Carefully balancing six multicolored shots between her fingers, Bella maneuvered her way through the crowd from her in-home bar to the sliding door that led to the back patio. Currently the door was slid open, which is how she'd left it upon venturing back inside. Thank god, too, because how the hell would she have gotten it back open if someone had shut it? Well, she simply would have figured out a way. But since she didn't have to, well, all the better. "Shots, bitches!" She stopped at one of the tables, setting the glasses down and making sure to swipe one for herself before all the grabby hands got them. Lifting the small glass to her lips, she knocked back the green liquid in one go, not even making a face as the sour apple liquor hit her taste buds. "My favorite." She set the little glass back down, slinging an arm around the shoulders of the person next to her. "What'd you get?"

It was just another party at the Zabielski mansion, and Bella was at that point of tipsy where she was everyone's best friend. Though that wasn't too far off from her every day personality, it was just intensified when drinking. Even though she'd asked the person next to her which shot they'd gotten, their answer went in one ear and out of the other as Bella grew distracted by something else. Tommy had appeared at the table, another party favor in his hands in the form of a joint. Squealing, Bella let go of the person beside her, ducking down and then popping back up on Tommy's other side. "Wassat?" She nodded towards it, her eyes already bright with anticipation. He'd been in the process of bringing it to his lips when Bella popped up, and now he froze, looking down at the purple haired girl.

"Heyyy, munchkin." Tommy grinned at her, looking back at the joint in his hands. "Oh, you want this?" His grin widened as he started to hand it to her, then brought it back, holding it up out of her reach. "You're gonna have to do better than- hey!" Bella was nothing if not crafty, and with a smirk present on her lips, she grabbed the back of his neck and dragged him closer. Slamming her lips onto his, she distracted him long enough so that she could open one eye and grab the joint from his hands. Backing up a few paces, she grinned back at him, waving the joint around before bringing it to her lips.

"I'm gonna have to do what?" She teased him, taking off with another squeal when he started after her. Her laughter echoed throughout the yard as he chased her down, trying to get the joint back. An idea occurred to her, and without warning, Bella jumped into the shallow end of the pool before she started wading in deeper, making sure to hold the precious joint high above water level. "You still want it back?" She called back to Tommy, turning around to face him as she brought the joint to her lips again to take another hit. He'd stopped at the edge of the water, crossing his arms but Bella knew he wasn't actually angry. Who could be at a party like this? Waving the joint at him again, she blew him a kiss, placing one hand on her hip. "Guess I'm the winner here after all."

It almost felt surreal, being back at a halloween party at Bella Zabielski's almost as though nothing had happened. Romeo had just gotten back from "Europe" (aka rehab) a few weeks ago. He'd missed the beginning of school, and of course he was telling people that it was just because he didn't want to come home. That he was having such a grand time in all those beautiful European countries that coming back here to Manhattan just seemed like a drag. And in a way, it was true, because he hadn't wanted to come back at all. Not that he'd wanted to stay in rehab, either, though. He'd completed the program his father enrolled him in, and that was enough rehab for Romeo. Thankfully though, his old man was just as dead set on keeping Romeo's true whereabouts a secret as Romeo himself was.

Pretty much everyone knew he was back by now, but still, Romeo wanted to make a grand splash with his entrance. The party had been going on for a little while when he arrived, dressed as Freddy from Scooby Doo. It was a simple costume, easy yet effective. Who didn't know Scooby Doo? He made his way through the house, looking for people he knew and actually wanted to interact with. As the King of the school, it was his job to interact with everyone, so he did just that, making small talk here and there even with people he might not talk to on a normal basis. Eventually he made his way into the backyard, where he spotted the party hostess herself, wearing her bunny ears and standing in the middle of the pool holding a joint. For a moment he just stopped and stared, then he shook his head.

"Really, Bella?" He called to her, grinning as someone handed him a shot. He had no idea what it was, and it only took a moment's hesitation before he slammed it back. So much for rehab, right? Eh, he bullshitted his way through all of that anyway. There was no way he was going to stop drinking and partying; he was just going to have to be smarter about it. The night from a few months ago still haunted him, but he refused to think about that now. And if it took a few more shots for him to reach that point, then so be it. He found an empty space on a table nearby and set the empty shot glass down, turning to face the rest of the backyard, a grin on his face and a knowing look in his eyes. Oh yes, it was that time. Romeo was ready to party.

luciana

  • mood

    it's showtime baby

Years of practice meant Luciana had perfected the art of getting ready to an absolute T. She knew the order that worked best (hair, makeup, outfit, then hair again), she knew what music got her in the mood, and she knew exactly how much champagne she should drink to loosen her up just the right amount before leaving. She loved Halloween - not only was it the most fabulous holiday, it was also the messiest. Plenty of drama for her to lap up, and plenty of secrets for her to uncover.

