Name: Lily Ames

Age: 25

Gender: Female

Appearance: Lily is fairly short, standing at five foot four, and has a lean build. Her long brown hair is 'usually' brushed but she tends to just sweep it over her shoulders and smooth it down with her usual nervous tick. Her wide, blue eyes have lost their glow in the last couple of years; but a few things do succeed in reviving the vivacious scientist in her. Still, for the most part, she has a peculiar gaze -- the type that makes you think that she's lost in time. Her brain works a mile a minute, and staring off is her way of cataloging all the thoughts happening at once. She usually wears casual clothes, only ever dressing up a bit for work.

Personality: Presently, Lily is a bit of a mess. She's anxious and neurotic, but tries to keep it at bay by fidgeting or making conversation. All things considered she's a bit unstable, but focusing on interests or hobbies keeps her from overthinking and spiraling again. At her core she's an intelligent young woman and has a hunger for knowledge. When she's locked onto something its hard to get her to budge. This determination has been her downfall more than once, burning out Lily or causing her to fall into the shambles of her brain. She suffers from night terrors and has self-indulgent insomnia. It's rare that she's had a really good night of sleep. To keep from anyone underestimating her, her worst fear, she remains aloof and distant. She goes out on a limb for people, and is charitable at her heart. Lily's a nice girl, she's just... complicated.

History: Lily grew up in a fairly devout Christian household,. They attended church, went to mass and Lily went to Sunday school. As a young girl she was bright and artistic, always drawing and painting. Her brother was born autistic and Lily always had a special connection to him. Where her parents would flail trying to get the boy to behave or act accordingly, Lily would be at his side in seconds. She always had a knack for calming him down too.

She was his only friend for a while and kids made fun of him at school, but Lily always kicked the shins of the offenders or threatened them. A bit aggressive a child, she dampened out when going into middle school. She used art to get her anger out and replace it with a stubborn form of creativity. She was a painter, but always had a knack for mathematics. Science was her second favourite class, but she paid it no mind in favour of her art classes and devotion to the school band.

Things were simple until one atypical night where something unusual happened. Mom and Dad claim they don’t remember, and that they were asleep, but David and Lily remembered everything. The experience crippled them, sending Lily into hysterics and night terrors. David became mute after that and stopped leaving the house as much. Lily’s psyche crumbled and she found herself clinging to the idea that what happened was real.

It was real.

Her interests shifted toward the sciences, and her paints all dried up. She threw herself into numbers, calculations and lab tests; maybe because she didn’t have to focus on the events that traumatized her all those years ago. She did well in the field and excelled, heading straight into university. She was determined to find some answers and to perhaps explore what the reaches of space held.

A mental break halted those plans and instead of pursuing a doctorate in her field she settled for a masters and returned home. A quick trip to the mental ward for a few months, and after that rehab for about a year, and then she was finally home. She keeps her eyes open but her workload is significantly less intense. She’s suffering in the monotonous life she has carved for herself, but is afraid of getting obsessed again. Group meetings have been a way to try and cope with the trauma, as per her therapist's suggestion.

Name: Jessica Cheng

Age: 29

Gender: Female

Personality: Nervous and shy, Jess speak softly. Whenever someone speaks loudly or yells, she often flinches away from them and averts her gaze.

History: Jess remembers vague bits and pieces of her abduction when she was in middle school, but the worst of it for her - the bullying and teasing. She was the weird one the aliens decided to leave behind or the one hosting a nest of chest-bursters. Her mother pressured Jenn into suppressing her Anxiety, Depression, and PSTD symptoms to not shame their family for having a child with mental health issues. She still is struggling to finish her first degree, but a professor had taken notice of Jess's more withdrawn nature and suggested that Jess looked into the university's counseling center. Working one on one with a therapist for a couple of years, Jess has improved in her social interactions and in her ability to focus on the present. Due to her experiences and the need for continued improvement, her therapist referred her to the alien abductee support group. Her therapist also suggested that Jess take up a boxing or some other martial art to build up some confidence.

Name: Mariana Alise

Age: 23

Gender:
Woman

Appearance: She's 5'10'' but slouches, purposefully wears comfortable yet bright clothes whenever possible, and never looks like she knows what to do with her expression.

Personality: She constantly seems to be second-guessing herself; a single conversation can have her agreeing against her beliefs, apologizing over nothing, and refusing to budge on what appear to be the most useless points. One thing that never changes is her dedication to particularities. She has no issue in cranking the thermostat up when she's a guest in someone else's home, or insisting on having whatever chair at the table will allow her to see the full room. She's well aware that she often makes a bad first impression from that, and tries her best to make up for it however possible.

History: She had no memory of being abducted until at age nineteen, she slipped down a flight of icy stairs and was taken to the hospital before she woke up. Since childhood she had avoided doctors offices, but she didn't fully understand why until she was flat on her back in a dangerously clinical setting, with sharp white light in her eyes and antiseptic invading her nose. She didn't remember what had happened to her as a child until that moment, but her body had.

She spent the next two years in a haze of routine and debilitating memory, the details becoming clearer each time and expanding to include more specifics. She keeps a journal to this day of the time surrounding her panic attacks, to better understand how to avoid more attacks in the future. The aliens had kept her in what had felt like a meat freezer, so she invested in a yellow winter coat that she wears year-round. The aliens had done pressed something sharp to hyperspecific points on her stomach and legs, so she stuck band-aids to each place. They'd always kept their equipment and faces just outside of her limited line of sight, so she made sure she could see everything she needed to, now.

Her parents had strongly opposed therapy all through her childhood out of the staunchly held belief that nothing could be wrong with her, so she hasn't tried stepping into a therapy session before now. After her last panic attack nearly got her into a car accident and thus almost risked another horrific hospital stay, though, she decided to try group therapy. If guiltily and hesitantly.

Name: Valentine Moreau

Age: 24

Gender: Male

Appearance:
T17gyyXXxiXXbTvUg3_051422.jpg

Personality: Valentine is usually rather quiet, and keeps to himself. He has a hard time opening up to others and often struggles with being social. He will often not make eye contact and seem nervous. He can have obsessions with various things. He is knowledgeable in things one wouldn't expect.

History: Valentine was never formally abducted, however, his encounter was immensely terrifying. It all started with an innocent trip with his maternal grandparents into the woods to forage wild edibles. They had been picking blackberries and the sun began to set so they began to head home. As they approached the car, they saw what looked like eyes above and behind it. What they saw next would scar him for life. The thing that came around the car was 12 feet tall and hovered with little sound. It was a mechanical being with nothing but bad intentions. It immediately began to stare them down. After a few seconds that felt like hours, the being quickly came towards them with a loud hiss sounding like a steam valve. Somehow they got to their car, and back home, but the thing he saw will haunt him until the day he dies.
