Serena smiled slightly and shook her head. "That's very kind of you," she replied as she felt a kiss on her head. She wrapped her arms around him as well and laid there for a moment with him.

"I know I loved it," she said as she looked up at him, "I remember that I was happy to help people get out from under the weight of the Capitol. I don't know what happened but that just...sounds like it causes pain. But I know I did it for my mother, because I know my mother would have done it if she were in my shoes. It made me feel closer to her. Connected almost."
~
Gale blushed slightly and shook his head. "Oh god don't even joke about that please," he said before smirking, "O my gosh you want to get kissed by Cato!" He was teasing of course but he was going to have a good time with this. He enjoyed giving her trouble because he knew she'd give it right back to him.

"Of course how did I not see it. All this time I thought Cato was transforming into a version of him but it was really you all along. You're too clever for me" he teased before shaking his head and getting up, "Gosh I should have seen it coming. I knew you had your tricks but I didn't think it was this bad. I should go tell him and Serena now that you want to be with him and not me. Oh gosh Serena will be crushed."

Alice cringed, and made a face when Gale started joking that she wanted to kiss Cato "Oh god..." she whined, crossing her arms over her stomach "God, don't say that...just the thought makes me sick" she groaned, closing her eyes as she shook her head. Though honestly, she wasn't joking, she did feel nausea. Either from the thought of kissing Cato, or whatever other reason, she did feel sick.

Cringing as she shifted to sit up a bit more, she felt a pain in her stomach "ah....okay, not joking. I actually feel sick" she grumbled as she put a hand over her face. She didn't think it was anything serious really though, probably just from her weak body and system right now and....oh. The food. Maybe she should have listened to the nurse.

~

Cato listened to Serena as she seemed to recall how happy it made her, helping people just like her - and those different from her too, like himself. He smiled as he watched her face as she seemed to get a bit lost in thought, recalling how happy she was, and then commenting about her mother and how it made her feel more connected to her.

Smiling, he nodded his head "I may not know your mother...but from what I gather I think she would be incredibly proud of you. For what you've been trying to do...what you have accomplished. And everything more that you will do. I can tell, any sane mother would be incredibly proud of what you have done. Well, and of course for choosing a guy like me" he winked a bit playfully at her.

Serena smiled and shook her head. "Oh I don't know. My mother would have been quite tough on you. She probably would have scared you off. She was quite a strong woman; she had to be since my father left us behind. She was both my mother and father, and trust me when I say she took both roles very seriously," she explained.

She kissed him gently. "I would have to beg her not to send you away, and beg her I would. I would tell her that I've never met a man like you in my life and I know in District 8 I never would have," she said with a smile, "maybe after I begged her enough she'd let you stay with me."
~
Gale smirked slightly at her reaction. There! Maybe now she would think twice about messing with him. He tilted his head slightly when she actually repeated it again. He bit his lip and quickly got a washcloth and dipped it in cool water before dabbing her forehead.

"Next time I'll no better than to bring up his name," he said with a shake of his head, "then again I don't know what other reaction I would have expected." He put the cloth on her neck before sitting back down. "Are you alright?" he said gently.

Alice wasn't quite prepared for the sudden ill feeling that came over her. She guessed that part of it was because she honestly enjoyed Gale so much and his presence distracted her enough away to forget the fact that she was even laying in a medic bed. She honestly had forgotten that she was ill and physically damaged, needing to recover and heal still. Though now with the nausea she was remembering all of that clearly.

Feeling the cold cloth on her forehead and neck, she let out a soft sigh of relief, as it helped her feel a lot better. As he mentioned not bringing up Cato's name, she laughed a bit breathlessly as she kept her eyes closed for the moment "Yeah. Look at you, causing me to get all sick. I told you, you're too mean to me" she said, still cracking jokes and teasing him even when she felt sick. Opening her eyes, she smiled softly at him "I'll be alright, don't be such a worry wort. You'll get wrinkles, and we all know that you could use all the help you could get from getting any uglier" she teased him.

~

Cato chuckled a bit as she spoke about her mother, and said how she would just scare him off, he rolled his eyes with a grin "Oh please" he huffed with a confident smirk "Honestly, I'd probably have to struggle over your mother wanting to steal me away from you" he grinned mischievously at her. He did believe her when she said her mother was a strong woman. He didn't doubt that for a second, knowing the strong type of woman that Serena herself was.

