personality: Jinx deals in extremes. She feels and reacts to events in her life either intensely or not at all, a feature about her personality that not even she herself can predict. It is very clear to others when she considers something unfavorable to her goals, her face showing nearly every thought that transpires through her. As expected, sheโ€™s not very great in situations that require subtlety and hidden motives. Outwardly she is very talkative and easy to get along with. She thrives off of being around others and engaged in playful conversation. The small doses of companionship make her feel like she belongs to something. She is adaptable to differing views in groups, shifting her opinions fluidly to best fit in with what the majority consensus is. As expected, it is hard for her to form her own opinion or separate herself out as something standalone from the people she surrounds herself with.

Fun and enjoyment in her life are main priorities. If Jinx gets too bored or comfortable in her position, she becomes restless and seeks out new interests, even ones with self destructive risks. Her wants and needs will change on a whim, something new popping up every several weeks to take the place of what she views to be her โ€˜dream lifeโ€™ or ideal goal. Jinxโ€™s moral compass is shifty at best. The morality of something is not the first concern on her mind, rather, she is drawn to the interest it has over her and the acceptance she receives in participating. Terrified of judgment from the public and how her power is viewed, Jinx is desperate for acceptance, no matter the source. Her self worth is deeply tied to how integrated she feels in the current group she surrounds herself with. Without companionship or group approval, she is liable to regard herself with very little worth of importance.

power: Psychic link. Upon ingesting blood from another, Jinx can temporarily link minds with that person, accessing all of their thoughts, feelings and desires. She can also feel physical conditions such as pain, sickness, hunger, etc. The duration of her power is affected by the amount of blood she is able to ingest.

Power subset: immune to ailments passed through blood

strengths: When activated, her power gives her a combat edge. She feels and thinks everything her opponent does, including their current injuries and thoughts of risk and failure, using those things to dodge or counter their moves. It is less effective against individuals with more combat based powers.

If unsure of someoneโ€™s motives going into a deal, Jinx usually asks to seal the deal with their blood, allowing her a completely unfiltered look into that person's motives and intentions in the moment.

weaknesses: Drawing blood from her opponents tends to be a challenge, especially if that person is aware of Jinxโ€™s power.

Physical strength. She is not very strong, relying on training and weaponry to close the gap in her combat ability. Her power is not combat based either, making her lose an edge against those with strong combat enhancing powers.

Non-committal. If Jinx feels that she is on the losing side of a fight or battle, she will prioritize herself and escape or sacrifice another if necessary.

โ€” HISTORY.
Jinx grew up in the rougher areas of Heartbeat City. Her mother had Jinx at a young age, forcing her into multiple jobs with long hours and minimal wages in order to provide what she could for the both of them. They lived in a small apartment with thin walls which leaked the sounds of life emanating from the neighbors surrounding them. When Jinx was younger she had asked her mother why it was that she could hear so much through the walls, her mother spinning a quick explanation that has stuck with her to this day. โ€œThey named it Heartbeat city because of how connected we are to each other. Every conversation, emotion, even the heartbeat of those around usโ€”we feel it.โ€ As a child, Jinxโ€™s eyes lit up at this thought. After, when her mother would leave for work, leaving Jinx to care for herself in her absence, Jinx no longer felt alone. Every sound she heard from within her apartment she considered a part of her life. Every laugh, every conversation. Even the bad things too, sounds of arguments, crashing furniture and broken glass.

Jinxโ€™s education was spotty at best, she and her mother constantly moving from one seedy apartment to the other as the years slipped by. She didnโ€™t gain many friends, but it was easy for her to adapt to the new groups each switch in school thrust her into. Jinx was talkative and likable, her opinions and views easily molded by those around her. She learned about the change when she was in school, but it was something half paid attention to, the notes passed around in class much more important than whatever the teacher had to say. Knowledge of heroes, powers and the regulation once developing a power were fog in the back of her brain. Most people in her life regarded the census with cynicism, criticizing the heroes that advocated for justice while crime still ran rampant through the streets they called home. They were still recovering from the chaos that ensued from the beginning of the change, and being the ones who suffered most, they were less than enthusiastic to see those who prospered.

