You have to write at least 10 messages before you can actually start a conversation with a person but they can start it with you. Best to just go to the introductions and say hello to 10 different people. There is also a 24 hour wait :/

You just browse the forums and join any rps that you find interesting, except 1on1s, those you need to have prearranged. Basically just click on intriguing titles, what kind of roleplays in particular are you looking for?
