Despite conquering nearly 90% of the world, Robotnik's machines still displayed their one weakness; predictability. Each badnik was programmed with a simple attack pattern, this weakness would be patched by the sheer number of badniks and how quickly the doctor can produce more. Thankfully it seems only a small portion of the invaders had discovered Wood Zone. The Freedom fighters were dismantling the badniks with great efficiency. Animals inside would quickly scamper away into the woods for cover once freed from their prisons.
From above the trees, Robotnik's airship could be spotted dropping new troops on the now ruined shores of Emerald Hill.
Buzzers began to spread out to the different nearby zones.

The ground beneath everyone began to rumble as if there was a minor earthquake.
Nicole started to beep and displayed a map of the area with at least four red dots traveling dangerously close to Knothole.
Burrowbots, if any of them managed to get into Knothole its location would be leaked to Robotnik for sure.
That wasn't the only trouble.
A Larger Ax-wielding Hey Ho began to chop down chuncks of the trees piece by piece sending them flying at everyone.

-------------------------------------------------
Dr. Robotnik sat patiently in his chair for any word of interesting news from West Island.
The screen in front of the doctor displayed graphs detailing the total landmass taken over and the current state of his troops. Oddly the number of badniks on land began to drop bit by bit at a rate that could be a coincidence.
"Looks like there is fun to be had after all Ho Ho Ho! Looks like it's time to take a look down myself for old times' sake. Orbot! Prepare my Eggomatic for transportation I expect it to arrive soon!"
"Yes sir as you wish but wouldn't it be easier to just take it with you when you u-"
Without a second thought, the doctor picked up his newly acquired gem as the room around began to warp.

Sally's eyes narrowed. "First thing is take out those Burrowbots. Even if those irritating politicians didn't listen to me, I'm not risking Knothole," she sighed.

She tilted her head. "Fortunately, we have fallback bases all over," she said tiredly. "The unknown Overlander seems to be radiating unknown energy," NICOLE relayed.

Osiron had really hoped that his current presentation was enough to remove the caution of the newcomers with his presence (that and hopefully would save him having to explain things to a high ranking individual within Knothole just a couple feet nearby), and was especially preparing his thrusters within his lower back and legs when he witnessed one of them, the pink one, brought out a rather unwieldy hammer out to assuming my crush him with. Thankfully, it appears that speaking out was the right answer, as tension quickly died down when they realized he wasn’t a threat. He wasn’t scared of getting his own chassis destroyed… no, he was moreso wanting to not get any scratches onto the armor he just finished polishing some time ago. Self care is rather important especially when the rest of these flesh bags don’t even know the difference between the state of the art rechargeable energy cores and animal batteries. He didn’t need to rely on a meat bag of all things to power him… he was far superior than that.

Removing the thought of animal powered robots to the side, Osiron listened in to the rambling of the pink one, mentioning their name as ‘Amy’ with the two tailed yellow and white creature known as ‘Tails’, apparently the most smartest individual ‘Amy’ has known. The Badnik internally scoffed at such a claim. It’s one thing to mention about someone being smart or not… but it’s another actually showing it within situations that call for it. And even then, a Tactical Genius such as him wouldn’t let himself be affected by common emotions such as ‘fear’ or ‘anger’ which would lead to improper judgement made of the situation which would lead to a worse performance. But moving on… the Badnik was about to respond to the pink Hedgehog… until they went onto a long rant about their skills to Sally. Yeah, he much rather ignore this one.

However, one thing the Badnik did notice was Tails observing his metallic form. And he certainly knew that it wasn’t out of confusion or simply curiosity, it was more so analyzing. But they seemed to have stopped and talked to him instead, explaining on how they are on the same side alongside potential questions sooner or later. Oh great, yet another thing to be bothered by. At the very least, they seemed to be more calm and polite than the earlier one. With Osiron attempting to construct a sentence once again, it was interrupted by… well, the arrival of Robotnik’s forces causing havoc within the Wood Zone (that was detected by an ally) that would have possibly lead to the discovery of Knothole. Now this was something that he needed to calculate a proper response to. So as while the others made their way Gun-ho to blow up some robot behind, Osiron was left behind contemplating something.

