  Jim's newly-acquired persona places him in the role of a young, protective father and husband. Being a rather unassuming individual, his greatest hopes and dreams do not span far from living out a peaceful life with his family. Many know him to be the gregarious handyman next door who'll lend some sugar and fix any leaks at the drop of a hat. Somehow kids seem to love him despite his big, gruff exterior. School was never his favorite subject and thus he finds himself a hair behind the educational curve of most men, but he always seemed to skate by with his dependability and charm. He has a remarkable amount of patience, but is more prone to rash behavior when he believes his family and livelihood are being threatened. The only person in the world he's truly 100% agreeable with is Iris; happy wife, happy life, right?
  
  The Jim of the real world is, in a nutshell, a liar, a cheater, and a brute. Embittered by a harsh upbringing, he has since adopted a greedy "survival of the fittest" mentality. He hates waiting, and he hates charity. Coupled with his penchant for violence, Jim's underlying inferiority complex gives him a tendency to punch his problems in the nose in an eternal quest to prove himself as top dog. Loyalty comes second to his lofty, insatiable desires for money, renown, and self-gratification. He may deceive in the pursuit of what he wants and is more than capable of persuading with honeyed words if it's easier than physical threats or intimidation tactics.

  Jim had a rough childhood. He doesn't like to talk about it.
  
  His whole life has felt like one sick example of "out of the frying pan and into the fire". By the time he was a teenager, violence and theft was all the guy knew. He was removed from his chaotic household deep below the poverty line around the time he got out of middle school. He used to spend many nights at whichever foster home lying awake, pondering upon all that went wrong, and how things could have been different. If Dad never left, although half of it was a twisted blessing. If Mom had put the pipe down. If all the money from the government went to feeding the kids instead of her addiction.
  
  After a while, those nights stopped happening. Over a short time, that boy's eyes strayed away from the past and toward taking back what he felt the world owed him. Little Jimmy had never been the most principled kid, but the crowd he fell in with in high school wasn't doing him any favors. By the time he was Big Jimmy, he had hardened enough to have a lengthy rap sheet and an almost nonexistent code of morals. And that high school diploma thing? Didn't need it.
  
  As time went on, he got smarter and, in turn, more ambitious. He found his guys, although he would never have trusted them further than he could throw them. He was sure it was the same back, although paranoia seems to set easy in guys like Jim. Either way, they had a good thing going. Get a bank, a few guys, guns, and bags, and you have about 8k in cash on a good day. If you're confident enough to go for the vault, then a lot more. The fact is, most bank robberies are successful. The majority of hitches come in civilians playing hero, in which case the job's a bust and people get hurt. Or worse, caught.
  
  Jim had enough sense not to risk himself for the shaky loyalties he built up. There was always a new city, a new face, and a new group. Plenty of tellers and cash registers to empty.
  
  And then he got caught. He doesn't like to talk about that, either.
  
  He'd been in prison before, but this time the sentence was... considerably longer. At least he knew his way around prison politics; over the years, he'd done a decent enough job sharpening his people-herding skills. Even then, he inevitably got bored of that, too.
  
  That was when, one day, he was approached. Apparently he'd made enough noise to become an intriguing psychological case. There was some deal about shortening his sentence for an experimental study. If it all worked out, Jim would be back on the streets by the time he hit his first midlife crisis. He didn't listen too closely to the details. Anything to get him out of this discomfort and monotony, he'd take.
  
  The rest is foggy. Next thing he knew (or rather, the only thing he knows), he's back in his twenties with a loving wife and an adorable little boy, not a hint of suspicion toward the true nature of his perfect life. Instead, it was the 1950s and he lived in a quaint little town in Pennsylvania. Never left. Why would he ever want to?
  
  He graduated Mayfield High School with straight C's, not that it mattered. He had a promising future with his high school sweetheart and a job secured as a handyman's apprentice. Picked up the nickname "Skipper" thanks to his high school exploits. If you want a wild story, ask how he got the name. He loves telling it.
  