He just shook his head in amusement as she spoke of needing to beg her mom to let her stay with him, and not send him running off "Please, no one would be able to scare me. Especially not away from you" he said as he kissed her softly "Nothing, not Snow, the capitol, your mother, and not your brothers could ever get me to stay away from you. I'm in far to deep to leave you now" he smirked, kissing her once more.

"Oh please," she scoffed as she picked her head up, "My mother would never fall for someone like you. Though I will admit you're incredibly handsome, my mother and you would clash heads far too much because she's more stubborn than you are." She smiled slightly when he spoke about how nothing could scare him away from her. "I think you underestimate my moth...," she started before there was a loud crash outside the door.

There was shouting but it didn't sound violent. It just sounded like someone wasn't supposed to be where they were. Suddenly the door burst open and Coin walked in. "Madam President I don't think...," but Coin walked by her and over to Serena. Serena watched her every move very carefully. "It's a pleasure to have you back, Serena," Coin began but as soon as she began talking Serena leapt at her, tackling her to the ground.
~
He let out a sight of relief when he heard Alice start to relax a bit. He had been worried that he actually would make her sick. "Well I'm not as smart as you are Alice," he replied, "It takes me a while to learn my lesson." He let out a small laugh before shaking his head. "But lesson learned: no more comparing you to Cato."

He rolled his eyes when she commented that he worried too much. "I have to worry a lot because you're too stubborn for your own good," he replied with a shake of his head, "You are fully aware of that right?"

Alice laughed lightly at his comment of definitely not comparing her to Cato anymore, because of how she quite literally just started feeling sick. Of course, they both knew that it wasn't actually because of Cato that she got sick, but that it just seemed to have impeccable timing of all things. She knew Gale knew that though, and she wasn't going to mention it though, since hey, if it kept her from being compared to Cato, she'd use it.

Hearing him say he had to worry, she couldn't help but smile a bit. He was honestly probably right there. Without someone to worry enough and keep an eye on her, she'd probably get herself into a lot of trouble by herself. When he asked her that though, she just grinned a bit, looking to him "I don't think I could even try to joke about not knowing it" she admitted with a smile.

~

Cato laughed as she argued how stubborn her mother was and if anything they would butt heads a lot "She sounds like a pretty good match" he joked lightly "Who knows, maybe I'd fall for your mother" he winked playfully, obviously joking. He could tell she was lightening up a bit and relaxing the more time she spent with him, and the more he joked with her with his usual sarcasm as well as arrogance.

When Coin came in that seemed to change though. When he first heard the yelling, he frowned as he looked in the direction of the door as it burst open, and he quickly stood up protectively of Serena. He didn't think that Coin was the one who was about to be needing protection. When Serena lunged at her and tackled her to the ground, Cato's eyes widened as he quickly reacted, grabbing his girlfriend as he pulled her off - thankfully he was a lot stronger than her, physically "Serena! Serena calm down, calm down it's me" he struggled to get her to calm down, and he glanced over at coin, glaring at her, but let the others take care of her while Cato turned Serena so her back was to Coin, and she couldn't see her "Shhh, it's okay, just look at me, alright? It's just me..." he tried to calm her down, since the sight of Coin seemed to trigger something, so he kept her from focusing on her.

Serena moved quickly and managed to choke Coin for a few moments but Cato moved quickly as well. She felt herself being pulled away from the President though she fought desperately to get away from him. She struggled as Cato turned her to him and tried to reason with her but eventually she managed to get the upper hand. She punched him in the stomach and then in the face before making another move on Coin.

The orderlies rushed in as Serena was choking Coin for the second time and had to shoot her with a stun gun to be able to pull her off. She screamed out when the shot hit her but fell limp after a moment. One nurse ran over to Cato while the others went to Coin to assess the damage.
~
Gale smiled gently before kissing the top of her head. "Well I'm glad we're finally on the same page," he said with a smirk before leaning back in his chair, "It's odd. Every time I relax I start to stress again because all I think about is you trying to do something that you shouldn't be."