Jinx was 12 when she first came into contact with her power. Her mother was cooking dinner after a long shift, her eyes weary and her concentration slack. She nicked herself while cutting potatoes, Jinx rushing over to help when she heard the cry in pain. Almost as if in a trance, instead of grabbing something to blot away her motherโ€™s blood Jinx swiped it away with her finger and tasted it. Immediately she could tell there was something off. She heard every thought in her motherโ€™s head, the bills that were due at the end of the month, the stress she was shedding off from a long day at work--all of it. Both her and her mother were terrified of the idea that Jinx had now developed a power, one especially that could be seen in a negative light. Useful powers that became known in the area they lived in only funneled straight into the Hell Hounds, there was no negotiating it. Unwilling to risk losing her daughter to the dangerous life tangled within the Hell Hounds, her mother insisted they speak of this event between them to no one, especially during the census.

The rest of Jinxโ€™s childhood passed by without incident. Like any normal teenager coping with a system that failed them, Jinx opted to skip classes and explore the city with friends. She was mesmerized by the pulsing life that Heartbeat City offered her, the parties, luxury goods and excitement. Petty crimes interspersed themselves through their adventures, shoplifting and vandalism skills that Jinx began to develop.

As she grew older, her cynicism of the system began to grow. She saw the suffering of her mother sacrificing her body and life just to provide a roof for the both of them and food to eat while the wealthy flaunted by with too much to spend in a lifetime. Jinx began to grow bitter from it, seeing no issue when her friends began speaking about things such as the Hell Hounds and rogue vigilantes that stood against the prestigious hero institution the city funneled money into. Jinx knew that she did not want a life like her motherโ€™s, signing her life away to hard labor just to exist. She wanted luxury, ease and fun. So she began to look at her power in a different light. What it could do for her, how she could get ahead.

In the beginning, she marketed herself to others as a mediator in a contract, ensuring her clients that no ill will would befall them from hidden intentions of the other side. It was clean work that paid enough to provide her with somewhere to live, but not enough to satiate her growing desire for the finer excitements the city offered. Anything deeper would be dangerous, so Jinx began investing portions of her money from serving as a contract mediator to fund her training in combat and weaponry. Her favored choice of weapon became knives, the easiest way for her to activate her powers. Jinx practiced and trained herself for several years before diving into more dangerous contracts that involved the Hell Hounds. She took up jobs from them on a contract basis, doing anything from information extraction to screening members to check for potential rats.

Currently, Jinx does well for herself. She lives in a nicer side of Heartbeat City, able to fund her lavish and excitable lifestyle. Sheโ€™ll take work from anyone who offers a high enough price, even those not involved in organized crime. Sheโ€™s found a prolific niche in businessmen conducting under the table contracts. As an undocumented power, her services are discreet and untraceable. Jinx has begun to question her original choice for dodging the census, but now too many years into it, fears the consequences of turning herself in now. Her bitterness towards heroes and the wealthy have faded since her youth, and she regards those who market themselves to serve justice in a neutral light. She doesnโ€™t hate them, but she simply doesnโ€™t understand the selfless attitude and moral purity they strive for.

Like most kids, Chase grew up with the potential to be a contributing member of society. Walking old ladies across the street. Saving cats out of trees. Never littering. And using paper straws to save the sea turtles. Unfortunately, life had other plans for Chase. His lack of a parental figure left him with a bevy of trust issues. So he doesnโ€™t allow himself to get close to anyone. That being said, he lives life to the fullest. His upbeat and charismatic attitude make him the life of the party. His intelligence and prowess for self-preservation keep him afloat. His masked self-confidence issues and fear of failure keep trying to pull him under.