Is it more beneficial to simply go within the secret entrance back into Knothole village and not be involved, or join in the fight. There were many advantages and disadvantages with both plans, with the former allowing him to retain secrecy of a Badnik hiding amongst the Freedom Fighters so that he can take advantage of that in order to sneak into enemy territory with little trouble. As far as the other Badniks know, he is simply registered as another one of them within Eggman’s robotic network. Could work as a something to perform a few times, but the downsides is not only that Robotnik would potentially catch on and register him as a threat to any Badnik system (if he wasn’t hostile to a Badnik first), but with his software being somewhat behind date, would he still be registered within the system? Going ahead to fight would ruin the element of surprise if a Badnik manages to record him within the act, but what use is the first plan if there are many risks involved. With such plaguing his mind and the sounds of battle nearby, Osiron had finally calculated his answer.

[New Objective: Aid the Freedom Fighters within the Wood Zone]

With his mind made up, Osiron had begun preparations for going into the Wood Zone to join the battle, the weapon systems within his body becoming energized as the thrusters on his lower back and legs began to flare with heat. Only giving a sigh out loud that would most likely be unheard by anyone, OS-001 only hoped that his choice was the right one. That was a new one… ‘hope’… such a dangerous word to be using. He’ll note that one down to avoid further use of it. Words relating to the hypothetical instead of the proper facts are not his style. Without another word said, Osiron had dashed forward into the Wood Zone, his thruster systems, although incapable of being able to maintain proper flight within the air, still managed to aid his movement to reaching the battle, his speed greatly enhanced than his original speed if he were to have ran normally.

After some seconds of running, he finally approached the scene of battle, his glowing eyes already analyzing the battlefield and taking notes of not only the Badniks that were being fought against, but also the capabilities of his own allies as well. Recording such would not only help in taking down such threats in the future, but also to know the strengths and weaknesses of his own allies so that Osiron can properly make better plans to account for such things. Transforming his right hand into a energy blaster, he began shooting at the chunks of tree pieces aimed towards his allies, vaporizing some but not all of them. Moving his attention onto the Hey Ho, Osiron began analyzing its physical body and already began making notes of strengths and potential weakness.

[Subject Model: Unknown]
[Subject Name: ‘Lumberjacks’]
[Potential Strengths:
-Large size equates to increased strength
-Capacity to hover in the air would make landing standard melee attacks difficult
-Long reach with axe
-Capable of using environment to advantage]
[Potential Weaknesses:
-Destruction of axe will remove main source of attacks
-Destruction of limbs or thrusters will severely impact its fighting capability
-Ranged attacks possibly more useful due to lack of defenses
-Fighting in a plain open field with ranged weaponry will be advantageous]

[Plan Made: Destroy the axe of the Lumberjack before moving to destroy its thrusters]

With his plan made as to defeating the very Badnik in front of him, Osiron had turned to his very allies, his voice module speaking loud and audibly to those within a commanding voice, a voice commonly found amongst officers of the military. One fitting his Overseer nature.

“Proper Plan of engagement has been made, Amy, utilize your hammer in order to strike the ground to remove the underground threats before destroying them. Preferably with another individual as well to maximize the efforts. All others will help in taking down Subject Lumberjack, with me aiming to destroy its axe while you focus upon destroying or disrupting the thrusters on its back to leave it crippled and easy pickings with ranger attacks.”

Osiron had barked out, before his thrusters flared once more as he dashed straight towards the Hey Ho. With his right blaster firing towards the Hey Ho’s head, he was intentionally missing the robot’s head, aiming to have it raise its arms to block the attacks in reflex so that it would limit its vision and allow him to perform his real plan. Once he had gotten close enough, Osiron’s right arm transformed back to his hand, as his left arm become a circular saw, which began to spin with a metal screech as Osiron jumped into the air and aims to grab onto the Hey Ho. If successful at grabbing and digging his right hand into the Badnik’s metal body as to hold on, Osiron would attempt at moving his saw hand to cut off the head of the Hey Ho’s axe, before moving to chop off the Badnik’s right arm as well if he had enough time. Hopefully he’ll be getting some backup soon from his allies.

Amy smiled at the warm and fuzzy feeling which came from the lemur’s compliment. Expressing her gratitude with an exuberant “Aww, you’re too nice!” Realizing she didn’t even know the girl’s name, Amy took to introducing herself. “Oh! I’m Amy Rose by the way, it’s so nice to meet you!” Though the lemur may have struggled to hear Amy as the little hedgehog was in the middle of smashing yet another pawn that had gotten too close for comfort.

While the newly freed Ricky scurried out the beaten bot, Amy began to ask the girl.

“What’s your n-ACK!”

But was cut off mid sentence as the ground suddenly shook beneath their feet. Struggling to keep balance, Amy remembered that they had much more pressing matters to deal with than getting introductions out of the way. Namely, what in the seven time stones was that!?

