Fantasy Guardians(Leopard&Svenny)

Galaxxies

Maybe I belong among the stars
Masters. They have been around for many years, keeping out of the eyes of the human. To humans, a Master appears as any other human being. They simply have powers beyond those of normal humans. Then, Masters were discovered many, many years ago. Because of this, they were each given an animal to protect them once powers developed. This animal was called a Guardian. These Guardian's are always larger than their normal counterparts unless the animal is already fairly large as normal. Masters and Guardians were each given a crystal that matched. This was their connection; Masters and Guardians can speak to each other. But no Master can speak to a Guardian that is not his own, but Guardians can understand all humans.
Shortly after the creating of the Guardians, different schools were made. Just a few in the entire country. Here Masters trained to better their powers and learn to fight with their Guardian in battle. But, again the humans found the Masters. Much was done to conceal their identities, but nothing worked. The government waged war. All schools were set to be destroyed. The government succeeded. In most schools, everyone was killed. But at one, two Masters and two Guardians made it out alive. This is their journey.

More in Depth
Personality:
Ryder is a very shy and quiet girl. But once she opens up, she's very playful. Almost childlike. She tends to latch onto a person once she trusts them. But her trust isn't entirely easy to gain. Getting to know the real Ryder is taking the time to break through her shell. She doesn't open up for many. Trauma sends her into a sort of shut down state. She closes in on herself and blocks out the world. Once shut down, she wants nothing to do with anyone or anything. In these depressive moods, Zayden seems to be her only link to the outside world. But when all is well, she's extremely happy. Borderline annoying. All in all, Ryder is like the sweet, adorable, annoying little sister you never wanted.
History:
Ryder was among those who hid her powers. They developed when she was 8. She noticed them when she was in the pool one day. Kicking and splashing around, she aimed a splash at her dad. When she noticed it was going to miss him, he willed it to hit him. And before her eyes, a few of the water dropped changed course and hit him! No one else noticed, but Ryder did. From then on, she keeps trying to make it happen again. It wasn't long before she was able to control tiny amounts of water. She practised when she was alone. By the time she was 15, she was ready to tell her parents. When she did, all hell broke loose. She had enough control to moved around a gallon of water at a time; enough to prove herself. Her mother knew what it was. But her father resented everything it was. He had made his wife give up her powers to be with him. And now he was kicking his daughter out for powers of her own. Ryder packed what she could in a backpack and left. As she was leaving, her mother passed a jotted down phone number into her hand. Once safely away from the house, Ryder called. It was a boarding school for those like her. She went immediately.
When she arrived, she was told to choose her Guardian. She instantly chose a snow leopard. Due to the magic of a school personal, her Guardian was summoned. He dwarfed Ryder. She named him Zayden as it was the first name to come to mind. When asked to choose a Communications Crystal, she chose the deep smoky grey of Zayden's eyes. She had this gem embedded into a thick leather bracelet. One for herself(on right wrist) and one for Zayden(right front paw).
It's been 4 years since then. Zayden and Ryder have become almost one being. Ryder's powers have grown; with proper training of course.

|| Adysin Crawford || Female || 19 || Force Field ||
|| General Info ||
Name:
Adysin Crawford
Nickname:
Goes by Addie by her close friends
Age:
19
Gender:
Female

|| Guardian ||
Name:
Adamaris
Gender:
Female
Species:
Wolf
Appearance:
Adamaris stands lower than Zayden, but her body is much broader. She's completely white with icy blue eyes and a piercing in her ear that has a feather. She has a tattoo on her shoulder that is the Crawford family Emblem, which is a dagger with a rose vine wrapped around it.