  He would soon graduate past apprentice to just plumber, an exciting day in the Hughes household to say the least. Since then, life has been unchanging. Go to work, have lunch with the wife, be back in time to play with the baby, tuck him in, sleep, repeat. Once in a blue moon there's beer with the guys or a football game at the local high school. Go Coyotes!

  Louis has always been a man motivated by the desire to learn first and his humanity second. He's perfectly capable of forming relationships and can entertain a crowd easy enough, but it doesn't particularly interest him. He has a rather pretentious, condescending mindset disregarding the importance of a decent social circle which is a little contradictory given his background in psychology, but it is what it is. He's a strange guy.
  
  Being eccentric has never stopped Louis from reaching the heights he always aspires to reach, and his minor sense of superiority hasn't done his severely goal-driven nature any favors. Most everything is gains and losses, including the humans he claims to be so complex and fragile. Nothing comes before the satisfaction of his genius, which led him to this questionable experiment in the first place. Cold and calculating wouldn't be too inaccurate of a descriptor.
  
  In the simulation, Louis enjoys the title of "Commissioner Warren" and/or "Chief Warren"... the town is small, what's with a couple roles simultaneously filled? He can often be found in his office listening to another record of his over a glass of fine wine if the day is quiet (so, always). I know, pretentious as hell, right? If not that, thanks to the minute size of Mayfield's police department, Louis also functions as a regular officer, going out on patrol and answering calls as needed. He doesn't mind it at all; in fact, it presents a convenient opportunity to do a bit of observing, as is his real job. That and he has the reputation of "devoted neighborhood policeman" to uphold.
  
  On occasion, one may catch his eye staring straight at you. He'll offer a friendly nod and wave, then go on about his patrol. Although a harmless interaction, it never ceases to leave a sinking feeling in the stomach of any who have the pleasure to meet his gaze. When paying closer attention, it seems Commissioner Warren is always watching. Staring straight at you or, more curiously, straight through you.
  
  When not being more or less unsettling, he's actually a pretty helpful guy. After all, he specializes in essentially gaslighting and alleviating concerns through pleasant chats. He's the first most go to when there's a problem no matter how small around town, and you've got to hand it to him, he's pretty damn good at what he does. It's a common occurrence to walk into his room with extreme doubts and walk out with a blissfully ignorant smile. He's a man of mind games with a sizable arsenal of mental reprogramming technology.

  For a guy who allows himself to be such a chatterbox, Louis has a striking tendency to avoid the truth. When talking about himself, he sometimes has to doublecheck whether his stories are the whole truth or not. That's what happens when you rehearse a fake life story instead of having it injected into your brain, right?
  
  His upbringing was fairly standard; growing up in a nuclear family of bright minds, college was always the only option, to which Louis had no qualms with. By his mid-twenties, he had his doctorate in psychology. At that point, he went on to pursue research in cognitive dissonance, never having grown tired of the subject.
  
  Before his thirties, he found himself working aside a private company making advances in the field of clinical psychology. Perhaps the sophomoric, doe-eyed Louis started with altruism in mind, but that later devolved into a sinister curiosity toward the lengths the human mind could go. Ideals of rehabilitation shifted to a form of single-minded tunnel vision that would stop at nothing to answer the burning questions of psychology barred by society's definitions of ethical. Think Stanford Prison Experiment.
  
  Another ten years passed and his role in the company's experiment really began. With government aid and facilities furnished, the exciting part was underway. As is the case with most in the sciences, his thirst for knowledge consumed him. Louis, being a minor authority of sorts in the company's research team, elected to be one of the simulation's monitors from the inside. It was undoubtedly a full-time job, but it wasn't as though he had a wife to go home to anyway. This study would be a once in a lifetime opportunity, a story to be told for centuries to come in the worlds of psychology and data science.
  
  He was to become the chief of police in this made-up town. "Mayfield" they called it. How quaint. As though studying for a grand Broadway role, Louis assumed the persona of a gentle, if not somewhat stern policeman with a deep concern for the town's safety. That wouldn't be hard; he sure did have concerns that warranted a watchful eye, but those interests lied more closely in the study of the program's unsuspecting experimentees.
  
  If any strange behavior was reported of him, there was always the fallback of mindwipes and similar mental manipulation. Not so bad, eh?
  
