Personality:
Kaito is a man always at war. If not with a sword, then with himself. Being raised by a league of assassins, his life was always far from normal. His family was a band of ruthless killers, he had to be strong because there was no other option. Because of his cold upbringing he has never let anyone close enough to rely on them. Even Kai isn't sure who the real him is, and he's not sure he wants to. The boy without the sword is a mystery to everyone, including himself.

In spite of all of the violence surrounding him, Kaito is secretly rather compassionate. Beneath his grumpy facade, Kai has a soft spot for those who stick around despite his hard exterior. His first instinct is to be the ruthless killer he was raised to be, but the older he gets the more he questions his families way of life.

biography.
Nokuda Kaito was doomed from birth. Perhaps, even before birth. His father, infamous assassin Nokuda Tetsuzan, had sought out a strong, healthy woman to impregnate solely for the purpose of raising a weapon. From birth Kai was made to be a weapon, training to fight from the moment he could walk and learning battle tactics.

Tetsuzan's profession kept him quite distant from his child, the result being that their relationship was less father-son and more professional. In the place of a mother or father, Kaito grew up with a never ending cycle of professional assassins as his personal teachers.

Kaito would be their secret weapon to further their growing empire. Tetsuzan didn't show his child affection, in fact he barely talked to him outside of training. Every waking moment was spent with some form of training, whether in martial arts, weaponry, or intellectual skill.

The constant bloodshed is all that Kaito has ever known, and it has taken its toll on him. By the time he was eighteen, he was completing every mission his father assigned him with ease. However, as artfully trained as he was, he was still just a child suffering extreme nightmares and anxiety. A lifetime of PTSD and near death experiences led to his decision to join the Heroes of Tomorrow when confronted with the option to join or spend the rest of his life in prison after he was captured on a mission gone wrong. While outwardly Kai rebelled, there is a part of him that's curious to see what more there is to life besides doing his fathers' dirty deeds.

Personality:
Constant war is all that Kataly'a has ever known, and it has taken its toll on her. The champion of a dying race, Kataly'a has the weight of an entire planet on her shoulders. No one is harder on Kataly'a than herself, always striving to be better, to be good enough for her people. A practiced smile is always plastered on her face, to ease the worries of those around her even when she's cracking under the pressure.

Despite all of the violence surrounding her, Kataly'a is loyal to her people to no end and rather compassionate. There is nothing that Kat wouldn't do to protect her people and those she cares about. To Earthlings she is rather friendly and curious, but her affinity for violence often makes it hard to make friends. All she knows to be is a ruthless warrior, but Earth is bringing out a softer side of her and she is learning to be more human.

The princess has spent her whole life fighting to survive, now that she's on Earth she is able to explore, not just the planet but herself. Kataly'a enjoys the diversity of Earth, even though it is much different than her homeworld. While she misses home, she is learning many valuable things that she can one day take home and use to save her dying race.

Biography
Almerac is a planet populated by Almeracians, a humanoid race of technologically advanced warriors with energy manipulation abilities. The Almeracians are ruled by a matriarchy of superpowered monarchs who maintain their bloodline and energy manipulation through selective breeding. The Almeracians choose mates through ceremonial gladiatorial competitions; whichever male can defeat a prospective female in battle earns her hand in marriage.

As the daughter of Queen Maxima and her consort Ultraa, Kataly'a is not the type of princess fairytales are written about. The princess was training to fight, learning war tactics, and the ins and outs of intergalactic politics as soon as she could walk. Her life was far from normal, even for an alien. The Almeracians were fierce warriors, she had to be strong because there was no other option and as their future queen she needed to be the strongest of them all.

Being the heir to the throne, the young princess had a ton of pressure put on her from the moment she was born. It was never an option for her to fail, she had to be the best, the strongest, the smartest. There was never time to rest for the young girl, if she wasn't training in combat she was learning her other royal duties, such as foreign diplomacy. Because of all the weight on her shoulders, Kataly'a is very hard on herself and often lashes out in frustration.

The Almeracian's had been raging war with anyone who dared cross them for thousands of years, but one of their most vile enemies was the Citadel. When Kataly'a was sixteen her father, Ultraa, was killed in battle against the Citadel and the whole planet mourned for him. Both Queen Maxima and her daughter raged war even more ruthlessly, both woman bitter and determined to get revenge even if it killed them. It was only a few more months of battle before Almerac won, destroying the Citadel for the time being.

Kataly'a is afraid to disappoint her parents and her entire species. Being the crown princess there is a whole world on her shoulders, her entire life she has learned how to take care of her people and never been allowed to make selfish decisions. Her race is already dwindling, and her failure could lead to the end of their race or the destruction of their home planet. Even years after her father's death she is grieving, and part of her wonders if the warrior lifestyle is the only way her people can survive, or if it is what's killing them off.

Since then, Kataly'a has only been harder on herself and more determined to succeed. Without her father, her mother has grown weary and has started preparing her daughter to take over the throne for good. While the warrior life is all that she's ever known, she wants to travel the galaxy and make formidable allies to ensure that Almerac will be in a good place when she takes over. Kataly'a enrolled in Crucible Academy, an intergalactic school for heroes where she was recruited by the Justice League and assigned to Earth.

    While Jude is stocky, she definitely does not look her weight. It's due to her body's rather...odd physiology. Look too close, and you'll see the cracks in her stone exterior. Literally. Otherwise, the gal is quite fit with lots of muscle, always keeping her body in tip top shape, but there's still a bit of softness to her that makes people question her skills upon first impressions. And oh boy, does she love proving people wrong.

