  The rain poured down outside the cabin as Milo
  and the new Isabella Burke consummated their recent
  marriage. The world didn't matter to either one of them as they
  indulged in the pleasures of the flesh. Milo and Isabella had
  decided to elope, as their parents had been adamant about
  keeping them apart. They were high school seniors, after all.
  That hadn't stopped them from running off to the small chapel
  in the middle of nowhere. The next day, when word reached
  their parents, they immediately pushed for an annulment.
  Milo and Isabella resisted. They were young, and in love,
  and nothing was going to stop them from being together.
  However, it left them homeless, as both set of parents
  wanted nothing to do with them. They then decided to
  move to Miami, where they got their GEDs.
  
  Nine months later, Julianna Addison Burke was born to
  the love and adoration of Milo and Isabella. Milo had
  just struck it rich with a new business venture, setting
  him and his new family up for life. Isabella was
  dismayed to find out that she could not have any more
  biological children a few years later after trying
  and failing to conceive a younger sibling for their
  darling Julianna. All the IVF and fertility treatments
  in the world couldn't help the Burkes produce another
  child. Although they were disappointed by the news,
  they inevitably accepted the fact that they would only
  have their only child, Julianna. Isabella couldn't help but
  feel as if her infertility was a sign from the universe
  telling her that she was wrong for running off and getting
  eloped. She couldn't live with herself for what she had
  done, and so, leaving behind a note for both Milo and
  Julianna to read, she took the family SUV and took off.
  Julianna was only seven when she left. It devastated
  both her and her father.
  
  
  As Julianna had gotten older, she had often wondered
  about the fate of her mother. Was she remarried, with
  a new family? Was she miserable? All of her questions
  would be answered the summer before she started high
  school. Years ago, when Isabella ran off, she had drove
  to a secluded area in the middle of the untamed forest,
  where she promptly took her own life. The authorities
  had just now found what had remained of Julianna's
  beloved mother. The discovery shattered Julianna,
  who had hoped that her mother was still alive after
  all that time.

  to become a different person. That innocent, starry-
  eyed little girl was gone now, and she was never
  coming back. She took to the role of the mean girl

    growing up, juno was always what people think when they think of a little girl; outgoing, giggly, loves the color pink, all of that. her parents always encouraged her to be herself as she and her brother were growing up, and juno took that advice and encouragement to heart. she was outspoken, loved talking to strangers, she was a natural born extrovert. she always had to be with someone, always having fun.
    
    but those weren't the only qualities that juno showed at a young age; juno also showed her angry side quite frequently. whenever she didn't get her way, whenever her parents told her something that she didn't like, any time she was upset and couldn't properly express her emotions, she threw a fit. and not a whiny boo hoo i'm sad kind of fit, it was the violent screaming and pounding her little fists into whatever was nearby.
    
    so when you first meet juno, you get the happy, giggly, humble juno. the juno who is incredibly humble and blushes at any compliment. but as soon as something doesn't start going her way, the way she wanted or the way she initially planned, she gets agitated. it's not noticeable at first, but the more things go wrong, the more it IS noticeable. if it gets bad enough, her face will quite literally become red, she's even cried angry tears before.

    juno has a big interest in management. she grew up around her parents, who ran their entire chain of hotels, and the interest just seemed to spill over into juno. she doesn't want to become CEO or anything, but she has a skill and interest for organizing and managing things. schedules, supply orders, even different events to have at the hotels, juno wants to do it.
    she also shows a growing interest in painting. she's always loved it, but more recently, her anger management class has suggested for painting to be her way of calming down. so there are many a canvas in the johnson penthouse, her parents actually just started hanging up her paintings around the hotel, juno got pretty good, and why spend a few hundred dollars when their daughter could make them in their own home?

    born on the winter solsitce, juno marie johnson was born to parents Kathrine and Damien Johnson. being their second child, they were naturals at parenting, having an older son named jupiter (he only liked being called matthew, though). Kathrine and Damien Johnson had worked very hard in their lives in order to give their children a wonderful life, a life they didn't get to live.
    