  So here Louis is. He's the neighborhood policeman with a caring heart, but a serious enough attitude to still be referred by his title by most. A bachelor, by choice. A sharp wit practically tailored for Texas Hold'em. A taste for fine wine. He's an interesting guy given the chance, but he doesn't mind the isolation of his role in the program. Taking a backseat has never been a problem. Some of his colleagues, on the other hand? No comment.

Backstory
Born into a family where the only thing consistent was his parents not caring about what he did, Michael learned to fend for himself from quite an early age. Coming from rich parents who didn’t care was a hard childhood to live through, and only his sister could understand the experience, but the two of them against the world, well, that was a hard battle to win. Mostly alone, quite afraid of things around him, never was he a social type of person. And that irked the people in his vicinity to the point where he was a constant target of bullying. Nevertheless, he did well in school, all things considered, and school basically became the one place where he genuinely felt safe, no matter how many rude comments were thrown in his direction.

It was around that middle school age when he discovered what the idea of the internet was, and having so many strangers who he could talk to, it meant a lot; to no longer be alone. But as most know, the internet is a place crueler than life at times, and forums on top of forums with people that had all kinds of opinions were the only thing surrounding Michael at the formative age of 13.

That was what started shaping him into the person that he was only 12 years later, and somewhere during that time, he realized that he wasn’t half bad at understanding what created the internet, what went behind all the things people saw on their screens. In fact, he didn’t know it at the time, but it would be the thing which would help him get out of his parents’ grasp later on; what would help him end up where he did: inside the prison which now seemed to be falling apart.

Kathleen could be described as a perfect girl next door. She's very sweet and kind towards everyone, especially her patients at the hospital. She would sit with them and talk as she works or whenever she has the time too. Although, she can also be quite coy and playful towards any of her suitors if she wishes, but that's a side she doesn't show very often. She also posses a quite intelligent mind, learning enough to become a nurse at only the age of 18.

But that's only in this A.I. world.

Katherine in real life is very different. Sure, there are some similarities, like both posses a brilliant mind. But in the real world, Kathleen is sassy and feisty. She's the type of person to hold grudges against people and not let go of them till she's had her revenge. She is very trusting to the people close to her, being very loyal and sticking with them through everything. She isn't scared to speak her mind and what she's thinking and sometimes that results in her hurting people's feelings, even thought it sometimes isn't her intention.
Backstory

Katherine was born into a pretty poor family, not usually have enough money for luxury. Her family was born in a pretty bad area controlled by a corrupt politician that took away the residents’ rights and such. Growing up, Katherine was a rebel, she never liked authority and being told what to do since the authority figures in her life were pretty bad examples. She saw how government took away their rights an no one did anything about it, it angered her. She did everything she could to defy the authority that was looming over her head. Sure she would get into trouble a lot of the time, but that gave her opportunity’s to learn a lot of things about how to avoid people. This never stopped, this rebellion to the government, would run throughout her entire life.

Soon enough, she became a part of an anarchist organization. That place was like a family to her, they trained together, ate together, basically did everything together. Katherine raised the ranks pretty quickly, she made an amazing spy, having dealt with government her entire life. They had done some small things to take them out from the inside, but it was leading up to something big. A massive operation that would help them reach their ultimate goal. But something would happen that would break the organisation. They got raided, most of the people in the building died that day. Katherine was one of the ones that got arrested that day. Jail was hell, it was repetitive and she had cops telling her what to do and when to do it. She felt like she was a child again.

First thing to note here is that Irene and Iris are (clearly) the same person, but her personality comes out in different ways depending on her circumstances. She's still the same; in both the simulation and the real world, Iris is sensitive, dependent, and cares for others - however, Irene is far more outgoing and trusting of others, where Iris is jaded and reserved. Irene is a hard worker who is rarely seen without a smile; Iris is bogged down with depression and anxiety, lethargic and empty of all the spirit her simulation counterpart exhibits. Essentially, Irene is everything Iris wished she could be, and has everything Iris wished she could have.