|| More in Depth ||
Personality:
For those who do not know Adysin, she is a very private and suspicious person, liking to keep to herself. Most of the time she has a resting bitch face, which makes her seem intimidating and hard to approach. She makes it seem as though she has no emotions, except for anger(she has a short fuse sometimes) and determination, but she just bottles them up. Beware for that explosion... Adysin is very much influenced by impression, if you impress her, you will gain her respect and she will most likely grow to like you. To people who she loves and likes she's not that much different. Usually when she gives you a hard time it means she cares for you, although she would never admit it. if she doesn't like you or doesn't know you, she doesn't even look in your direction or give you much attention. Adysin is not much of a joker and she doesn't understand them. Most of Adysin is negative, but she has a good side to her. She protects the ones she loves with all her heart and is fiercely loyal, and cares more about her friends and family than herself. When she's comfortable around someone she goofs off a lot and does everything she can to make someone laugh. It's very easy to tell when Adysin is being open and honest because her eyes take on a frightened look.
History:
The Crawford family is a very well known family in the Scandinavian area, generations full of Masters. When Adysin was 8 years old she discovered her power; which allowed her to generate a force field around her. The force field can be as big as a football field, no one can get in but things can leave from inside, making it extremely handy in battles. When she summons the force field and it forms with people in close proximity, people get extremely hurt. It's hard for her to control it when she's angry. For years her family was perfect, very loving and nurturing, until she turned 13. On the day of her birthday there was an attack on where she lived, wiping out her entire family except her. Adysin had always known about the boarding, but she never actually went there until she was 16, when things got too bad for her to handle it on her own. She traveled for the three years between 13 and 16, and things that she never talks about happened during those three years.

|| Who I Love ||
Family:
Mother and father
Her little brother and sister (they are twins)

She'd rather not talk about it

|| On the Outside ||
Hair Color:
Light brown with natural golden highlights
Eye Color:
Her eyes match her Guardian's but they are darker and have specks of green in them
Brief Description:
Adysin is around 5 foot 8 inches tall. She weighs about 130, though she insists it's all muscle. Her skin is tan, but not like Ryders. Her hair is reaches to the end of her shoulder blades. She has a thick accent
Accessories:
Her crystal is called an Apache tear, which is a form of obsidian. A large ring is on her right ring finger which folds open and contains the crystal. Adamaris's crystal is broken up into smaller pieces that are woven through the feather on her ear. Adysin has several tattoos on her arms, shoulders, back and one behind her ear. No one really knows about her tattoos that are on her shoulders and back. The one that is on her left arm is what Adamaris has on her arm, the dagger with a rose vine wrapping around it, with the tip of the dagger pointing towards her palm. The one that is behind her ear is a tattoo of Adamaris ( though it's just a black outline ) who is howling to the moon. Adysin does not wear much makeup, but sometimes she wears a little bit just for fun. Around her neck lays a necklace that her mother gave her, it's the only thing she has from her. The necklace is a locket in the shape of a tree, but she hides what's in it from people.

Ryder stood from her place on the ground. Heavy breaths escaped her body as Adysin approached her. "Yeah.... I'm fine." The smaller girl let her eyes travel all over Addie, checking for any wounds. When the girl seemed fine, Ryder smiled. "I'm still not the most confident with my attacks though." Her mind went back to her distraction at her small victory. Had she kept her mind in the fight, she wouldn't have been pinned down like that. She grumbled lowly. Ryder might not have been a fighter, but she did prefer to be good at the things she attempted to do. And even if that something was fighting, she wanted to be good. But that didn't matter now... They were safe. Relatively, at least. This attack meant that they were being watched. Meant that they needed to keep a closer eye on themselves and the people they associated with. Giving a sigh, Ryder let the water from the ice ball in her hand melt back down. In a small stream, it flowed back into the hollow hilt of the dagger. She turned and raised a hand to Zayden's muzzle, "You alright, there?" With a nod and rumble in his chest, the large leopard let his Master know he was alright. Ryder moved and stood beside him, leaning into his front right leg and petting the fur there. Her adrenaline was fading. And with it, went her resolve. Fears came flying in from every direction in her mind. "Addie... What does this mean?! Are we safe anywhere? What if more come back? What if they catch us off guard next time?" Ryder kept up her rambling. A million 'what ifs' running through her head and out of her mouth.