After some time she’d get a hold of her footing well enough to try and get an idea of whatever could be causing a sudden earthquake. Thankfully the princess had the answer. Burrowbots, just peachy. And judging on the intensity of the quakes, they seemed to be headed right for Knothole, eager to expose the village’s location to that awful doctor. Already the situation wasn’t swee, in the slightest but If only that were the end of it. No, of course it wasn’t. Namely, not that far away from where she was standing Amy could spot another ugly hunk of metal wielding an axe. But this was nothing like the badniks they’d already been fighting. No, this one was real trouble. What did Sonic say its name was? Right, a Hey-Ho.

She’d take to batting away any logs that came her way but a misstep resulted in her nearly tripping right as a log headed in her direction. Thankfully before she met a tragic end a blast of gunfire vaporized the log to smithereens, saving her from a rather splittery fate. It seemed that Mister Robot (Amy was really beginning to regret not asking for everyone’s names when she had the chance) had saved the day. Giving that mechanical giant a smile that stretched from cheek to cheek, She’d shout out a quick yet sincere “Thank you!” in his direction.

Once Mister Robot began barking out orders Amy’s ear perked up at the mention of her name. It seemed the current plan was that while she and someone else lured out the burrowbots, the rest of the party would then focus on dealing with the Hey-Ho. While the plan seemed perfectly reasonable, Amy couldn’t help the festering nervousness at having the fate of Knothole’s safety on her hands. If she screwed up then no more hiding in Wood Zone anymore. Could she really do it? Well, it wasn’t like there were any other options so she’d nod her head in agreement. “Kinda like Whack-a-Mole” Instead of moles they were mechanical monstrosities bent on destroying the last place on Mobius untouched by Robotnik. But besides that it was totally like Whack-a-Mole.

Though now the question was, who else could help her deal with the burrowbots? She scanned the group for anyone who might be willing to help a hedgehog in need.

Even from up above Whisper felt the effects of the quake, the tree she’d been standing on swaying with every shake. Overhearing the Freedom Fighter’s discussion she’d get a general idea of what was going on, including the burrowbots and Hey-Ho’s. Whisper gritted her teeth as the grip on the Wispon tightened. Not good. She wasn’t going to let that *monster* continue to destroy everything in his path. If Knothole fell then what else would there be for mobians? A few hiding spots? And what then when those get found? She wouldn’t let them reach such a point of helplessness. Robotnik would pay.

[@&*!#]

The wisp dragged Whisper out of her thoughts before she’d have the chance to spiral. Whisper slowly took a deep breath in and out. Now wasn’t the time for that. All she needed to focus on was dealing with either the burrowbots or the Hey-Ho. The Laser and Rocket Wisps would be well suited for going against the Hey-Ho, though the Cube wisp would be perfect for helping the hedgehog girl lure out the burrowbots. However she’d need to fret over not being spotted by the girl if she were to help.

After some consideration Whisper found directing her focus on the Hey-Ho to be the better option. However if need be she held no obligation to not help the hedgehog. If worse came to worse then she’d simply slip over, help, and get out of there before the girl could even realize she was there. Nevertheless, there was still a Hey-Ho that needed to be taken down.

Squinting through the lens of her mask Whisper took aim. The Spike wisp quickly exited the weapon, returned to its canister, and was replaced with the laser wisp. She'd have to wait for the Hey-Ho to turn its back on her to get a clear shot at the engine. Finger hovering over the trigger, she waited patiently while the badnik fought against its own kind, sawing off the head of the axe. With the Hey-Ho distracted, Whisper found an opening and pulled the trigger.

A ray of violently cyan energy shot out from the trees in a jagged dizzying pattern as it headed straight for the left engine. If all went well, then the bot would be down by one thruster.

DASH is getting tired by this point , wiping sweat from his brow , his punches and kicks barly doing damage to the badniks that his punches at this point are just pushing away.
he seems to lose hope seeing the giant badnik holding an axe and knocking them towards the fighters .
then he sees it , another badnik , almost just as big as the axe holder

"crap , another one"

he says , but this badnik is breaking down the other robots , it cant be he thinks to himself , a good badnik , a goodnik , this is new .
he watches as the robot shoots down the tin cans before thrusting himself at the axe holder and grabbing him .
the goodnik starts giving out orders to the freedom fighters , finally , a plan that's more than , "beat them up" .

suddently , DASH gets an idea .