    Jude has plenty of body modifications, most noticeably many face and ear piercings. Both of her ears are pierced through the lobes, her right ear has an industrial piercing, as well as a few studs. Her nose has a bridge piercing and a septum, and she sports a labret piercing below her lips. The gal also has a few shitty stick-n-poke tattoos on her body, faded over time.

Personality: Jade is never mentally at peace, either anxious that her past will catch up or she will become her mother. Biography/History -

Jade Wu-San, legacy and daughter of the Dragon. Some say she was born from the pits of hell, when reality was much worse. Thailee Wu-san, a highly nefarious and infamous assassin who had the title of “The Dragon.” Thailee had a reputation as one of the most dangerous women on the planet. Being an irrefutable master of the martial arts. An undefeated and never underestimated killer, and leader of a longtime-standing assassin group known as “The League of Serpents.” Though the one thing she longed for yet never had was a daughter. For years, Thailee searched high and low for a man up to her standards. A man with fortune. . .power to steal for her own.

Jade's father had been an unsuspecting civilian businessman, having a company heavily involved within advancing medical technologies. Whilst Thailee framed herself to be the perfect, innocent girl any man had an eye out for. She was beautiful, kind, and a liar. She soon became impregnated with the one thing she dreamed of having, an heiress. Thailee soon discarded this man, going back to her home, an isolated Island within the Pacific ocean.

Now, onto the most important part, Jade. Ever since she could even walk on her two feet, training was shoved onto her. Day in and day out, training. Countless hours and days of being pushed beyond her limits, spilling blood left and right. Thailee hoped to create the perfect assassin. A young girl, a weapon who had no flaws. She was to be a faultless killing machine. At age eight Jade was taken with her mothers subjects to see groups of people brutally murdered. The girl knew nothing more than to hunt and kill. Hell, Jade barely knew English nor any other language for the majority of her life, and still now she is not fluent. She was not spoken to unless it was for an objective hit. Her mother didn’t show affection because it was weak, a sign of an inadequate threat. About the ripe age of fifteen she began to indulge in solo assassinations. So much blood on a teenager's hands. Young children, parents, families. All removed from the blade of her sword.

Twenty One. On one of Jade's objectives she was sent to dispose of a lawyer who had dabbled in the wrong business, and to also kill anyone who had gotten in the way. Jade did just that, until she saw a scared child, no older than six. She understood what monstrosities she was doing. Looking around at the bloodshed and dying bodies she had stacked up during her objective she understood these people weren’t evil, it was her. She was the monster. . . She was her mother. Jade went into hiding. Thankfully her identity had been a complete secret. To any government she was non-existent, a ghost. There was no “Jade Wu San.” Nothing. One fateful night on the streets she stumbled across a set-up kidnapping. Being in a more- heroic state she saved the child, but made sure not to kill the “kidnappers,” which soon turned out to be a recruitment. Heroes of Tomorrow. She joined. There was no better route for her to choose. Stay homeless living off of dumpster foods or have a second chance?

Powers - Jade with the ability to subconsciously generate a "psionic aura" that alters the probabilities of events and actions within her line of sight. The aura causes improbable (but not impossible) outcomes that are personally beneficial. The resulting effects of this "subliminal telekinesis" are observed as "good luck" for Jade and "bad luck" for her opponents (from enemy equipment serendipitously malfunctioning to averting imminent catastrophes through seemingly-chance actions).

Instead of consciously activating her probability-warping powers, they trigger automatically when Jade faces potential harm, danger, or personal benefit (e.g. engaging in games of chance). The psionic aura benefits and protects Jade even when she isn't consciously aware that danger is present.

Jade must be engaging in an action with multiple possible outcomes for her power to manifest—it will not trigger if she is inactive. Engaging in any action that her power can influence causes Jade’s cerebral cortex to emit bio electrical pulses that guide her movements, enhancing her reflexes and agility to near-superhuman levels.

Sexuality: Bisexual? Maybe somewhere on the ace/aro spectrum? She doesn't really think about it much.
Ethnicity: Unknown to her, but seems to be of mixed Asian and Central American heritage

Hair:
Black, straight. She usually wear it short in some sort of bob, with the neck cropped so that the eye tattoo on the back of her neck is exposed but long enough in the front that she can at least partially hide her eyes behind it.
Eyes: N/A. See below.
Build: 5'4", 162 lbs. Sybil is not really 'in shape', but she's not 'out of shape' either. She's just.... Whatever shape she is, and she's fine with it. She doesn't really go to the gym or anything, but she does a lot of pushups and arm curls while she's waiting on information, so her arms do have some muscle definition beyond your average youth.
Body Mods:
Tattoos: Sybil has many tattoos, all of different designs of eyes. She has a large one on the back of her neck and one in the middle of her collarbone. She has eyes on both shoulderblades, and eyes on the back of her hands and the inside of her wrists. She has eyes on the outside of her knees. She has a lot of eyes, basically.
Scarring: Where Sybil's actual eyes should be is a mess of scars- What looks like might be burns from fire or acid, as well as scars that were probably caused by knives or other sharp instruments. It looks like someone did their damndest to remove Sybil's eyes from her head, and succeeded.

She usually covers these scars through a variety of means. She has small, flesh colored masks that adhere to her face and cover her eye sockets, and these masks have an eye drawn on the left side. By herself, she usually ties a bandana around her face as well. In public, she wears dark, chunky sunglasses and low brimmed hats. The scars are mostly contained to her eye sockets, but are not entirely covered by these concealment methods and a bit of burning can be seen on the right side. If she is going out and about, she will hide that with makeup.

