RONG XIAOLI : A quiet relationship, these two met in freshman year, both being foreigners Hiro felt awkward but happy to meet another foreigner. There relationship is usually just silent nods and few words, making it seem like the two aren't close and maybe even dislike each other, but the truth is, they're close. They don't need long talks to know each other and understand everything. Usually there time is spent in Xiaoli's room, with Hiro playing his games and Xiaoli playing his piano.

YEOMI HO-MIN : Roommates and best friends, there was are known to be similar but also complete opposites. While Hiro is sleeping Yeomi is known to prank him and it usually ends up in Hiro dumping ice cold water on him while he's asleep. Though Hiro is afraid of many things, he tends to be Yeomi's "protector" and often tries to protect the shorter male from things.

BOO JAE PO : A love-hate relationship filled with love is a way you can describe these two. They're constantly teasing each other but under the banter they really care for each other. Both of them lived with divorced mothers and grew closer due to the sentiment of the situation. Whenever drama comes up from this side, the two are always there to comfort each other. (You can probably find them in Hiro's bedroom arguing over video games).

ANDY CHOI : These two have a somewhat special bond. The two are complete polar opposites but that's what they love about each other. Casual skinship and affection is pretty common and you can probably find him curled up next to Andy if he had a nightmare that night. He finds comfort in the younger male and feels protected when with him. The two met while Hiro was working at the cafe one day and recognized him from the apartments and introduced himself, after that the two just clicked.

• was born in beijing, china.
• his family of 5 (including himself) moved to korea when he was 5 because of his father's promotion. the electronics company his father worked for was branching out to other locations. since his father worked for the company for so many years, he would lead the company in korea.
  
• with their new found (high) status, his parents became obsessed with their image. xiaoli and his two older brothers was raised with strict instructions not to stray from their image. they were supposed to good, respectable boys with elegance and manners. even with as young as xiaoli was he was no exception to these rules and instruction. as not to be influenced by other children and their behaviors, xiaoli was home-schooled up until middle school.
• xiaoli never knew he was holding his breath until his parents focus on him lessened after he began attending middle school.
• xiaoli felt very tired keeping up with the fake smiles and fake people.
• when he entered high school, his older brother convinced their parents to allow him to live on his own. their was a little underline blackmail on xiaoli's part to get his brother to do that for him.

001. classical music since classical was what was alway playing in his home, xiaoli had come to love it. he doesn't have any favorite composers but does favor beethoven's old work a lot. he prefers beautifully dark pieces. if he's reading, however, he'll listen to slow soft pieces.
002. reading one of xiaoli's favorite pastimes is reading. most times when he's supposed to be studying he'll be reading a book instead. his favorite genres are suspense, dystopian, and tragic romance (his guilty pleasure tbh).
003. playing the piano even though his parents forced him to play, xiaoli enjoys the instrument. it's a stress reliever. anything he wants to get out he does so by playing the piano.

004. a smile, that doesn't quite reach his eyes and obviously looks fake, is what xiaoli has a habit of giving when he's annoyed by what a person has just said. followed by it is a passive aggressive, but still snappy, retort. normally he does this with strangers, or people that isn't his siblings or friends.
005. if he has a book in hand and he falls asleep he doesn't (for some reason) let the book go. it's been a habit of his since middle school.
006. hates mushy type of foods (like bananas).
007. not very fond of animals since he hasn't been around them to even get used to them. will literally just stare at one instead of petting it.​

001. since moving out, his parents check on him physically once a month. otherwise, they call or text him.
002. close relationship with his (eldest) oldest brother (who is his parent's favorite). doesn't really bother with his other (second) older brother since he's a vain asshole with the "nice guy" front.

