Fandom (Hunger Games) The Last Mistake

Seneca is up early the sun is still set as he starts to prepare hurriedly. Hastily scribbling down the rest of the information on the papers he had been working on the night before, Wishing that he had had the brains to finish them beforehand. Once he is done that he hastily gets something to eat hardly having time as he eats it as fast as he can. Before checking his appearance with a small smile shaking his head a little and muttering to himself "this is all madness". He does think it is the truth is that that is what he thinks of it, he has never approved of it all but yet he has had no choice to voice these thoughts, if he ever did he would be dead for sure, without any question. before Readying himself he takes a deep breath, walking out of the room and down the corridor.

He gets to the control room just in time. all the other game makers are already there and sitting waiting talking among themselves. They all look up as he walks in getting quickly to there feet and standing there waiting for his command. He takes a deep breath feeling a knot of dread in his stomach as he nods at them moving further into the room "alright, lets begin"

Adrian made a quick plan as the countdown began, he made eye contact with his newly made alliances: A strong and fast boy from district 2, a short yet aggressive girl from district 3 , and a rather large boy from district 5. He made a signal towards the cornucopia that lay in the middle of the clearing, knowing the only other people who would go for it was district 1 which they could easily overpower. The echoing sound of a canon indicated the beginning of the games, spurring the tributes on to move as quick as possible. Adrian was well prepared and easily gained the lead against everyone else, he never let his vision stray from the axes that hung near the entrance of the cornucopia since he knew his teammates would be not far behind.

He grabbed the weapons quickly, moving towards the entrance to guard as his teammates reached him. Despite their lead, that didn't deter district 1 from ambling towards the entrance. Within 10 minutes the group were the only ones left in the clearing, the boy from district 1 laying near the entrance dead, his teammates having gotten away as they chose not to try enter like him. A small pit of dread formed in his stomach as his actions were starting to make the way to the forefront of his mind. The only thing that eased the guilt of being a murder was the fact he had spared his fellow district member, covering for the small girl as he grabbed a bag and haded towards the woods.

Seneca looks up at the screen, his eyes fixed onto it. This would no dought be a tough year, not that others weren't but this year he had actually got to know one of the tributes, he had always thought that the whole think was wrong and should be stopped, but in other years he had hardly seen let alone known any of the tributes, he had seen them in training for about ten minutes collectively but apart from that. It had always been a lot easier since he did not know them and could....well try and turn a blind eye. With the thought that he could do nothing for them and if he did it would affect his position and possibly cost him his life. That was usually enough to hold him back but this year he has a over abundant feeling that he wants to do something more to help, rather than just watch them all die.

All the gamemakers around him are sitting at the circular screen topped tables, heads down and working all the while glancing round at the large screens that cover the walls and desk tops. There is a large projection of the map of the arena in the circular middle of the desks. There are small dots moving about the map that have the tribute numbers above them. As the countdown ends they are all grouped up in the middle. His eyes drift from that up onto the screens to watch what is happening. He cant help but let out a small sigh of relief seeing him get through the original bloodbath.

The sun began to set as the small group made their way back from finding food and water, having only ran into the girl from district 11 but his teammates quickly sorted that problem. The small group settled around a fire at the mouth of the building, watching as a projection lit up the sky. Adrian counted each fallen tribute, noting that a few of them happened by his own hands at the very beginning. As the night went on, they each took turns sleeping and keeping guard.

They walked through the forrest, Adrian stopping to set traps as he went hoping to catch some game. Shouts could be heard close by halting the groups movement. "Who'd you think that is?" District 5 mumbled to him quietly. He shrugged and ducked behind a tree as 3 people came into view a small distance away.

Seneca stays where he is watching the screens. He sighs a little bit glancing round. there seems to be a bit less weight on his chest ,and the feel of increased anxiety and worry in his body has lessened a fair bit. He supposes that it is given that he has seen Adrian survive the main bloodbath and make some allies. After all he to be true to himself had been worried but with good reason to be. Lots of tributes did not make it past the first fight.

He spends the time , moving around the room giving instructions to different game makers, such as what tributes to focus on and show. there is not much going on but to be fair there was offen not much that happened o the first day, The tributes he could see by there trackers, were all spread out across the arena, Shaking his head he moves over to a gamemaker by his side saying with a small sigh "try and bring some of them together"

Adrian held his breath, trying to decide what to do with what little time he had. The group was coming closer by the second, causing the short girl next to him to subconsciously take a step back, snapping a twig in the process. Each groups reaction was immediate, the girl from district 6 pulling out her bow and arrow as Adrian grabbed an axe from his belt. Adrian threw his axe, not waiting around as the sharp object lodged itself between her shoulder and neck. He sprinted away, trying to catch up with the rest of his group as they were chased, stumbling only when a small throwing knife skimmed against the side of his head.