|| Adysin Crawford || Female || 19 || Force Field ||

Adysin watched in silence as Ryder interacted with her Guardian, a small crease forming on her forehead. She had sent Adamaris away with Annabel, and now she worried that something might have happened to them. It wasn't that Adamaris would have allowed the child to be taken, but that somehow she managed to get herself killed. But, deep in her bones, Adysin could feel that Adamaris and Annabel were still alive and well. Turning away from Ryder, she walked around the small opening in the forest, gathering some things that she had dropped. She had dropped her hunting knife, something she always carried with her. It was made of mahogany and had a wolf carved into the handle. Thomas had given it to her as a Christmas present a couple years back when they still all happily lived in the school. Adysin was about to begin walking when Ryder began to speak again. Her questions made the back of Adysin's head throb as she felt a headache quickly approaching. Being more of the person that lived in the now and not in the 'what ifs' or future, Adysin found her questions rather irritating. Stopping next to a tree, she grabbed it with her hand and let out a long sigh, to show just how irritated she was. "Ry, can you shut up for just one minute?" Adysin asked, finally turning around once more to face the tiny girl. Her blue orbs sparkled with irritation as she stared at her, feeling an irrational anger begin to overwhelm her. "Haven't you learned anything over the last two months? We are never going to be safe, ever. We are always going to be followed, watched, attacked. There is no such thing as a world were monsters like us can ever live a peaceful life." Her words were harsh, but they were a snap of reality. It was true, they would never be able to live anywhere in total safety. There would always be that threat of being discovered and killed. And the sooner Ryder realized that, the better off they would be. She needed to accept the imminent danger that always threatened their lives. Adysin didn't want to sugar coat the severity of their situation, because she needed Ryder to be strong. As much as Adysin would never admit this outloud, Adysin needed Ryder in order to get through this mess to a life that was, perhaps, a little bit less horrible than this one. "Now stop rambling and help me find Adamaris and Annabel."

Ryder jerked her head up at Adysin's reply. "Oh..." Ryder stayed quiet as the girl continued to talk. "Monsters?" Ryder questioned, but not in a way that warranted an answer. Instead, Ryder headed off into the forest as she was instructed to. She said nothing as she walked, keeping an eye out for a flash of white fur. "Monsters?" The word repeated itself in her head. Her father had called her the same thing all those years ago. It hadn't bothered her that much. But hearing it from Adysin? It hurt. Ryder shook her head, ridding herself of the thought. Addie was right. She needed... She needed to be stronger. She had to leave behind the idea that would ever be safe. With anyone. The only people she could trust were herself and Zayden. Speaking of the large leopard, he was trailing alongside her, his nose in the air. Ryder physically shook her head. "Adamaris and Annabel." The girl debated calling out for the girl and wolf, but she decided it was probably best not to. There may have been other men in the forest. And Ryder didn't want to be the one to alert them to the fact that the other men were unsuccessful. So, she kept walking, following Zayden and his nose. The large beast stayed a couple of steps ahead of Ryder and she followed his lead. Ryder tried to push Adysin's words from her head, but they kept buzzing around, not unlike a bee's nest that was poked... Or maybe bashed with a rock is a better choice of words. Ryder vowed then that she would force herself to toughen up. She would be like Addie. Because Addie was tough. Closed off emotions. Cold. Calculated. Tough. She could do it. She hoped.

|| Adysin Crawford || Female || 19 || Force Field ||

Typical Adysin didn't realize what she had said came across as rude or demoralizing. Perhaps her ways made her particularly horrible to deal with, since her words were always so void of emotions. But that was Addie for you. No such thing as one without the other, it wasn't Adysin without her icy words. Maybe she didn't always mean them the way they sound, but no one was ever going to find that out. Adysin grabbed her things and slung them over her shoulder, following slowly after the two. Everything in her body was tense as she worried for the safety of her daughter and Guardian. It was strange to her how within a matter of a couple days she had gone from caring about no one but herself and Adamaris, to caring about Annabel as well. And perhaps she cared a little bit about Ryder too, though she would never admit it out loud. As her mind traveled back to Ryder, she glanced towards her, seeing her walking close to her Guardian. It made her miss Adamaris, even though their relationship was much different than Ryder's and Zayden's. Did Adysin have to be more like Ryder? A little bit more naive, and gullible, but also carefree and spirited. The thought of that made Adysin grimace. She could never give up this act, not after the hell she went through. Sighing, she turned her attention back on finding Adamaris and Annabel. Looking around, she tried to keep her ears peeled on the slightest sounds. Knowing Adamaris, she would've found the nearest cave or other underground hiding, but Adysin didn't even know if she was walking in the right direction anymore. Everything in her wanted to scream out for them, run around frantically until she had her baby girl in her arms again. But, that wasn't a good idea. Not with just having been in a fight. "Let's split up. I'll head this way," Adysin paused to point in some direction, "And you continue that way"

