back.

"Damn it all! I didn't expect to be fighting c-calamari!" Leorio protested as these appendages began flailing everywhere, he feared for his life and didn't want to fight. But seeing both Emily and then Gon run after the appendages and start to attack them surprised him, "H-hey what are those two doing, are they nuts? They'll get killed!"

"Come on!" Kurapika said to Leorio before he ran off to fight the appendages and left Leorio gaping there.

"Oh fine!" Leorio said before he followed after them, "Please God I don't wanna die!"

............

The crystalized tentacles were hit by the greatsword and with a great shattering Emily would strike the flesh underneath, blood welled from the skin and the other tentacles flung themselves into the stormy skies. Before at last enraged, the Kraken threw its clawed crystal appendages at Emily with increasing savage ferocity that'd shake the ship.

Once the second tentacle had taken enough of a beating, Emily signaled to the others to retreat as she would deal a final, powerful slash upon the second tentacle and in turn slice it in two as well. Her style was unexpected for a small girl, she swung around that giant Greatsword that could cleave temporary breaks in the rain with a single hand as if it were a smaller weapon. She leapt into the air so easily despite such a heavy blade in her hand and came down with a powerful downward slash, severing the tentacle and in turn removing it's grip on the ship. It was forced to let go but it had no intention of letting them flee so freely.

Another appendage aimed to attack, the focus of the beast's attention seemingly on Emily now as the attack was pointed directly at her as another appendage came down with the intent to skewer her, only to be deflected again. The force of the clash sent the ship back down towards the sea at a rather high speed as Emily jumped off the ship, intending to take the fight to the monster.

In a small glint of light she could be seen suddenly flying towards another of the tentacles on the trails of a chain that was sent outwards towards the appendage before stabbing into it and pulling herself towards it with a sudden, powerful yank. From there she leapt away from the tentacle she had stabbed with the long reaching blade at the end of the chain and sent herself towards another tentacle that once she landed upon it, she ran along it's length until spotting it was preparing to swat her with another limb like a person trying to swat a mosquito on their arm. She leapt forward again-- another glint of light-- and she landed blade first with her Greatsword and impaled the appendage and avoided getting bludgeoned in the process. The tentacle she stabbed raised itself into the air in an attempt to keep her away from the main body but she would simply slide down the side as her blade left a long, vertical scar across it's surface and causing great amounts of dark red blood to trail behind her going down it's limb.

Her weapon had clearly changed form outright in mere glints of light...an unordinary weapon for an unordinary girl...

The sea swelled and with a great geyser of water, the head of the Kraken broke through the water. Its head was slimy with mucus and large horns hung low from the sides of its face, these horns of it were encrusted with life from the bottom of the sea. With great yellow eyes, it beheld the one who had dealt it pain, the white-haired girl, and with a great roar brought down its wrath upon her.

The creature with its appendages threw them down upon Emily, in an attempt to crush her. These were several appendages, with the claws facing towards her and it was a direct thrust downwards. It was an attack akin to the angry slam of a wrathful man.

With the arrival of the beast above the air, the seas began to swirl around it and threatened to pull the freed boat under. For during the commotion the rest of the group had dealt with the tentacles, including Sunae who had done well for her first time in battle. The captain himself had to focus his energies on not letting the ship be dragged down into the watery depths below. And with this great whirlpool, great outcroppings of rock were exposed from the bottom of the sea, jutting dangerously from the walls of water that surrounded the kraken.

At the center of the whirlpool that the beast had brought her to was a ruin platform in which was previously submerged by the sea and it was there where she would fight the Kraken head on. It seemed it had enough of her meddling already and that it's patience was already thin. Despite what she was being faced with however the small girl did not shrink away in the slightest. She returned her Greatsword to a reverse grip and clasped it tightly in her left hand as she looked up and stared the beast down with a piercing glare.

As those giant skewering tentacles came down upon her, Emily took her blade and made a wide, powerful swing, batting the tentacles away with another deflection. A gush of blood came from each tentacle as a deep slash formed on the chitinous spear-like tentacles as her deflection became also a counter attack. A singular, deep scar that ran across all 4 tentacles that tried to lash down at her to where if one were to line the appendages up in a row in the exact same positions it would form one solid, straight line across all of them. The clash itself made a horribly loud crashing sound as hard bone-like tips met with a seemingly unbreakable steel that could even be heard from the boat as any tentacles still attacking the boat had receded. No doubt to assist the main body as the beast has finally decided that this tiny human required it's full attention. The fact that she even HAD the strength to stop the blows at all was unbelievable for human and monster alike at this moment but to also force the latter to focus on her exclusively and still stand? This small girl with feral white hair was a freak of nature...if even a product of nature itself at all...

While the beast collected it's wits, Emily's eyes quickly dart around their makeshift arena and she quickly spots a segment of spiked rocks sticking out of the whirlpool that were sharper than the others AND close by enough to jump to. She simply needed a chance to make use of it for the idea of how to end this creature that just came to mind...