She has considered plastic surgery- one doctor she consulted with said he could restore the left socket enough to hold a fake eyeball and make the skin look more normal- but she hates the idea of going under someone's knife.


Persona —

Moral Alignment: True neutral

Virtues: Self sufficient | Confident (maybe a little too much, and usually more than she actually feels) | Quick thinking and adaptable | Reflective and willing to improve herself (so long as she does not have to admit to it)

Vices: Self centered | Immature | Cynical | Arrogant | Habitual liar | Nosy and interfering, with no understanding of privacy

Quirks:
Sybil often hums when she works- Nonsense tunes as she sketches what she sees, or sometimes muttering under her breath trying to read lips or describe something in a way she will remember.

She is ambidextrous, but leads with her left foot.

She doesn't like strong smells, especially floral in nature.

Without her eyes, Sybil has learned to be very expressive in other ways to get her point across- Her mouth and eyebrows are constantly contorting themselves.

Fears:
Not being useful. Sybil has based her entire worth in her abilities and the information she can collect. If she can't provide something of value, what's the value of her?

Her past catching up to her, or being known by others. Sybil collects other people's secrets, but she has some of her own. She would like them to stay buried.

Trusting or relying on others.
Sybil spent the first decade of her life with no one who cared for her, and no one she cared about. It was easier that way.

Being abandoned. Ties into the above- People always leave. That's just the way it is. If Sybil doesn't get attached to anyone, she can't be hurt when the inevitable happens.

Being unable to see through any means. Sybil is legally blind, and she exploits that to her advantage. But the idea of being truly without sight terrifies her. This ties into how strongly Sybil correlates her abilities with her own self worth. It might also have something to do with how painful it was to lose the eyes she was born with, and the fear that 'losing her sight' again would be similar even if she's old enough now to know that logically wouldn't make sense.

Dark, confined spaces. When using nonbiological eyes (like all of the ones on her own body), Sybil doesn't have great night vision. She pretty much has never turned off the lights in her apartment.

Ambitions: Sybil wants to hold power over people, though she isn't quite sure what that looks like anymore. Mostly, she never wants to feel afraid again. She also likes it when she impresses Oracle.

Personality:
Sybil is a jaded, unpleasant young woman. She is frequently rude and abrasive, and seems to have little respect for authority. Her morals seem loose at best, non-existent at worst. She can pretty much always be relied upon to be self serving.

Interestingly, though, what she deems to be best for her does seem to be… Mutable. When she first began working for Oracle, the only thing she cared about was her paycheck, and tended only to think of the immediate future in terms of reward. Over the years, Oracle has noted a shift. Sybil considers consequences of her actions not in days, but in months and years. She has begun to think about how what she does might affect both herself and Oracle, and their shared operation in the long term.

Sybil now tells her if someone else is after the same information, and not follow that announcement up with an extortion demand. She will also contact Oracle with information she thinks will be useful to the older woman, instead of only answering very specific questions or sharing just what she was assigned to learn. She seems to have learned that cooperating with others and looking out for them, means the favor will be returned.

This may not seem like a lot…. But Sybil is young. In her age, yes, but also in her maturity. She has a lot of growing to do, and Oracle is relieved that she actually seems to be doing it, finally. Sybil did not exactly have a stable, happy environment in which to grow up and learn the sort of lessons normal children do. In her first ‘home’, she was seen as a monster, a corruption of humanity, something to be cured. In her second, her abilities were highly valued and she was given almost anything she wanted. She went from no one to care about or care for her, to only being cared about because of what she could do. The fact that she’s had difficulty adjusting isn’t really much of a surprise.

Sybil is naturally distrustful, and generally assumes that any kindness comes with strings attached. Though cagey around individuals, that distrust is even greater when applied to organizations- Any hierarchy in which she is not in the top rungs is inherently ‘bad’ in her mind.

Biography —
Abilities:
X-Gene Superpower: Optical Transference. Sybil can ‘see’ through eyes that aren’t hers, and even through the images of eyes. This may sound like an incredibly useful and powerful ability, which it certainly is... Or at least has the potential to one day be. The reality, however, is that even though Sybil’s sight is unlimited, her focus isn’t and she’s not nearly as omniscient as she pretends to be.

Practical Limits:

Sybil must be able to conceptualize the eyes she wishes to look through before she can do so. She needs to know what it and its surroundings look like, and she needs to know where it is in relation to her. She can ‘hop’ to an extent to get to where she wants to see, by using one borrowed eye to determine the location and image of the next one, but cannot see through eyes she herself has never ‘seen’ before in some capacity.

  • Accuracy. Sybil sees what the eye she is watching through sees, and no more. She is merely an observer, and cannot change the direction or focus of the eye. Her view is subject to colorblindness, far or near sightedness, or poor depth perception. When using a non-biological eye, she only sees in hues in the color the eye is depicted in. She prefers flat images of an eye, as the rounded plastic eye of a stuffed animal or something similarly dimensioned would give her a distorted, fish-eye view. (She once looked through the eyes of a fly, just for fun, and threw up within five minutes.)

  • Attention. Sybil likes to be thought omniscient, but that’s hardly the truth. Like a desktop screen, there’s only so much space in Sybil’s mind that she can devote to her sight. Opening ‘new windows’ as it were, means she has to reduce the size of the existing windows to keep them all within view. In reality she usually has maybe six ‘scenes’ that she’s actually paying attention to at any given time, and she’s giving the others just enough attention to be aware of them. Eventually she will lose views if she hasn’t actively given them attention, especially ones based in biological eyes because they can move and if she isn’t aware that their location is changing, she will no longer know the eye’s location. Sybil has been working to expand the size of her metaphorical desktop and number of open windows for years, but the progress is much slower than she would like and she seems to have plateaued for the time being.