Ryder nodded. She took off in the indicated directed with Zayden. As the two walked, Zayden leaned his head down to nudge Ryder gently. "Don't let her words get to you." Ryder looked up at him and just shrugged her shoulders. "Maybe, she right ya know? I do need to toughen up a bit. Not everything is sunshine and rainbows. You gotta paint your own sunshine." Ryder then went on, leaving Zayden a few pawsteps behind as he contemplated her words. The large leopard shook his head and caught up to his Master. Ryder tangled her fingers back into the fur at his shoulder as Zayden caught up to her. It was a habit she had. The two would often walk like this; like they were creating an actual link between them. The snow leopard stuck his nose into the air, giving a sniff every few steps. "Ryder! I've caught them." Zayden hurried forward, following the scent of the little girl and the wolf. Ryder let go of his fur to allow him to get ahead of her. As she followed him through the forest, he lead her to a small cave. Zayden dipped his head into the cave, a comforting purr already rattling his chest. When Ryder caught up, she followed him in, finding both wolf and child in the cave. "Annabel. We found you. Come on, let's get you back to your mommy." Ryder didn't want to admit just how relieved she was to see the little girl or the wolf! That would mean admitting that she had already grown attached to both of them. And she wasn't quite ready for that yet.

|| Adysin Crawford || Female || 19 || Force Field ||

Adysin didn’t look back as they separated, her eyes focused on the trees ahead. She had to find Annabel, if she didn’t, her world would be torn apart. In the couple days Adysin had known her daughter, she had totally taken control of it. Annabel and Ryder together were slowly rescuing Adysin from the dark pit she had called home for so many years. The least Adysin could do, was to thank her daughter for that by keeping her safe. But now, in the midst of the forest, Adysin felt as though Annabel was so unsafe because her baby wasn’t in her arms. Adysin continued her search, getting more frantic the longer she went without finding them. Of course Adysin loved Adamaris as well, but Adysin was less worried about her snooty, bossy, stoic wolf. She was well aware that she was capable of taking care of herself, though if she died a piece of her heart would be ripped from her forever. Eventually, after looking around every tree she crossed, she felt herself giving up. But then, in the silence of the dark forest, a voice came through to Adysin. It was Adamaris. “We found Ryder and Zayden.” Adysin then turned on her heels and raced towards the way she had come, Adamaris’s voice giving her guidance to find where they were. When she saw Zayden through the trees, Adysin’s legs carried her even faster towards them. Finally, when Adysin was close enough, Annabel spotted her and ran towards her. Just before they reached each other Adysin fell to her knees so she would be the height of her daughter when they hugged. When they finally connected, Adysin let out a huge sigh and tangled her hand into her hair, whispering “I’m never going to leave you ever again.”

Zayden noticed Adysin before Ryder did. He perked up and stopped, causing his Master to stop as well. Ryder turned in time to see Annabel run off towards her mother. Ryder stood beside Zayden and watched the reunion. She smiled at them. "They're adorable aren't they, Zayden." The snow leopard just huffed a bit. He still wasn't exactly happy with the words Adysin had said to Ryder, but it wasn't his place to make a judgement there. Ryder was head over heels for the girl and Zayden wasn't able to pull her away from that. So he simply sat down and allowed mother and daughter a moment to reconnect.
After a couple minutes, Ryder cleared her throat. "Hey, Addie... We should be heading out of these woods. There may be more of them around." With that, Ryder gave a gentle tug on Zayden's shoulder fur and the two of them headed back the way they had come so they could continue on the path they were on.

|| Adysin Crawford || Female || 19 || Force Field ||

The words that left Ryder's mouth were ignored by Adysin for a while as she appreciated her moment with her daughter. Although they had been apart for at most a couple hours, she had missed her terribly. This was a start of a beautiful but dangerous relationship. Because of the attachment between them, Adysin would become too protective over her little girl. She would spoil her rotten, yes, but when it came to certain things, she would be strict and opinionated, unwavering in her decisions. But, in this moment, with Adysin's arms wrapped around her daughters body, those thoughts were far from her mind. Eventually, Adamaris nudged her, calling her attention away from Annabel. When she looked up and let go of Annabel, she could see Ryder beginning to walk away from them. Straightening, she lifted Annabel into her hands and placed her on the back of her big white wolf. Adamaris began to head after Ryder and Zayden, but Adysin held back for a minute. She let out a deep breath, running her hands through her hair. She had been close to a mental breakdown at the thought of never seeing her again. How could someone have this much of an affect on her in just a couple days? It was a mystery to Adysin. Adysin followed after them, her gaze fixed upon Annabel's back until it was drawn to Ryder's. They had been so intimate, not sexually but emotionally, just a couple hours before but now there was a wall between them again. A wall created by Adysin herself. It was a wall she was incapable of not creating, and most of the time she didn't even noticed that it had been reinforced. "Hopefully we get to the school quickly. I need to see other Masters again." Adysin murmured softly as she caught up to them, looking directly at Ryder. Her eyes were distant, but her mind was close. Her emotions were far away, but she was still capable of having a conversation, albeit a little unenthusiastic.

