Guild QuestAre you strong enough?
Welcome to Guild Quest!
Guild Quest is DeltaScale's newest game built from the ground up, using a brand new deepdive game engine. Guild Quest is a state of the art open-world, DDMMORPG (Deepdive, massively-multiplayer-online, roleplaying game). Because of our new deepdive engine you'll actually be able to send your conscious mind into the game. Once inside, you'll actually feel like you're there. We've coded and replicated all of the human senses into the game! So yes, you'll be able to actually feel and touch things, you'll also be able to taste and smell food - like we said, you'll actually feel like you're there. Our NPC's (non-player character) have top of the line coding. We've infused them with brand new AI (artificial intelligence) integration, so every NPC will think and behave the same way as an actual human. Honestly, with the help of some very talented coders, we've been able to build our world from the ground up! What we mean by that is, our coders have coded the game with a feature (many other DDMMO's have this) known as Time Alteration. We can speed up the time, in game! So we coded NPC-AI babies and had our staff go inside Guild Quest and raise them. We taught them language and gave them books to read on how to survive. After awhile these babies managed to birth civilization! It is truly a miraculous thing we can do! These NPC-AI's have absolutely no idea they're in a game. To them it is similar to what real life is to us!
The main purpose of Guild Quest is to join a guild and compete with other guilds! The strongest guilds in the world of Guild Quest run and determine everything, they're basically the government. Guilds start out with a small plot of land. Guilds can decide what they wish to do with this land, most start their own villages and towns, promising those who live under them protection from bandits and monsters - while also charging tax. To get more land you'll have to compete with neighboring guilds! Cities will sometimes require more than one Guild to run it so alliances aren't off the table! The main guild of these cities often host tournaments, with the stronger guilds getting a place in their city! The opportunities - and battles - are truly endless.
We offer all the traditional RPG mechanics, you'll be able to choose between a large array of classes and races and level up a multitude of skills. Because this new deepdive technology has been in the spotlight before because of controversy (because people are afraid of data hacking and memory/sensory alteration), we've included a lot of fail-safe features. Both your mind and your character(s) will be stored on our servers and will have the utmost protection from hackers and other malware (you can read more into this under our terms and conditions). So, most of all, don't forget to have fun! Nothing can go wrong.
But something did go wrong. Horribly wrong. Things were good at first, but as hackers learned the deepdive code... well... the world of Guild Quest became reality. Hackers began to do small things, they'd mess with game mechanics, some would steal player gold, but some... some had other plans.
Most of all, don't forget to have fun!
Nothing can go wrong.

October 15th, 2206 - Total World Population is 12 billion
Almost 20 million players world-wide were logged into Guild Quest. Suddenly without warning hackers cut the link from reality and Guild Quest servers, severing the minds of those still inside from reality. Instantly all the host bodies died, while all the 20 million players that still had their minds inside, were trapped forever. During this process somehow something was broken... Maybe it was a security fail-safe that was triggered, maybe the work of the same hackers... but the game developers could no longer gain access to the game/dev/admin controls anymore. They can't update servers, they can't peak inside and monitor the situation. They lost complete and total control, the only thing the game developers can do is maintain the outside server boxes and keep them online. 20 million lives, lost forever, inside Guild Quest.
After this date, and after countless failed attempts to extract the minds or enter the game and give the players items to help them survive... the servers housing the 20 million minds were moved to a secure location, connected to backup generators. There they will rest, forever. Guild Quest, a horrible accident and the end of deepdive technology.
Life InsideThis is starting to get a little too real...
It wasn't a game anymore. This is real life now, at least to the players trapped inside. The only thing that reminded those trapped inside that it was still a game was the UI (user interface). The user interface was still there, but some things changed. They can no longer use the UI as an inventory, they can also no longer fast travel, they lost their player name along with their friends list. It was basically media transmigration. The only function the UI served was for health, leveling and skills/abilities. Weather and the day cycle is dynamic and mimics the same routine from real life. Night/day, the seasons, all of it. The guilds still held their power, but things were different. When someone lost all their HP, they died. Like actually. It is unsure if the mind is still trapped in the game, traveling around as a bodiless entity or if the game deletes it. The pain-meter function was broke, turning it all the way up, so now pain is also realistic. People can now break their arms and legs, limbs and broken bones don't heal as HP increases anymore. Because of this, guilds don't fight each other for pleasure and glory anymore. They fight for resources and land, turning the lands into somewhat of a no-mans-land. Players now have to eat and sleep - however, they never grow old. So they're as old as they made their character to be originally.
The world became realistic... with a few game mechanic exceptions. Some players went crazy with power, some actually lost their minds, some banded together and created refuges for weak or younger players. Some guilds made alliances, while others made enemies. Fighting over resources and land (resources no longer spawn back into existence after a couple hours anymore). The game holds true to most of its original mechanics, except now, players have to eat and sleep and can die (with the exception of never aging). The players also lost most of their UI functionality. But, besides that, not much else changed.
Small and new guilds emerge, guilds still fight for land, guilds still fight and compete for top spots in cities, with some guilds entering in agreements not to kill each other and submitting defeat when their members can no longer fight or have low health bars. Murder and other crime happens and those responsible are often judged and jailed by the bigger guilds.