  • Sleep. Sybil tends not to sleep more than four hours at a time, as she tends to start to lose her windows if she’s unconscious for longer than that. She cannot observe while she is sleeping, so she tends to arrange her naps around her opportunities for spying. She is also more likely to lose windows if she hasn’t actively paid attention to them in some time, and if she has too many open.

  • Spying Through Other Metahumans. Sybil can usually spy through someone without them being aware, this is often not the case for those with powers of their own, or even a regular human who is particularly in tune with their body. Sybil’s presence is generally felt as a slight twinge where the optic nerve connects to the eyeball, and a heaviness in the occipital lobe. These are not painful sensations and are usually very faint, but someone expecting them could notice when they appear. Sybil has been forced out of someone’s vision on occasion, usually only by someone with mental-based powers of their own. Much to her annoyance and frustration.

  • Alterations to an image of an eye. If Sybil is spying through a photo and someone uses a pair of scissors to cut through the eye she is using on that photo, she would seize up and cry out in pain, and lose that window. Same if someone took a knife to a human or animal eye she was using. The eye must actually be damaged, and not just covered, in order to cause pain- Using black paint to conceal the eyes on a photo does render them useless to Sybil, but doesn’t hurt her. Sybil experiences the same level of pain regardless if she is actively using that view or not.

Meta Limits:
As noted above, there are many limitations to what Sybil can see, and it’s actually quite easy to prevent her from learning something, intentionally or not. What I’ve written above is mostly just the highlights of Sybil’s ability and I’m certainly down to explain further if there are any questions! Please let me know if you have any ideas about how Sybil’s abilities can be utilized- or deceived!- to instigate plot.

My basic guidelines for using Sybil’s ability in an RP are 1) she isn’t going to reveal anything specific about other characters or subplots unless I’ve already discussed it with the affected writers in OOC and 2) if we need to create some conflict, Sybil will provide. She is useful that way!

If we (me, an individual writer, the collective group of writers, whoever) decide that Sybil is totally unaware of something (a secret a character has been protecting, that the baddies are preparing to attack, whatever), then she is unaware of it. Sybil is not a respectful character, but I am a respectful writer (or try to be, at least!)

Technical Abilities:
As Oracle's 'apprentice', the older woman has been teaching Sybil an astonishing breadth of things that Barbara Gordon deems 'good to know'. Some of this is obviously related to surveillance and information gathering- Sybil is assigned different corporations or law enforcement agencies whose records she must access in a certain amount of time. She is tasked with designing her own code to filter information or some other goal, to generate spoofed data, to ruin facial recognition programs, to create false identities that hold up to increasing levels of Oracle's scrutiny. When they talk over the phone or online, Sybil and Barbara are almost always playing a game to see who can access the other's system first- Sybil got onto Oracle's computer once. (And her damned mentor had stuck a sticky note over the video camera anyways.)

But Oracle believes in being 'well rounded', so Sybil's lessons have also involved things like learning how to disable the GPS locator on most car models, repair a broken comms piece (okay, several broken comms pieces, where does O get them all?), build her own computer board and restore data from a waterlogged USB.

Sybil is certainly not at Oracle's level yet, and she probably doesn't have the patience to ever be. But her mentor has declared her to be 'proficient', which is as about as strong of praise as Sybil is likely to get. And she recommend Sybil to run H.O.T.'s comms and surveillance, so. She must be doing something well.

Assorted skills:
  • Sybil is ambidextrous, as she never wants to be unable to record what she sees because she is unable to use a hand. She would love to be able to write different things with either hand concurrently, but right now is only able to simultaneously write simple things, like the alphabet.

  • Sybil is a pretty decent artist. She is better at layouts and schematics than people, but her portraits are... Recognizable. If not always flattering.

  • Sybil can lip read in English… To an extent. Less than 50% of a conversation can be understood through lipreading alone, and that drops off further if Sybil doesn’t have a context with which to make educated guess. To say nothing of accents, or people who rush their words. And it isn’t like people who meet up to share clandestine information tend to sit in a circle with their mouths clearly in view.

  • Sybil has excellent spatial awareness, as she prefers to use multiple viewpoints to construct each ‘scene’ she is observing and has been doing so most of her life.

  • Sybil is a decent fighter- If fighting an average person. Her spatial awareness gives her good insight on the reach of someone’s fist, and she uses her ability to ‘cheat’ when fighting by observing herself through her opponent’s eyes and using the half second between when they look where they are going to punch and when they would land the punch to avoid it. Usually she uses her ‘advantage’ to give her time to escape- She likes to think ‘getting away with minimal injury’ is its own sort of win.

Equipment:

  • Guide Cane. Sybil is legally blind, and while she denies it... She does kinda need the cane. This girl does not pay attention to what's in front of her. Also, hers is telescopic and made of steel, which she has used against kneecaps on a few occasions
  • Notebooks, pens and pencils. Sybil is constantly sketching and writing down what she sees, though this is more habit at this point. For important things, she generally uses a secure app she and Oracle designed for voice memos.
  • League level tech equipment. (Once with H.O.T.) Is she excited about this? Yes. Will she admit it? No.