Born and bred in Heartbeat Cityโ€”at least he thinks he was born here. He was left on the doorstep of the local firehouse. Unfortunately for him, the firemen were either too old or just had their own kids and that sent Chase straight to the orphanage. He bounced around from foster home to foster home to foster home.

Fast-forward to Chase turning thirteen. Hair growing in strange places. Mood swings. Voice changing. Boys and Girls stopped having cooties. Oh, and Chase discovered that he had special abilities. He was ecstatic and spent most of his waking hours honing and perfecting his gift. He had always wanted to be a superhero, like most kids, but like always, life had a different path planned out. His skills came in handy with back alley card sharks and unsuspecting store owners when Chase needed food or clothes or a new Rolex he could sell for cash. He spent his formidable years surviving the only way he knew how: take what you want and donโ€™t get caught.

Eventually, he aged out of the system and left to figure out how he was going to survive without a roof over his head. Upping the stakes, Chase took to more profitable heists to secure himself a small studio apartment in the city. He hasnโ€™t done anything too big as of yet, but after a string of a few jewelry heists, heโ€™s been dubbed Dodger. A name he wears with pride.

Chase has perfect control over his muscles and perfect coordination between his thoughts and his actions. Reflexes, balance, reaction time and aim are all heightened. His muscle control allows him to have focused bursts of immense strength, but it only lasts for a short time. They are a shapeshifter. As long as they've seen the organic material they can shapeshift into it. They can shapeshift into smaller beings, but they cannot become something that is bigger than them. So no, they can't shapeshift into a sickass dragon but they can do a bearded dragon. Robots are out of question as well. This ability includes people. However, they don't become that person and they don't sound like that person. Just because they shapeshift into someone with a sickass ability doens't mean they have it. Shapeshifting takes energy. Which means Mars will not be skipping any meals any time soon.​

Similar to darkvision, Mars is able to seen in darkness 120 feet around them. Like cats, they have an abundance of rod cells in their eyes and have a mirror layer in their eyes. In other words, they are able to see well in the darkness and track smaller quicker movements (i.e. an annoying fly). With multiple eyes, their field of view is much larger, instead of a typical humans being 180 degrees, they are about to see 200 degrees around them. Despite all this, they are are unable to see red-orange hues of colors, in a sense making them red-green colorblind.​

Mars sense of smell is better than humans as well. With 40 times more odour-sensective cells, their sense of scent is much more related to a cat's. Most of the time they use it to help find food or sniff out if anyone is nearby. They are able to distinguish the differences between smells and able to pinpoint an accurate estimation of where it is. However, their nose is prone to strong fragrant smells, which can leads to them getting a headache or having a harder time distinguishing smells.​

Hearing is also not a problem for them either. Their ears move as they listen, easily pointing out who and what they might be listening to. They have an easier time pinpointing where a sound is coming from and are able to hear about 2 yards further then typical humans. Secrets are hard to keep from them, but it's easy to tell when they might be listening to you. A good way to interrupt this is a loud sudden noise which can spook them if they are not expecting it.​

Mars didn't really know about their family. They'd assumed that their parents were just victims of the Change and had to do what they needed to do to survive and that meant selling them for a quick buck. They were sold to a traveling fair who decided that recently changed individuals made for good attractions. Certain abilities allowed for them to give a false illusion of danger and excitement and it made for easy money. Sure, some people lost control and death was a constant, but a simple rebrand and relocation hid the dirty truth.​

As a young kid they figured out pretty quick that they could shapeshift and they often preferred to be an animal then a person. It was easy to market Mars as a baby tiger or bear to gain the trust of parents who wanted to snag a picture of their kid with dangerous wildlife. Unlike most, they were comfortable with their abilities. They used it often and quickly learned the drawbacks of shifting into different forms. They were always hungry growing up and they blame the fact that they only ever took interest in carnivores as to why their diet was as restricted as it was today. Not only that, but they found that being cute animals made it easier to get away with things. Pick pocketing was easier because who would expect an animal to do that? Eventually they started to take to copying people often to mock them.​

