Strange.

There really was no better way to describe this situation. Two vampires, two werewolves, and two witches-- in this one house. The house itself was nice; it had two floors and plenty of space for the six of them. Yet still, Laurel couldn't help but feel the tension between the species, even between those of the same species. None of them were exactly "friends", though because of everything going on, they weren't exactly enemies, either.

It was strange.

Currently the blonde was in the kitchen, cleaning up the breakfast dishes. The wolves ate like crazy, and they'd only just arrived. The vampires obviously survived on blood, but from what she understood, they could eat if they wanted. It just didn't do anything for them? It was confusing, and she wasn't sure if it was appropriate to ask. And then, of course, there were the two witches, one of which was Laurel.

As she set the last plate in the drainer to dry, she leaned against the counter, staring out of the window into the backyard. It was getting colder, but the pool they had was still open, though it was dirty. Someone would have to take care of that eventually. Hell, the yard itself could use some TLC.

Laurel was the first to arrive. It had been about a month or so ago now, she supposed, when she pulled up to the house and parked, staring at the large building before getting the nerve to get out of the car. Something was hunting supernatural creatures, and though she hadn't come into contact with it herself, she knew of those who had.

It wasn't something she wanted to run into.

Shivering at the thought, she reached over the counter and fumbled for the blinds, pulling the string to drop them closed. She knew she was probably amongst the more paranoid of the house, but she couldn't help it. Her powers were still out there; she was barely able to control them sometimes. It scared her, but she didn't let it show. Tried not to, anyway. She ended up being a motherly figure: hovering, making sure people ate, and were doing alright.

Maybe it was a little too much.

Turning away from the now closed window, she wiped her hands on her jeans and left the room, ambling aimlessly back into the living room.

[/div][/div][div class=content][div class=scroll1][div class=textbox]Soft pads on the forest floor made its way through the underbush. Her senses as sharp as ever, her tail swaying lightly behind her. Her snout pointing straight ahead as she came to a stop. A whiff of rabbit--then the brown tuft of fur hopped from his den, vulnerable to his surroundings. Her tongue wet her lips, already salivating and thinking of ways to cook the meat. With a swift and powerful leap, Emilia bared her canine fangs and pierced into the hare. The wolf growled in satisfaction. The iron taste filling her mouth and the blood staining the floor.

She was done with her daily patrol around the house. And it was hard to do it with the stench of vampires and witches so close by. She was on her way back to the house already, and the quiet of the forest had her gut saying it was prime time to hunt. It had only been a week since her arrival, and she was no closer to getting used to their scents. Emilia only trusted hers in the forest, and so far she's not picked up any other peculiar ones. The dark force her parents and pack were worried about had not made its appearance and she had second thoughts about going back home during her short stay. But a logical voice at the back of her mind told her that she was taking the situation too lightly.

Readjusting her kill in her jaws, Emilia trotted back her accommodation. Heading to a tree right behind the edge of the forest, she dropped her meal and shifted. Quickly slipping on the clothes she hid, the girl casually strolled back with the fresh kill in her hands, holding it by the ears. Going through the back door, she left the animal on the kitchen counter with a thud. Her nose twitching at the mix of smells. Passing through the living room, Emilia spotted Laurel, one of the witches lounging around.

[div class=dialogue]"I've got dinner in the kitchen. Hope you know how to cook it."[/div] She couldn't help but snicker. She's met plenty of humans that cringed at the sight of a dead animal. It was amusing since they were fine with meat as long as it was ready and chopped up, but not if it's still in one piece. She didn't particularly mind sharing her kill. She's used to sharing with her pack and since they need to coexist in the same house for an indefinite amount of time, Emilia figured it doesn't hurt to share. [div class=dialogue]"Leave it if you don't. I'm heading up to shower and will be back in a few."[/div]

Emilia was sure her new housemate didn't need that information, but at least she can now tell the others it was food and not thrash or some voodoo ingredient. [/div]

Elias ElmwoodBecoming the prey. It was often a mantra that his father had told him that could assist in his hunting when he was growing up, but never in his life would Elias imagined him becoming an actual prey. Becoming the hunted. The solution that his parents came up with, to hide him along with other supernaturals. At least he had Emilia, his cru--best friend. But this didn't ease his worry. Sure he didn't have as much responsibilities here now in the abode. Which Elias was enjoying at the moment with simply having fun. But he couldn't help but wonder about the rest of the pack. Why did his parents send him off? Shouldn't circumstances like this call for the rise of the alphas? Shouldn't he be leading the pack to safety? Shouldn't he be there to protect them?