" YES! this is exactly what ive been waiting for , HEY , mr robot (he heard amy calling him that) shoot me , just trust me "

the energy from his lasers , he can absorb it and power up a little.
he then sees a cyan light moving through the trees at a high speed .

Acheron's eyes were narrowed as numerous animals were freed from their Badnik shells after he smashed them, usually against one another. He was relying on a blend of speed, power, and agility to do damage to the metal carapaces. His eyes widened fractionally as he almost tumbled into one of the Burrowbot tunnels before he felt the short swords he'd found tremble before he unsheathed them.
Screenshot_20220702-102303.png
He blinked as he realized something. His dark burgundy hair shifted subtly, becoming more spiky and wild with pale golden tips before he tossed both blades down the pit before a chaotic surge of Chaos Lightning shorted out the Burrowbot before, with bared teeth, he ripped the Burrowbot out of its tunnel. "Time to turn these 'bots against themselves," he growled as he pushed off, though the Burrowbot was close to twice his height as well as a third wider.
————·————
Sally had found another of the Burrowbot pits, though she didn't expect the Overlander to run up and leap over the pit, tossing a disabled Burrowbot down the pit before she heard a screeching crunch before a brief eruption of sparks and smoke detonated upward. He grinned as NICOLE detected that the one in the pit was offline.

Miles “Tails” Prower
Location: In the branches
Once step one was planted, Tails found himself sorting out all that came next as if he'd just lost track of where to start. Amid that, however, Tails knew he couldn't hesitate. Hesitation would've given those baddies more time to cause trouble for the Freedom Fighters currently defending Knothole. I should put the Pad away. Maybe there was one thought ignoring that fact and shoved itself unceremoniously into his brain, which would recognize its point. There were many reasons he might need a free hand, or two while flying and it'd not take much to accidentally drop what they were holding.

Yeah, not something Tails would risk when this near to being able to work on *it* again. One hand pried loose and the other would tuck the Pad away somewhere where it'd hopefully remain safe during all this. After being certain it was secure, he'd twist his twin-tails together in preparation and launch himself into the air. First toward overhanging branches...as he told Amy he'd need to land, to rest. Thankfully, those tails got some rest from him and Amy walking, enough to make that ache slower to come creeping back. This lets him reach one branch, then another without too much difficulty despite some that looked safe being farther apart.

It was when he reached his third stop that everything, branch, tree, and ground, shook. “Wha...AHHH!” Feet sliding off the branch they'd just come down onto sent him lurching backward to be over open space, to be over the now long drop. This made the startled question become a shout of surprise...until that lump lurched into his throat. Luckily, he hadn't fully landed though. His still spinning tails brought him to a jarring halt that also sent the ache surging vigorously back through both of those poor appendages. “Oof!” Though in pain, though enough to bring wetness into those blue eyes, they still held out propelling him back onto that branch that he'd gotten so unceremoniously tossed off.

At least those feet weren't tossed off a second time. Settling into place there he let his tails drop behind him, let the aches have the rest they were demanding. Except they were like spikes digging through his tails, making him aware that this would be a little longer than another few seconds.

Tails glanced down while letting them rest, gaze seeking out where the Freedom Fighter and Badniks had gotten to in their fight while he'd been reaching this point. A lot of the Egg Pawns were down letting him spot the larger, ax-wielding Badnik pretty quick among what was left. Between the jetpack cylinders and the arc of its swing still having significant reach, he'd recognize what it was pretty easily. A Hey ho? From what I can see they haven't changed all that much since S-Sonic...Sonic and I last saw one. Tails' ears went flat against his head, with eyes brimming with pain different from that slowly fading in his tails. While he remembered watching Sonic handle Hey hos, those memories were a painful reminder about his big brother's current MIA state. That it wasn't Sonic and Tails right now, it was just Tails alone while the Freedom Fighters below would face off against the Hey ho.

The ax swung into those trees near that large Badnik, with wood of various sizes thrown out into the surroundings. There were some pieces too small to be seen from where Tails was. “The ax has more close-range reach than we do if we try attacking its front. Mister Robot, at least, has enough potential weapon capacity to have something with more range.” All simple facts that didn't explain one thing and, as such, made him raise one hand near his face in a sort of 'I'm thinking sort of way'. “Wasn't the Hey ho that caused things to shake though.” I don't see anything large enough that it would've made everything shake, so whatever did it must be unde....