He paused though before sitting up. He still had something he needed to tell her. "Alice I know when you get out of the hospital again you'll go back to work," he started before sighing, "If it's all the same to you...I'd like to um...I'd like to get my job switched so that I can go with you on missions and such." He paused for a few moments before speaking up again. "What do you think about that?" he asked.

She smiled a bit and shrugged her shoulders "Come on, you know you can't get enough of my stubbornness. What would you have to worry over without it?" she teased with a smile, before he commented on being unable to really relax because of how stubborn she was and was likely to do something again that she shouldn't. Rolling her eyes, she smiled "Well, I wouldn't want to be the cause of your stress. I promise, I'll listen and not do anything I shouldn't. For now, anyways" she smirked.

As he sat up and spoke about something else, she looked to him curiously, since his joking seemed to be gone and he was serious for a moment. She listened to him struggle through his words a bit, before eventually checking with her what she thought about him switching jobs to hers. She was a bit surprised, but then just smiled a bit "Well....you wouldn't really be able to keep up that promise about not letting me out of your sights ever again if you didn't, now would you?"

~

Cato tried reasoning with Serena once she had gotten her off of Coin and away from her. He thought that things had been going so well between them, with him helping her and her seeming to get back to normal around him. So he thought that he might be able to calm her back down and get her to relax. Perhaps that was his mistake, as he let his guard down more than he would anyone else, as he tried to reason with Serena and calm her.

Out of nowhere though, he felt a strong hit to his gut, and he gasped out as the wind was knocked out of him and he coughed out a bit, falling to his knees on the floor with an arm around his stomach. He glanced back up to try and call out for her to stop, but in a flash, her she was shot to be stunned, and she fell limp to the ground, and that was painful enough to see, gritting his teeth. He wanted to argue they didn't have to be so harsh but....they did, and he knew it. When a nurse came to his side, he shoved them away "I'm fine!" he snapped harshly.

Serena collapsed onto the floor before the nurses took her and put her back in her bed. They put the restraints back on her before the doctors got to work on her. The nurse took a step back from Cato before she looked at Serena. "I'm...going to have to ask you to leave," she said gently, "They need to work on her without any distractions."

A few nurses helped Coin out of the room and took her to the medical bay so they could begin to assess her as it was clear that she was having trouble breathing. Meanwhile, the young woman carefully escorted Cato out. "We believe that was a triggered reaction. The Capitol has ways of influencing a person's mind using tracker jackers. That way when she's introduced to a certain stimuli, her frontal cortex which is...used in decision making, personality traits, and things like that, is essentially taken over so that she is no longer in control and she will do things that she wouldn't normally do," she explained to him, "But we won't know anything until we've run some tests."
~
Gale smiled slightly and shook his head. "No I guess not but I can eliminate a lot of the time that I'm not with you," he said gently as he took her hand, "Besides that's probably for the best, knowing all the trouble you get in when I'm not here." He kissed her cheek before taking the wash cloth off of her neck as he figured it wasn't that cold anymore. He ringed it out in the sink before placing it on the side.

"So what do you think about that?" he asked with a slight smile. He really did really want to be with her all the time but that wasn't rational thinking, but at the very least, he could eliminate the time he had without her. "I mean I think it's pretty...," he started but paused when he saw President Coin being wheeled past them to a few rooms over. He looked at Alice before getting up and going to see what was happening. One of the nurses told him what happened before asking him to go back to his own room. He looked at Coin for a few more second before going and telling Alice the news.

She smiled a bit as he spoke of how he could stay with her as much as possible. She wouldn't mind of course, and she would enjoy working with him a lot too. When he commented how she needed it with all the trouble she got into though she just rolled her eyes "Oh please. If anything having you around with make my job harder because I'll have to keep an eye on you" she smirked with a smile.

As he kissed her cheek and asked her again what she thought though, she nodded her head "I wouldn't mind at all. So long as you can get the approval for it and everything. But, I really would like having you there" she said with a smile, before she also noticed Coin being wheeled down the hall. She shared a glance with Gale, before nodding to him to let him go, and he soon came back explaining what had happened "Oh..." she mumbled softly, frowning "I hope Serena gets better soon..." she sighed softly.