"Other Masters you say?" Ryder turned to glance at the girl beside her. "Am I not enough for you, Addie?" Ryder's voice held a joking air, but underneath it was clear that she was still lost in her own thoughts. The small girl shook her head slightly, she needed to not let Adysin's words get to her so much. She knew that Addie often said things that... Were not filtered. And while Ryder loved the honesty behind them, and she knew they weren't meant in a harmful way, sometimes it was a bit much for her. Ryder mentally shoved the thoughts aside. No matter what she thought, she knew that Addie was right. Now it was just up to Ryder t decide what she was going to do about it. Was she going to let it consume her? No... But she would take them to heart and learn from it. She was sticking to her resolution to be like Addie. She would need to be if she hoped to survive any of this that was going to be thrown at them. But as she thought about being more like Adysin, her thoughts drifted to the moments the two of them had shared together. All of their intimate ones. Her favourite one popped loud and clear into her head. It was the time she just crawled into Addie's lap and had been held by the taller girl. Ryder loved physical contact and that had been such a great moment for her. She missed that. She wanted it again. Ryder gave a quiet sigh as she realized that she had been quiet for a long while. "Sorry..." she gave a tiny chuckle with the word, "got a little lost in my thoughts."

Adysin raised an eyebrow at Ryder as she let out her remark, obviously somewhere else. "No, I'm getting quite bored of you." Adysin stated, meaning for it to be a joke, though her tone didn't rely that message. Then, from one minute to the next, Ryder was sucked into another world, lost in her own thoughts. Adysin sighed softly and shook her head. In just the month that they knew each other, she had changed so much. She was still the same jaded and cracked girl, but there were moments where she opened up to Ry. They were rare, given, but they were much more frequent than they ever were with other people. Adysin had been more irritable at the beginning of their journey, but at this point, Adysin felt more defeated than anything else. Not in a sense that she wanted to give up, but in the sense that she was emotionally defeated. Although she was looking forward to seeing other Master's, she wasn't sure how well she would acclimate. Adysin had spent the last month spending every day with Ryder and Annabel, was she ready to deal with so many people? Adysin felt as though she wasn't, but perhaps she would be fooled. After all, Ryder had grown on Adysin and she had never thought that would happen. When Ryder spoke again, she turned her head towards her and suggested, "A penny for your thoughts?" Although she wasn't sure she wanted to hear everything, Adysin figured she should be a little bit appreciative. After all, Ryder had found Annabel.

Ryder hasn't even heard Adysin's comment, instead, she got lost in her thoughts. Once called out on it, Ryder blushed a bit. "Oh... Umm.." Ryder's blush deepened as she tried to get the words out. "I was just... just thinking if that first night we spent in a cave. When I had crawled into your lap." Ryder kept walking forward, her eyes focused on the ground in front of her, as if she suddenly found it very interesting. She figured that by now, she should be above trying to hide her blush from the other girl, but she couldn't help it. It was how she reacted. But Ryder wasn't going to lie, she missed that night. She missed all of their little moments. Their little sparks of intimacy that always seemed over far too quickly for Ryder's liking. But that... That was something she wouldn't admit out loud. Adysin had her walls, and Ryder respected that. Even if she let Ryder in a few times, it didn't mean Ryder was always welcome there. It was a place that she could only enter on Adysin's terms. Everything in Ryder screamed for her to look up at Adysin, but the girl kept her eyes planted firmly on the ground in front of her feet.

The words that left Ryder’s mouth had not been the ones she had been expecting. Her words brought her back to that night, the night where the burning rabbit had kept them from going any further. The memories brought back that little tingling she had felt inside as it was happening that night. Stop it, don’t think about that! She scolded herself as she looked towards Ryder, who seemed to be too embarrassed to even look at her. Seeing her so embarrassed brought a small smile to her lips, finding it amusing to see the little girl squirm. Adysin wanted to walk closer to her, so she picked up her pace in order to walk in step with her. “Perhaps after all this mess, we can finish what we started that night.” Adysin said softly, reaching her hand out to gently rub Ryder’s arm in reassurance. As of right then, Addie wanted it to be finished immediately, but that would be highly inappropriate. They were on a mission and could not be distracted by fluffy feelings that were to complicate things. But, that didn’t stop her from being hopeful that it would happen again. “I would like that very much.” With her hand still on Ryder’s arm, she squeezed it slightly and pulled her to a stop. Spinning the girl around to face her, Adysin tangled her hand in her hair and leaned down to place a tender kiss on her forehead. Then, without warning, she wrapped the girl in a hug. She realized that it was, if not the first time, one of the only times they ever hugged. “I️ didn’t want to make you feel bad by my words earlier, I just want you to be capable of protecting yourself if Zayden and I aren’t there to do so.” her words were muffled by Ryder’s hair as she rested her face against she side of hers.