Strengths: Able to multitask and split her focus well | Good with technology, trained to deal with hardware and software issues that might come up during hero-ing

Weaknesses: Any situation in which she has to rely on others | See above for a practical guide to limits/weaknesses of Sybil's X-gene power | People knowing how her power works and thus being able to circumvent it (which is why she has never told anyone how her power works, but Oracle has maybe been able to put a lot of it together)

Asking Sybil about her past isn't a wise idea- Depending on her mood, it might significantly sour her opinion of you. It certainly won't get you answers. Either silence, or grandiose lies.

But if someone had the resources- someone like Barbara Gordon, perhaps- they could do some investigation. Half a year or so before Sybil began advertising her information and surveillance services under the alias 'Oracle' (which is how Sybil's activities showed up on Barbara's radar in the first place) a gang in Los Angeles called the Syndicate was taking down through the combined efforts of local law enforcement and area heroes.

'Mister X' and several of his associates were killed, and others were brought in to face questioning and serve justice. Between the bodies and the prisoners, almost all the gang's notable members were accounted for. The exception was the girl- Young, with dark hair and dark sunglasses, seen in photos at Mister X's side over the course of the last few years.

The loyalty Mr. X inspired in his ‘employees’ meant that very few gave up any information about him or the organization. But a fellow by the name of Jacobs was a bit more loose-lipped. Someone with the resources to gain the classified transcripts from his interrogation might find he said some interesting things about the ‘creepy little brat’.

No, he didn’t know her origins for sure. Mr. X referred to her as his daughter, but they certainly didn’t look related. Jacobs said she’d started living with Mr. X about seven years ago, after the mess with the 32nd Sect of the Church of the Retribution. Bunch of extremist cultists living out in the desert who’d taken the whole 'Church of the Retribution' thing too far and gotten obsessed with curing humanity of 'unnatural' abilities. Nutso-cuckoo, the lot of them, according to Jacobs. They moved some good product, though. But they’d tried to go against Mister X, see, and he’d burned the compound to the ground and took over the operation.

Jacobs was sure that was where the girl had come from, from those cultists out in the desert- She was a right weirdo, and she had some sort of powers, he was certain. With technology or cameras, he figured, which was how Mister X always seemed to know so much. Jacobs was willing to talk, he told them. In exchange for certain favors.

Jacobs never learned if those favors might have been secured for him, and the investigators never learned what else he might have to say. He was found dead in his cell the next day.

This at least, is what Barbara Gordon was able to infer after her extensive research. But that was three years ago, and thanks to Barbara Gordon, similar research can no longer be done. The information is gone.

Instead, 'Sybil Williams' exists. Daughter to a pair of perfectly unremarkable California residents. Unremarkable student, unremarkable life. Only survivor of the car crash that killed her parents when she was 18. The records are all falsified of course, but Oracle is good at her job. Sybil Williams has a birth certificate and a medical history and a bank account and even middle school grades.

That favor- and the agreement that Sybil no longer use the alias 'Oracle'- was the basis of their working relationship and it's grown to something like mutual trust. But that may not be enough for Sybil to thrive in Oracle's world of heroes and heroics.

      Even though Atti seems skinny, he does have some muscle on him, but it doesn't help much because he still looks like a twig ready to be stepped on. No matter how much he eats or exercises or tried to build muscle, nothing works, and he remains as skinny. He tried many times to now know it's going to be a failed attempt before even trying. However, all this exercise did help him toughen up a bit, so even if he does seem like someone you can easily mess with, you probably shouldn't.

    André is most often quite poised in nature, with well-kept clothes and sometimes donning an over comb hairstyle, though he can be seen wearing unkempt clothes depending on the occasion. Not one for formalities much, or social cues for that matter, André essentially doesn't care what someone else thinks of him or how he chooses to present himself, he will dress how he likes and when he likes. He's not there to please others. It's hard for others to guess what he'll wear next, sometimes he'll be seen as formal and neat, other times he forgets to attend to himself (which is often) and wear something casual and informal.

History:
Michael's early years are a bit of a blur. He remembers very little. Lots of light though, white floors, white ceilings, white walls and lots of bright lights. Some time after he was discovered in a crater in the middle of the Antarctic by none other than Superman who was understandably curious about the incident given his own arrival on Earth. Years of research by the League is said to have followed conducted primarily by the more scientifically inclined bunch of the group. Said research is also said to have been thrown out the window upon Michael's first chance encounter with John Constantine who dryly announced: "Yeah, that's an angel alright.". Despite Constantine's expertise on the subject few thought he'd make a good father figure for the boy and so it was decided that Superman would act as a primary mentor to him given the pair's similarities in terms of powers, this also fast-tracked him into a position as one of the Heroes of Tomorrow. Religion has played a key part in his upbringing for better or for worse. The identity of Archangel was attached to him primarily by the media and religious crowds due to his otherwise unexplained origin.

Hero Suit: Her "uniform" is an interesting combination of soft grey leather and carbon fiber armor. Most of the jumpsuit is layers of grey leather zipped, buckled, and belted together to to hug her figure, but perfectly fit carbon fiber armor is easily spotted through gaps and cutouts in the outfit. She wears a carbon fiber mask over her eyes to help hide her identity

Mika's power was never really intrusive. Other heroes and villians became what they are now because there was really no other option. Maybe they lashed out when they got angry and caused one too many deaths or perhaps they had an overwhelming urge to help the little guy every time they walked through the most dangerous streets in the city. But whatever had happened, many other heroes had been forced into the arms of H.O.T. to stay off the most wanted list. Being able to blind an enemy is powerful, but the ability never really felt that way while Mika was growing up. Yes, she always had a leg up when kids played hide and seek and never had much of an issue sneaking in and out of the house as a teen, but her power had never become a problem. She had a relatively normal childhood as the daughter of two middleclass government workers. It was all quite mundane. Even now, her parents house has pictures of her in her high school uniform beside her in superhero uniform hung on their refrigerator.