Tonight, she was dressed as a cat. Of course, every Halloween she would flaunt at least four different costumes - but, this year, this one was her favourite. If she was going to go to this party, then she had to make a statement. A skin-tight dress adorned with stripes hugged her curves and sharp, dangerous eye makeup had her looking almost feline in her allure. As always, staggering heels brought her height up enough that she would no longer need to stand on her tiptoes to see over crowds. She allowed herself a small, satisfied smile as she eyed herself in the mirror one last time before making her escape.

At least, she tried to escape.

"Young lady! Where do you think you're going?" She suppressed a groan. She should have expected this - Matilda, her adopted mother, had been far more protective over her daughter as of late - which was mostly due to the dozens of phone calls she received from her real mother daily.

"Just a little party, Mamá."
Luciana was already preparing her sweetest smile as her adopted mother sauntered into view.

"Hmmm? And you think I believe it'll be a little one, huh?" Her mother's words were stern, but a teasing lilt to her tone made Luciana's shoulders sag with relief.

"Just a few friends, the usual."
She shrugged.

"Like who? Will Ashlynn be there?" Her mother always insisted on calling her best friend by her full name.

"Of course, Mamá. Can I go now?"

Matilda tutted at her daughter practically bouncing in her ridiculous heels.

"Sure, my love. Just be safe." She leaned in for a quick kiss on the. cheek that smelled of expensive perfume and her lavender skin cream. "If Romeo's there tell him I'm asking for him, alright? His mother was telling me he was away all summer."

Luciana fought the telltale flush at the sound of Romeo's name, instead offering her mother a brisk nod and a glittery smile before flouncing out the door. Straight away, she was typing furiously away at her phone.

The truth was, Luci was a hell of a lot more anxious in turning up to this party than she usually would be. The reason? It was being hosted by Bella Zabielski. Luciana had done her very best to avoid Bella for the past few weeks. Surprisingly enough, this was to avoid the drama that would inevitably follow such an encounter - thrive in altercations though she did, Luci had no interest in participating in the catfight of the century. At least, right now she wasn't. A part of her was angry - no, furious - at Bella for hooking up with that guy. It betrayed one of the very first laws of sisterhood. But another, larger, part of her was furious at herself for running straight to Ash and telling her exactly what she saw. Not that Ash hadn't deserved to know, it had just driven a rift between the three previously inseparable girls that didn't seem to be closing any time soon. It had left Luci feeling ridiculously vulnerable - the gap that Bella used to fill was still sore.

So there she was, straight away flooding Ash's messages demanding to know if she was at the party yet. She would need her best friend by her side if she was going to maintain her vicious facade.

u there yet? my mom almost busted me before i even left D : xxxx

Luciana: take a tally of all the trashy outfits u see before we meet. let's see who wins.

---

Upon arriving at the party, Luciana was met with a flood of greetings. Girls complimenting her outfit, the odd guy wolf whistling as she passed. The usual. Most of this she ignored, basking in the praise without seeming to pay it any mind. She was handed a drink almost immediately, sipping it down whilst trying not to make a face. Parties like this didn't often have the vintage she normally liked to drink.

It didn't take long for her to spot a familiar face - Romeo. There was no hesitation as she strode up to the King Bee, the click of her heels drowned out by the thrumming music.

"Hello, you."
She stopped just short of him, glancing down at the empty shot glass in front of him with a raised brow.
"I suppose I shouldn't be surprised to see you here. Love the costume. Where's Daphne?"

She tugged playfully at his outfit, winking, before taking another drink, her eyes not failing to fall on a familiar figure in the pool and making a mental note to avoid that area for now.

"My mom's asking for you."
Luci's gaze returned to Romeo, the alcohol that was slowly entering her system had her already tapping her fingers wrapped around her glass in time to the music. Kind of. Rhythm was never really Luciana's forte.

When Ash slipped out of the house and got in her Porsche convertible, no one noticed her. It was not unusual but if her dad saw her, he would investigate. Her plans for the night were not secret but Ash was really not in the mood to explain herself to anyone. Let alone her overprotective father who was only overprotective when he saw her. Any other times, Ash was on her own. Which was not really the worst. She thrived on her own, she didn’t need a parent behind her back and wanted to feel her freedom and independence. Only then she could prove to all those losers she was the real deal.

