Guardian angels have stepped up their process a whole bunch. Not every angel is a guardian angel, and not every guardian angel is assigned to only one human or a human at all. Yes, you heard that right. Some demons can even have guardian angels in the rarest of cases. Angelic society is surprisingly divided. Those chosen to be guardian angels live in a mini city within the major angelic city, Holi. A guardian angel caught out of their mini city could face major repercussions, but regular angels are able and encouraged to visit the mini city of guardian angels.
There is a massive database run by Dominions (even higher ranked angels) that decides what category of "cases" you work with. Whether that be cases regarding animals (saving them from abusive homes or finding them good homes), cases regarding humans, or cases regarding nonhuman humanoid creatures (demons, fae, etc.). Cases regarding humans/nonhuman humanoids are divided even further into physical cases or psychological cases. Every guardian angel is trained to handle one specific type of case, and is only assigned that one case.
Plot ideas and extra information below. If you like what you're reading, I encourage you to finish reading the thread!
OOC Thread
In extremely rare cases, even regular angels can end up with guardian angels.
People who do not believe in Catholicism have guardian angels in this universe. Angels are entirely disconnected from Catholicism in this universe. There is no overarching God, just ascending ranks of angels. Angels do not look like those scary "biblically accurate" angels either (lol), they are humans with wings and a few extra powers which I'll get into later.
Guardian angels are typically regarded as celebrities by other angels because they do so much work for the common good.
Angels typically live far longer than humans, but age at the same rate as them before finally completing physical/mental aging at 21.
Angels start training to become guardian angels at age 10 and can train from anywhere from 5 years to 10 years.
To be chosen to be a guardian angel, an Archangel (a retired guardian) must recommend you to study to be one. To retire, you need to have been a guardian for at least 5 years. Retired angels live in a special ward of the guardian angel's mini city. Archangels can leave the mini city without repercussions.
The angelic city, Holi, extends as far as the horizon goes. The city is infinitely large.
To become an angel, you must die. Sounds super hard, right? Becoming an angel essentially gives you a second life. If you mess that up, that's when you become a demon.
Regular angels have wings and very limited "immortality" (they don't die of old age). Guardian angels, in their initiation ceremony, are given heightened senses, quickened healing, and massive injury resistance. Angels can also breathe in low oxygen levels (hence why they live so up high).
What I've outlined is essentially just a universe, and traits about the universe. Now, lots of things could happen in this universe. If this gets enough traction I'll see if I can get this to be a multithread thing, but at the moment the plot that garners the most excitement is the one we do!
Plot Idea #1
A Dominion goes corrupt /or/ their system malfunctions, and begins sending angels trained for one type of case into cases they're not trained to handle. This could have major repercussions on earth, and not as many in the angelic city because the Dominions refuse to have contact with the angels.
I see this going in multiple ways:
A group of guardian angels figures out what the heck is going wrong and forces themselves to get into contact with the Dominions.
A group of guardian angels works together to help each other out with cases, disregarding the whole system altogether.
Plot Idea #2
A group of guardian angels is disgusted by the lack of communication they have with their superiors and rebel. Do they succeed, do they fail?
Plot Idea #3
What if we played around with the idea of "failed" guardian angels? Angels that get injured during a case, angels that cause trouble on earth, or angels that completely fail a case or make it worse? They'd obviously be even more secluded than the regular guardian angels are. They'd be kept in an isolated part of the mini city, and we could explore that aspect of it. How are these angels treated? Nobody will find out if they're mistreated, so what if they are mistreated? Do they rebel, or do they submit? Do they force a facade of submission and then reveal their true plans? What if someone finds out about the mistreatment?
Plot Idea #4
A human gets into the guardian angels' mini city. A group of guardian angels try to hide them from the Dominions. Chaos ensues.
Plot Idea #5
The story would take place between a group of training angels. One by one, they go corrupt. This could be merged with plot idea #3, just to make it longer. How do they corrupt? Why do they corrupt? What do they do when their friends go corrupt?
I wanted to shove some pictures here to give you visuals for what the cities would look like.
Regular angels would live in apartments styled like this, but the ground would be made of a soft, cloudlike substance. There also wouldn't be any cars nor plants. The houses would be white as well.
The major city areas (there are 7), all look similar to New York City's times square, in the USA. They'd be bustling with angels, all doing the things they love. There is no currency, but things are doled out in rations. Most things come from vending machines that refill magically. Things from books to food are served from vending machines to make sure you only get the amount you need.
The mini-city would be like an extremely large mall, entirely isolated from the outside city, Holi. There would be visiting areas in the center of the mall, as well as places for entertainment.
Guardian angels would live in "capsules", similar to capsule hotels in Japan, if they were off from a case.
- No one-liners. If you don't know how to respond to a post, come talk with us instead of throwing a one-liner at us. Preferably at least a decent paragraph (9-10 sentences) per response, but you won't be chided for doing a little less.
- Please, please respond at least once a week unless otherwise stated to the group. If gone for 2 weeks without any information given to the group, your character will be removed from the roleplay.
- No over powered characters.
- No characters that are entirely flaws. Everyone has good traits too.
- The password is seraphim!
- No godmodding, metagaming, bleh bleh bleh you know the drill. Don't try and control the plot.
- communication! Let us know if you're going on a hiatus or something! We'll work with you!
- Be willing to work with others (I hope you're not looking at a group roleplay thread and not wanting to work with others).
- Be respectful OOC.
- Don't take things personally: if your character says something mean to another character, it should not be said with malicious intent towards another player and the other player should not take it as a direct attack.
- If you have a problem with anything, reach out to me and me specifically. I'll work with you!
