Nature: Knight
Path of Retribution: 6
Personality: While generally calm and softspoken, Gabriel tends to give off the air of a stern figure. However, whenever he comes across those committing evil deeds, his persona will shift to that of a fierce and hardened warrior. It could be anything from reprimanding (or terrifying, depending on how you look at it) kids caught vandalizing a storefront to standing face to face with an actual demon. Gabriel does so without any sign of fear or uncertainty.

Unlike many Kindred, and especially unlike those that spend their unlives as warriors, he genuinely cares for humans and often goes out of his way to help or protect them. While he may not be found playing with children like Leona, he prefers to watch over them as a sort of guardian.

History: Born in the days of knights, Gabriel spent most of his mortal life training to join the ranks of the noble warriors. What drew him to join the order known as Via Caeli all those centuries ago has long since faded from memory. Members of this holy order viewed their Vampiric nature as part of God's great plan and that those Embraced were tasked to carry out duties normally beyond the abilities of mortal man. This Salubri order is split into two paths: the Path of the Healer, and the Path of the Warrior. Gabriel chose to follow the Warrior's Path, acting as an agent of the Lord's fury and destroying evil wherever it may lurk.

While battles with demonic forces have thinned this bloodline's number considerably, there are still whispered tales of three-eyed warriors slaying foes with blades cloaked in holy fire. With the City of Kings having fallen to its recent state, Gabriel and his wife of many centuries Leona set out to find and destroy the source of these troubles.

Auspex: 2
Fortitude: 6
Valeren: 7
True Faith: 1

Disciplines:

Auspex

  • Heightened Senses: This power sharpens all of the vampire's senses, effectively doubling the clarity and range of sight, hearing, and smell. While her senses of taste and touch extend no farther than normal, they likewise become far more acute.
  • An Ear for lies: This power allows the user to know when someone is lying to him. To the Cainite, lies stand out, harsh and discordant from all other speech.
  • Aura Perception: Using this power, the vampire can perceive the psychic "auras" that radiate from mortals and supernatural beings alike. These halos comprise a shifting series of colors that take practice to discern with clarity.
Fortitude

  • Stand Against All Foes: With this power, a vampire may plant her feet solidly on the ground and ensure that she cannot be moved by anything weaker than herself. Even being hit by the charge of a fully armored knight or being pounced upon by an enraged Lupine will not move or knock down the user.
Valeren

  • Sense Vitality: The Salubri can feel the flow of a subject's life force after touching him. Sense Vitality may be used to determine how much damage a person can withstand before death, which can be useful in sizing up a potential opponent. It can also aid in medical diagnosis or feeding, as it can reveal infections and diseases.
  • Anesthetic Touch: This power may be used to block a voluntary subject's pain from wounds or disease, or to put a mortal to sleep. As with Sense Vitality, physical contact is required to anesthetize someone. This power may not be used to block the Salubri's own pain.
  • Burning Touch: The vampire touches his subject, shocking her with a searing pain. This power causes no actual damage to the subject, though prolonged exposure to this unnatural pain sometimes leaves victims traumatized.
  • Armor of Caine's Fury: Warrior Salubri, in their crusades against Infernalists, frequently invoked this power; it surrounds them with a shining halo reminiscent of crimson mail. The phantom armor created by this ability protects the crusader against most sources of physical injury; it also keeps him or her from entering Rötschreck due to an ongoing battle, when such frenzy of fear would lead them into greater danger.
  • Ending the Watch: The Salubri using this power grants a quiet, painless death to a willing subject.
  • Fiery Agony: With this ability, the Salubri may inflict continuing pain on a target, much as with Burning Touch. However, the Warrior need not maintain contact with the target; he needs only brush up against the target once, and then he may apply agonizing pain for as long as the target remains in sight. With Fiery Agony, the Salubri has more control over the level of pain than he does with Burning Touch; for instance, he may create a minor irritant, or just enough pain to test the target's tolerances. This ability can drive Cainites and other supernatural beings into frenzy, and can actually kill mortals.
  • Embrace the Searing Flames: At this level of mastery, the Salubri is no longer harmed by fire. Her skin may take on a slightly iridescent sheen as it becomes immune to this bane of vampiric existence. Rötschreck check are not required in the presence of flames. Note that the character is still vulnerable to sunlight.
  • Sword of the Righteous: Not by the rightness of spirit and rigorous training alone were the warriors of the Salubri able to put the Infernalists to flight. The most talented were also able to call upon this power, which made their swords blaze with cleansing fire of righteousness.
Combo Disciplines

  • Eye of Unforgiving Heaven - Auspex/Valeren: Upon invoking this power, a Salubri's third eye opens impossibly wide and burns incandescent gold. The orb becomes a reflection of the sun itself, illuminating the area and searing the flesh of the undead. As the power's light emits as radiance rather a beam, it knows neither friend nor foe. Even the Salubri is not wholly immune to his light, any wounds the Salubri suffers manifest as a torrent of bloody tears weeping from the third eye.
Abilities

  • Expert swordsman
  • Capable of speaking Latin, Hebrew, and Enochian
  • Blessing of the Name: There's a reason warriors name themselves after angels. The Salubri calls on this power by invoking the angel whose name they share and specifying what they wish to use it for. Their third eye opens, shedding a harsh golden light that bathes the warrior and all they look upon. Mud and grime vanish, armor gleams as though newly forged, and the warrior seems to have the look of an avenging member of the Lord's Hosts. Asked later about the event, most witnesses will remember seeing something marvelous, but no two will agree on what they saw.
    • Once active, the user is considered to have Presence level 5 and can ignore the pain of any wounds until the power ends. When the power fades, any mud, rust, injuries, etc. covered by the power appear more pronounced. The Salubri's vampirism also appears more prominently for the next few minutes. If their injuries weren't bad enough to incapacitate or leave them in torpor, the warrior will also be bordering frenzy from lack of blood.