Finish what they started? Ryder felt hope swell in her heart. The hand on her arm made her jump slightly, but she quickly calmed under Adysin's touch. Ryder was pulled to a stop and then turned towards Adysin with a soft kiss placed on her forehead. Ryder's blush deepened, and as she was pulled into a hug, she buried her red face into Addie's shoulder. Ryder's arms snaked their way around Adysin's back, holding onto her. "I know..." Just as Addie's words had been muffled by Ryder's hair, Ryder's words were muffled by the fabric of Addie's clothes. "I know that." At the reminder, Ryder's hand fisted Adysin's shirt where it rested on her back. But even with that reminder, this still felt wonderful. And Addie was right. They were in a mess. They were in a hell of a mess. A mess that didn't need to be made messier by complicated feelings. Ryder wished that everything could smooth and calm for the two of them. But this was life. And it just didn't work that way. Instead of worrying about it, Ryder turned her head to the side and placed a gentle kiss on Adysin's neck. "I'd like that too, ya know? The picking up once things have settled?" Ryder hard a quiet grumble from Zayden. She knew he still wasn't happy with the way things were developing between Ryder and Adysin... And maybe Ryder would be smart to listen to her Guardian. But that would mean ignoring just how right it felt to be wrapped up in the taller girl's arms. And why on Earth would Ryder ever want to do that?

Adysin continued to hold her, feeling as though she should never let her go. There were so many things wrong with this situation. Her mood swings changed from second to second, they were in a life or death situation, and they had no idea where they were going. They were practically set up for failure, and Adysin knew that the best course of action was to continue their journey. But a part of her just wanted to stand there, holding her, for a while longer. For the first time in forever, Adysin listened to that part of her. "We will." she reassured her softly. Resting her chin on top of Ryder's head, she looked towards Adamaris and Annabel, who were waiting idly by. Don't be too long. Adamaris warned, glancing around the woods nervously. She obviously believed that there could still be men lurking around in the trees, waiting for the right time to attack. Although Adamaris was not as outspoken as Zayden about it, she too believed that this match was not going to end well. She fully believed that it would work out if this was a more appropriate place, but because this was a life or death situation, she wanted them to move on. Not have moments.

Adysin obliged and let go of Ryder, briefly running her hand through Ryder's hair. She gave her a small smile before turning towards her Guardian and daughter, "We should get going. We don't have much light left. I don't want to sleep in the open." Glancing up at the sky, she realized that it was already starting to get rather hazy, meaning the sun was starting to set. Grabbing her backpack, she looked back at Ryder, waiting for her to follow suit. Adysin always felt better when she knew that her traveling companion, occasional lover, was close by. That way, she could protect her if need be.

Ryder snuggled her body closer to Adysin at the reassurance. Couldn't "we will" turn into "right now?" But Ryder knew that it couldn't. She knew their situation wasn't the best for a budding romance. But she couldn't help but want to chase after it. When Addie let her chin rest on the shorter girl's head, Ryder let out a small content sigh. She wanted to stay here forever. But she knew they couldn't. So when Addie pulled away, Ryder allowed her too without putting up a fight. Ryder bent down and picked up her backpack, trying not to focus on the lingering tingles where Addie had run a hand through her hair. Ryder usually wasn't one to enjoy someone messing with her hair. She didn't even like for Zoey to do such a thing. But when Addie did it... It made her all tingly and happy. Ryder then turned and started back on their course through the woods. As they walked, their Guardians and Annabel ahead of them, Ryder looked over at Addie. "Hey... Addie?" Ryder's voice was low and nervous. "Do... Do you mind if I...." Her words trailed off without finishing as Ryder reached for Adysin's hand. The small girl looked forward as she blushed. They had never walked hand in hand before, but Ryder had always wanted to. She just hoped Adysin wouldn't brush her away.