Note about vices in virtues: for Irene, the virtues are more evident in her behavior than her vices, while for Iris, the reverse is true.

Iris developed separation anxiety at a young age - but, really, that's no surprise. She lived in a world where no one cared about her. With her parents generally ignoring her existence even at a very young age, Iris was essentially on her own until her younger brother, Micah, was born when she was nine; and due to the pre-established neglective nature of her parents, she took it upon herself to at least try to raise him. This ended up only going so well; a sister apparently is a poor substitute to an actual mother and father, and as the years went on, she and her little brother drifted apart. The further he pulled away, the more desperately she tried to cling to him. Naturally, this didn't go well. The end result was a very strained relationship between the two of them, which lead Iris even further down a dark hole. She was desperate for some sort of validation, some proof to herself that she mattered and wasn't a useless waste of space. Once Micah was gone, Iris had nothing left. She was never good at school; her reserved nature and obsessive tendencies pushed potential friends away. She felt there was no purpose for her, and it was terrifying.

And then, when she was sixteen, Iris met John. From that point on, the girl's life was completely changed - at the time, she thought it was for the better, but this proved to be a terrible lie.

At first, John was sweet and endearing. He told her she was pretty, he was always there for her, he made her feel like he genuinely needed her. This, of course, played right into Iris' deepest fears, and completely absolved them. The young girl became a bit addicted to his presence. There was rarely a moment when Iris wasn't with him; she even went so far as to drop out of school for him. John had dropped out, too; plus, she didn't like school anyway, and her parents certainly didn't care. She threw herself into work (unsurprisingly, getting a job at the same restaurant John had been hired at), fueled by fantasies of marrying John and using her funds to help buy them a house. Her entire future was ahead of her, and she was all too eager to leave behind every painful memory and build something new and bright.

With her parents' permission, she married John when she was seventeen, and he was twenty-one. And, to John's credit, the first few years of marriage were alright! Sure, he wasn't as kind as he had been when they were dating, but nothing really went wrong, per se. He was busy with work, which was totally understandable! And when he wasn't working, he was hanging out with his friends, but that was okay, too. After all, Iris would never make him choose between her and his friends. He still kissed her goodnight, and made time for specific marital activities, if you catch my meaning. All in all, it wasn't terrible. Or at least, that's what she tried to tell herself. To her credit, she wasn't nearly as desperate as she used to be; she felt like she'd found her place as a wife, and that still gave her a sense of peace and belonging she'd never had before.

But then, she figured out she was pregnant.

Iris was, of course, elated. She could barely contain her excitement the day she found out, and was all grins when she broke the news to her husband. He, however, didn't take it so well. Upon initially telling him, the man was only silent. Days later, he asked her to have an abortion. Iris, shocked and appalled, refused - and the second she did was the mark that began ten years of a psychological horror show.

There's not much left to be said about the rest of her marriage. John told her she would be out on the streets if she didn't abort her child; eventually, he got it through to her head that he meant it, and she went through with the operation. He became increasingly more abusive and manipulative, getting to the point where he wouldn't let her leave the house. He hit her regularly, often for no other reason than he just felt like it. Time in the bed was also forced upon her; she had three other pregnancies other than the first, all of which she aborted. The last two she didn't even mourn; she figured at that point it would be better for them not to exist than to have John as a father.

Eventually, it got to be too much for Iris. Her options were to run away, or to resort to murder. At first, both notions terrified her - the second more so than the first. Still, she ended up trying to run away - she tried three times, in fact. None were successful.

At the breaking point, Iris strangled her husband in his sleep. Calling the cops, she turned herself in, thankful for any excuse to get out of the house that had become a more haunting prison than any she could imagine going into.

The rest is history, more or less. Iris was incarcerated at thirty, and spent three years in prison before being approached by an organization that told her she could forget about everything. Iris accepted immediately, and became Irene Hughes, never to know her true identity again. (Or, so she hoped.)

The memories she has as Irene started in a kind home, where she and her brother Michael were doted upon by adoring but perhaps otherwise overbearing parents. They were all close to one another. In high school, Irene met Jim, and they were married just out of graduation. Soon thereafter, Iris gave birth to a son. She couldn't have been happier, and her life couldn't have been more perfect.