The kraken's tentacles were laced with one single scar and it roared with rage, as its dumb mind tried to comprehend the sudden pain it felt through its body. The slimy membrane that covered the creature hardened and became a white crystal in an instant, it appeared that the chemicals it produced, in reality, underwent mitosis and that produced its fearsome armor. The creature lumbered over, its feet reached the floor of the ocean bed as it chased after Emily.

Was this her chance to put her plan into action? Whatever idea she concocted would have to be put into action soon. For the creature had collected its wits and had decided then and there to attempt to smash its titanic body into her and kill her in an instant.

The monster's intentions were clear as it began to draw closer and closer to her foothold. The beast had every intention of throwing itself into the platform to destroy it and send her into the whirling ocean below. But rather than panic, the girl was once again quick on her feet as another glint of light occurred at the blade in her hand as both hands became encased in two, massive, metal gauntlets. She threw a fist at the ground beneath her feet and sent herself skyward with the explosive force of the attack, flying high into the sky. She was well above the beast, the sea and the boat itself as a visible shockwave came out of her other gauntlet and sent her rocketing towards the armored Kraken at high speed as she would also spin through the air in various ways, gaining momentum to enhance what would come next as the gauntlet that had launched her was reeled back for an attack.

A devastating shockwave would be unleashed at the moment of impact as it even caused the boat to tip and bow in the sea as a horrible crunching sound could be heard even in the bowels of the ship. A brutal, inhuman punch had been stuck upon the beast and shattered it's crystalline shell as the force of the attack send the small girl back into the air from the recoil of her own blow. But this was all accounted for and she directed herself towards the sharp rocks she had spotted sooner as her gauntlets vanished in another glint of light and the dual wielded set of smaller blades attached to long chains returned to her hands as she threw them both out towards the monster's head. Both struck true into the dazed beast, skewering a weak point she apparently caused at some point in the battle, causing it immense, roaring pain. The small girl could be seen yanking and pulling on the chains that seemed to extend up the sleeves of her oversized coat. She was visibly straining and practically popping every vein in her face as she kept pulling against the resistant monster on the other end of the chains. The fact that she was pulling it closer and closer to the spikes at all was pretty much unreal for all that were witnessing it but once it got just close enough she gave one final pull with every ounce of power she had and brutally impaled the beast upon the jagged stones sticking out of the whirlpool that she was standing on. It was a horribly gruesome and brutal sight as blood went everywhere, including on Emily as other viscera was gored upon the various sharp edges as the entire head was skewered on at least 15 sharp edges. It's death was pretty much guaranteed as it did not even have the time to roar out in pain from it. Several parts of it's brain were on the OUTSIDE now after all.

Alas however Emily had no time to rest, the whirlpool was directly being caused by the power of the Kraken and with it's death she needed to evacuate immediately. In an almost instant she had figured out a way to escape as she used her chain blades to leap from one stone formation to another, getting higher and higher above the collapsing tide as it threatened to snatch her out of the air and pull her under to a point so deep she'd drown before she could ever surface again. After about 5 or so leaps she was almost above sea level as she threw both of the chains out one last time towards the ship. The tide below had been slowly catching up with the quick witted girl the entire way and it was by mere MILLISECONDS that she escaped it's grasp as she made one final yank and launched herself towards the boat as the sea washed over a single one of her plated boots and practically hissing a curse at her as the sound of it having completely resubmerged the stones and ruins trailed behind her. While in mid air she retracted her chain blades and they seemed to disappear from sight in another glint of light. When the people who were still on the deck witnessing the entire thing were probably about to praise their savior, it was apparent to all of them the girl was flying through the air out cold. She had passed out with that last ounce of strength to send herself back to the ship and was now in need of being caught from her descent.

"What the?" Leorio said as he witnessed the Kraken get trounced before his eyes, "I think I took something before now. Yeah, that's gotta be it." The events before his eyes were so surreal he had a hard time believing them to be real and due to the storm itself, it would be easy to think he confused it with the hail of the wind and whatnot.

Kurapika on the otherhand was far more proactive and would forward to catch the falling girl, he'd bark out loud to Leorio, "Come on!" He said outloud. This spurred Leorio into action. Gon himself ran forward and would make himself useful too, he'd leap into the air and catch Emily. But this threw him back down. Fortunately both Sunae, Kurapika and Leorio were there to catch them.

The captain himself waited afar. He ruminated on the fact that this year's Hunters Exam would be interesting with characters like these part of it.

Much later, whereupon Emily was kept in a bunk she'd be greeted by Kurapika, Gon, Leorio and Sunae. Gon was looking down on her and grinned wildly when she woke up, "Wakey wakey! We thought you'd never wake up!" The kid said happily to her as he pulled his head back.

Kurapike echoed his sentiments and looked to Emily, "Yes.. after what you did, we weren't sure whether you were fine or not." The Kura clansman said.

The girl came down like an outright cannonball, practically knocking the wind out of Gon in midair as they both came down on the other 3 at incredible speed. All 5 were sent along the deck in a plume of dust, dirt and a few ripped up planks as they ended on the other side of the ship all in a pile. Emily while out cold had a rather soft look to her face that spelled a night and day difference from her usual "resting bitch face" that she otherwise normally had on.

