Rosie could hardly contain herself. This was the most exciting day of her life!
Well... after joining the Global Shield of United Nations, of course.
She was finally moving out of that raggedy studio apartment she was living in with her foster sister, Cornelia Robinson, and into an actual 2 bedroom LUXURY apartment complex!
"We're totally the new girls in town!" She chuckled to herself, beaming at Cornelia as they approached their new home.
"HA!" She chuckled heartily, "See if you're this excited when we're unpacking everything! We've got a WHOLE moving van to unearth!"
It was a bright, sunny day nearing Los Angeles, and Rosie and Corny were battling traffic on the 405 while driving an air-conditioned, mid-sized U-Haul.
Rosie giggled as she looked out of the big trucks window, excited for what the day would bring to her despite the upcoming chore.
How much stuff could they possibly have to unpack and drag to their new apartment? Their old one barely had enough room for the two of them to live! Plus, most of her belongings were now in G.S.U.N Central anyway.
"Soooooo... You think this new place will make it easier to get there and back without using too much fuel and catching cold up there so long now that we're much closer to it?" Cornelia winked, quickly putting her eyes back on the road afterwards.
"Yeah, it'll definitely be nice to not have to spend the night at HQ or fly high in the cold night air for so much now!" She agreed, relieved.
She didn't mind flying, but the cold and huge use of jet fuel for transportation were another story.
"That's good! More time to work on your assignments, ya slacker!" Cornelia joked as she playfully gave Rosie a hard time.
"H-hey! Y-you leave me alone a-and stop judging m-me! I can't help it the world needs saving when Mr. Comic book Superhero needs his left arm filled in with blue!" Rosie defensively stumbled, secretly agreeing with Corny that she had to balance her two lives better.
"I'm kiddin', I'm kiddin'!" Cornelia chuckled, "You've probably got a much more excitin' day job than most of your other super pals!"
"We have a strict policy of never asking about our mild mannered alter egos!" Rosie playfully scoffed indignantly, even turning her head and adding a 'hmmmph' afterwards.
"OK, Mega-girl," Corny rolled her eyes as she exasperatedly sighed.
"H-hey! Don't just say it all willy-nilly l-like th-that!" Rosie gasped, shocked Corny would say her alter-egos identity so nonchalantly.
"Oh RELAX, it's not like this U-Haul's rigged or anything, geez!" Cornelia laughed, having none of Rosie's paranoid, conspiracy theorist nonsense.
"St-still..." Rosie muttered, clearly paranoid already.
"AH! FINALLY! THE EXIT!" Cornelia nearly shouted upon seeing it, properly changing lanes to the exit from the fast lane in the appropriate speed.
"Heh, seems like we've been driving for FOREVER, huh?" Rosie giggled upon noting the look of relief on Cornelia's face.
"Rosie, I like driving, and I love spending time with you and all... but... So help me God, if KIIS FM plays LADY GAGA'S 'EDGE OF GLORY' one more time I will literally rip out this U-Hauls radio!" Cornelia gritted through her teeth, narrowing her eyes and glaring at the radio while saying to as if to threaten it.
"You know, you could always just change the station if you didn't like it," Rosie told her while raising an eyebrow to her.
"...Why would you bring logic into this friendship, Rosie? Why do you hate me?" Cornelia asked as they exited the freeway and were finally in L.A.
They stopped by at a fast-food restaurant that was close for some burgers for lunch since they were starving, getting large combo sizes AND dessert as proof of that, and then completed the final stretch of their journey to Scenic Grove Apartment Complex.
It wasn't the most impressive of places, and certainly didn't look as luxurious as other 'luxury' places they saw while apartment hunting, but it did look nice and the rent seemed fair. Plus, there was a pool!
They picked up their keys and key-cards and parked the truck at the closest entrance they could. Their apartment was on the second floor, sadly, so it would be quite a haul indeed.
"I don't suppose you could..." She started while trailing off to glance at the special 'suitcase' Rosie hid her costume.
"NO! Absolutely NOT! Are you loco in your cocoa?!" Rosie scolded her, not believing she was about to ask that of her. She knew if her mentor, The Captain of G.S.U.N, had known her foster sister knew her secret identity he'd have a whole litter of kittens!
"Okay, okay... Sorry.. It's just sooooo muuuuccchhh," Corny grueled, hanging her head in defeat before they even began.
"Well, we'll get through this like we did before! The sooner we lug it all up there, the sooner we can unpack it and the sooner our home will be set up~!" Rosie beamed trying to stay positive since she was in a great mood.
"Watch yer pal, the Capp'n, call you on your communicator and tell you to report to HQ soon as we haul, like, ONE box up there," Corny predicted, a bit annoyed, as her second life did beckon Rosie at the worst of times for her personal life.
"Don't jinx it! A-and don't say that stuff so freely!" Rosie stuttered, looking around to make sure they were alone, again paranoid and nervous.
"Haha, okay, okay, sorry," Corny apologized, knowing she had pushed enough of those buttons... for today...
They actually managed to lug most of the smaller boxes off the moving truck, but when it came to their couch and tables and bunk bed, they started struggling.
"Nnnnnngggghhhhh...So.. heavy..." Corny barely managed to grit.
"MMMrrrrrrnnnmmm, PUSH!" Rosie struggled while yanking the mattress of one of their beds up the stairs from the top step. Corny was right, this would have been easier as Mega-Girl...
"THAT'S IT, SCREW THIS THING! MOVE IT, ROSIE!" Cornelia decided as she put all her strength into flipping the mattress to the top.
Corny launched the bed right at Rosie, but as it was about to flatten the little woman, she felt herself being tugged out of the way from it's sudden burst forward.
"OH CRAP! I'M SO SORRY! ARE YOU OKAY!?" Corny called as she rushed up the stairs to check on her foster sister.
"Y-yeah, I-I'm fine..." Rosie stuttered, not because of nearly going splat against the apartment walls, but because she was now in the arms of a very handsome, young, blue-eyed, golden-haired man who was warmly smiling at her...