    the Johnson couple met when they both worked in a run down, rinky-dink hotel. Damien was a janitor, and Kathrine was a desk clerk. the two quickly became fond of each other, but also the work they did at the hotel. after many, MANY years of working up the ranks, they were able to take over the run down hotel and create a chain of the most comfortable, luxury, and (surprisingly) semi-affordable hotels. the Johnsons didn't want to just slap their names on the buildings, so they called their hotels "celestial inn", paying tribute to their love for all things outer space, which also came across in a subtle and classy way in each of their buildings.
    
    needless to say, juno and matthew lived a very privileged life. they grew up traveling, going from hotel to hotel with their parents, as they were still very involved with their business at the time. juno has very fond memories of different celestial inns her an her brother stayed at across the country, the different pools, slides, game rooms, tvs, snacks, every kid's dream. but once juno was tweleve and matthew was fifteen, the johnsons finally settled down in New York, New York. their most successful hotel was located there, and of course, every celestial inn was made with a penthouse to house the johnson family.
    
    juno figured her parents would be sending her to some prestigious private school, there wasn't any real reason for it other than her parents thinking it'd be a better experience for her and her brother.
    
    sadly, matthew was the first to prove his parents wrong. as matthew started in public high school, he quickly fell into the wrong kind of crowd. not the stereotypical outcasts that everyone calls druggies and potheads, oh no, matthew fell into a far worse crowd; the jocks. the jocks, seemingly wonderful on the surface, but underneath, they were filled with drugs, drinking, and spreading different girls' nude pictures around, calling them the whore of the week, or the "wow".
    
    having never had a friend group before, since growing up it was always just him and juno, matthew quickly fell in step with them and it slowly began to ruin him. the jocks had him doing all their dirty work, going and getting their supply, their drinks, they even would give matthew's number to girls to send their explicit picture to, so that when he sent the pictures to the rest of them, it was technically matthew who was distributing the pictures, and HE would be the one to get in trouble, not the others.
    
    and low and behold, that's exactly what happened. he was caught when the police did a drug raid on the local supplier. matthew was in the middle of going and getting some meth for one of the jocks, and was caught red handed. he was questioned and put into holding, but as soon as his parents were contacted, they shelled out double the money needed for his bail, and got him out of there as quickly as possible.
    
    rumors spread quickly throughout the public school community, the jocks spun tails of having no idea that he was like that, some said they had always known he was a little off, etc etc. matthew was obviously kicked out of any athletics he was previously involved in, but sadly that didn't stop the drug addiction that was running through his veins. he continued to stay hooked on different drugs, floating in and out of the police station, and his parents were constantly paying his hush money.

    starting 7th grade in a new school is maybe one of the worst things a young girl can do. if you're going to start a new school, you either go before middle school or before high school. when you join in 7th grade, everyone already has their friend groups, they have their cliques and their clubs and their crushes that if you make one wrong step, you might as well go die in a hole.
    
    or at least, that was the world according to juno. her first day of school was not fun, at all. she was so used to the world being her, her brother, and her parents. she was used to being able to be herself and not have a care in the world. but when she started 7th grade, at her new public school, in new york, she tried to be herself; that's what her parents told her to do, just be herself and everything will work out.
    
    bad. BAD idea. she tried to make some quirky joke to the girl sitting next to her, and all the girl did was snap at her and make some rude comment about juno's pigtails. apparently pigtails were OUT for anyone who was someone in 7th grade. from there, juno learned how cutthroat public school was. but it wasn't till the middle of her junior year that she would see the true difficulties of her school.
    
    for some reason, the same girl that hated her pigtails in 7th grade continued to hate juno for their entire high school career. emily baker. emily never had one nice thing to say about juno, and it felt non stop; every day, there was a new dig for juno, there was a new insult or passive aggressive comment. very early on, juno learned how to snap back at emily, there was a lot of days where the girls would be going at each other in the hallway, the cafeteria, even in the middle of class. the only reason they had so many classes together was because they were in all the honor and advance placement classes. it's not like administration could make one of them go to the standard classes when they both earned their spots in the honor classes. so they handed out a lot of lunch and after school detention to the girls, they did their best to keep it at bay.
    