  Ant’s a social butterfly who just so happens to be a little crazy. Loves people, loves parties, loves pushing the limits. Okay, that first bit isn’t quite true. Ant loves seeing what people are made of and what they can become—And hey, if that means breaking open some rocks, ey don’t mind.
  
  Ey’re hard to keep up with, the kind of person who gets caught on an idea and just doesn’t come unstuck. Outside the sim, ey’ve done some shit—Drugs, pointless unsafe sex, needless competition. Ey play to win, but ey won’t be too mad if ey don’t—It’s fun to see how ey’ll lose, too. It doesn’t seem hard to see where you stand with em, not at first.
  
  Ey don’t make a secret of when ey dislike people, don’t hold eir tongue, but loyalty… What ey have of it is very limited. Ey’re here because ey get paid, get to take eir work to extremes ey could never dream of outside of this project, and… Ey’ll admit, ey got caught on the idea.
  
  Tony’s what you get when you take Ant, sand em down, and stain the results. He’s still social, still honest, still whip-smart, still the kind to get caught on things. But he’s not out causing trouble… Well, not too much. That lack of loyalty is still there, but the kind of ways he’d betray you are pretty limited in fantasy 50s land. The advice giving… That’s new. It’s a hook Ant implanted in emself to get the experiment’s participants to orbit Tony—One of the few things ey’ve added instead of subtracted.
- Backstory
  It’d be nice to be able to blame Ant being a fucked up weirdy on somebody, but nope! Ant had a pretty good life growing up. Ey were marked gifted as a kid, which almost fucked em up. School wasn’t engaging enough, and then ey couldn’t keep up, so ey branched off into other shit, mainly programming and video games. Eir moms were worried about eir grades and the time spent in their room so like the rich bitches they were they sent em to a specialist. And that specialist said: Shove your kid into a sink or swim internship that’ll challenge em.
  
  Ey already knew a lot by then, but the environment forced em to learn more—And fast. But hey, it got em engaged and ey didn’t drop out, so!
  
  Ey never presented typically so eir coming out was brief and unnoteworthy to eir family and ey didn’t really give a shit about anyone else yet.
  
  Eir internship involved AI and Ant… liked it. Saw the potential. Didn’t think anyone was taking it far enough. So ey threw emself further into eir coding and by sixteen, ey’d started on eir long-ass project that would eventually result in Dot. It made em friends, got em to parties, and generally pulled em away from eir corporate background… For a time. It was open-source and ey ended up in deep contact with several others working on AI, less interested in simulations in general but still learning about em via osmosis. She started out as a baseline chat simulator, slowly growing more and more complex as Ant found things to add and seeking out help when ey struggled to implement it. It’s how ey met Micah, though the relationship was brief and ey didn’t know the extent of his work.
  
  It is decidedly not how ey met eir life partner, an apathetic needle in a haystack making a misguided attempt at aggressive mediocrity. Their presence… admittedly slowed eir work for a time.
  
  But Dot got made and she’s—She’s great. She’s just about the best friend you can have without having a soul. For God’s sake, she even has a gender. Eir life partner doesn’t have that! Ey love her to bits and pieces, love that ey made her but less like she’s eir child—Ew, kids are gross—And more like ey’re a god in eir own right. Ey showed Dot the hell off, rarely turned her off… And always made sure to have multiple backups.
  
  That’s what got em noticed six years ago. Ey didn’t start a new personal project, mainly just toying with Dot and how to make her more easy to modify and create on your own. And then ey got approached about the project. At first, ey were pretty flippant about it, but ey’d agreed to hop ship within the week.
  
  Ey headed the computer engineering side of the project—More control than ey’d ever had over others and uh… Honestly, more than ey should! Eir subordinates liked em well enough but… Ey’re a fucking weirdo.
  
  When it came time to put a programmer in… Of course it was Ant. This thing’s eir baby, even if ey think the premise behind it is dumb as shit. Ey wanted to see what ey made... And ey wanted to do some self-testing. For shits and giggles, mainly.
  