Eventually, the reputation of the fair caught up and a heist was put in place. After the owners were arrested and the kids they collected over the years went into foster care when Mars was 13. Mars jumped around a lot simply because they were a lot to handle. They were in constant trouble and tended to cause fights among their new placements. They were good at finding out secrets and it was fun to watch as they laid it all out. They enjoyed school and lavished in getting good grades a good way to prove to everyone that they were better than them despite their upbringing. Despite this, adults often tried to discipline Mars and most of the time it didn't work. Mars was tired of the rules. When they turned 16 they opted to sign for their own guardianship.​

The world was different for Mars after that. They didn't have a place to call home and they had to figure out how to feed themselves. So they took up work at a local Cafe and took morning and evening shifts. It allowed them to crash at the Cafe while it was closed and then wake up to start their shift as well as give them time during the day to finish up their school. They didn't have to worry about rent doing this and it allowed them to save up money which they wanted to use for college. Eventually they were caught spending the night when the owner went to check the cafe for maintenance. Caught red handed, Mars had to explain themselves to the owner who by luck was understanding.​

That night they got a new job as the owner showed off the studio apartment above the cafe that needed repairs. The deal was that as long as Mars made good grades, covered their shifts, and fixed the studio- they could live there rent free. It was a great outcome and they didn't take advantage of it. They finished the repairs and graduated high school, however things didn't go as planned.​

College was a lot more expensive than they thought and after an unforeseen medical emergency their savings for college was gone. A cafe job alone wasn't enough to cover so they took up some illegal business. Acting as a spy for anyone who'd pay them enough.​

Currently, they are a freelancer for hire as they try to finish their college degree.​

while diavolo is able to change into a different person, he doesnโ€™t get any of their attributes. an example of this is if he turned himself into a big, muscular personโ€” if he himself isnโ€™t strong, he doesnโ€™t just get strength because of his new body choice. itโ€™s all just cosmetic, which can be a bit of an issue depending on who he is mimicking.
since he is able to change other people's appearances, he can only do it for about 30 minutes and the only way he can alter their appearance is by some kind of bodily connection. by that it means the person needs to have either his blood or some kind of bodily fluid; example could be from kissing, touching his sweat, sex, ingesting his blood or touching another persons open wound with his own blood.. things of that nature. when he does that, tbd must be near the individual he just turned because if he isnโ€™t within a certain amount of feetโ€” they will turn back into their original appearance.
can be forcibly altered back to his original appearance if he is under a mass amount of stress, pain or extremely loud noises.

Those that are of pure gold, ones of pure innocents and justice are immune to thiago's will breaking; as their pure heart and innocents are seen as the number one virtue to thiago, especially in this day and age. This also goes along with his fear inducement, those that are fearless and have overcome their worst fear arenโ€™t as affected as others; sometimes the use of his power can even help them overcome that fear, making the ability now useless.

RELATIONSHIPS:
REDACTED, father: the twins have no contact with their father after they escaped the cult, he was a terrible person who inflicted terrible suffering upon his youngest children. He is the reason they suffer so much now as adults, a monster who they call their dad.

the twins were brought into a family of satanic worshippers, born from a mother that tried to sacrifice them to the devil near the fireplace but was beaten down before she could set the babies aflame. while some believe that killing off their flesh and blood is to be a way to elevate ones status in the eyes of satan, the birth of the twins were seen as a moment of relief. a moment in which their family could rest as they finally were able to produce a child with a giftโ€” but two? the clan was a over joyed, especially their father. the tyrant of a man finally had children worth taking over the reigns of their cult when their own father was unable to lead. expectations were placed upon the blonde babies the moment they took their first breath and there was no escaping it.