    but there was one day where juno's feelings could no longer be kept at bay. it was a day emily baker decided to take a dig at juno right where it hurt, her family. emily got a higher score on a test than juno, and juno knew, everyone knew, emily wouldn't stop bragging about it. juno was never one to brag, whenever emily wasn't insulting her and getting a rise out of her, she was actually a humble, down to earth, girl. but them emily said the words that made juno's blood boil:
    
    "i bet your family bought your way into these classes. the johnson family's only asset is their money, that's why your brother keeps getting out of jail, even though we all know he's a serial killer."
    
    juno lost it. right there, in the middle of the hallway, for God and everyone to see, juno threw a punch straight to emily baker's face. a painful crunch was heard as emily's head was knocked backwards. but emily wasn't out of the fight because of a broken nose, oh no, she immediately jumped right in and started the first physical fight of her and emily's school career. the two were clawing at each other, pulling hair, kicking shins, everything. emily's freakishly sharp acrylic nails scratched right at juno's eye and juno needed a minute to recover. with all her force, she threw emily backwards, closing her eyes and stepping back herself, rubbing her eye where the nail tore some skin.
    
    there were gasps that were heard, some murmurs, juno even made out a "oh my gosh, is she dead?" it immediately made juno turn back around to face where emily once stood, one eye open and one eye closed with an obvious scratch going across it. where emily was once standing, she was now on the ground, seemingly unconscious. her posse had gathered around her, trying to get her to wake up. by that time, the principal and vice principal had been notified of what was happening and they took juno away from the scene as they called paramedics.
    
    in the school history, for the sake of appearances, they told authorities that emily baker had tripped and fell, and that was what was spread through the news, all this commotion over the school's golden girl tripping and getting a grade two concussion. emily baker was fine, a few symptoms, and of course a broken nose, but she quickly recovered. but by then, juno was gone. the principal told juno and her parents about a private school in california. it was prestigious, and the principal had glowing reviews of how calm the atmosphere was. so by the time emily woke up and was back in classes, juno was gone.

    for as long as grey can remember, he's always been a shy and quiet individual. not a fan of social events, social settings, anything with big groups of people, he doesn't like being the center of attention. grey's always been the one to stick his head down and "stick to the status quo". incredibly quiet and humble, not really speaking unless spoken to kinda guy.
    
    he's always been just as sweet of a guy, helping whenever he sees someone needing help, he stops to help them. like if an elderly lady needed help picking something off the floor, greyson would rush to her side and help her. and at any form of praise for his good deeds, grey turns bright red and gets 10x more shy.

    greyson grew up an only child to his mother and father. they lived a happy little life, all three of them being athletes because they loved it. greyson grew up in a family of love, until he turned 8. see, the ace family was the middle of middle class. but they lived right on the edge of lower class neighborhood, one where theft was a major problem. one day, while greyson and his dad were at his baseball practice, someone raided their house. his mother came home in the middle of this person stealing from them. greyson’s mother was a kind and understanding woman, she tried to reason with the person, but out of fear, they shot her five times and ran away. when greyson and his father came home, it was a horrible sight. greyson saw her first, laying in a pool of her own blood in their kitchen. greyson screamed and his father rushed into the kitchen only to be met with his dead wife.
    from that moment on, greyson lived in a bitter home. his father turned to alcohol and yelling. he forced greyson to continue with baseball and became very abusive. yet somehow, greyson never lost his love. no matter how many times greyson was beat and yelled at and forced to stay up into the early hours of the morning doing baseball drills, he remained the same son his mother raised, full of love and joy.
    