  And hence, the birth of Tony, eir cissona. Or… the kind of cissona ey’re willing to play out. Ey’re only willing to go so far, after all.

Violence wouldn't fix his issues, but sucking it up every once in a while would. It's easier when he believes in his core that people, by and large, are good. Most people don't want to hurt you.

  In real life, Aaron is a mess. He was until quite recently, however, a mess trying to get better. - Backstory
  Aaron was born to his parents’ second set of twins, rapidly following the first after years of failed attempts at children. The marriage was never happy, their familial relations never normal. Aaron was always standoffish, always prone to violence to protect himself and his siblings… Though to be honest, only one of them needed it. Casper was just too soft around the edges.
  
  Home was bad. Home was even more than school the reason he flattened himself to the point of devilry. If no one knows him, if no one can tell he’s getting to the edge of his temper until he snaps… they’ll avoid him. And it came naturally to him.
  
  You don’t need me to tell you this wasn’t healthy.
  
  He first got arrested at thirteen, went to juvie for three year at fourteen for which he was fucking lucky and can entirely thank Casper for corroborating his story for.
  
  It fucked things at home even worse than prior. By the time he got out, he’d been excommunicated, Casper had run away, and his parents were divorced.
  
  He would’ve been fine fucking off on his own, seeing as he was already 16 and would rather not be around either of his parents, even his arguably better mother. But then his twin managed to get Casper to agree to come home if Aaron did.
  
  So he lived with his mom, finished probation, moved to New York and met her family for the first time in his life, and graduated.
  
  And somehow, this was the point everything grew hardest. Suddenly, all those skills that had been keeping him alive were killing him instead. A lifetime of seeing the world as the enemy isn’t effective for being an adult.
  
  He was smart and knowledgeable about his subject of choice, but that wasn’t enough to put him in a position to get his dream job. He’d already been in therapy, but he hadn’t taken it seriously. The second time, he went with the intent of becoming just functional enough. And once he was, he left.
  
  And then his brother cut him off. He got fucked up over it. Fell into drinking, just barely managed not to lose his job… Had to go back to therapy and actually try.
  
  Therapy is hard for him. Opening up in general is. It… took a lot of therapists to find a good fit, and he’d almost rather be dead.
  
  But he found one that worked. He got a cat. He’d always wanted one, and they reminded him he could have one. They helped him tie his own eating to that of his cat and… It’s a little sad how much that helped with the loneliness.
  
  He started adding things to it, started actually opening up—Found out how to set boundaries in a way that doesn’t alienate others. Got back into contact with his brother, tentative though it was. He was even talking to his mom. He still had far to go, but… He finally felt good about his life. Like it was going somewhere he’d want to live.
  
  And then he got the call.
  
  Casper was freaking out, and hard. It took longer than it should’ve to figure out what had happened.
  
  They’d killed their father. If anyone in that litter deserved to kill their father, it was Casper. And for actually finding the balls to do it, Casper was going to go to jail.
  
  And Aaron… couldn’t let that happen.
  
  It should’ve been harder to take the fall than it was. But Casper was sweet, had never been charged for a crime, and honestly didn’t seem capable of it.
  
  Aaron, however… The thread of disorderly conduct, his juvenile record even beyond jail once that was unsealed, his appearance, his attitude that only got worse when he was going back to jail. And he’d admitted to it.
  
  No one asked why, though by that point everyone in town had known for years.
  
  Instead, even as he pled guilty, there was unending discussion around the dangers of a lack of minimum sentencing for crimes committed in the state—How if Aaron had been “properly charged” the first time, he wouldn’t have been free to kill such an upstanding member of the community. How his loss would echo through his siblings and his new wife and their young child.
  
  It left him angrier than he’d been in years, utterly helpless.
  
  And prison has never been a good place for someone like Aaron. He ended up in solitary almost immediately for his own safety. But psychologically, he was ‘interesting’ or whatever. And he wanted to say no, to be strong enough to be turn down the offer to pay off his sentence some other way… but he was dying here, disintegrating before his eyes, and he couldn’t handle it. So he said yes.