Everything in Adysin wanted to pull her hand away from Ryder. For once, she took a deep breath and decided not to listen to the devil sitting on her shoulder. So, instead of pulling away, she allowed her fingers to intertwine with Ryder's. Adysin knew that Ryder needed this, and perhaps somewhere deep down (deep deep down) she needed it too. Walking side by side, she followed the path their protectors trod. There was something about the silence of this group that settled her. Peaceful, was the word. Even though hours before they had fought with men, she found peace in this forest. These dark trees had always been her second home, throughout all those years wondering with nowhere to go, no one to love her, she had always gravitated to the forest. It was strange, perhaps, but it was the truth. Adysin found the silence compatible with her solemn mood, as it offered her time to contemplate things. Add the soft breeze, the earthly smell, and the crunch of pine needles under her feet, it was pure heaven. As they walked, she glanced towards Ryder, knowing that it had taken her a lot of courage to reach for her hand, assuming she would pull it away. Honestly, Adysin was surprised herself that she hadn't pulled away, but she was a changing woman. "We need to find somewhere to sleep." she repeated, turning her gaze forwards again, searching for a covered area. "To be safe, we should keep guard. I'll take the first shift." There were too many thoughts buzzing around Adysin's head to even think about sleep. She needed time to think.

As the pair walked along in silence, Ryder found herself enjoying the moment. When Addie mentioned finding somewhere to sleep, Ryder nodded her head, her short black hair bobbing with it, the green tips were starting to fade away. "Zayden... Do you mind scouting ahead for us? See if you can find a cave or something with a small entrance." The girl watched as her Guardian bounded away, his tail swishing to acknowledge that he had heard her. "Maybe there is something close by." The night was going to fall soon. And Ryder would rather not be out in the open when it happened. "Just be sure to wake up, so you can get some sleep." The shorter girl raised her eyes to look at Adysin's face. "I mean it. You need rest as well." Ryder knew the girl could be stubborn, but she still needed rest. Just then, a white head poked out from the trees ahead of them. "I've found somewhere. Come on." Zayden smiled as he spoke to his Master. And Ryder started walking a little faster as she followed him through the woods, her hand still firmly attached to Adysin's. The large leopard lead them forward for a few minutes before turning into the side of a rock face. It was an overhang from the hill that slowly sloped upward beside them. Ryder dropped Adysin's hand before going into the small entrance after Zayden... Well small enough that Zayden and Adamaris could still squeeze inside, but it was close for the leopard. Ryder stepped into a small opening, not quite able to be called a cave, but enough for them to have a fire and a place to sleep. "I can go grab fire wood?" Ryder offered.

Adysin watched silently as Zayden bounded off gleefully, ready to find a suitable place for them to sleep. It almost seemed like deja vu, watching his spotted tail disappear behind the thick rooted trees. She had watched that tail fade into nothing numerous times, on the look out for whatever his master had demanded of him. Her serious face returned as she strutted along side Ryder, her gaze fixed ahead, mind drifting off to a far off land. Mostly, when she looked ahead, she wasn't thinking of anything in particular, she was just staring, avoiding all thoughts. Thinking was when Adysin came into trouble, and that was when things went wrong. She vaguely took into account that Ry had spoken to her, something about waking up and rest, but she hadn't caught all the words. Adysin was about to ask to repeat her words, but just at that moment, Zayden returned into view. From the leisurely walk that had been enjoying, Ryder's pace increased so abruptly, that Adysin found herself stumbling after her, dragged along by the hand. The entrance that he lead them to was taller than her, but it was narrow. There was enough room for Adamaris to squeeze through, but Adysin had to carry the bags the wolf had on her back in order to make sure that nothing inside would get damaged. Addie followed them into the small crevice in the side of a stone cliff, carved out enough to give shelter. The side of the cave that was open was primarily covered with bushes, making it nearly impossible for the weather outside to get into the half cave. Dropping her stuff onto the ground, she turned towards Ryder who had spoken to her, her eyebrows raised up in contemplation. "Yes. You go do that, I'll set things up here." Adysin looked back at Adamaris, who had let Annabel hop down, "I think we are good in the food department, you only need to worry about the wood. Find rocks too, if you can?"