Once in her car, she checked her face in the rear mirror and refreshed blood-red lipstick covering her plump lips. With a self-confident smirk, she fixed her hair and tamed ever little loose strand of her hair, putting it in its place. “Smokin’.” she mumbled and only then she was ready to actually leave. Getting ready for tonight took her long but it was worth it in order to make her shine. It wouldn’t do for her otherwise. And while the whole party was taking place in the house of her archnemesis Bella Zabielski, it still did not stop this girl from putting together her poison Ivy costume which was not leaving too much to imagination.

The Porsche’s engine revved as she left the garage and turned the corner, whipping the horses under the hood towards Bella’s house. The Halloween party was not complete without the head cheerleader and her phone was already beeping with messages from her loyal subjects who couldn’t wait for their fearless leader to arrive. Not that Ashlynn was about to bother herself with messages from her fellow cheerleaders. There was only one name she was concerned was Luci’s and Ash grabbed her phone from the car holder, opening those messages.

Ash: I’ve just arrived, already see some trash that needs to be taken out -_-

One more sultry look in the rear mirror later, Ash was making her way towards the house. Her nose was wrinkled upon gazing at a group of nerds assembled by the entrance, dressed like some sort of poor attempt on Justice League. They chuckled and whispered something as Ash made her way towards the door and the two of them actually approached her, starting to say something. “Out of my way, Bert and Ernie.” Ash growled at them, pushing them away before she disappeared inside Bella’s house. What were they even thinking?

Her hazel brown eyes were on a lookout as her devilishly high heels were carrying her green-clad figure across the house until she finally noticed the tigress she wanted to meet. “There you are.” she sighed. “This house is a horrible maze. Plus I saw Thalia Morrano dressed as Daphne from Scooby-Doo. Who the hell does she think her Fred is?” Ash scoffed and only then she noticed Romeo in his costume. “Oh…never mind.” she scrunched her nose as her eyes ran across his figure, taking in his full costume from jeans to the orange ascot. “You’re here too? How was…Europe?”

“This was a mistake…” Gabby murmured as her father stopped the car in front of Bella’s house. She was looking at her reflection in a small compact mirror and her face and hair just didn’t look right. Nothing did as a matter of fact. It was Rosalyn’s idea to put Gabby in these clothes and the blonde felt more than insecure. Sure, this was a costume party and everyone pretended to be something they were not but this just seemed way too much at this point. Gabby Menard was not any courageous girl, nor was she someone who liked to be in the center of attention. She was the perfect embodiment of a wallflower and if it was up to her, her evening would be spent in her room with soft tones of her Spotify playlist humming in the background while she would be reading her book.

Rosalyn said it was important to hang out with people her age and Gabby’s dad nodded eagerly. These days, he agreed with Rosalyn on everything, especially when it came to Gabby and what they called “getting her out of her shell”, wherever they meant. Gabby was not convinced it was true but here she was, about to enter the lion’s den. “You gonna sit there all night? Come on in, sis, we have a house to bring down.” Damon grinned like an asshole he was and slipped out of the car in his cocky Danny Zuko outfit, jogging towards the entrance. “He’s right, munchkin, you know that, right?” Gabby’s father turned to her, offering a reassuring smile.

“Yeah, sure.” Gabby breathed. “Whatever you say, dad.” she added and reached for the door handle, opening the door. With a soft sigh, she left the car and whatever her father was saying next dissolved in the music and loud noises coming from the house. Gabby tried to blow one curled blonde strand out of her face but it was relentless on staying there. Her first steps were unsure and to say she was nervous would be an understatement. She was the new girl, the one people barely knew. There were only a few people who wanted to hang out and everything was just too…new. And Gabby was not the kind of person to just get out there and offer her friendship.

Wrapping her arms around her waist to hide the naked part of her body, she entered the house and looked around. Music was thudding in her chest already and her anxiety was peaking. Her mouth went dry and she needed to drink but the small bar offered what only seemed to be alcoholic beverages. “Oh, joy…” she mumbled under her breath, biting her lip hard. “I don’t think I can do this.” she added to herself and turned on her heel, trying to find her way out of the house. But the place was too big and what she thought was the entrance was the back door leading to the pool area with even more people. All color left Gabby’s face and she froze on the spot, hoping the ground would open and swallow her whole.