The young man ignored the pain and trickling blood as he signalled for the rest of the group to follow him. They each climbed the nearest tree, waiting with baited breath as the heavy pounding of footsteps got closer and closer.

Seneca watches as the gamemaker nod and smiles, turning to his desk he does something too the screen. But seneca turns away with a small sigh shaking his head, he does not want to do this the more it goes on, the more he starts to question why he does what he does, shouldent he just do something to help them and face his own fate. snow had already taken everything from him so what could he take now apart from his own life that in these times that could be a comfort to him.

Turning round he watches the events playing out infront of him, and the fight that follows, holding back a curse as he sees the knife skim his head. But it dosent look like it could be fatal so that was a good thing and they were up a tree so it would be harder to reach them.

Luck was not on their side however, the group was most likely anticipating Adrian to use his tree climbing skills. The group stopped between the trees, looking up and finding his teammates. Adrian noticed the bow in the hand of the male from district 6, the girl no longer with them. Adrian shuffled around as quiet as possible, staying out of their range of sight. The new position found him looking over at his teammate from district 5, the burly boy stood out against the tree making him an easy target for their enemies. Adrian sucked in a sharp breath as the arrow struck the other boy, causing him to tumble from the tree.

The group seemed accomplished by this, spreading out to look for the rest of them. Adrian kept a close eye on the group below, expertly making his way over to where his remaining teammates stood within the foliage. He sat down against the branch, holding his pounding head softly as he waited out the group.

Seneca looks at the screen, a feel of dread comming over him, it feels like a knot is forming in his stomach as he stands there. He had been to quick to be happy that he had survived so far, seeming to have got himself too convinced that he would be out of danger from now on. When he is really still in the hunger games and still in the deepest danger, especially now of all times with the group waiting for him still on the ground.

But a small grin curves onto his lips as a gamemaker turns to look at him speaking "sir they are nearing the pods, the ones on the ground i mean, they are just a few steps away from standing and activating them", The man smiles nodding, he had made sure to add these in this year knowing that they would be useful, they were triggered when stepped on and could relise anything from fire, muts, nets to contain the tributes on the ground or they could even explode, it varied from place to place. It could well be the thing if they work in his favour to help Adrian out, Seneca looks over at the gamemaker who is watching him and nods "go ahead"

Adrians small group was startled to attention as a loud explosion ripped through the ground letting out a deafening boom. The noise did nothing to help Adrians head, the ringing in his ears disorientating him for a moment. He was shaken out of his trance by his teammate, yelling in agony as she was hit by a small bit of fire that strayed from the explosion below. With shaking limbs, Adrian climbed through the trees, reaching the ground quickly and running away from the explosion and supporting his teammate as he went.

The sky was slowly getting darker as the wind whipped against their faces. Once they were far away enough the now smaller group spread out trying to find the traps with they hope held game for their aching stomachs. The sat in a small clearing the fire in front of them giving off a pleasant heat as the boy from district 2 worked on dressing the girl and Adrians wounds with whatever supplies he could. Like every other night, the projection lit the sky showing all fallen members and Adrian fell into a restless sleep.

Seneca looks at the screen that is showing them, "turn the camera to them now" he speaks to a game maker who gives a small hurried nod, turning and next second he is watching the footage on the main screen that shows what the rest of panem was seeing at that moment. The picture is slightly sharper, and there is about ten seconds of delay time so they could edit anything if they needed to. it does not happen often but sometimes if tributes are talking about there districts and what they are like they have too.

Smiling a little he sees the explosion rip through the air. The people on the ground could not have survived that there was no chance that they could have. it had been the only choice he had had to help him, otherwise they all would have been killed. Shaking his head as he watches them on the screen with a deep breath. He had not meant to hurt the others who he was traveling with, but they seemed to be alright with no clearly fatal wounds.

The next day found the group slowly making their way through the forest in search of water. They were slowed due to 3's injury as she limped, taking turns leaning on either boy.

Adrian Filled the flasks with water before sitting on a rock and gently cleaning his wounded head, noticing the other two doing the same to 3's leg. With all the fighting it would be rather unfortunate if they met their demise due to an infection. He sat on the rock, enjoying the sun and the rare moment of calm stillness. The boy allowed himself to think of Senaca and his words of encouragement, a small smile falling upon his lips. He had a chance since his biggest competition was gone and he had no worries about betrayal, they all knew he was the strongest and 3 was injured so there was no use in trying to betray him. Hopefully, they could have one day of calmness.