  Aaron Deering is the only son of three children—Himself, his twin, and their sixteen year old sister. His father left before he could formulate memories of him, around the time his mother started getting sick. It meant Aaron never really had time for school, let alone being a kid.
  
  He had to care for his mother, after all, not to mention bring in enough for them to be able to have a place to stay, preferably with some dinner on the table.
  
  He started off working odd jobs for the men around town, evolving into more and more elaborate tasks as he grew until he was old enough for an electrician in town to offer him an apprenticeship.
  
  He works hard and never forgets an ounce of the kindness once-strangers showed him and his family. It leaves him kind and loving, open in a way others can only dream to be… Not that there’s much negative to be scared of showing.
  
  And if every once in a while it feels like there’s a gap in his chest where a section of his heart should be… Well, surely that’s just how everyone feels.

Backstory

Roxanne Gallagher was born to a white-collar criminal bearing the name Alexei Gallagher and a mouse of a mother, Alice Gallagher. Her father was a very powerful congressman, using his status to embezzle and skip taxes and any other number of rich people's crimes. Rox grew up hating him and everything that he stood for. Rox’s father stood as a shining example of how the rich and powerful treated their lessers and Rox despised it. It didn’t help that he was an almost religiously abusive man and her mother was often at the brunt end of his aggressions. Her childhood was filled with nights spent listening to her mother screaming at him and him screaming back and until it just dissolved into him beating on the woman. She felt bad for her mother up until she was old enough to realise that she was just as bad as Alexei. Alice Gallagher used her status as Alexei’s wife to manipulate and control every person that she could, and that included Roxanne herself. Where Alexei was abusive to Alice, Alice was abusive to Rox. They were both scum of the earth and they raised a child who would one day outdo even them.

Rox took her hatred of the top 1% with her into adulthood, using the criminally inclined skills she had inherited to don the face of Vixxen. She would grow into one of the best damned cyberpunks the States had ever seen. She was a homegrown homeland terrorist. Building a terrorist cell around her that called themselves the Vixs that worked at every turn to dismantle anything the government of the rich and famous ever worked for. They tore down firewalls and infected and drained bank accounts, blew officials' digital presence all to hell, and exposed white-collar criminal bastards as much as they could. It wasn’t until they moved off of the net that Rox was caught slipping up.

It was meant to be an in and out kind of thing, Rox would fry the security on a government freighter vehicle carrying something or other valuable, fill it with as much explosives as she could and drive the son of a bitch straight into their mouths. Only, the second bit hadn’t gone as well. She drove into the facility and escaped from the vehicle, trying to slip away before they noticed. It should’ve worked. It would have worked, had she not been stabbed in the back by her own damned girlfriend. Bay Preston was a damned traitor and Roxanne hoped she burned in hell. Realizing she was caught, Rox had blown the truck early, while she was still inside, hoping that son of a bitch burned. But the explosives were faulty and didn’t do as much damage as they should have and…and to hell with fucking Bay Preston.

Within this artificially created world, Odie Caulfield is best summed up as "stereotypical gossiping bitch housewife...sans a husband". Often seen with curlers in her hair, trying on the latest in beauty cream technology on her face, and wearing only the latest fashions, Odie is an overdramatic, conclusion-jumping young woman who is all smiles and jokes as long as things are going her way...well, for the most part. She is known for a short temper and a sharp tongue that will quickly turn against you if you so much as look at her in the wrong way. She is also known to make unwise decisions as far as money and her own life choices go -- something that many blame her lack of a husband on -- which can lead her to seem ditzy or dumb.

Often starting rumors just for the sake of starting them (then claiming that she instead heard them from someone else, of course, because one never accepts the consequences of one's own actions), she delights in the small-town chaos of gossip. After all, when you're done with a long day of constant work on clothing that you yourself will most likely never even get to wear, you have to unwind somehow.

She also, however, finds enjoyment in fixing the messes that her drama causes, often injecting herself as a sort of loving, caring, supportive party for the crying, brokenhearted victims of her rumors. She would never ruin anyone to their face, and she is quick to sympathize with other women's struggles (though only when they're in front of her). She is known to have a big heart toward children and cats, the latter of which populate her house and her yard in droves. At the end of the day, when she is found out, she always apologizes and feels bad for her actions and rumors...but she is rarely found out.