Jazmine

interactions

Bella (mentioned) and Gabby Menard

Halloween had been Jazmine’s favorite holiday for as long as she could remember. There was something about all the black and orange, the ghosts, the costumes, the throwback Disney movies, and the chilly sweater weather that filled her with a whole lot of joy when the spooky season rolled around. When she was a child, Jaz would plan out her costumes months in advance, always wanting to one-up herself from the year before. She and her mother would always design something by hand rather than just buying something generic from Party City like everyone else; although it was always a lot of work, Jaz simply loved the opportunities she got to bond with her mom. However, as Jazmine started to grow older and her mother a tad less patient, her costumes began to grow less intricate than before, and eventually she just gave up on the holiday tradition that she and her mom had going.

It wasn’t long before she found herself following the trends set by the girls around her. In the words of Cady Heron, Halloween was no longer the holiday where she’d dress in the scariest outfit available and beg strangers for candy; It was now the one time of the year where a girl could dress like a total slut, and none of the others could say anything about it. This year, Jazmine decided to be Lara Croft, also known as the Tomb Raider; her cleavage was more revealing than usual, and the mini shorts she wore had to be hidden underneath a pair of gray sweatpants until she could make it past her parents and into her car. While her mother probably would’ve been a bit more lenient, her father would’ve flipped his shit if he knew what she’d decided on wearing that night.

Jaz was one of the first party-goers to arrive at Bella’s house; she’d left her sweatpants in her backseat, and brought nothing else with her besides her cell phone (obviously), a tube of lipgloss, and a couple of pre-rolled joints. She was determined to have a good time, and for her that meant getting violently high before the rest of her peers could arrive. It wasn’t long before she found herself glued to a chair on Bella’s back patio, her eyes red and her body completely relaxed. It was only when Bella came waltzing back with shots for the table that she finally perked up a bit, reaching for one of them as soon as they hit the table. Jazmine momentarily stared down at the small glass of clear liquid that she held in between her fingers, as if silently debating whether or not she should drink it, before shaking her head and knocking the drink back. It was a Halloween bash, for fucks sake... Bella's Halloween bash at that; It was a no-brainer that she'd be expected to drink a bit, and a shot or two… or four was not gonna kill her.

“Eugh,”
Jaz said to Bella, who’d drooped her arm over her shoulders, as soon as the liquid had stopped burning her throat.
"Tequila. Just my luck."
But Bella had gotten sidetracked just that quickly, and ran off before Jaz could get another word in. Shrugging her shoulders, Jaz simply turned her head and continued to people-watch, curious to see who else had arrived. It didn’t take long for her eyes to land upon none other than Romeo Powell. This was Jazmine’s first time actually seeing the young man since his return from “vacation,” and she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of annoyance as she watched the King Bee slam back a shot of liquor. And when Luciana entered the picture, Jaz rolled her eyes and forced herself to redirect her attention elsewhere. This was a party, after all. She was supposed to be having fun, not thinking herself into a bad mood.

So, without hesitation, Jaz leapt up from her seat at the patio table and made a beeline for the first familiar face her eyes had locked onto. Gabby Menard stood not too far away looking like a deer caught in headlights, so Jaz figured she needed to see a friendly face.
“Well, look who decided to show… Don’t you look so freakin’ cute!”
Jaz exclaimed as she came to a stop next to Gabby, a bright smile on her face.
“Where’s your drink at, girl? It’s a fully stocked bar in that house… not to mention everything is free ninety-nine! I don’t know about you, but I’m not one to turn down a free drink. Oh, and I have another joint on me if you wanna take a few hits. Come onnnnn, let’s get lit!”
As she continued speaking, she couldn’t help but begin to groove a bit to the music that pumped through the indoor speakers. She even grabbed Gabby’s hands in an attempt to get her to dance along with her.

It was only then that Jaz realized how uncomfortable the other young woman seemed to be, and decided to dial it back a few notches.
“Orrr maybe not. Sorry. I may or may not be a little high off my ass. I really just wanted to make sure you were having a good time since it’s your first time partying with the Spence crowd.”
And it was true; Jaz knew that Gabby was new to the school and probably had yet to make a whole lot of friends. Soon, Jaz was linking her arm with Gabby’s and nodding her head in the direction of the pool.
“Come on, let’s go and find out if Bella has something in the kitchen that doesn’t taste like rubbing alcohol.”
