August has long, shaggy hair that comes down past his neck. He rarely styles it, but sometimes he'll put it in a bun or tied back at the least. His naturally curly hair is complemented by the ombre blend of colors, with a bronze brown at his roots blending into a medium golden brown at his tips.

Like every other vampire undergoing a "vegetarian" diet, August's eyes are a topaz, golden-orange and darken the thirstier he is. However, since he hails from High Blood, he can naturally access his true form. When he's in his true form, his irises go red, and his sclera turns black. In addition, his skin becomes paler, and his veins become more visible, turning black.

Augustus has always had a well-built, fit stature. Though muscular and cut, he is slim with not bulky. He has a strong jawline and high cheekbones, full lips, and his nose is straight.

August has multiple runes, and ancient symbols etched into his skin, thanks to his mother. To an unknowing human, they'd appear as simple tattoos, but in reality, they provide protection against a multitude of spells and hexes. All of the runic markings are on his upper body. He also has a design of a spider on his sternum and a snake on his left forearm. Both can be hidden to the naked eye with magic, but with the proper spell, that only August knows, he can bring the imprint to life.

August is, at heart, a progressive and open-minded person. He enjoys learning about the human world and its many different cultures and watching them grow and evolve with time. As an immortal being, not only is watching other cultures grow something that August is fond of, but he has a strong connection to the Classical Era and its music, fine arts, and literature. He's also somewhat of a car enthusiast, having a collection of over thirteen cars, with two dating back to the 1920s. And while he wishes that the war could be over, solitude & isolation from the fighting have given him a sense of clarity and peace.
dislikes
Obviously, anything that has to do with war and bloodshed is not high up on August's favorites list. He has a strong distaste for war—now, at least. When he was younger, he lived for the battle and to end the war, but things have since changed. He despises drinking from humans because he has such high regard for mortal life. Though it has no weakening effect on him, the smell of garlic disgusts Augustus to the point where he'll even hold his nose or breath. And above everything else, August hates the Vishanti Council, especially Kaecilius.

Since he's over the age of 500 years, August has tried all hobbies. However, the ones that he resumes to follow through on are car collecting, playing music, reading, antique collecting and selling, and investing.

He has a tendency to scrunch his nose and wiggle his mouth when he reads. And when he's contemplating something, he usually pokes his cheek with his tongue.

Though he may try and maintain an appearance of fortitude, August worries and fears a lot. At the top of the list is losing the battle against the Vishanti and putting the ax to all innocent vampires, humans, and other supernaturals who were dragged into this war or have become victims of its brutality. He also fears losing his temper and letting go of his control on his true form, as that could cause the deaths of tens of thousands.

There's not much fun about August. If anything is the most interesting, it would be his natural affinity for magic. Though not as strong as his mother's connection, he still uses the power to help him when essential. Nowadays, he's merely a simple investor just enjoying the simple, mortal lavishes of life.
personality
Augustus Chappelle is an immortal being with the sort of moral compass that would perfectly embody a hero. He protects the innocent, despises the unjust, and would offer even his own life for the greater good. However, he isn't afraid to take a life—as it would be odd if a Vampire couldn't kill. But in this regard, Augustus will kill those who harm the innocent or those who assist the authoritarian powers of the Underworld. Human life, however, is sacred and should not be injured—fatally.

August is, for more words or less, pragmatic. He's straightforward in what he wants and in what he says. He understands humor and has no boundary when it comes to gaiety, but you will rarely find him cracking a joke. He simply doesn't want to show off his human side to the outside world, as that side of him was taken advantage of, and he doesn't want to repeat history.

History is also something that August is constantly trying to learn and adapt from. From past battles, experiences, behaviors, everything that was in the past is now a learning experience for August.

He also comes from a time of paying chivalry to kings and queens and nobles—though he was a noble himself—so it's instilled in him to still act as such. He's a sensible guy with a knack for the arts and any creative piece/performance. He's got a natural ability to charm anyone and is sweet with his words through and through. All in all, he's a lover and a fighter.

Isabel Chappelle was the first person August ever loved and his closest confidant. She was his foundation and support, his closest ally, his second-best friend and absolute guardian . . . she was his mother. The night August found Isabel murdered, it felt like the world had literally stopped turning. Nothing made sense anymore, and there was only anger that coursed through August's veins. Life was lonely & cold, and August abandoned everything he stood for because of it. That would revert once he learned the truth and suffered the loss of his sister, too.