All these thoughts whirled around his mind as he placed one foot in front of another to continue his run. While Elias usually went out for jogs in his human form, today he felt the need to run in his wolf form. He needed to let off some energy. Really he was tailing Emilia on her patrol but the worries of the pack and tension of the situation with all the other supernaturals was gnawing at him. His head wasn't focused on securing the premises so he decided to run. Where to? Nowhere in particular, but he knew not to stray too far off since there was a target on their heads.

The feel of the uneven ground littered with natural debris crunching under his pawpads stimulated the wolf's senses. Eyes forward as he scanned the land ahead of him so that his pace wouldn't be broken, Elias continued forward. His ears stood straight capturing most of the sounds around him, while making sure to not miss any unusual sounds. With all this stimulation Elias felt alive. He could feel his heart pumping blood throughout his body, and his lungs circulating the air to keep up with his speed. For just some time his mind was focusing on keeping his body functioning as he ran, all thoughts and worries temporarily on halt.

After sprinting a mile and half around the area, Elias finally felt some relief. He steadied his pace into a trot as he returned back to the complex where the supernaturals resided. The building made be known as a home to some, but to him never. Home was with his pack. On his way back, Elias caught a whiff of blood in the air. But before his hackles raised in response to danger, Elias recognized the scent of a rabbit. A small smirk appeared on his wolfish lips when he realized that Emilia must have caught dinner. A slight grumble arose from his stomach when the smell was realized. Despite having eaten breakfast a few hours ago, Elias was hungry already. And the run did not help his case.

Deciding that he should satisfy his stomach before its cries became louder, Elias made his way over to where he placed his clothes for his human form. One time he made the mistake of not bringing anything and was nearly burned alive. So now he decided to bring a pair of shorts each time with him outside. Today he decided to bring with him shorts with mini astronauts printed on them. Smoothly he shifted back into his human form and slipped on the colorful shorts before he made his way over to the building.

Elias stepped in and looked around for Emilia. His eyes caught sight of the hare she left behind in the kitchen and Laurel, "Have you seen Emilia?"

[/div][/div][div class=content][div class=scroll1][div class=textbox]Wiping the condensation off the mirror with a hand, Emilia quickly dried herself and slipped on some clothes. The towel still around her neck as she used an end to dry the wet mop on her head. Dropping her laundry back in the room, she headed back downstairs. Ready to cook the hare she caught. An all too familiar scent got stronger and a smile crept on her lips. At least she was in a house full of strangers with Eli. A smirk tugged at her lips when she saw the male in one of his colourful shorts.

[div class=dialogue]"Better return those shorts where you found them. I'm sure the poor boy would want them back."[/div]

Emilia knew full well that they were probably his, but she couldn't help teasing him about it every time. Even after spending their entire lives around each other, the shorts Elias had never changed and she wondered how he still managed to fit in them. The werewolf took a knife out of the shared block and started skinning the hare, her knife skills were still a little messy, but the skin managed to remain intact, except for the head. The fur would be useful for some mittens in winter. After giving it a quick wash in the sink, she started to gut the kill and chop the rest of it; bones crunching under the heavy swing of the blade.

[div class=dialogue]"Heh, I'd make a pretty good chef wouldn't I?"[/div] She held the bloodied knife close to her face, purposely giving Laurel and Elias a crazed smile and murderous eyes.

Persephone had scoured every single page of this goddamn book, but she couldn’t for the life of her figure out where the hell Stephanie Meyer had gotten the idea that vampires sparkled. She’d stayed up all night, trying to read the rest of Twilight in hopes that there was some sort of clue hidden between the lines. It seemed that perhaps she was going to have to experiment with this hypothesis Meyer was posing to her… Though that did make her wonder, how come Mika and Ferid didn’t sparkle in the sunlight in Owari no Seraph?

Heh heh. Ferid.

Ignoring her crush on the strangely alluring character in her favorite vampire anime, Persephone casually rolled off her bed onto the floor. Maybe she should get dressed and try to find food. Not that there was much to be had here that she actually liked. The blood reserves in the fridge were cold and bland. She stuck her tongue out in disgust thinking about it.

“Ah, well,” she mused, standing up and shuffling around to find clothes. “I suppose I should try to act like I care about living a life in this house.”

By the time she emerged, she was barely wearing anything more than she had, though it was certainly an improvement. Short shorts with a black off-the-shoulder tee and her usual overabundance of eyeliner. You know. Normal vampire attire. Yawning, Persephone trudged downstairs, emerging into the living room where some of the other house inhabitants were. Not caring if she was interrupting something, she glanced at Laurel. “You know the most about humans, right? Any idea why on Earth someone would write a book where vampires sparkle in the sunlight and literally no one except the guy no one listens to has common sense?”