    the first few years of greyon's life were filled with love and joy. being the only child to ramona and barnaby ace, the three of them had a wonderful life. ramona and barnaby didn't meet until they were both halfway through college, they happened to meet at a volleyball game. ramona was star setting of her team, and barnaby was dating the captain of the opossing team. but something about her energy on and off ther court, how she was able to be a strong, assertive presence during the game, and then immediately be the most cheerful and supportive person once the ball hit the floor, it drew barny in. barnaby quickly broke up with his girlfriend and started pursuing ramona. ramona quickly broke up with her boyfriend, when she realized barny was serious about pursuing him. or did she?
    
    after two short years, once both were fully graduated, the two were engaged to marry. there was so much love surrounding the couple, no one had any questions. but behind the scenes, as the wedding date got closer, more and more questions were brought up, especially when ramona seemed to throwup every morning, like clockwork. ramona insisted that it was her body adjusting to a new diet, she said she was trying to make sure she fit into her wedding dress. and just like that, the moment was forgotten and the wedding was a success.
    
    seven months later, came along greyson reid ace, their bouncing baby boy. the three of them were the picture of a perfect family, the aces were never seen without a smile on their faces, and the couple was never seen without their giggling baby boy in their arms. everyone aspired to be like ramona and barny, but no one could foresee the tragedy that soon befell them.
    
    growing up, greyson was of course close with both parents, but there is truly nothing like a mother's love. greyson was definitely more attached to his mother than his father, but barny never took it personally, some kids are just closer to one parent than the other. what mattered was that grey still loved his dad, and his dad loved him. the three of them frequently played sports out in their yard. learning volleyball from his mom and lacrosse from his dad, grey was proving to be a baby sports prodigy. he showed a natural talent for sports, not one in particular, any of them! he seemed to be able to adapt to any sport that his parents began to teach him, he loved all of them dearly, but at around age 6 or seven, volleyball showed to be his favorite sport.
    
    one day, while grey and his dad were at lacrosse practice, something happened to ramona. aparently, her ex from high school, found out that she had a kid. actually, he found out that she had HIS kid. just two months before barnaby proposed to ramona, they had a huge fight that resulted in them ending things for only a day, because barny came running back to her immediately. but it was enough time for ramona to fine emotional and physical comfort in the arms of her ex, richard westmen. it was a one night situation, no feelings attached, or so ramona thought. because after greyson was alive for eight years, richard found out, and came looking for his child. and he happened to find her when grey and barny were both out, when grey had lacrosse practice.
    
    richard accused her of keeping his child away from him, ramona swore she had no idea whose child he was, she just knew she loved barnaby and not richard. obviously, richard was not pleased to hear that, and the argument quickly became violent. and with ramona having such a small frame in comparison to richard, it was a terribly easy fight. richard was filled with so much hatred, that even onces she was laying on the ground, passed out, purple spots already appearing all over her body, it wasn't enough for richard. out of sheer hatred and blinding anger, richard pulled out a gun and shot ramona five times in the torso.
    
    grey and barny were pulling into their driveway when they heard the gunshots. barny urged his child to stay in the car, but grey knew his mom was home. the small eight year old ran into his house to see a stranger standing over his mother's body, gun in hand. his eyes didn't stay on richard for long, because his mother was quickly bleeding out. he rushed to her side, trying to wake her up, trying to put his small hands over as many holes as he could. barny was quick to follow his son into his house and his face furrowed in confusion as he saw richard there. sadly, his face immedately was twisted in pain as he saw his wife laying on the floor, their son desperately trying to bring her back to life.
    
    thankfully, one of the neighbors heard the gunshots and immediately called the police. in the middle of barny and richard fighting, the police arrived, but the damage was done. richard already said why he was there, he was there for his son; in the middle of them fighting, richard told barnaby the truth of what happened two months before their marriage.

    ever since greyson was eight, it was just him and his dad. and in the first eight years of his life, he was happy. he loved his life, he loved both of his parents, and everything was wonderful.
    