All of them were a bit sore by the end of it but they were all okay at least and it wasn't anything a bit of sitting or laying down wouldn't fix.

When Emily awoke again the storm had already cleared and she was met with an eyeful of everyone else as she jumped a bit in place. Waking up to a bunch of faces looking at her was not the LEAST BIT normal for her as a person of a more introverted attitude.

She took a deep breath through her nose however as her usual cold, deadpan stare returned to her face and she slowly sat up in the bunk. It was easy to miss before in all the commotion to just get her somewhere to rest, but with the scene having calmed down some and now that her sleeve wasn't covering her entire life arm it was easy to see that her skin on her left arm was a bruised maroon.

Using her left arm to hoist herself up into an upright sitting position caused her to bear and grit her teeth, revealing an outright bear trap of teeth--

Untitled.png

--as she seemed to make a wincing sound under her breath. It was clear it was damaged from something but it was unclear what considering she took no actual hits from the Kraken...

"I assume then that it hasn't for whatever reason somehow survived that impalement and we're in the clear..." she spoke softly as usual with a flat tone. She spoke very briefly on the topic of what she did, said nothing on herself, and made no real attempt to boast or anything. She only really spoke about it at all long enough to confirm the beast STAYED dead after she had passed out.

"Yes, it seems." Kurapika said simply in response to Emily's word, acknowledgement of the deed. He looked uncertain on how to speak, despite his calm attitude it seemed like Leorio he was also at a loss on what to think. How much of the storm and that battle had been their imagination? Had Emily fought the Kraken or had it been a trick of their imagination, he did not know. She herself seemed to believe she killed the beast. And others in the crew said she had handled herself well against the arms of the Kraken.

Gon broke through and grinned at Emily, "Wow!" He said happily, he seemed to believe beyond a shadow of a doubt what Emily had achieved in her battle against the Kraken. "How did you do that?" He asked her excitably, "That was something else!"

"Yeah, I'd say something else." Leorio said as he looked up, he seemed conflicted on this point.

Emily sat there in her bed, blinking at Gon for a few seconds in silence as the gears visibly turned in her brain of how to answer Gon since it seemed she already moved on from the Kraken incident. She didn't doubt her own experience just now in the slightest but she also wasn't any sort of braggart. This modest but incredible girl was unlike other people who would have been boasting and making a celebration out of such a moment. So much so she had no idea what to really reply to the young boy in front of her with and she had no real idea how much of it they saw. Did they see the weapon actually change shapes and functions or was she able to leave that out and give vague answers?

"I'm...not entirely sure how to answer that question. A lot of what I do just feels like second nature now that I don't even remember the intricacies and specifics behind how I do things...I kinda just do it at this point since it's all just so deeply ingrained in every muscle and bone in my body." she began, going silent for a moment and thinking of how to continue. "I spent a number of years now from when I was a kid to now just constantly training myself how to fight and stuff. Large Monsters is nothing new to me....or at least, not entirely new. Can't say I have killed a Kraken before today..." she replied as she absent mindedly reached up with her bruised left arm and scratched the side of her left cheek a bit with her short nails.

Her sleeve fell down a bit and revealed the dark maroon color went up much of her arm and that whatever damage she took was dealt to most of that limb which made Emily jump a bit as she put her hand back down and the sleeve covered it again. From what they DID see though her palm section was the biggest part of her hand while her fingers were actually rather short and a bit stubby but in a rather cute, almost 'chibi' way. And with a good look at her face now she had a very small but completely rounded nose and her chin in it's entirety lacked a real "point" to it and caused an entirely round face and making her out into something of a "moeblob" despite her inhuman strength. Almost every aspect of her so far was disgustingly "cutesy" but she insisted on trying to put up some kind of "tough", ice queen image that was backed up by disproportionate amounts of physical power.

Her answer implied a lot. But the most shocking thing to everyone present was her making it sound like she WASN'T a kid! They found it impossible to believe that some girl barely an inch over 4 feet tall was any older than 10 years old and yet...she was actually going to be an adult in a few years. Unknownst to everyone around her she was actually 15. A prodigal combat genius with little else in her mind but a single-minded pursuit of strength so that she can live a whole life while NEVER being under someone else's thumb and so that whoever she ends up close to never has to either. But she wasn't about to spill THOSE details so freely. No it would more likely take some prodding and effort to pry those secrets from her since it seems she's not one to really talk about herself much. She was such a paradoxical young girl. She had the confidence in herself, her strength and abilities to clash with a Kraken head-on without a single doubt in her mind that she could do it and yet she stayed so quiet about what she had just achieved that it was hard to believe she did it at all considering most people with such strength were far more boisterous about it.

"It's good that you spent all that training then, if it weren't for you we wouldn't be around." Kurapika said thankful to her. The Kura member would then let Leorio speak.

"Yeah, thanks." He said, Leorio didn't feel like acknowledging what she did.

And meanwhile Gon was ecstatic, "Woah! You need to show me how to do that, that was amazing what you did out there." Gon said as he threw some fake punches into the air.

Sunae smiled too, but she was in the same boat as Leorio, she was disturbed and wished to not talk about it.