Life inside Guild Quest is starting to feel a little too real... some are in denial and still treat it as a game. While reality is seeping in for others, slowly realizing... this is life now. How can they adapt? So much has been lost, but so much is to be gained. Guild Quest is now a world of empty souls, trying to live the best they can, confused, alone, cut off from the real world and fighting over resources. Scarce Land. Will those inside slowly turn the world into a state of stasis and politics, battles and war? Are the strong the only that get to survive?
Plot!
(Forgot to put this, but lifestyle is Medieval, as well as technology. Maybe a bit more advanced, but not much.) Story is going to be our characters joining a new guild. - A new guild has been advertising itself, wanting new and strong members. Our characters will struggle with adjusting to their new lives. There will be battles, politics, and a struggle to survive. (More information when the actual IC is up).
I'll go ahead and give you a brief overview of somethings: Guild Quest was originally a deepdive MMORPG. Deepdive means our minds are transferred inside the game, literally. The NPC's are AI's, so they're basically like real humans. Our characters, along with 20 million others, get trapped inside this game. Our characters can die and now have to eat and sleep. The only UI functionalities that still work are the health bar, leveling and skills/abilities. All other UI functionalities no longer work (map, inventory, friends list, etc...). Skills like cooking and crafting still apply. Someone with a low cooking skill cannot cook, if they do it will taste bad, etc... all other similar skills apply.
However, almost all the other original game mechanics work. Guild Quest is a game built around guilds. Guilds are basically the nations in this game and are in control. Guild still battle each other for supplies and land. However, some guilds talk and reason with each other and decide losers will be declared when the players can no longer fight or have low health bars. For a guild to get more land, they have to battle other guilds. Having land is useful for supplies and for room for more NPC's to move in, the more NPC's the more tax, the more tax, the more money a guild can make. NPC's will move towards a guild, living under them, because they feel safe from monsters/bandits while under the control of a guild.
You see where this is going.
Races:
Because I can't be bothered to make an in-depth race guide, feel free to use the races - along with their perks - from here: DND 5E Races
Skills/Abilities/Magic:
For the most part this roleplay is going to be somewhat of a sandbox. So feel free to create your own skills/abilities/magic. Just don't do anything crazy, maybe take inspiration from real skills/abilities/magic from other games/medias.
If you have any questions, ask me. Seriously. Don't do something blindly, I might've missed an important topic, or you might be unsure about something. It is totally cool, I promise.
For some inspiration, go here: Skills & Abilities Inspiration (I'm trying to be helpful...in an unhelpful way LOL)
Stuff!
So, um, hey. Yeah, I didn't put much effort into this roleplay. I'll be honest. I just wanted to put something out there and I've had this generic idea in my head for awhile. I plan on taking this rp serious, however, so don't to deterred. I made this roleplay in the span of a couple hours - bbcode and all. The bbcode I used is a combination of bbcode from @leviathan. and @spookie. So give them praise, I just edited their work! If you want to use my version of their work, feel free to, it turned out nice! Just don't forget to give them the credit, not me! (Also wanna mention that if you think I made this rp inspired by something, whatever it is you're thinking, then yes, I got inspiration from it. More than likely.)
I want this roleplay to be in-between serious and sandbox. Because I want our characters to be strong-ish, us have fun, but at times I'd like it to be serious and dark.
Basically using this RP as a way to gain DM/GM experience because I've been working on a really big roleplay for awhile now, like really big. It's been in the works for a couple months now and I want it to go well, so I want to do these - not so serious - roleplays and gain experience from them. This world doesn't have a lot of lore, so I'm going to fill things in as we go and as questions are asked - with the help of the players. I plan on taking this rp serious, despite how fast it was created. I'm happy with how it turned out, if I wasn't you wouldn't be reading this. As someone with a little bit of GM (game master) experience, I'll try my best to learn and grow and give you the best experience. I want to learn and grow.
I won't be making any characters. I'll be controlling every NPC as well as providing encounters. There won't be any dice involved, so anything that would usually involve dice will be determined by me. My word is the will of this roleplay. Anything I say, goes. So if you're trying to persuade or steal from an NPC, I'll be the one to determine if it was successful. Things like that. I'll take notes of character inventory, skills, and things and factor those in as well. So if you use a stealth skill to pickpocket someone, I'll more than likely say you did it and then tell you what was in their inventory that you stole! So this is going to be a mix of D&D and literature roleplay. Hope it goes well!
(Actual main IC post will be up in a couple days, I'll keep everyone updated in the OOC. If we get good character submissions fast, it'll be up a lot sooner.)
Rules: - RPN Site Rules, be nice. I don't care how mean and edgy you are, be nice you frickin twot, I'll instantly kick ya from the rp if ur not. Sarcasm is fine. Actual rudeness is not. If you wanna be mean, bite ur tongue and fake a "haha aight" haha aight? aight. Other than that... no other rules. Just be a decent human... or at least fake it. idc.
If you read nothing else for the rest of your life, before then, at the very least, I ask you to read "PLOT/STUFF" please.
Post Time Expectations: Preferably once a week, if you haven't posted in two weeks and you haven't told me anything in PM's I'll just go ahead and kick ya out the rp. No big deal.