    but when his mother died, it seemed the joy did as well. as soon as grey's father heard the truth about grey and ramona, he's despised grey. he became obscurely tought and strict when it came to sports. he forced grey to give up volleyball, as it reminded him too much of his late wife, and forced him to completely focus on lacrosse, and made him overwork himself during practices. well when was practice? every day. greyson would be brutally woken up, to get to school on time, then have practice after school with his team, then by the time he got home, his dad ran him through even more drills. and they were intense drills too, there had been multiple accounts where greyson worked so hard that he threw up, there was even once where he passed out.
    
    greyson just chalked it up to two major things: the death of his mother, and the fact that greyson wasn't good enough at lacrosse.
    
    after a few years, and many people asking questions, grey adapted to it. he was incredibly fit, not buff, but his stamina was insane, his pain tolerance was higher than anyone, he learned to hide his reaction to things, he learned to hide how exhausted he was, he learned when to take naps throughout the day. he got better at life. he became more sociable with his teammates, not by much because grey's always been a quiet kid, but he actually laughed and joked in the locker room, he proved to actually be incredibly funny to the other boys.
    
    but there was one boy in particular that grey became attached to; palmer jones. they had just about every class together, they quickly became best friends, and he had an excuse to be away from his dad on a regular basis. truth be told, grey's dad didn't care if he was home or not, he just hated seeing his face, as it reminded him of his wife. everything about greyson reminded his father of ramona.
    
    but at least he had palmer, in school, in sports, hell there were even times where palmer's parents would let him spend the night when they had early morning practices the next day. but for some reason, it felt like more than a frienship to greyson. he had had friends before, of course, he wasn't THAT much of a wallflower; but there was something about palmer's actions towards grey; there were multiple times where palmer was closer than needed to grey, he would put his hands on grey's back as he passed by him when he really didn't need to, and just enough prolonged eye contact to make grey question everything.
    
    but the things was, grey liked it. he liked that kind of attention that palmer gave to him, and grey even started giving it back, he matched palmer's energy. the tension was building between them, and every day it became more noticeable from everyone else.
    
    there happened to be a day, after an intense game, grey felt like he ruined everything for the team. they had lost because of a dumb mistake grey made on the field and he was beating himself up over it, especially because he knew his dad was in the stands. he was the last person in the locker room, seemingly staring into nothingness. but palmer was there, he came and sat next to grey, putting his hand on grey's shoulder, trying to comfort him and remind him that it was okay, it was just one game, and he kept reminding him that he was an amazing athlete, and an even better person.
    
    the thiming was both perfect and terrible. the two were sharing an intimate moment, it was just the two of them, it just made sense that they leaned into each other and finally broke the tension that was building between them. their lips met and greyson had his first kiss, but it was with a guy. grey felt like it should've been wrong, but to him it felt wonderful, natural, he couldn't help himself from putting his arms around palmer's neck and deepening the kiss.

Though Artem was practically raised with a silver spoon in her mouth, she’s not cruel or boastful about her wealth. She wouldn’t be that way about her fame either except for the fact that most students seem to recognize her before she can even introduce herself. While it keeps most people from bullying her, she sometimes wishes she could be more unnoticeable and just blend in with the everyday school crowd.

While the young actress loves her career as much as she can, her real passion lies with singing and songwriting, which isn’t something her mother and representation team frown upon, but they don’t exactly care to hear what she’s written. They’d much rather her sing something by a professional and that’s simply not the career path Artem wants to take. Though she loves music and writing it, she doesn’t believe in her ability and will refuse to sing alone in front of people.

She’s not very rebellious or adventurous and could even be considered uptight by some, but she wishes she were different and just needs someone to help her take that leap. Artem very obviously inherited some of her mother’s anxiety, but isn’t treated for it as Elyssia refuses to ‘mess with her head’ using medication. Artem struggles in silence, even when things get overwhelming and she feels like it’s too much. She wants to be seen as strong and feels she has to be, otherwise the media will eat her alive.