XIAOLI'S CONNECTIONS

how did all of you even get in my apartment?

as someone who has never had any real friends (mostly due to his status and schooling) xiaoli's quite thankful to this bunch (even if they don't know it). each has been a friend of his since moving out of his home and entering high school. each relationship with these friends vary.
HIROMORO HIRAI, 18. hiro and xiaoli became friends through another mutual friend that also lived in the same apartment building (during freshman year). it was pretty awkward for the both of them at first but gradually, after spending more time together, their relationship approved. to an outsider, these two might not seem like they are on good terms, because of the lack of conversation and interaction, but they're probably the closest out of the bunch. quiet would best describe hiro's and xiaoli's friendship. since both are relatively silent and aren't the types to show they care loudly, or give an abundance amount of affection (it's small and subtle), they work together pretty well. their conversation normally doesn't consist of much talk (unless there's something deep to talk about). which is why half of their time spent is in comfortable silences, each doing their own thing (xiaoli playing the piano and hiro playing his game).

YEOMI HOMIN,18. just like hiro, homin and xiaoli weren't the closest out of the bunch at first. with homin being pretty much intimidated of xiaoli, he just sort of avoided being with or near xiaoli; and xiaoli let him. but slowly, xiaoli found himself becoming some sort of guardian of homin (right with hiro). silently he's always looking, because "gosh, how can one be this clumsy?". he even carries bandaids for the friend. sure he annoys xiaoli most of the time, but never go as far as to prank him (as some of that intimidation is still there).

001 born to a coddling mother and strict father. even the smallest scrape would set his mother into a panic. two conflicting statements would always be spoken to him; one asking if he was okay, and the other telling him to stop being a baby.
002 molded by his mother and father, he became a "prune" during school hours. he saw school as a place to learn not to goof around, but there's always been a hidden rebellious streak in him.
003 middle school had ended, and high school responsibilities were thrust upon him. he never fully adjusted to the "new" found responsibilities. he made the choice to move out, and live on his own-- of course, his parents paid for the apartment, but it felt like his own.

  since he was little he was raised in the countryside by his grandma as both of his parents were too busy with business trips to take care of him.
  
  when he first arrived at his grandma's when he was 4 he was quiet and shy due to the new environment. not much of a talker, he would usually hide behind his grandma and would learn to sew and knit at home. instead of playing with other kids his age he'd sit patiently at the snack vendor she ran after school.
  
  it was only when he started school he became more energetic and would run around amuck. he was then taken to taekwondo class to learn some discipline. he's continued training since he was 8 and has achieved a third-degree black belt.
  
  during his last two years in elementary and all of middle school, he competed in taekwondo competitions. he was pretty good and won quite a bit of medals and trophies. he could have participated in national junior competition but had his participation suspended due to a fight during his last year of middle school. after that, he has stopped competing altogether but still diligently practices at a nearby dojang. without the competitions he's found more free time than ever. not knowing what to do with most of it he studies to make his parents and grandma less worried about him.

-After a long and arduous birth, Andy was born to an American mother and a Korean father. Both were established college professors and had met on the job when his mother found a permanent contract in Seoul. His parents didn’t want anymore children after him, so he remained an only child and the main focus of his parents.

-In middle school he excelled in his academics due to heavy involvement from his parents. The two meant well, but were incredibly strict about Andy and his studies. It got so bad that he never had time to have fun and missed out on a lot of social activities. This lead Andy to depression and a strong urge to escape to anywhere but his wooden desk and school books. However, he didn't want to disappoint his parents so he suffered silently.

-When he basically had a break down one day in the middle of an exam, his school's counselor suggested he join a sport to give him a break from studying and to help alleviate stress. His parents agreed and thus he joined the swim team his last year of middle school. It was perfect for him. As cliche as it sounded, whenever he dove in to the water it was as if all of his worries washed away. And since he was pretty good at it, it gave him a new sense of purpose and confidence along with some friends.

-Once he began high school, Andy blossomed. He figured out how to balance his social and school life, allowing him to date and make even more friends without a heavy hit to his grades. Feeling like he was finally figuring out his life, he wanted to break away from his parents and try living on his own. He moved in to the apartments with the intention of finally being able to do whatever the hell he wanted.​
