Seònaid's heart beat rapidly within her chest as the headmaster made the announcement. Excitement wasn't an emotion she normally felt, but today seemed determined to prove the opposite to be true. Pursing her lips, she sneaked a quick glance towards Percy as they and the rest of the first years formed a line.

They were going to be sorted now. The mere thought of it sent chills down her spine. She knew what was to come, but that did little to calm her racing heart. Nonetheless, the only thing that she could do was stand tall as she waited for her name to be called.

Percy made his way into line right behind Seo'naid so that they could be sorted back to back. He was a bundle of nerves internally but did his best to hide the fact. He was anxious as well as excited to see where the sorting hat would put him. He was hoping for Gryffindor but he would really accept anything but Slytherin.

Watching eagerly as they slowly made their way closer to the front his nerves only grew while he did his best to keep a stoic face. This was a tradition that he wouldn't want to see ruined. If he ever became Head Master one day he would definitely do his best to ensure that this tradition remained a main staple of the process.

"MacAnndaidh, Seònaid!" She heaved a sigh as her name was eventually called out.

Just like that, the hall burst into a torrent of frenzied whispers as the petite girl walked up to the stand with confident strides. Sitting down on the stool, the Sorting Hat was then carefully placed onto her messy curls of hair, obscuring her eyes from the view of the crowd. Seconds passed in silence, though if one looked closely enough, they would see the way the young girl bit down on her lips. It seemed she was having a rather intense debate. Her hands clenched tightly onto her robes to the point where her knuckles turned white, when finally...

"Slytherin!" The Sorting Hat shouted.

The table at the far left burst into applause as the Hat was removed from her head to be placed on the person next in line—said person just so happening to be Percy. Brushing past him on her way to her table, she flashed him a hesitant smile before moving forward.

Percy was surprised when she was sorted into Slytherin. He had thought that in order to fit in with Slytherin that people had to still be at least partially sympathetic to the Dark Lord's ways of thinking. Like how only the pure blooded should be able to learn magic at schools such as Hogwarts and that it was acceptable to call people Mudbloods. But just from their brief time together he knew Seo'naid wasn't no Death Eater supporter or Dark Lord sympathizer.

Offering her a smile as she came back down off of the stage and made her way to the table he clapped for her before stepping up when his name was called. Trying his best to concentrate his thoughts since the Sorting Hat could probably read his mind he focused on one thought as much as he could. He wanted to be in Gryffindor. Repeating it over and over in his head to himself he listened anxiously to the hat as it pondered for a few moments before sorting him into the house of his dreams. "A courageous heart I see. A curious mind that's eager to learn. Well if you're sure, better be Gryffindor!"

Percy was so happy that he got the house that he had dreamed about being sorted into that it was all he could do to not make a scene jumping up and down all the way to the table with joy. He made his way to the table with a big smile on his face and sat down as he was welcomed to the table that had held some of the greatest witches and wizards in history including Harry Potter himself.

Seònaid was not at all surprised to find out that Percy was sorted into Gryffindor. From the brief time the two had spent together, she could tell that it was only fitting that the other of belonged to the house of lions. Nonetheless, she clapped alongside the rest of the students as the young man made his way to his own table, biting down on the smile that threatened to overtake her stoic features.

Already, her fellow snakes were chatting her up, eager to get to know the daughter of the two most influential people in the Wizarding World. Slyhterin was, after all, the house of cunning, ambition and resourcefulness.

The rest of the night was relatively uneventful. They ate for a bit and then explored their new quarters and got themselves situated since all of their stuff at arrived. Once he had finally settled down Percy finally thought about checking on Seo'naid but he had no idea what the password to get into the Slytherin common room would be never mind not being allowed in there regardless. Checking his "muggle device" as he liked to call it he went onto his cell phone to social media to see if he could possibly find her on there. Everyone or damn near was on the internet nowadays right?

After a few minutes of searching he couldn't find anything.

"Wow," he muttered to himself as he rubbed his eyes. "Make my first friend here at school on top of it being a girl and fail at trying to get some contact info incase we wanna hang out outside of classtime. Smooth Percival. Smooth."

Shaking his head he decides to explore around the castle a bit while avoiding the forbidden zones of course. Maybe he would get lucky on his first night and find the remains of the room of requirement?

In the meantime, Seònaid was all curled up next to the hearth of the Slytherin common room. Engrossed in reading the thick, musty book she held in her hands, she was completely oblivious to the comings and goings of the outside world. It was at that moment that her pet Maine Coon, Caoimhe, decided to crawl onto her lap, purring loudly like a motor engine.

Setting aside her book for the moment, she carded her slender fingers through the feline's fur, looking perfectly content with the world. There was something niggling at the back of her mind, however, that she was forgetting something, something important.

After exploring for a good hour or so Percy made his way back to the Gryffindor common room. Not wanting to be out after curfew on his first night in the castle he recited the password to the portrait and entered, collapsing in one of the chairs by the fireplace to relax for a bit.

"Well at least I got a better feeling for the layout of the castle a little," he muttered to himself as he looked around to see other people chit chatting and gossiping excitedly.

After all of his exploring he realized that he hadn't made any friends yet in his own house. He would have to rectify that tomorrow if no one was going to talk to him tonight.