The next day finds seneca in the same place, he had got merly a few hours sleep. he had planned not too but the others had insisted that he sleep and thet they had it covered, so he had done so.

He is leaned against the railing of the platform that looks over the room, his eyes fixed on the screen as he sighs a little bit. He has been watching the events unfold for the last few hours since he returned to see what has been going on. Nothing has really happened so far and he knows that the audience will soon be getting bored with that lack of entertainment going on. He will have to make something happen if it does not soon and that is something that he does not wnat to. It could affect the entire rest of the games and weaken the chanced for each tribute.

Despite his relaxed state, the young boy was careful to stay vigilant. A faint rustling in the trees across from him pulled him away from his thoughts. He quickly signed for the other two to begin moving towards the trees on their side of the bank. Adrian being further away managed to make it to the trees unnoticed, groaning softly as two girls emerged from the trees one wielding what looked to be a trident. His teammates where too far away from him for Adrian to be any help.

He ran through the trees trying to get close without being seen, running up a tree and looking down to see a fight had begun. A grimace made way to his face when he heard the scream from 3's mouth, conforming that he was now another partner down. The girl began to turn towards where his remaining teammate was fighting with the other, each wielding a knife. Without hesitating, Adrian threw his axe his aim perfectly getting hitting between her shoulder blades. He climbed down the tree, meeting his last teammate at the bottom who now held the trident and Adrian's Axe. He smiled gratefully before they set off through the woods, trying to find their way back to the cornucopia.

Seneca moves a little bit round the side of the rom, trying to get a better veiw of the screen with a small sigh. He is not really paying attention, his thoughts are elsewhere there is not much going on that captures his interests. Normally there would be but this year there seems to not be, he is not sure what has changed this time but he is guessing that it has something to do with having someone that he cares a bit about in the games.

Looking up being drawn to a noise of scuffling from the screen. He sees the fight that it happening and straightens a little bit. He is just deciding if he should do something to help, when he throws the axe that hits the girl. Letting out a small sigh he resumes his previous position.

The duo trekked through the woods, having foregone their earlier plan knowing that people would haven taken over the cornucopia and now as a pair they weren't feeling as confident. As they walked in silence both boys minds were running, neither could free their thoughts from the earlier attack. Adrian looked over at the other boy, noticing a large bruise forming around his neck from his earlier fight.

He was unsure how to feel at this point. On one hand he was thankful that he still had someone to watch his back but as the games progressed, less and less tributes remained and Adrien wasn't sure if he could kill his teammate if the time came. During the time here, they hadn't said much to each other but a small bond had formed as expected when you fight for your life side by side. Adrians steps faltered as he looked around. He knew a lot about Forrests and how trees grew but this was extremely unnatural, they were too close together and from what he could see they begun to get tighter in the distance. A feeling of dread filled his gut having a feeling they shouldn't be here.

Seneca keeps his eyes trained on the screen, watching there movements with a deep breath, until the image on the screen is changed does his train of thought break. He staraightens up a little bit shaking his head with a deep breath. He looks round, His hope had been restored a little bit more now, after all he had now shown that he was able to defend himself more than once and that is the most promising sign of all. Also the fact he had made a team helped the others and seemed to know how to survive on his own, he had shown that by keeping his partners wound clean and at least trying to help her.

Seneca stays watching and guiding the others, he is in the room for most of the time, others he was in his office trying to add things to the games, and to also count up the odds that were against each tribute that remained. He is standing watching the screens all arround with a small sigh. He knows that he will have to do something to narrow the feild down even more, after all the remaining tributes were all on seperate sides of the arena.

The ground began to tremble slightly, making the other boy freeze mid-step. Suddenly a large ball of fire tore through the trees landing close by, engulfing the area in red flames. His teammate reacted faster than he did, running past him as another flaming ball came. Adrian began to run, stumbling over the large amount of tree roots. The ground violently shook as a tree fell covered in flames, separating the two tributes and knocking Adrian to the mudded ground.

Before he could move a ball of fire came from his side, landing next to him and forcing an excruciating amount of pain to swell up his left side. He let out a loud yell and with shaking limbs tried to propel himself up and forwards. The movement caused him to slide down a long slope of mud as he narrowly avoided another ball of flames. Adrian managed to run towards his teammate before slowly collapsing to the ground before him, the pain having knocked him out. The boy briefly awoke to the feeling of jerky movements, feeling himself be placed on the floor inside what looked to be a cave before he slipped into unconsciousness again.

Seneca takes a deep breath as he moves down into the room. Looking over at one of the gamekemakers with a deep breath he nods a little bit "alright, bring them together, i would start a disater near them and try and draw them all out towards the middle". There is instantly a lot more movements as more gamemakers start to work, the action had seemed to die down a lot since the start but now the atmosphere seems tense, and everyone is working and alert.