It was about that time that Persephone noticed the smell of blood. She drifted, practically floating, over to the kitchen, peeking inside at the rabbit on the counter. Licking her lips, she said, “It’s not my favorite type, but can whoever’s cooking that rabbit bottle some of the blood for me?” She turned around, smiling at the thought of fresh blood that didn’t come out of a fridge, and she finally took note of Elias’s shorts. “WHOA, where’d you get those shorts? They’re so cool! I wish I had a pair like that!” she exclaimed, bouncing up and down and grinning widely.

Nathaniel Tress
He was awake. Yep. Definitely. Had been for hours. He certainly hadn’t gone downstairs just for food, then returned to his room to sleep. No way.
He did, however, find himself quite suddenly on the floor and not totally sure how he had gotten there, when he distinctly remembered laying on the bed earlier. He picked himself and his blanket up off the floor, fighting the urge to crawl back under the covers and ignore the angry red numbers on the clock that told him that no reasonable person should be asleep right now. He also had to fight the urge to take advantage of the ‘not a person’ loophole.
Instead, he wrapped the blanket around his shoulders and emerged from his room, scowling faintly at the rays of sun that shone freely into the hallway. He bypassed the first bathroom, which was occupied, and shut the door of the second bathroom soundlessly behind him. The blanket took up a temporary residence on the hook on the wall while he splashed cold water on his face and made an attempt at straightening his hair. Two minutes later, with no noticeable improvement to the state of his hair, he materialized in the hallway with the blanket once again around his shoulders.
He padded softly down the stairs, pausing a moment to count the heartbeats, then the voices. He was actually getting pretty accurate at pinpointing the number of people in a room based on heartbeats. At least, he thought so. Jumping down the last few steps, he swept into the common rooms with a swish of his blanket cape. “Roomie.” He nodded to Laurel in the living room. “Roomie.” He nodded to Persephone, also in the living room. “Roomies.” He nodded to Elias and Emilia in the kitchen. Two werewolves, two vampires, one witch. The other magician was missing.

He yawned widely and shuffled further into the kitchen, poking through the drawers for a snack. He wasn’t hungry in the human sort of way, but snacking had become a decent pastime to avoid less human snacking desires. His eyes trailed to the dead rabbit while he poured a glass of orange juice. He had been taught how to control himself around blood, but he could still feel his fangs come out and the rush of white noise filling his head like it always did when his vampie side wanted to take over. He quickly snatched a pack of crackers and moved back into the living room, puffing up his cheeks to cover up the fact that his fangs were out. It took a few seconds, but gulping down the orange juice helped to distract his brain enough so that his fangs receded again. He dropped into an armchair and crossed his legs, pulling the blanket over his lap. “Sooo...” he glanced out the window, “Look at this weather.” He said, looking back at everyone again. It suddenly dawned on him that they were probably having a conversation before he interrupted with a pointless observation about the weather, so he proceeded to shove crackers in his mouth while taking considerable interest in the floor.

Elias ElmwoodJust when he thought his heart was calming down from the run he had returned from, it was soon accelerating once more when his ears received the familiar voice of his friend, Emilia. His eyes looked over to the bottom of the stairway to see the brunette teasing him about his shorts. A slight hurt was felt in his ego when he realized that she must have noticed him shirtless with ripping muscles but only took notice of his shorts. Then again they were some pretty dope shorts. "I know you find me sexy in these shorts," Elias winked. The boy even lowered his tone a bit to convey his words as a joke, but inwardly he was hoping for a bit more.

The werewolf leaned his elbows onto the kitchen counter to watch Emilia skin and cut the rabbit in preparation to cook it. A smile clung onto his lips as he observed her, "Eh I would say mediocre at best." Elias' attention diverted over to Persephone, one of the vampires, when she made her entrance into the conversation. At first her attention was on Laurel then soon on the werewolves when she asked Emilia to spare her the blood from the rabbit. But the werewolf's signature, crooked grin appeared on his face when he heard Persephone taking interest in his shorts. "They're cool aren't they? I got them on a closeout sale in our hometown. I have a drawer full of graphic printed shorts. But these are my favorite pair."

He looked over to Emilia for a short pause in the middle of his conversation, "See someone appreciates my shorts."