~

Cato hadn't necessarily meant to snap at the nurse who was only trying to help him, but at the same time he didn't care. It was a rather emotional state he was in right now...Serena act out so violently and uncharacteristically, him being unable to do anything to calm or stop her, and watching her get shot and collapse to the ground. Hearing the nurse tell him he needed to leave, he sighed heavily. He didn't want to, but knew he didn't have much of a choice and reluctantly nodded his head as he got up from the floor.

As he left the room, he listened to the nurse explain to him what was going on with Serena and what they believed was happening, and why she acted out as she had. He frowned a bit, and clenched his fists. He was really going to beat the shit out of Snow when he next saw him, for screwing up Serena's head like that....he didn't care how many peacekeepers he had to fight through to get to him.

The nurse sighed lightly and shook her head. "We can fix her though and it will make it easier now that we know what is influencing her mind, but I must ask you to be careful around her. Often times the Capitol can induce multiple triggers whether it be a person, place, or just a simple word," she said gently, "We won't suspend your time here because you do help her but...like I said you need to be very careful. When she is triggered the person you know is no longer there. She will hurt anyone to do what her brain is telling her to do."

It took them a while before Serena was stable enough to have any visitors. Even when they allowed Cato back into the room they made sure to have a guard outside the door just in case she tried to hurt him. Her hands were strapped down to the bed again to try and prevent another person getting harmed. Serena looked up at him when he walked inside. "You need to go," she whispered, "I don't want to hurt you."
~
Gale shook his head in response. The capitol was starting to go too far. First with Alice and now with Serena. They needed to take action and soon. Their technology was more advanced than rebellions and they were just showing off. They could have done much worse things to either of his friends but for some reason they refrained. "They just sent us back here so that you and Serena could scare people when they see what the Capitol is really capable of," he said gently.

It was sickening to say the least. He moved closer to Alice and kissed her head. He wasn't going to let this scare him. In fact, when he managed to find Snow he was going to kill him as painfully as possible. He deserved it. After everything he did to the districts, their children, and to his friends, he deserved to suffer for years on end.

Alice just lowered her eyes a bit as she thought about Serena, and hoped that she would be alright. Hearing Gale say how the capitol was just trying to scare everyone with her and Serena as examples, she frowned a bit "I guess..." she mumbled softly, sighing as she rested her head back against the pillows. She knew this rebellion wasn't going to be easy - no one expected that. But sometimes it got too overwhelming, and Alice just wanted to escape from it all for just a little bit, sometimes.

"I think what's worse is I'm not even bothered that Coin got injured" she mumbled softly, feeling like she had to speak quietly since it wasn't really good to talk like that. "I mean really though, all that woman does is hide behind people like us. She has us do all the fighting for her - and she doesn't really care about any of us individually. Only Serena, because she's the mockinjay. I mean let's face it, if it weren't for Serena, you, I, and Cato would all be dead, and Coin wouldn't even care. Sometimes I feel like she's not much different than Snow...." she mumbled softly as she glanced to Gale "You think so too, right?" she asked, hoping she wasn't sounding crazy to him.

~

Cato listened to the nurse explain how even though it was bad, it was good in the sense that they knew what specifically was wrong with her, so they could target treating the real issue now that they knew what was going on. It still didn't sound like good news though....he hated seeing Serena like that, and really hoped she would get better. The nurse didn't seem to alarmed, and in anything, hopeful and confident about being able to properly treat Serena now. He just nodded his head lightly, before letting them get back to helping her.

Cato wasn't allowed in for a few hours, so during that time he decided to go back to his room and shower and clean up, since he hadn't still since they'd gotten back since he'd stayed by Serena's side. He cleaned himself up and in fresh clothes, glad Gale wasn't in the room so he didn't have to deal with him right now, and he headed back to the medical wing, before he was finally allowed back in to see Serena. Hearing her words, he sighed softly, shaking his head "You're not going to hurt me" he assured her as he moved closer to her "It wasn't you, Serena. It was the Capitol" he assured her, not wanting her to start blaming herself again.

Serena bit her lip and shook her head. She knew the Capitol had used her mind to do those things but it was still her who did them. She had no doubt that if they wouldn't have intervened Coin would be dead and Cato may be too. She couldn't bare the thought of it. She hated herself for letting things get this far out of hand. "It was me," she whispered quietly as she shook her head, "I should have stopped it."