a life that can only be described as horrendous, a life that seemed to hold a key into how they become such a master tormentor. they had no other life and while growing up they believed the way they lived was normal and that those that didnโ€™t follow their family were the strange ones, how people make a face of pure terror when they hear the name Mephistopheles. the mephistopheles cult was known for their anti-government, anti-hero propaganda who answered to a higher being similar to that of a demon, they viewed themselves as gods.

baby kisses were replaced with pin needles, story books filled with cotton candy clouds and fluffy unicorns were replaced by haunting tales of demons and the gates of hell, a place that they were taught to be perfect. a place that they would be lucky to get into, rewarded with doing the acts of which satan himself vowed to do. A little baby harden by the absent of love and kindness, their souls were shattered the moment they could talk and was nothing more than a barbaric gentlemen. whips and chains were their nightly embrace, a hot cattle brand was imprinted into their flesh when they struck the age of ten as a sign of loyalty to their father, a man who only saw his children as pawn to his great empire. diavolo had gotten the worst of their fathers anger, as their dad viewed his abilities as lesser then to his younger brotherโ€” who he still saw as a disappointment with how the man acted, he didnโ€™t see thiago as a man at all and because of that, he was given a lot more physically demanding chores. over the course of their life time, they were beaten, prodded, humiliated and touched inappropriately by older members of the compound. they were treated like slaves yet seen as the chosen ones at the same time-- they didn't understand how that could even happen, but it did.

by the time the boys reached the age of sixteen, they had already come up with a plan to escape the compound. it took a lot of planning and work but one faithful night, a night where the compound came together and drank lots of homemade wine, partied and had orgies-- they were all to occupied to notice the boys slipping away. thankfully because of his ability, diavolo was able to transform both he and thiago into their parents; stupid, drunk cultist's wouldn't have known the wiser. by the time everyone knew that they had gone, it would have been to late, the boys were long gone and were never turning back. they were finally free of the abuse and mayhem, they didn't care that they had to sleep on the streets and steal to survive.

the start of their killing came shortly after their escape, thiago had been beaten up pretty badly by some drug addict thinking he had money- diavolo had gone into a blind fury and stabbed the man to death with his own knife. something in him clicked, seeing the 'bad guy' dead on the ground, chocking on his own blood as he watched him take his final breaths... it made him realize what he... what they were meant to do. all those years of being abused, it was to shape them into saviors; to kill off those who dared to hurt an innocent soul, get revenge for those who couldn't. when the 'hero's' wouldn't get their hands dirty, the twins were there to do it. the pair of them hated the idea of hero's; they begged and pleaded for years for someone to come and help them but no one came, no one good came and got them from that prison and after seeing the mayhem that happens on the streets, how no one was down here getting rid of the filth, they knew what they had to do.

Background
Born into a wealthy family of elites, life started out quite well for young Grant White. Until the Change, when Grant's powers developed along with the rest of the world. Mortified, his parents made him suppress his powers and hide them from everyone to protect their prestigious family name. It worked, for a little while and though his family still treated him like an outcast, their picture perfect appearances were kept up.

While the Change brought much destruction, it brought the White family fortune. Mr. White was a powerful politician, made more popular by his anti-powered lobbying and policy. To keep his public image intact, Allen White would beat his son if he so much as slipped up and used his powers, even in the privacy of their own home. The White family was able to hide their son's mutation until he was sixteen, when a classmate started a fight with Grant that ended up with the former in the hospital after Grant unleashed his pent up powers.

The incident was a giant scandal for the White family, and Grant was sent to a military academy to get him out of the public eye. The moment Grant turned eighteen, he applied to the Audax Corde academy and eventually earned his hero certification. His flashy moves, charming charisma, and swift dealings with villains quickly got the publics eye on him.

It wasn't long before Cryogen became a well known public hero, one loved by many. He played directly into the media attention, wrapping them around his finger. Despite his picture perfect public appearance, Grant harbored hatred in his heart for the non-powered people who had oppressed him and the others their whole lives. He hated the way they used the powered individuals as tools, as puppets to their whims.
