Advice/Help Homebrew Races?

I'm a beginner with D&D Race creation. A large group of Fallers and I are playing a Gravity Falls themed D&D game on Discord. I have yet to create my chosen character, Deerper. Does anyone have advice on Homebrew Races? Or If you can provide the details of the Race itself?
If anyone can give me a tutorial through Pm that'd be great! I always appreciate the help.

The DMG 285 offers advice on creating new races? I'd also ask your DM this since they're going to be the one who green lights your race.