All in all, Artem is a humble young movie star who’s beginning to feel the pressures of fame as a teenager. It’s not that she wants to quit, but she does want to shift focus onto something she loves rather than something she feels like she was forced into. Her fear of Gossip Girl will soon consume her along with the anxiety if she keeps at the way she’s going with no friends and no therapy, but her momager controls her life and Artem is too scared to argue with her.

Originally from England, Artem was born to two loving and doting parents who gave her everything she could have ever wanted from a young age. She had what seemed to be the perfect childhood and though she was a bit precocious and spoiled, she wasn’t bratty or mean. Her father was a businessman, occasionally having to travel for work and leave his family for weeks at a time. Young Artem didn’t understand why though and came to throw tantrums when he left, causing a strain on their relationship. Eventually, from having to care for Artem alone so often, her mother suffered a psychotic break and was sent to a mental institution for six months.

When Elyssia Ross was finally released, Artem was around eight years old, about to turn nine. Whilst in psychiatric care, Elyssia had been put on a few medications to help with the anxiety around being alone, however she eventually got off of them and had, what she describes as, a vision of stardom. Of course in her eyes she was too old for it to be about her, so it *had* to be about her gorgeous young daughter. When Damon Ross went on one of his trips for work, Elyssia packed her and Artem up and flew them out to Los Angeles without telling her husband.

Although Damon searched and searched for his lost family, he never found them and fell into a deep depression. Artem and her mother had found stardom in a small sitcom for Artem called ‘Exchanged’ which focused on foreign exchange students of all ages and the comedy that could come from the culture shock they experienced when coming to America. Playing the role until she was about twelve, Artem was becoming a household name. She went on to do a few indie movies as well as guest star on other sitcoms. She was talented and wanted and there was no doubt about it.

Just before Artem turned sixteen, she was offered a lead role in a romantic comedy about students in high school and all of the trials and tribulations they go through. The only problem? Artem hadn’t been to a school since she was nine. The director pushed her to enroll in a high school in Los Angeles to get the experience she would need for the film and of course her mother immediately agreed. Reluctantly, Artem soon found herself at St. Martin’s, knowing nobody and having no one to help her through this big transition. Even when she begins to get comfortable and thinks she might be okay, Gossip Girl appears out of left field, and Artem definitely has some secrets she’d rather keep buried.

Born the result of a teens one night stand, he was raised by his maternal grandparents for the first few years of his life until their age made it impossible for them to take care of him so he was put into foster care. He jumped through various homes, most loving and some not. As he grew he was found to have a strange mental disorder, he would go blank for a times reacting to nothing and making strange movement with his hands. He was taken to various doctors by his then foster parents and found no clear known condition.   Her online persona came by accident, she was left alone after an interview, and she found herself playing around with a camera left behind, acting like she would not have otherwise. A supposed friend saw her and egged her on and secretly recorded and posted it online, hoping to cause controversy. The video was popular with people liking this let loose person, but ironically no one believed that it was Anne-Marie acting this way with the friend lying to besmirch a celebrity figure. Anne-Marie soon discovered it, of course, a friends' betrayal was crushing but saw the video's popularity and chance for her to be more herself, so she began to act online under the name of LadyRedofLA84. Becoming an overnight sensation quickly, spending what little free time she had on it.   Her love of cooking and Music came from her grandparents on her mother side. Her grandparents ran a restaurant in a rural town. It was a popular place, with people coming from surrounding places, and was features in several shows as a hidden gem. In her younger years, she was often left in their care when she could not follow her parents, receiving genuine familial care and a general love of cooking and singing along with her grandparents. They were impressed by her ability with music and encouraged her to learn though her parents had different plans
  
  The combination of her family expectation and her influencing career becoming bigger than she could imagine eventually took their toll. She publicly collapsed from the pressure during one of her father events, she needed a change, and she thought pursuing musicas a good change. Thanks to his childhood, Madden is very humble. He downplays all achievements he accomplishes, especially if he believes they outshine someone else’s. While not shy, he’s not very good at accepting compliments, and will always blush or get nervous when he receives one. Madden does his best to make everyone around him feel welcome and valued and offers a smile to as many people as he can, having learned from his father that a smile could go a long way. Following in his father’s footsteps, Madden volunteers at various homeless shelters, and uses his newfound wealthy to give back to various charities, though he does under an alias to avoid his secret getting out. He’s very compassionate and loves to help in any way he can. While not super extroverted, Madden is very friendly and enjoys making and spending time with friends.