The relationship between father and son is anything but normal, nowadays. To say the least, it is heavily strained. Ever since his mother's murder, August has not once spoken to his father, both before and after Matteo was blamed for the crime. The night August fled from the Vishanti, he did leave a goodbye letter for his father—apologizing for his distant and neglectful behavior, but also wishing that they never cross paths again because they'd both know that one would have to kill the other. Ever since then, the tension between the two immortal boys has been as tight as day one. And the day when they may have to come across that battle is mentally dreadful to both boys.

Eva, August's fraternal sister & best friend, was the last person to be a source of happiness and provide a sense of joy in the world for August. In their childhood, August and Eva were inseparable and constantly in competition with one another. But ever since her death, August has had little to rely on to keep him gratified during immortality. With the deaths of his mother and beloved twin sister, August had become shrouded in gloom and unhappiness.

Kaecilus and August are rivals, well, more like enemies, actually. August has much hate and disgust for the "Head" of the Underworld due to Kaecilius's sinister nature and having August's mother killed. Though August despises Kaecilius, the feeling isn't all that mutual. Kaecilius adores August for a multitude of reasons. His heritage, abilities, the fact that he was the first Ekon, and quite plainly, Kaecilius enjoys bickering with the heroic vampire. So despite the animosity on August's end, Kaecilius adores the Chappelle boy.

the first part of life

Born on a grueling day at the beginning of July during the year 1510, August was welcomed into the Supernatural world from the start. His father, Matteo Vasari, was—at the time—the world's deadliest vampire, especially for being a Vishanti vampire. August's mother, Isabel de la Croix, was the heir to the de la Croix witch power. Since August was born, he was to be the next heir; he and his fraternal twin sister, Eva. They both were catalysts for their mother's connection to magic and their father's dark ties as a vampire. Since the de la Croix family power was primarily matriarchal, Eva inherited and held more raw power than her brother. The family, under the fake surname Chappelle, kept themselves bunkered in Italy. Matteo, a native to the Eastern European lifestyle, was close with the two Houses that had ruled Italy. First, the Luxembourgs and then the Habsburgs, and as such, his family was an extension of that familiarity and warm welcomes. As a young noble living in the 1500s, August was all but still. If he wasn't roaming the wild, untouched lands of Italy with his sister, then he was with one of his parents. And if he was in neither place, then he ought found himself in trouble with other noble families, commoners, or even the King for that matter. The monarchy was, nevertheless, still fond of the young hybrid boy.

Around the age of sixteen, August began having health complications. As it seemed, his lungs were starting to falter, and his body appeared to be shutting down. Still, his youthfulness kept him from feeling frightened by the dire situation, and he refused to tell anyone in his family. After all, he shouldn't fear anything. His dad was a vampire, and his mom was a descendant of one of the three enhanced witches. So his rowdy pubescent phase of life continued nonetheless.

And as his sister excelled with her magic, August was left behind to wonder if he was worthy of holding the de la Croix power. August would find himself dwelling in human affairs as a means to ignore his responsibility of continuing to learn the power he inherited. It wouldn't be long till August would have to change that attitude around, though. When August turned eighteen, his body finally decided to give out. Consequently, his parents were in a fluster to find a solution to the life-or-death problem and with great haste. Matteo went to the Council, seeking approval to turn the boy into a Vishanti. The Council approved of Matteo's request, but at the cost of his service to the Council. Having Matteo, the first vampire transformed by the bite of Master Vampire Octavius, was an incredible asset; especially since Matteo was a highly skilled and deadly Vishanti.

Soon after returning from the Council's dwelling, Matteo bit the dying August and infused his venom with his son's blood. It was a last-ditch effort on Matteo's part, and a noble one at that, but Matteo refused to end his son's life as a means of avoiding the pain that August would have to endure during the transformation process. There was also no way of knowing if August would even live through the bite. So, by killing his son preemptively, Matteo would end his son's life before they could try everything in their power—or at least Isabel's power. Isabel was a Witch that defied all laws of nature, as did the other descendants of the Big Three. And so, it was within her power to save her son.

As his father's venom slowly worked its way throughout August's dying body, Isabel realized that it wouldn't work in time. August's defeated body could not swiftly disperse the venom. With that in mind, Isbal could only think of one way to save her son: to breed a new species of vampire. As Julius Caesar Octavius once did, Isabel would call on the powers from Hell. She summoned a demon, Xikras, and immediately fractured the Lord from Hell—his soul to be exact. Then, Isabel fractured her own. With two splintered souls, she joined them together and instilled them in her son. By doing so, she gave him the spark he needed to continue living, but that also altered his father's venom. August was not a Vishanti vampire but, instead, was the first Ekon.