She looked a bit tired as they had given her a sedative before Cato walked in to try and ensure that no problems would arise while he was present. "They told me what I did. I hurt you and President Coin," she whispered before shaking her head, "I should have stopped it. I know I should have but I couldn't." A few tears filled her eyes and began to drip down her cheeks.
~
Gale listened while she spoke and as he did he checked around to make sure no one was listening. Alice really shouldn't be talking like that but he had to admit that she was right. He didn't care much for Coin because he felt like everything she did and every speech she gave was just a facade. She was telling the districts she was one way and then acting another while she was off camera. It was really annoying and it was eerie how similar she really was to Snow.

"I think everything you just said is right," he said gently, "Honestly, if the rebellion manages to succeed in dethroning the Capitol then...I think everything is just going to be reversed. The Capitol is going to be like the Districts were and Coin will constantly be punishing them for what they did. It may not be exactly like what happened to us but it will be similar. We can't do that to them. As much as I hate the Capitol...we can't do that to them. Because then it's only a matter of time before they rise up and try to rebel against us. It'll just be a never ending loop. If we succeed, we're going to need a leader who actually cares about people and not just about themselves.

Alice noticed Gale's slight apprehension at first of what she started to talk about, glancing around carefully for others. Alice knew she should be careful saying such things, but she couldn't help herself. She just sighed a bit, shaking her head "The fact we have to be so scared to voice our opinions like this...it's just the same, Gale. It's the same as before, when we had to fear saying anything against the capitol" she sighed in slight frustration.

As he spoke in agreement with her though, she did feel relieved. She was glad that she wasn't the only one that felt this way, and also the fact that he wasn't bothered or offended by what she had said. "I guess we'll just have to see were it goes...the rebellion is still pretty unstable, so we need as much stability as possible right now...but hopefully in the end things will work out for the best."

~

Cato sighed a bit with a shake of his head when she continued to seem determined that it was her doing, and she could have stopped it and such. "It was only your body, Serena. But it wasn't you. It wasn't your mind" He tried to assure her as he wished he could do more to comfort her. He didn't know what he could say or do to make her feel better though, and he could only imagine the internal struggle she had going on inside herself. He just wished there was more her could do.

As she continued to talk about it, and the tears started to fall from her face, he no longer cared about the rules he was give about remaining a few feet or so away from Serena, even though she was already strapped down. He didn't care less about the rules, and only Serena. He moved closed to her side, cupping her face in his hands as he brushed the tears from her face "Shhh, it's okay. You couldn't help it, it's not your fault."

It took Serena while, 4 months to be exact, to get back up and moving. She was very hesitant about getting back out in the field but Cato helped her a bit with that. She really had only known him as the arrogant, smooth talking boy from District 2. Little did she know that he had a soft side that he barely let anyone see but for some reason she was an exception.

She did a bit of training with a very skilled archer to help her get her skills back in order. It didn't take her too long as she had only been out of practice for a few months, but still it took some time. She shot the last couple arrows from her quiver before the trainer came up and gave her a highfive. "I think you're just about there," she said with a smile, "And more practice and you'll be better than me." Serena giggled at that and rolled her eyes before thanking her for her time and effort. It really had meant a lot to her.
~
Gale stayed with Alice as she recovered to help her as best he could and to support her through the whole ordeal. But he could only do so much considering how stubborn Alice was. Every morning he would go and get some breakfast with her once she was off her strict diet, and when he was granted time off from work, he would linger around the training grounds both watching and waiting for her to get done.

He had yet to tell her but he had fallen head over heels in love with her. He never really thought that could happen to him but then again, he also thought he would die during the Hunger Games and he had survived two of those, so anything was possible. He was just happy that she was finally getting to train again and be happy. He missed that about her and it made him feel good that she was going to experience that again.

Alice had taken a while to get her physical strength back, as the annemia had taken quite a lot out of her. She had recovered faster than Serena though, due to the obvious fact of how different their health issues were. Therefore, Alice had also been allowed out of the medical beds months before Serena was allowed out, about two months. During that time, Alice had the room to herself.