BIOGRAPHY

Madden Ashby was born in downtown Seattle, in the lower working class of society. He grew up in a tiny apartment that he shared with his exuberant, free-spirited artist mother and his joyful, compassionate philanthropist father. Though Alison Ashby’s art never gained the popularity other artists enjoyed and her paintings only sold for barely enough to make their rent, she loved art as much as she did her husband and son, and taught it to Madden whenever she got the chance. From the moment he could hold a crayon, Alison was constantly buying her son crayons, markers, colored pencils, and enough coloring books to last a lifetime, always encouraging Madden to color and draw. Likewise, though Graham Ashby worked a day job teaching Ethics at a local community college to support his family, his passion remained philanthropy. Even though he had very little money to spare, Graham made sure to give back in as many ways as he could, and raised Madden to do the same. Madden’s childhood was filled with enough love to last lifetimes, and he grew up envying the love his parents had for each other.

The first fifteen years of his life were like a fairytale. Though his family had very little money, Madden never wanted for anything. Even as he watched the other kids in school get iPhones and tablets and gaming console, listened to them brag about their 75” TV’s and their expensive vacations, he never envied them. What presents his parents were able to get for him, Madden treasured, but the love in his family was enough to keep him more than content. Instead of cellphones and video games, Madden entertained himself making silly paintings with his mom while she worked, and helping his dad make donation boxes for the local children’s shelters. Unfortunately, as he learned the night of his fifteenth birthday, not all fairytales have happy endings.

The accident happened so fast. One minute, they were driving down the city streets, on their way home from having dinner for his birthday at his favorite little corner diner a few blocks from their apartment, and the next, a drunk driver coming from a perpendicular street had run a red light and collided with his dad’s beat up Crown Victoria. The impact from the truck bent the Crown Victoria nearly in half, sending it skidding across the intersection until it collided with a parked vehicle on the other side. Most of what happened afterwards was in flashes in Madden’s memory. The most vivid memory he had was of waking up in the hospital, staring into the concerned eyes of a doctor and an older couple that resembled his father.

Since then, Madden was unsure what had come as more of a shock to him: finding out his parents had been killed, or learning the couple in front of him were his paternal grandparents. They introduced themselves as Aveline and Dexter Ashby, told Madden they were happy to meet him, and that they would be taking care of him now that their son and his wife had passed away. It wasn’t until a few days later when Madden was discharged from the hospital that he learned why he’d never met them. Dexter and Aveline Ashby were part of a family that came from old, aristocratic money. When their son fell in love with a poor, common class artist while attending university, they’d disapproved of the relationship. When Graham married Alison anyway, they cut him off, leaving him and his wife penniless. Graham had never spoken to them again, so they’d never known Madden existed until receiving a call from the Seattle police and being told their son and his wife had been killed. Having regretted what they’d done more than ever knowing they’d never gotten a chance to apologize to their son, Dexter and Aveline agreed to take Madden in and try to make up for their mistake.

They bought Madden all the things he’d never had growing up, introduced him to what it was like to be wealthy, and enrolled him into a wealthy private school in Los Angeles where they lived. Though Madden was grateful to not have landed in foster care, they were not his parents, and wealth wasn’t his lifestyle. Wanting to feel as normal as he could and keep his wealth a secret from his peers at school, he began telling everyone he met that he was attending St. Martin’s on an academic scholarship. Having managed to keep that secret the last two years, the appearance of Gossip Girl has shaken him, but he’s determined to keep the truth hidden.