Saved by his mother, Augustus returned back to his teenage shenanigans. This time, however, vampirism blessed him with supernatural abilities that went beyond his magic capabilities. The cost of life returning to normal—better than normal even—dealt with August's morals. Of course, to now stay alive, August needed to consume blood. His father, though a good man at heart, drank from humans. He informed August that drinking from humans kept their kind at their peak and fully satiated, whereas drinking from animals was merely a way to counter the "human question". It left a vampire not filled and with a minor power disadvantage, but August could never take a life; hell, he was only eighteen. So he decided to keep his thirst quenched with big game blood; his favorite was Stag.

Eva continued her mystic training with Isabel, and August spent a little more time with Matteo. Having Matteo around to help August understand this new nature was vital to keeping a peaceful life in their humble abode in the South West of Italy. Peaceful times would cease to exist within a year, though. The Council learned through multiple sources and loyalists that August was anything but a "normal" vampire, and he was most certainly not a Skaal. He posed a threat to the Council, and even greater than him was his mother. Isabel and August continued to do many things together, like roaming around the countryside, strolling through town, entertaining other noble families using their supernatural powers, playing games, so and so forth. Their relationship remained just as strong as it was before August's life or death scare. After all, August was always like his mother, so they bonded much closer than August and his father. Since childhood, people always told August that he looked like his father and had his mother's heart, and Eva was the opposite.

But again, the peaceful times would abruptly end when the Chappelle manor would come under attack. After the Council had summoned Matteo, an armada of vampires—composed of Vishanti and Skaal vampires—attacked the Chappelle estate. August and Eva were enjoying their youth in Naples, leaving Isabel home alone to fend for the homestead and her life. His emotional and spiritual ties to his mother warned him that she was in danger. He waited not a second longer before speeding off back home. In just under an hour, August was back home, but it was too late by then. Isabel's corpse had been hanged on a cross, crucified, in front of the Chappelle home. The sight of seeing his mother immediately broke August, and he collapsed in sadness right there. Had he been a mortal with a heartbeat, there would have been tears, but he was an immortal, undead being.

Angry and seeking revenge for his mother's murder, the Vishanti Council came before August with a proposition—behind Matteo's back—August would join the Council's ranks, and they would find Isabel's killer. Of course, it was the Council who had put out the kill order, Kaecilius—the Head of the Council—in particular. Matteo was now one of three heads of the highest order within the Council, so August figured they were working closely together too. Eva was offered hospitality by the Council, which was another bait trick by the Council to lure August in. And Eva was too distraught by the situation to deny the Council's offer, so August accepted with no hesitation.

Years would pass before the Council finally came out and blamed Isabel's murder on Matteo. Kaecilius, who was very fond of August, wanted to make him a "son" of his own. So he needed to drive a wedge between Matteo and August. August, convinced by Kaecilius and the Council's findings, immediately abandoned any familial tie to his father. To him, Matteo was the bane of his existence. And now that August despised his father, Kaecilius sought the opportunity to claim August as his son.

For centuries, August carried out Kaecilius' personal orders and demands, whether it be to slaughter a village of people or hunt rogue supernatural entities; August was an unstoppable murder machine. He even gave in to drinking from Humans, and he drank for the fun of it. August was no longer a man of integrity and instead gave in to his primal side out of anger. Eva eventually left the Council, something she had been trying to do for a long time too. As the new de la Croix heiress, Eva gathered enough power to ward off any threat and escape from the Vishanti and, now, Ekons.

Juniper is an ambivert. She has the capacity to engage in social settings but prefers having only a small group of friends and family around her most times. Engagement with one or two people a day is comfortable while engaging with five or six people a day is exhausting. She gets irritated quickly and has a short fuse; an attribute she equates to her father. She's groans and pushes people away when she's upset but if backed into a corner Juniper will scream. She'd rather deal with her problems alone and isn't afraid of burning every bridge to make it happen. When she's upset and can't be alone, she will say just about anything to make the person go away even if something truly vile. It's undoubtly a flaw of hers; quick to jump ship at the first sign of a storm. To be concise, Juniper is guarded. When she's not in a foul mood she is calm and quiet. She is understanding and eager to listen to anyone willing to talk to her, thankful for the companionship but only so long as she's not having to do it with too many people.