Elias returned his attention over to Persephone, "I think I may have a pair that are too small for me though if you want them. It has a floral print on them." As much as he wish he could say his full attention was on the female vampire in front of him, Elias would be lying. In the background as he was talking to Persephone, his eyes were somewhat following the male vampire that had made his entrance. Eventually he settled and attempted to enter into the current social interaction of the group. Although it was somewhat lacking, but Elias found it amusing. "Yup the weather is wonderful outside. We should have a picnic outside today, or some other time!"

Laurel was the type of witch who had to stay busy to stay sane. Rarely was she seen not doing something-- cleaning, straightening, walking around to find something to clean or just do in general. Staying still drove her crazy, and honestly, it made her think and worry about her grandmother.

Although her hearing was nowhere near as acute as a werewolf or a vampires, she picked up on the sound of the back door opening and turned just in time to see one of the werewolves toss a dead rabbit onto the counter. The blonde witch blinked, moving to stand in the doorway between the two rooms, shifting her attention from the bunny to the werewolf.

"I can, actually-" She started to say, before Emilia was speaking again and telling her she was going to shower. Honestly, there wasn't alot that bothered Laurel. She'd seen blood and gore, done spells and potions from innocent to the not so innocent. Despite her powers revolving around darkness, she actually hadn't dabbled too much in super dark magic.

That didn't mean every spell was as naive and pure as a baby doe, though.

Emilia disappeared upstairs, but Laurel wasn't alone for very long. Hearing Elias' voice, Laurel straightened and turned to look at him, her face immediately turning a cute shade of pink at his half nakedness, one of the few things that did affect her. Snapping her head away, she pursed her lips and shook her head, the "nope" that fell from her lips almost a tiny squeak.

It wasn't that she was a prude, just not very experienced when it came to things of that sort. Dating in the witch world wasn't always easy, or fun. "Look at this guy I just turned into a frog" got old after a while.

"So, uh-- how are you?" Laurel pushed herself off the wall and headed back into the living room, grateful for Persephone's sudden appearance. "What?" She questioned the girl, realizing two seconds later the spunky vampires was talking about Twilight. A grin broke out onto Laurel's face, and she simply shrugged, her earlier embarrassment momentarily forgotten.

"Couldn't tell you." Persephone grew distracted by the blood and Elias' shorts, but Laurel purposefully didn't look at him. The male vampire, Nathaniel, appeared a few moments later, making a bland comment on the weather before focusing on the floor. Elias agreed that the weather was nice, and mentioned a picnic.

For some reason, Laurel found that quite amusing. She busted out laughing, flattening her hand against her stomach as she leaned against the wall for support. The wave passed, and her laughs turned into giggles.

Glancing around at the others, she turned pink again. "Sorry." Clearing her throat, she pursed her lips again and reached up to run a hand through her hair.

Persephone’s head whipped around as the other vampire in the house, Nathaniel, walked in. She blinked as he nodded to her with a greeting of “Roomie.” For a second, she wasn’t sure how to respond, but then she realized it was probably one of the nicer greetings she’d received—certainly much nicer than her mother and father’s regal and barf-worthy “daughter” that really only fit with snobby English accents. Eventually, she settled for flashing him a fangy grin. Since they weren’t living with any ignorant humans (that is, humans who didn’t know about them), Persephone allowed her fangs out all the time, though it was certainly harder to control her blood cravings that way.

As she turned back to Laurel to hear her answer about those weird Twilight books, Persephone noticed the other vamp puff out his cheeks. This caused her to smirk. Was he trying to hide the fact that his fangs were out? Cuuuuute. As he passed by, she deftly stole a couple of his crackers. At his comment about the weather, Persephone shrugged. “Good by human standards, maybe. It’s not like I can personally enjoy it. Although I would like to see if I would sparkle in the sunlight…” Munching on a cracker, she gave Laurel a wide-eyed look of surprise. “You think maybe Stephanie Meyer met a vampire who sparkles? Maybe it’s something the vamp world doesn’t talk about—like how humans don’t talk about that Holocaust thing!”

Her attention diverted fully to Elias. “Vampires don’t get nearly as cool clothes! Especially the aristocrats—yuck, they don’t have any taste at all!” She rolled her eyes, covertly not mentioning the fact that she was technically one of those aristocrats. Elias’s attention briefly shifted to his fellow werewolf, pointing out that “someone” appreciated his shorts, which caused Persephone to giggle. She was still smiling as he mentioned having a pair of shorts she could have. “Really?! That’d be great! Thanks!” Oh man, her parents would flip if they saw her wearing shorts like that. She couldn’t wait!

Elias then proceeded to engage Nathaniel in his weather comment, something about a picnic. “If there’s blood involved, I’m in!” she said. After a moment, she added, “Oh, and uh… an umbrella, too. Just in case I don’t sparkle in the sunlight.”