She graduated from high school and applied to work with H.O.T. while the rest of her friends applied to college. It just seemed like the obvious next step. Mika sees her power the same way that someone with natural musical ability may come to view their art. While it had once been a fun parlor trick, it was now reduced to something only used during her 9 to 5. When she joined H.O.T, she was identified as a perfect sidekick. Mika was someone who wouldn't impose on the image of the hero she was helping and she was organized in ways that the more eccentric heroes may not be. For two years, she worked with some of the older heroes as a scout. Mika often spent a few days staking out a suspected hideout or mapping out a getaway route for the group of more combat-adept heroes who would come in and do the dirty work. When the newer task force was put together, Mika was a quick and easy add. She already knew how missions worked, she had a unique skill set, and she wasn't too hard to get along with. Best of all, the career move came with a pay bump.

Motivations: Eli's biggest motivation is to avoid H.O.T pushing through court cases from his earlier... endeavors. When they let him keep the money he'd stolen, Eli had thought he'd gotten away easy. As he got older he had realized that money was like a knife at his throat. He would never be able to forget what could happen if he slipped up or decided to leave the hero's life.
Personality: Eli is pure energy. He lives in the extreme, always speaking his mind thoroughly and loudly. Though his parents had often tried to tone him down, he would never be anything but wild. Eli is mischievous and troublesome, but hes also kind and thoughtful. He so open that everything and everyone he interacts with leaves their mark on him. Eli is the culmination of every kind word from his mom and every seed of self doubt sown by teachers who didn't know how to deal with him. He is every smile from a friend and every grimace of an enemy.

Biography —
Abilities: Eli is able to bend light. Most often, he uses his ability to make himself invisible but he's been experimenting with focusing beams of light into small lasers and creating illusions. Of course, given his inability to focus on anything he hasn't made much headway on grasping the full potential of his power.
Equipment: Two daggers polished to a mirror finish
Strengths: Eli's strength lies in the quick execution of an attack. In and out. Thats where he got his name "Blink". Ideally, his enemies would never see him for more than a moment before he's somewhere new.
Weaknesses: Eli has trouble focusing on one goal. And while he knows that hes best when he doesn't linger, he has a bad habit of getting sidetracked while working. Whether that means chatting with the cute girl at the front desk when hes meant to be checking in for training or thinking he can get an extra bit of information before extracting, it almost never goes well. His greatest weakness though, is darkness. Without light to bend he is rendered almost powerless. Less light means less power.
Hero Suit: Deep blue with a silver diamond over his chest. He hates masks, so he opts to smudge black makeup across his eyes instead of wearing one.

Eli was the type of kid everyone dreaded dealing with. Teachers never wanted to see his name on their classroom roster, principles never wanted to get a call that he was headed to their office, and his parents always hated when they would need to come pick him up early. Again. He'd dealt with it all; detention, suspension, extra parent teacher conferences, and (of course) expulsion. He was always too loud to speak over or too energetic to teach or too much to handle. In his teacher's defense... all of those things were true. He was too loud, too energetic, too fast, too troublesome, too mischievous, too crass, and all together too much. He was a good kid, his parents would always be assured, he just wasnt a good fit for the school. Or sometimes principals would say that he didn't apply himself as expected by their upstanding institution. Whatever the reason was, Eli found himself on the outs with nearly every school available to him in the area. He was sent to a boarding school that claimed it would set him straight. And they nearly did. They tried to stuff him full of responsibility and respect, but they only succeeded in making him more creative in his illicit activities.

While at boarding school his abilities had begun to show themselves. He snuck around while invisible stealing classmates' pencils and erasers for a while before realizing how much potential he truly had. Eli's grades started looking up when he realized that most teachers kept their test answer key tucked away in the back of their filing cabinets. It would be no easy task for your average student to pull off but taking a quick picture of answers was easy for an invisible man. More importantly, Eli found that the wealthier students were often willing to pay him for the information he was able to provide. Most of the time it was test answers, but he'd done the odd job as well; checking in on a girlfriend suspected of cheating, taking a photo of a friend in an unfortunate position, or setting up a surprise under the nose of a soon-to-be unhappy student.

Eli graduated high school much smarter than he had been. He may not have known much his boarding school had tried to teach him, but he had learned quite a bit. In the years between graduating and becoming "Blink", Eli earned the name "Sticky" for his adept ability to pickpocket wallets off of businessmen. He bounced between a few street gangs, never really finding a group that liked him. As wonderful as his ability was for executing heists and thefts, he was a gentle soul. He always spent days worrying about whoever's wallet he'd grabbed. Often, he would try to find some time to return drivers licenses and insurance cards after spending any cash he'd been able to pocket. It wasn't smart but Eli had thought everything would be fine because of his ability. He figured that if he found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, he could just wrap light around himself as he always did and disappear.

That was how H.O.T caught up to him. In the few years since high school he had racked up several hundred thousand dollars of stolen cash. Eli had never even considered being caught. He'd always felt like what he did was too small scale for REAL heroes to pay any attention to, but everything had caught up to him. Somewhere in the depths of a government building, they had placed a contract in front of him. They offered to wipe his record and ignore the money he had already with understanding that if he committed crime again, they would put him behind bars and keep him there. Eli had broken down at some point during that interrogation, promising that he hadn't meant to do any of it. He'd confessed to everything they accused him of and signed his name in smudged blue ink. No going back now.