At first, it was kind of nice, she enjoyed not having to worry about another person being in the room, but after about two weeks she had gotten incredibly lonely, having previously been so used to sharing a room, it was weird not to. So she would often sneak across the hall, even if curfew was past, and annoy Gale and Cato with her company if they weren't otherwise sleeping. Cato of course never found this amusing. Currently, Alice was in the training room, like she frequently was, where she was enjoying running her routine laps around the track.

~

It had been a rough couple of months, but Cato had been there for Serena whenever he could. She had her good days, and she had bad days, but the more weeks that passed by, the less bad days she would have. And over the past couple weeks to a month she seemed to have gotten a lot better. Cato got frustrated - as he easily did - but he was there for Serena and he was glad to see how far she had come.

He was going to check up on her, as he often did lately since she had gotten back to training and getting her body back to her usual routine and everything. He checked up on her more frequently than he had in the past though, mainly because of how worried he was with her getting back to work and everything. Over the past months, Cato had gotten more than over protective over her, with everything she had gone through.

Serena gave her trainer a hug before going to help her clean up. It didn't take them long because there were to of them. She stuck the arrow and her bow back in the armory before turning and seeing Cato. She thanked her trainer once more before running over to Cato and hugging him tightly.

"It's about time you showed up," she teased before kissing his cheek, "I just got done and you'll be happy to know that my aim is back on point. Or I mean...as on point as it was before." She released him and brushed her braid back behind her shoulder. "Do you want to train or go back and get some breakfast? Either one is good with me."
~
Gale knew Alice was happy to have Serena back in her room. She had been in and out of thei room so frequently it was hard not to notice how much happier she was to have Serena back. It was great to see them get together again. He actually missed seeing the two together. They acted like best friends.

He went to one of the training rooms to look for Alice. Ever since she had been cleared she had spent much of her time in at least one of the training rooms getting her knife-throwing arm back. It didn't take much because he knew she was very talented, but everyone still had to practice, even extributes such as themselves.

Alice ran a few laps around the track to keep her body back in shape. It had taken her a few weeks, as he body had become extremely malnourished - not only from the treatment she underwent when held captive by Snow, but the anemia itself caused her to lose a lot of weight, including muscle mass, which took a long time for her to finally get back through determined training. She had finally recently gotten back to her normal speed and endurance of running, as well as her aim in practicing with her knifes.

She was currently just finishing up a lap of her usual morning training routine when she saw Gale entering the room, and she smiled as jogged over to him, finishing the lap and slowing to a halt by his side "Good morning" she chimed with a smile "What's up? Did you come to train, or just enjoy watching me?" she smirked teasingly at him.

~

As Cato made his way to where he knew Serena was having her usual archery practice with her professional trainer, to get back on point and everything, he was just entering the room as they finished up cleaning. He smiled a bit when he saw her run over to him and hug him, and he gladly welcomed her with open arms, wrapping them around her as he hugged her close "Well, you know me, it takes time to look as flawless as I do" he winked at her with a smirk.

As she asked about food, he nodded a bit "I haven't eaten yet. Breakfast sounds good to me" he agreed with a nod as he let go of her and casually took her hand in his own "How was practice?" he asked, before hearing that she was back on point as much as she had been before "That's great" he smiled happily for her.

Serena giggled and shook her head when he spoke. "Oh please you're such a girl," she jested before taking his hand in her's and walking to the cafeteria. It had been 3 weeks since she had been released from the hospital but for a while she was only able to go to training and then go back to the medical bay for an assessment. Recently she had been cleared to start working again but so far nothing had come in. Well until yesterday but she was rather afraid to tell Cato.

They got their food before taking a seat at one of the many tables in the cafeteria. She picked at her food before sighing slightly. "They um...they want to send me to District 2," she explained, "They've told me it's the only District still loyal to the Capitol." She paused for a moment before looking up at him. "What do you think about that?" she asked.
~
"Hey," he said with a smile, "I um...I wanted to see how you were doing. But I guess it would sound creepy if I chose the latter so we'll go with I came here to train." He had really just come to see her and make sure that she was doing ok. Then again, he wasn't sure what to expect. Even if she was hurting she wouldn't say it anyway.

Gale leaned on one of the poles that was next to him before speaking up again. "I um I managed to talk to Coin about switching my job," he said with a smirk, "I'm going to start my training on Monday. I mean at first she said no but Serena has a way with words and managed to convince her that id be quite the good spy, so it looks like you're stuck with me."