Finally, finally, Persephone noticed something. Elias was not wearing a shirt. How had that escaped her notice? She was usually sharper about these sorts of things (especially when it came to a human-turned-vamp named Ezekiel Crosse, heh heh). To be fair, she had been distracted by the utter awesomeness that were his shorts. Approaching him with her eyes fixed on his torso, Persephone reached out and poked his abdomen. “Is this how all male werewolves dress?” She poked him once more and said, “If we went on a picnic, would this be how you go out?” Tilting her head both ways, she made a hum sound. “Huh. I think I understand why human teenage girls are always so obsessed with werewolves.”

With that, she went to the fridge to get on of the servings of blood that had come with the house. “I still think Ferid’s cuter. Or Guren. Oooooh, or maybe Shinya. Hm.” Persephone mused on this as she sipped her blood like apple juice and went back into the living room. Sitting down on the couch, she yawned and said, “So how do we really plan to spend today? How shall we pretend to not be cooped up in this house?”

Elias ElmwoodIf Elias was in his wolf form at the moment his tail would be swishing from side to side in excitement. The more people joined into the conversation and room, the more energized the boy felt. His hazel eyes glimmered with pure bliss as the interests of his shorts were being met. Persephone even responded with her own enthusiasm to potentially owning her own pair of gorgeous shorts. While Laurel had released a bubble of laughter after Elias had suggested a picnic. At first, he had blurbed out a silly idea to entertain but it appeared as though it was receiving attention. The boy's smile simply continued to widen when the usually shy witch apologized for her burst of laughter, "What'cha sorry about? My awesome picnic idea? Is it that sorry of an idea?" Elias even huffed out a small bit of laughter. Sure it would be unusual to have a picnic of supernaturals, but in the end, they were all individuals stuck in the same situation. Might as well make the best out of it right?

Elias' thoughts were interrupted when he felt the cold touch of someone else's skin on his scorching, hot body. His eyes returned back to the female vampire that he was just talking to. Her attention seemed to finally grasp his half-nakedness. "Hahaha no. Not all werewolves dress like this. I just needed to have a change of clothes with me whenever I change back. I usually forget to bring a whole outfit so I have one or two shorts lying around close to the entrance of the building or somewhere out in the forest. Hmm, I should really check to make sure no one has stolen them. Anyway if we did go on a picnic I would put more on for sure! That is unless it is requested I go like this." He winked at Persephone then stole a sideways glance over to Emilia to watch for her reaction, but he immediately felt his chest subconsciously puff itself out when the boy caught Persephone's remark about his appearance. At least in some form, it was referring to his looks.

"A picnic! C'mon guys let's go outside and enjoy the weather! We have one rabbit ready to be cooked. I can even go out and hunt for some more prey! Just give me like fifteen minutes!" The werewolf was so eager on the idea of having a picnic that he was already turning towards the doorway, a finger on the lining of his shorts, ready to strip them off his body any second now.

[/div][/div][div class=content][div class=scroll1][div class=textbox][div class=dialogue]"Please don't paint me as a pedophile, you narcissist."[/div] Emilia snorted, rolling her eyes at Eli's teasing insinuation. Soon, the kitchen became a gathering as Persephone, Laurel and even Nathaniel entered. The brunette agreed to store the blood for the vamps, taking a blood bag to collect the rabbit's juices. The brunette laughed along every now and then, enjoying the albeit weird company as she leaned against the sink. She took in the high spirits, and continued to reassure the shy witch. [div class=dialogue]"Yeah Laurel, you have nothing to apologise for. And please laugh more to drown out the pup's ego. It's much more pleasant."[/div]

Emilia's eyes narrowed and the corners of her lips lifted into a coy smile at the vamp's and Eli's physical interaction. The fact that he didn't retract his body after an obviously cold touch had toughts running through her head about how he could possibly fancy the blonde. This wasn't new to her after all. A lot of females, weres and humans alike court after Eli like moths to a flame. Sure she'd admit that he was attractive, but she'd never wanted anything more than their friendship. And she believes the same applies to her. She had her fun pushing him towards girls literally and watching the scene unfold.

Eli's excitement suddenly skyrocketed and she herself felt like joining him in another round of hunting. But she knew better than to hunt twice in an afternoon. [div class=dialogue]"Woah woah! Heel boy! We have more than enough meat for everyone. Why don't you set the barbeque pit and we can grill the rabbit? It'll be a picnic barbeque and maybe get to know each other more."[/div][/div]