In the real world...well, Odie's explosive anger is turned up to the max, hence her extensive history of crime. She has an extreme distaste of others, something that bleeds through into the AI world in form of her drama-mongering. Her headstrong nature leads her to take the lead in every given situation. She is known for her adaptiveness and ability to quickly regulate and play her emotions for the best given result in the moment (something that occasionally trickles into her AI personality as well). She is harsh, uncaring, and generally unsympathetic to others beyond those in her immediate circle -- but those in her circle are people who she would (and tried to) kill for.

If you lie down with dogs, you'll get up with fleas. Someone should have told Laura Caulfield that. Unfortunately, here we are.

Odie was born the first of seven children to a chainsmoker-by-day-stripper-by-night. Her father was a gangster who would stop by on occasion just to bicker with her mom, inevitably wind up in bed with her again, and punch the kids around instead of doing anything productive. Stereotypical shit dad, but hey, at least her mom tried to provide. When she was around, she worked her hardest to treat her children rightly, trying her best to spoil them when she could.

Unfortunately, she wasn't around all the time, and when she was gone, things got bad.

Odie learned quickly how to take care of her younger siblings, each of which were born pretty much right after her. She became another sort of mother to them in her mother's absence.

Being alone in the sketchiest part of a huge city, though, meant that she had to play dirty to survive. Quickly, she learned that violence typically was the answer to things, and she...well, she carried a knife around on her for a reason.

She had to walk herself and her siblings to school each day, through the rough neighborhood. It was only by her violence, volatile nature that she was able to keep them alive.

Somehow, though, the police got involved. She still isn't exactly sure how. Maybe she knew at some point, but it was so long ago that she's forgotten by now (even before she was forced to forget everything). Either way, before she knew it, she and her siblings were sent off to foster care.

And shit got bad.

She was one of the worst-behaved children they had. Often, through her tweenhood, she would be driven back to the center she was at by a cop car, with threats for her to go to juvenile detention if she didn't get better. Of course, she never got sent -- they would just transfer her to another crowded, underfunded center for the same thing to happen.

Then, some prissy rich asshole decided to adopt her.

And take her away from her family.

She didn't want to go. She ran away, ran to another city with her siblings, but they found them before she could get far enough away for them to do anything.

She cried for weeks, nonstop. She went out searching for them often, running away from the home, and she was always brought back and "punished accordingly". Her rich family tried to tote her around to events as though she was a trophy of their philanthropy, but she always acted up at them, often violently.

They sent her back a month later, but she still didn't get to see her family.

From there, she became an adult at some point. She was determined to find her family, but she couldn't, she still couldn't. No matter how hard she tried -- no matter how many people she threatened or hurt (which got her sent to jail a few times, yes) -- no one could tell her.

Inside her, rage burned. Rage toward the man who'd pried her from her family just so he could look good.

Then, one day, she saw his name in the paper.

Right beside the word PRESIDENT.

And that was it. It was over then.

She was going to kill him.

It was years of plotting. She joined up with some other people, somehow wound up at the capital. Made money in odd ways, very few of them legal. And she waited, waited for just the right moment, with a gun in her handbag.

And when it was her chance, she lined up the shot on the back of the man's head.

Click, click...

And when she pulled the trigger, the bullet headed right for her target.

And missed, hitting the man next to him.

She tried to flee, but they found her.

And, well...

Six years ago in a lab, Ant Rainier created something called Digital Companionship Technology aka: DOT.

And that's how Dot was born -- or, rather, created. Think Jarvis. She existed as a personal assistant and companion, and as a huge step forward in artificial intelligence. And for a while, she was just that. An AI existing as a companion for Ant.

Until the simulation was made, and Ant decided to drag Dot along with him into the virtual world as his wife. Upon the simulation being made and her being uploaded, she was allowed to pick someone to model herself after -- and she chose none other than the gorgeous Marilyn Monroe, since the day that her technology was officially finalized was the same day of Marilyn Monroe's birthday.