Alice couldn't help but smile a bit when he said how saying he came to check on her and watch her sounded creepy so he was saying he came to train. She smiled in amusement and shook her head, since she loved how awkward but cute Gale could be, even when he wasn't trying to be like right now. She appreciated how concerned he seemed to be over her, even when she was cleared by the medics as fully healed and everything a while ago.

"I'm doing fine, thanks. I'm not going to suddenly combust or something the second you take your eyes off of me" she teased the male before hearing him mention how he had managed to get his job switched finally, and her eyes lit up in excitement "Oh, that's great! Congrats" she grinned at him happily, having know how much he wanted it. Not only to help protect her, but even since they first got to district 13, he'd wanted a job more involved with physically doing something outside and for the rebellion, not just training kids.

Cato scoffed a bit "A girl? Please" he huffed with a childish pout at the slight burn to his masculinity, but still took her hand into his own as they started to head to the cafeteria for breakfast. Serena was probably the only one that could insult him and get away with it, anyone else would have fists to deal with. Something about Serena just made him listen to her, and she was the only one that could really put him in line.

As they got their food and moved to sit down at a table, he noticed something seemed to be on her mind. He looked to her curiously, wondering if he should ask, and being his nosy self, he was about to, until she started speaking up. His face instantly fell a bit hearing what she said, frowning as he glanced down at his plate "I see..." he sighed, not surprised 2 was still still resisting. He wondered if it had to do with the fact of himself, that he was from 2, everyone there adored and loved him, but when he changed sides, they felt betrayed by him, so they were still acting out. "When?" he asked, wondering how soon she'd be going out on her first job since her recovery.

Serena took a deep breath and sighed. "Um...well they're thinking maybe some time tomorrow," she admitted as she twirled her fork on her plate, "Coin told me that they were the only District that hadn't gotten onboard with the rebellion. I don't know how true that is though. I'm sure the Careers are still resisting." She didn't want to single Cato out. That wasn't fair to him and honestly it made her feel bad.

"I'll be safe though. Apparently one of the stylists from the Capitol made me some kind of suit that will help protect me," she said gently, "I just...I don't want you be upset. We need to put what happened behind us and focus on what's best for the rebellion. I know you're scared. I am too and I just...this is what needs to be done."

Gale smiled happily when he saw her grin. He hadn't expected her to be so excited about it. "Ya, they are going to make stick with some training though," he replied with a slight shrug, "I'll just be a sub basically." He had to admit he did like teaching kids, but it got boring after a while. He wanted a bit more action and honestly he wanted to see how some of the Districts were doing. He hadn't had any contact with anyone since he had left."

"Well I'm glad you're happy about me tagging along," he said with a smirk, "And I'm taking any chances. Last time you left me behind you scared the life right out of me. Besides I need you to make sure I stay out of trouble as well. I still have a massive grudge against Snow so if you could make sure that I don't actually go try to kill him that would be much appreciated.

She nodded a bit as he explained how he'd be stuck with training for a little bit, remembering that herself "Yeah, that's the worst. It can get pretty boring the training" she said before he commented about tagging along and not taking any chances. She just laughed a bit "Well, of course I'd be happy you can come along. How could I not enjoy having more opportunities to save you" she teased lightly.

Hearing his comment about Snow she just raised a brow "Hey I make no promises on that one. I don't particularly wish death on anyone but him....he's an exception" she said with a shake of her head "If anything I'd probably just go along and join you in that endeavor if you ever did. The sooner he's gone, the sooner the capitol falls. And all this fighting can finally stop" she sighed softly.

Hearing how soon she was expected to go, his face fell a bit. He honestly wasn't sure what to feel, as he had a lot of conflicting emotions. He knew Serena had long since been cleared of being healthy again, and had been cleared to go on missions and everything, but he still felt it was too soon. Even though it had been over four months. Six months would still be too soon for him. He was just too protective over her since what happened, and while he knew she would eventually go back to her job, and she was needed, he wished he could prevent it.

Another conflicting feeling he had was that it was with his own home district. He saw very differently from them now, but he still couldn't help but feel like somehow he betrayed them - because he knew that's what they felt from him. He sighed a bit, running a hand through his hair "I see" he simply mumbled softly, pushing his food around a bit with his fork as he wasn't really sure what to say. When she tried to act like she understood how he felt though, he just shook his head "I'm fine" he stated simply and shortly, his mixture of emotions not helpful at the moment.