Ryder nodded, reaching up and placing a quick peck of a kiss onto Adysin's cheek before bounding off, out of the cave's entrance. With her backpack slung onto her back, she started her search. Rock were throw into her backpack and woods gathered into her arms. After about twenty minutes, the small girl felt she had found plenty and turned back the way she had come. Once back inside of the cave, Ryder dropped her load of wood beside the wall of the cave, leaving the largest peices there and bringing the smaller ones to the center where they could be used to start a fire. "I think this will be enough to get us through the night, but if not, I'll head back out again." The small for crouched down and took off her heavy backpack. She unloaded the rocks and made a circle for the fire out if them. There were a few extra and she sat them to the side, in case they were needed for anything. Once finished with the rocks, she moved to Zayden's packs and dug around for her fire starter. She pulled it out and reached a hand out towards Adysin, "wanna do us the honors, Addie?"

In a whirlwind of a moment, a kiss had be placed on her cheek and a flush the girl walking away could not see came to her face. Shaking her head, she began to move everything into little sections. Placing her backpack and her bags on the ground, she searched through them to find some of the meat she had packed. Taking it out, she placed it on the ground near the center of the shelter, where she imagined Ryder would start the fire. Then, she grabbed what she had been sleeping on, and spread it out on the dirt. Glancing over towards Annabel, she realized how in the beginning of their journey, she had started off without a daughter. Now, it was hard for her to believe she had actually kidnapped her daughter and she was actually with her. Reaching out her hand, she ran it lovingly through Annabel’s short blonde hair, locks that would take after Adysin. Just then, Ryder returned with the wood and rocks, setting up the fire place. When asked to start the fire, she simply nodded and got to her feet. Turning towards her bag, she grabbed her sketch pad and crouched down next to Ryder. Flipping it open, she came to the scene she had shown her companion earlier. Without hesitating very long, she ripped it from the seams and crumbled it up. “It’s about time I say goodbye to the past. Focus on tomorrow.” Flipping to another page, she came to a drawing that depicted a single house on the shore of a lake. It had been Trevor’s house. Taking a deep breath, she ripped it out as well, throwing it into the pit. Delicately taking the fire starter from Ryder, she lit the papers on fire so the wood had a fire to catch. “I suppose it was long overdue.” Adysn said softly, as she rocked back to sit on her butt.

Ryder watched in slight awe, unsure of what to say. But sometimes those that needed to move on, needed to delete the pictures. and memories of the past. "So, here's to tomorrow." Ryder smiled at the girl as the wood caught fire.
As the fire started, Ryder stood and walked over to her packs. She pulled out her three water bottles, though all were empty. "I'll be right back." She quickly ducked out of the cave, heading to the small stream she had passed when gathering firewood. After filling up the bottles, she turned and made her way back into the cave. As promised, Ryder wasn't gone more than a couple of minutes. She sat down next to Adysin in front of the fire, placing the three bottles in front of her, and uncapping their lids. Once all were opened, she focused for a moment and allowed her power to pull the water up from all three bottles, forming it into a large sphere. Ryder floated the ball of water over the fire, allowing it to be heated. She then broke it up into small streams and let them all dance and swirl above the fire, knowing that if Annabel were paying attention, the girl might like the show. Once the small streams were bubbling and steaming, she formed it back into a sphere in front of her and froze it solid. Ryder then melted the water back down and split it between the three bottles. "Cold water?" Ryder smiled, proud of herself, as she handed a bottle to Adysin and then stood and gave one to Annabel. She sat down again and lifted her own bottle to take a long drink from it.

Adysin remained silent as Ryder walked away, her gaze fixed on the paper burning with the kindling's. Burning the drawings was like burning a part of her past that she would never be able to return to. They would remain memories of a life she kept inside. A life only Ryder knew about. A life Adysin would never tell Annabel about, there was no way she wanted her daughter to be subjected to that kind of knowledge. Her gaze then drifted to her blood, one of the only reasons she was doing this. This. Their journey. To keep her safe, to keep Ryder safe. It was all Adysin seemed to care about these days, but she wasn't complaining. Just not admitting to the fact that she actually cared about something. Her gaze was drawn away from her daughter when Ryder returned with water in the bottles. She began to comment on it, when she sat down and began to bend the water in captivating ways. Adysin enjoyed watching the girl water bend, it distracted her from her thoughts and was fascinating. The little expression of happiness on Ryder's face as she bended the water was something worth watching. A small smile crept to her lips as she watched her little sounds of happiness. Then, Ryder turned to her and the smile faded just a bit, taking the water from her hands appreciatively. "Thank you, my little fish." Adysin had attempted to make a joke, though she wasn't sure how well it would come across. She returned the book to her backpack and offered Ryder some of the left over meat she had taken with them.