Motivations:
Daniel Spencer never liked bullies. He never liked the idea of someone getting away with something just because they could nor is he a fan of anyone or anything putting people down. Most importantly, the man had a heart big enough to care and not stand by while people are in need. He also does not want to have his parents or siblings have any strain be put on them, financially or otherwise. Family and friends are important to him, more so than anything else, and it's the care and love from that focal point of his life that extends and lends towards his current acts of heroism. That and, well, who else is going to do it? It's a cool gig too. And there world can use all the heroes it can get, right?

He's both ecstatic and terrorized by the thought of being a superhero.

His fears as an individual is about never measuring up, always falling short or not being enough to get the job done. In essence, the man fears failure and the constant overwhelming nature of the superhero job. Stepping up into the big-leagues and working within a team should seem like something Danial should be at home with, but the fact these missions are not as simple as scoring a point against the other team, no matter how he would like to think so. The consequences are much more serious and have begun to wear him down, not letting up on him yet. His fears, beyond his control or not, lend him to blaming himself for a loss.
Personality:
Sporting a dry—yet humorous wit and repertoire of remarks, Daniel B. Spencer does not fit into the convention box or stereotype. While cool and level-headed, his casual and relaxed demeanor tends to draw people towards him. His charisma and nonchalance often helps him make fast friends. While little tends to shake him, he can be occasionally caught off-guard but tends to get back on his feet rather quickly. While he has been shown to be sometimes energetic and usually the hype-man of the group, Daniel tends to listen to his friends, and his entire energy tends to grow in proportion to the more people he is able to interact with. In that regard, his quick-thinking and charisma lets him bounce off most personalities, words, and conversations. This same improvisation also helps him in a variety of situations, and it makes him quite the quick problem solver. His patience also showcases itself in dealing with numerous people or listening to them, able to spend the hours away just relaxing with someone to talk to. The young man has also become quite the flirt and can deal with most remarks sent his way with little to no preparation.

Perceptive and clever, Daniel can read a room, and, more importantly, a person. Usually. Sometimes there is a person who catches him off-guard, but he tends to bounce back quickly. Team-minded, Daniel often is able to work in large groups quite well, and he likes to check up and get to know the people in them. His loyalty to his team is important, but his responsibility over them is even more so. The young man is reliable and trust-worthy, and he knows how to exercise discretion and keep a secret, even if he likes to be upfront and honest with people. When working on a problem or on himself, Daniel tends to be critical of himself the most as well as be critical of others. While it may seem a little harsh or too blunt, it usually comes from a place of either respect or care. He can also be trusted to call a situation as it is, and he is more than willing to call out a person on a serious matter if need be.

Daniel likes to learn new information and bits and pieces. If he has a hobby or interest, he will dig into it and learn as much as he can. While some of this knowledge might seem trivial or useless, some of it is quite important and interesting and not just a random fact. This same curiosity also lends to him appreciating chances to learn from and listen to his friends, always happy to accept outside input as long as it is constructive. His attention-span and proclivity to become too focused or daydream has happened a few times, especially if he is communication to his alien friend Itsy. As smart and attentive as he can be, Daniel can become hyper-focused on the wrong idea or aspect of a situation and/or person. This sometimes happens as a sort of defense mechanism when overwhelmed.

In combat or life-threatening situations, Daniel Spencer can become more nervous—although he tries to hide this fact by either speaking out loud to himself to ease his nerves or by keeping quiet with the occasional dry remark. That or he tries and hyper-focuses on something or someone else. However, more recently, panic attacks and anxiety have been hitting him hard, even resulting in a terrible stutter. While he hides this part of himself privately, Daniel Spencer is alarmed all the same by this recent development. There is also the fact he can become a little too aggressive in combat without him even noticing.

Itsy, the alien symbiote that is attached to Daniel, sports a bit of a different outlook than its human companion. It puts its survival as well as the survival of its host as its top priority. It is very protective of Daniel, especially during his panic attacks, and does not like to be touched by anyone other than its host. However, it is interested in Earth culture and has been joining Daniel on reading and learning all sorts of new subjects. Although, it does not find itself bound to Earth laws and customs and all their other silly little habits. While it would rather its host not be as altruistic or risking his life as much as he does, Itsy admires his resilience and heroism, even though it worries it may be slowly tearing him down on the inside. It can and will be be extremely hostile to friend and foe alike if it thinks itself or its host is being harmed or in potential danger.

Abilities:
Daniel B. Spencer displays limited fighting and technical abilities as the young man is the regular sophomore in college aside from the fact he is college athlete, well-versed student, and occasional superhero or vigilante. His brief stints fighting crime and tracking down crooks is aided by the small bits and pieces of knowledge regarding the work his father does as a detective.. Whatever Daniel Spencer does not know already, he is more than willing to learn, one way or another. Although, his intuition and brains often lead him to trying to figure things out with a manual, and, surprisingly enough or not, it often works out well enough. He also knows facts and bits of information from a little of everywhere, but his knowledge does not extend much from there.

His style of fighting stems from his childhood experience in gymnastics before progressing to high school football and soccer. His rapid movements and agile leaps and bounds send him flying and ping-ponging from opponent to opponent, and his hit-and-run tactics stem from avoiding being shot at or drawing attention towards himself. His boxer-esque punches, tackles, and kicks come from his dad teaching him a little bit of how to fight. His superhuman abilities and football career help him keep track of enemies and clock threats, discerning them from least urgent to most urgent. Otherwise, everything else regarding his fighting style, martial arts, and skills is due to sheer improvisation or what he has seen on movies or TV. His recent inspirations have been Bruce Lee films and other martial art films as well as watching YouTube videos on fighting and street-fighting. He has also been practicing gymnastics and free-running to better traverse urban environments and make better use of his agility.