Backstory
Juniper grew up in a mostly loving family. Well, it's the thought that counts. Her family tried to be loving but it seemed that the harder they tried to love correctly the more their family cracked. Her father, George, was adamant that Juniper never meet their extended family. He grew up in a magical family himself but he lacked any magical abilities. The disdain his mother glared at him with could cut diamonds. He grew up with a strong dislike for his mother and most of his relatives as they claimed to be akin with their supernatural abilities. George however never experienced anything supernatural and didn't believe in the supernatural either. He had a rough childhood feeling embarrassed by his mother's incessant ramblings with spells and storybooks he could never appreciate. He didn't want to see his daughter to have to go through the same upbringing with the fake hocus pocus his mother forced on him.

Juniper's mother, Eva, took her to see her relatives despite George's demands. Juniper spend days hanging with her grandparents and playing with her cousins but whenever she came home an argument would erupt between her parents. It was always a battle of what was right for Juniper; raising her around her heritage or shielding her from it. When it came down to it they could never agree on which was the better path. George disliked not only his side of the family but also Eva's side of the family for partaking in the same ritualist beliefs as his own family had. He believed they were a bad influence on Juniper; filling her head with stories of witchcraft and forcing her to be an outcast amongst her peers. . Eva on the other hand had also grown up in a magical household but carried the abilities of clairvoyance. She pushed Juniper to practice her abilities and find her niche. They both deeply loved Juniper but in different ways.

Juniper didn't truly understand what power she inherited until her early middle school years. Her mother being "the crazy lady" in town never quite made Juniper as much of an outcast as when she hit puberty. Not only did she grow boobs and wider hips but her powers went into overdrive. She began hearing whispers when she was all alone, feeling soft prickles along her skin coupled with a chill, and seeing people that weren't always there. Her mother tried to reassure her it was just the other side calling to her and it would calm down in a few years. It happened to every young witch but it never stopped with Juniper. The voices kept whispering, tugging at the recesses of her forethoughts. She developed anxiety, unsure if what she was hearing, seeing, and feeling every day was reality or what George called hocus pocus. Many more fights had broken out between Eva and George. A year had passed before George took Juniper to counseling without letting Eva know. It was then Juniper was prescribed lithium for her diagnosed schizophrenia. In the blink of an eye Juniper went from the "crazy lady's daughter" to "crazy lady number two". Her mother begged Juniper not to take the medication - it would only stunt her magical growth. But George was far scarier than Eva, he easily pressured Juniper into believing she was mentally broken and needed the medicine. In due time she convinced herself that the pills were the keys to her father's love. As long as she took them then her father would love her and not taking them meant he'd stop.

Her junior year of high school was when their family got a new addition, Daniel. It seemed to patch the marriage between Eva and George but only for awhile. The arguments about how Daniel was going to be raised began and just like with Juniper, they never could come to an agreement. George blamed Eva for Juniper's poor mental state and vowed he'd never let Eva do the same thing to Daniel and then came a hasty divorce. Juniper had just gotten used to constant company of wayward souls when her father kicked her mother out of the house. It was a traumatic day for everyone involved; except for Daniel as he was still only a baby. Eva moved away and left Juniper and Daniel to live with their father, believing that maybe he was right.

Now several years later Juniper still lives with her father. She finished high school but never applied for college, her father insisting it wasn't a good idea for her to be out of reach with her poor mental state. She picked up a job at the local library, checking out books and re-shelving them. Most days she worked alone and that was exactly how she liked it. Other days the library was packed with college kids, lawyers or old people still trying to efficiently operate Google. Juniper developed a lot of different quirks to differentiate her real life from her divination such as listening to music to drown out the whispers, sunglasses so no one knows she's staring Hilda's dead cat that's not actually there, and sticking to easy foods that won't turn into maggots or someone's face in front of her.

Juniper has a hidden life that her father doesn't know about; she still secretly visits her mother and extended family. When she was a minor it was obvious when she'd see her mother because of the joint custody agreements. However, after she graduated high school and became a legal adult George made her promise she'd never go see Eva again. Juniper broke her promise every Friday night, visiting her mother for dinner. She'd listen to her talk about how her neighbor was going to win the lottery because she saw it in a dream. Juniper wasn't sure what she believed about her heritage but she loved listening to her mother retell decade old stories. They were somehow always the same stories her grandparents told whenever she'd visit and it brought a sense of normalcy and comfort.