Watching with a deep breath as the fire starts to close in on them. His eyes widen a little bit as he sees Adrian be hit with a ball of fire making him let out a sharp intake of breath. Watching as he falls down a slope he takes a deep breath. He sees a gamemaker about to send a ball of fire right at adrian, it would hit and kill him there is no doubt about that, His mind is racing as he makes a split second decision and holds out his hand "stop, thats enough "

When Adrian wakes hes unsure of how long it had been since the incident but the sharp pain up his side tells him it hasnt been long. He listens attentively as 2 tells him how many are left, including the tribute he killed and was able to scavenge some bandages from.

Adrian glanced down to the how much damage occurred. His thigh, abdomen and bicep was tightly wrapped in bandage tinted with small splatterings of blood. The pair ate a freshly cooked squirrel each as they talked. Both freezing instantly as a loud voice echoed through the forest. Despite the circumstances Adrian felt a small smile form as he recognised the voice as Seneca. Something he needed would most likely be some sort of medicine but would the risk be worth it?

Seneca takes a deep breath as he watches what is happening. The game maker seems to have frozen as he looks round at him but, after a minute he removes his hand from the screen and smiles a little nodding. “yes sir”. Letting out a small sigh he shakes his head, knowing full well that he should have done that in a different way, it sounded to suspicious, some of the game makers are glancing at him while they work. He knows that they are starting to suspect him of favouritism, this is just what he needed right now he is already in enough trouble for that matter.

Shaking it off he shakes his head and resumes his watching of the screen, when he sees him wake it makes him wince a little bit, the wound even though it was all bandaged up, it looked nasty, that he had to admit there was no other chance it was bad, without proper medicine for that it could easily become fatal. Moving round to another game maker he sighs “can you organise a feast for them, but instead of food its something that each of them need badly”. The game maker looks taken aback but gives a small nod “yes of course sir” and he starts to work again eyes fixed down on his screen.

Despite his condition, Adrian refused to let his teammate leave without him even if it was only to find shelter closer to the centre. They moved slowly through the forest, Adrian's breathing was laboured yet he refused to let his teammate go alone for his sake.

Adrian waited, shielded by bushes. He had been sitting there for what feels like forever, not knowing if his teammate would make it. A sudden sound of footsteps made him grab an axe, suddenly thankful that his dominant hand wasnt injured. He sighed loudly, smiling up at his teammate who was holding two small bags each with their district number.

They made their way back to their cave, Adrian taking note of the large wound on the others face. His teammate tended to his wounds before covering them again making Adrian instantly begin to feel better. Adrian demanded that his teammate use some of the medicine to tend to his own wound since 2 also insisted that they share the warm bowl of soup between them.

Seneca takes a deep breath as the gamekaker nods. Watching as he starts to work on the screen makes him sigh a little bit shaking his head with a deep breath and looking round the room, he has a sorta sense of dread in his stomach, the thought that he might have messed everything up.

Moving away he heads out of the room and down the corridor. Knowing that he will now have to announce it to the tributes. He wastes no time in announcing it too the tributes while the other gamemakers set up what he had asked them all to do and set up the feast.

When he returns he is pleased to see that adrian and his team mate have already secured the bags for the district. It makes him smile a little bit knowing that now he will at least ahve a better chance of survival.

After a full nigh of sleep the medication seems to have worked miracles, the pain was hardly noticeable and the wounds healed leaning only dark marks behind. The boys knew they would have to do something soon if they wanted the games to end. The spent a good few hours trying to make a plan, it seemed that after the second blood bath that only 3 other tributes remained besides them. The end was near but neither brought up what would happen if they were the last two tributes.

They made their way to the centre of the venue, staying behind the lines of trees. Two tributes were walking around the outside of the cornucopia, the third wasn't part of their team so they were no where to be seen. Adrian gazed across from where they stood, seeing the branches shake slightly. 'that'll be the third' He thought to himself. The games would end today, but will he walk out alive was the question.

Seneca takes a deep breath as he watches, He stays in the room watching the screens. He feels glad that his wounds do seem to be healing and should get compleatly better if he does survive. Although the chances and odds are now looking like they are a lot more in his favour than a the start.

He slowly stops focusing on just him with a hint of regret. He does not want to but he knows that people are already starting to suspet him. Even though it is getting a lot quieter inside the arena, where he is it is getting even more tense as well. There seems to be a suspence in the air suddenly, wherever you went it was there, the people know that they are getting near the end of the games and that is something that just makes the whole thing feel a lot worse.