The alien, on the other hand, sports more experience on the matters of physical combat and contains knowledge and experience of previous hosts. While it has this knowledge, it is still learning about earth and its culture as well as its superheroes and villains. It sports a sort of sentience, although it strictly is only able to communicate in thoughts, feelings, and images. It is unable to communicate with words, instead using these other avenues of communication.

History:
Born and raised in New York City, Daniel B. Spencer is the son of Nathaniel Spencer and Mary Spencer and older brother to younger sisters Anna and May Spencer. Growing up in a suburban household and going to school, Daniel Spencer was the average kid in the 2040s. He briefly took up gymnastics at the suggestion of his mother before moving on to learn the guitar. In high school, Daniel Spencer moved on towards playing football, but the young man never made it off the bench. No matter what his family told him, Daniel wanted something more than just making it by. Still, life kept moving forward and Daniel had to move with it.

His father worked in the NYPD as a detective while his mother worked shifts as a nurse. This led to Daniel Spencer being the man of the house in a way, needing to look after his sisters while his parents were busy. A lot of responsibility for the young man, or at least it seemed so at the time, but he kept up with it. It was during the school trip to S.T.A.R. Labs and LexCorp funded research facilities that changed everything. One of the science spiders, experimented on in an attempt to create a particular venom that cure cancer and a host of other terminal illnesses, bit the young man and its radioactive and altered enzymes caused a number of changes.

These changes were not immediate. It took a few days before Daniel had to call in sick. He collapsed in his own home. His parents took him to the hospital. Everything seemed fine. Daniel knew it was not. Something was changing in him. Something had already happened. It was not long before he discovered he could crawl walls, run faster, leap higher, punch through brick and bend steel with his bare hands. His senses operating at a focus so high he could swear he could almost see into the ultraviolet spectrum and hear and feel the heartbeats of people around him.

He tried to focus through it, use his powers for sports. For a while, everything went well. It was until his spider-sense began telling him there was danger nearby, at the same labs that he had received his spider bite from. The young man ran towards the scene before stopping and found a supervillain attacking. Someone screamed. Daniel could not remember who it was that screamed, but it certainly got his legs moving again. All he remembered was his fists and feet flying into action against some C-list punk that did not think he'd get any trouble. How could he expect any? It was supposed to be a quick in-and-out job. Something broke, a container in the crook's hands. Whatever it was he was trying to steal.

Whatever was inside leapt out and began crawling on Daniel. He barely remembers the whole event. All he knows is the police picked up the guy who was badly bruised but otherwise alright and in custody. All civilians could report was a black and white figure swinging away. Daniel got home and crashed on the bed. The moment he woke, he found a new thoughts in his head. Safe to say, Daniel freaked out and spent the next few days trying to figure out what exactly was happening. His new alien friend was given the name Itsy by Spencer, partly because the alien's own name was too long to remember and pronounce and also because it helped make the situation a whole lot less scary for about two seconds. For a couple more weeks, Daniel focused on school and sports, on his hobbies and his friends. But between his spider-sense and alien friend, this whole new series of events would not let up. He even found himself leaping into action, trying to help people. And, finally, a certain realization dawned on him.

He could not keep it in any longer.

He told his parents everything. For a while, it was even kept from his sisters, but they learned soon enough as well. But Daniel had no plan to become a superhero, especially with the worry it could put his family through. His family decided to keep the whole matter within the four walls of their home. Daniel kept playing, intent to use his powers to score a scholarship and make sure his parents would not have to worry about college.

It was easier said than done. Daniel found himself involved in more heroics, following in the footsteps of heroes he saw on TV. These were brief stints, small acts of neighborhood kindness. And, one day, there was a situation brewing live on TV. A situation where he could help. He told his parents he had to go. He could help. Just this once. It was happening in the city, and there were other superheroes on the scene. Everything would be okay.

And so the Venomous Spider-Boy leapt into action, and the cameras were rolling. And he was not half-bad. Not bad at all. And the whole world got a good look at him.

Afterwards, the young and budding superhero was invited into the Heroes of Tomorrow Initiative. After discussion with the heroes there and his own family as well as a deal made that they would cover his schooling and education needs in exchange for his participation, Daniel Spencer accepted. He could do good work like his parents, and he could an example to his sisters. To follow their dreams and to do the right thing.

If only it were as simple as that, right? If only. Well, at least this would be like moving to a new school or college. Let's hope this Initiative picked somewhere nice for him to stay.

HISTORY: Reginald was his slave name. And, it was a name he did not wear with pride. The Master of the plantation named him when he was born, his parents did not even have that right. His momma worked in the house, a cook and helper to the Lady of the House. His daddy worked in the field, strong even against the blaring sun that beat all of their backs.

    Dark, curly, and generally tangled. His current dye color of choice is green, which fades with every wash as the roots grow out. He cuts and colors it himself, so the ends tend to be split and uneven.

    Reese has a slim build, with thin legs and narrow shoulders. He has a hard time building and maintaining muscle mass, not that he's ever put much effort into doing so. Instead, his body is mostly made up of bony limbs and a soft stomach.

    He has a tiny hole just below his mouth from where his lip ring used to be. He also has a hole in each of his earlobes. They are slightly larger than what might be standard for a normal piercing, as they are the remnants of a failed attempt to stretch his lobes in middle school. The left side of his torso, over his ribs, is dedicated to stanzas of tattooed song lyrics from bands he still swears he’ll never grow out of.