Serena sighed slightly before taking his hands in her's. "I know you're not," she said quietly as she rubbed the tops of his hands with her palms, "Cato, I know all of this is hard, but this is what I have to do. We knew when we came here that we were going to have to do somethings that we didn't want to do, but I have to go. I don't want you to feel like you have to. I don't want to do that to you. I can find someone else to go with me if you want."

She knew he was upset but she needed to go. If District 2 really was the only thing standing between the Districts banning together, then this was absolutely critical that she go. It would be dangerous though and the last thing she wanted was for Cato to feel like he had to hurt one of his own to protect her. She held his hand a bit more tightly as she tried to give him a smile. "But if you want to go, I'll be with you every step of the way," she said gently.
~
Gale smirked slightly as he nodded. She was right; Snow needed to go and the sooner he went the better. Gale really thought it was more of the more painfully he went the better, but her theory worked too. He kissed her cheek before taking her arm. "Come on Ms. Daredevil," he said with a smile, "Let's go get something to eat. You have to be hungry from running. I mean I'm hungry after just watching you."

He didn't really wait for her to answer before pulling her along with him. He hardly ever got to spend time with her since she had gotten better. He missed just being in her presence. He put his arm around her before starting to walk towards the cafeteria. When they arrived, he picked up his plate and grabbed one for her as well before they went through and got some food. "Wherever you want to sit is fine with me," he commented to her once they got their food.

Alice smiled a bit and she was glad how much she and gale seemed to agree on just about everything. He was more strict when it came to rule-following and such, when it was needed, anyways, though she felt that he was more like that specifically when it came to her, and her health, not just rules in general. She knew she needed it though, and appreciated him for that. Just like she knew how to keep him in line too when he got too hot-headed sometimes about things.

As he grabbed her arm and pulled her off to eat before she could even response, she giggled a bit "Alright" she said as she walked along with him, smiling a bit as she felt his arm around her and she couldn't deny she really enjoyed when he did that. It not only brought her comfort, but it was kind of cute how he would make it obvious she was his, and taken - which she didn't mind at all, of course. As they arrived at the cafeteria and got their food, she nodded a bit before moving to an open table that wasn't too far from where they were standing.

Cato frowned a bit and sighed, glancing up from his food when Serena had stated she knew that he wasn't fine. He didn't argue though, knowing she read him like an open book, and he just looked up at her silently as she explained how she needed to do this, and trying to talk to him in a comforting way. He only nodded his head silently, knowing that she was right. He had known his district would be one of the harder ones to convince, like the other careers. Now it seemed they were the last ones.

Hearing her say she'd find someone else if he couldn't go, he at least knew the immediate answer, and quickly shook his head "No no, I'm going with you, and you know that" he said as he gripped her hand back in his own "It's just...." he started before sighing and shaking his head a bit "I'm going, don't worry" he said, before forcing a small smile to her "I'll be fine, alright? I knew something like this would happen, so don't worry..." he tried to assure her.

Serena smiled slightly as nodded. She knew that he really wasn't ok with it but she figured that there no sense in arguing. "Well I'm glad you're coming with me then," she said gently before kissing his hand, "I love you."

And she meant that from the bottom of her heart. She really did care for him but she had to admit that she was worried about him some times. He would never admit when something was wrong with him. "I'm really happy you're going to come with me," she said with a slight smile as she tried to lighten to mood, "I mean I know it's hard to believe but arrogant, strong, and very attractive men are hard to find these days."
~
Gale nodded slightly and smiled as he walked over to the table. On his way he spotted Cato and Serena, but thank god Alice didn't try to to sit by them, and Serena didn't try to call them over either. He really didn't want to worry about Cato being an ass at the moment, however, it appeared that at the moment he wouldn't be in the mood for that.

He shrugged it off and set his food down across from Alice before sitting down. "Any big plans for today?" he asked. He still had a bit more training to go through today so that he could be ready to depart with Alice and her group whenever they were asked to go somewhere. "If you don't you can come watch me make a fool of myself during my last day of training?"
