One hundred years ago, man and machine left the barren Earth to travel across the stars, and found that they were not alone in the universe. They discovered a strange new world, full of lush plants, intelligent life, and strange magic, and called it Genesis, for its discovery marked the beginning of a new chapter in humanity's book of history. They made peace with the planet's natives, the N'dulla people, and learned about Genesis' magic from them, and in turn, the N'dulla learned from man and machine about technology. A harmony was struck, and both sides embraced the unknown aspects of the other.
Fifty years ago, the Foundry was formed. A formal alliance between those of Earth and those of Genesis, the Foundry's intent was to further strengthen the new bond between machine and mysticism, and blend the two into a perfect union.
Twenty years ago, the Seal that is Eternal was broken by a roving band of the Foundry's Wilderpeople, releasing the Tsai-Malloc, called the Beneath-Ones by the N'dulla, who harnessed the forbidden magics of necromancy, mind control, and corruption. The Foundry fought back, and was able to beat the Tsai-Malloc back for a while, but it was left broken. Those of a more morbidly curious bent wished to study the forbidden magics and attempt to harness them, while the upstanding members shunned the idea. The Foundry shattered as a result, and the Dungeoneers were formed, with the New Foundry forming as a result.
Now, the Tsai-Malloc are making a reappearance, and have brought more powerful forbidden magics with them. The New Foundry must be spurred into action.
