The History of Rotsheimgaard


The history of Rotsheimgaard is veiled in mystery. What you find below is a general and brief description of the main ages of the world as they are described by scholars in the current age.


Age of the Stars


In the dawn of time, there was nothing but stars in skies that overlooked the everlasting night that was Rotsheimgaard. In the north, the land was of nothing but rocks covered with cold snow and silence was absolute. But in the south, there was a tremendous fire roaring like thunder. But as there was no wind to carry neither warmth, cold, silence or sound from one place to the other, and the two was completely separated. For aeons upon aeons existed nothing but this.


Age of the Winds


But suddenly, a wind would start blowing through the land. And the warmth of the south was carried north, and thus the snow would melt into fresh spring-water, allowing the first forests to start growing. These winds of magic continued to blow throughout the land, and soon life would appear in all corners of Rotsheimgaard! For many thousand years, life was allowed to grow plentyful, and all manners of animals would appear in the world, alongside the first humans.


Age of Chaos


For reasons unknown, the winds of creation happened upon a storm. The storm knew nothing but chaos, and as such, dragons, demons and all forms of unholy terrors would be created and rise from the earth to feed on the weaker creatures of Rotsheimgaard. The world was without a doubt a horrible place for many thousand years!


Age of Heroes


The chaos was put to an end when The Sea People arrived, having been sent by the old gods. With them, they carried steel, which was needed to put an end to the evil monsters that roamed the land. They built the great bridges, cities and brought order to the world. Even today, many thousand years later, giant statues of the great heroes from this age can be found in all corners of Rotsheimgaard.


Age of Oblivion


When the monstrous threat from the Age of Chaos was no more, people had no need for heroes. And no more grand cities or statues where built. Throughout the course of years the knowledge of the old world faded, and Rotsheimgaard again turned into a less civilized world. During this age, some terrors of old got the chance to grow again, and return to Rotsheimgaard.


Current Age


Today, Rotsheimgaard is in a state of confusion. The Old Faith has been thrown aside and replaced by yet another religion brought from across the southern seas - The One Faith - which is spreading from the south and northward with a tremendous speed. The rule of Sverjia and Danr expands further north for each year, slowly but steadily erasing the memories of the old world.