A robot voice from below floated up faintly, familiar even though with all the noise he didn't catch everything Osiron said. Did catch, however, it telling Amy to utilize her hammer to eliminate underground threats. Burrobots... “That does explain the quake.” His tails twitched absently, willing to be moved again finally as the ache had subsided enough. Enough that he'd soon notice they were able to let him continue his progress upward toward the canopy. At the distance he was at, though, he figured he wouldn't have more than one pause before he'd pass through them and be able to see where these Badniks came from. Okay, it won't be much longer before I'll be back down there.

Still, he'd twist his tails together and launch himself off the branch, flying up while keeping an eye out for the next branch. Unlike the last branch, he didn't get knocked off this time, which meant he only would pause there a few seconds before continuing.

The search for extra hands on deck didn’t take long as it appeared the overlander was already going to town on one burrow bot, electrifying it with crackling electricity. With that one down Amy watched as he made a mad dash to where another bot seemed to have burrowed itself, heading underground to launch the already destroyed bot towards the still operating one. Shielding herself from the eruption of sparks and smoke, she smiled and cheered him on. “That takes care of that!” Though Amy couldn’t help but wonder, she swore that his hair had been a different color a little while ago. Had she been imagining it? Well now wasn’t the time for wondering, she needed to jump into action. “Alright, now it’s my turn! Let’s see where the other bots are”

Amy kneeled down close to the ground, closing her eyes as she pressed an ear against the floor. If she focused hard enough maybe she’d be able to figure out the other bot’s locations based on where the rumbling was coming from.

Hmm…” She hummed to herself, deep in concentration. After a few moments her eyes opened up wide as a grin stretched across her face. “Found one!” It wasn’t that far off from where she was, though it was quickly making its way towards Knothole’s direction. There wasn’t a moment to lose. With a quick hop up from the ground Amy made a mad dash in the boy’s direction. Every step closer she could feel the earth shake more and more, a helpful clue to its presence. Finally when it was at its strongest Amy could tell she was nearly right above it. Now it was time for the harder part of the plan, getting the burrowbot to emerge from underground. She’d need to make a big enough collision with the ground that’d distract the bot but considering all of the ruckus that the bot itself was making, Amy would need to make a real big noise.

Well, it was time to make her move. Amy raced along as she followed the burrow bots path before launching herself into the air. Winding her hammer behind her head, she put all of her strength into her arms as her body hurdled towards the floor.

523YpQkvi6u_EgGZOc7aF35oUWsY4Pr753GwcIfu4EYrpzeQKb_AMOJScrP4nhX6jcefT44RyQpEM7ejVaL7k_jkIeyanTKsoOIWYrfHKrgXi4L32sJijGca5GGlNriLCqd_eoI3LDB8yJLOJEWvvg

In the blink of an eye the pink hedgehog’s hammer smacked against the earth with a resounding ‘piko’ as dirt, dust, and hearts rose up from the impact. Anyone nearby most definitely would have felt the earth shake below them as the force of Amy’s strike rivaled the power of even the burrowbots own destructive movement.

After such an attack Amy had to pry her piko piko hammer from out of the ground, leaving a crater the exact circumference of the hammer’s head. She waited in anxious anticipation for the bot to emerge. Did she do it? Thankfully in no time she’d hear the bot emerge from the surface, visibly dazed and confused. Now was the time to strike!

Curling into a ball, Amy gave the burrowbots no chance to recover as she delivered a spin dash right into its sorry face, her quills ripping apart every piece of metal until it was nothing but total scrap. She landed a bit of a distance away and eagerly turned to see the result of her efforts.

She’d pump up a fist of victory seeing a Flicky fly out from the robots remains. “Got it!” She’d woop. Turning over to where Sally stood, she’d call out in the princess’ direction “How many of them are left now?”

Whisper
Location: In the trees

Awaiting the results of her shot, Whisper had noticed the yellow fox from earlier scurrying up the trees. Quickly she hid herself before the fox could even have the chance of noticing her presence. Holding her breath, she relaxed once it seemed rather obvious that the boy was too preoccupied with scaling the tree to notice her. As the fox became a smaller dot as he scaled up the trees, Whisper paid him no mind as she reached for her Wispon once more. Now, where was she?

Using her scope, she surveyed the combatants below. There was the overlander dealing with some burrowbots as well as the pink hedgehog doing the exact same. Whisper’s attention then moved towards the princess staring at her handheld computer, grinning to herself. Then there was the lemur using her dizzyingly long tail to take down a multitude of pawns, clearing out the foot soldiers. By the Hey Ho she could see the badnik stil, dealing with the bot and lastly a black hedgehog. She quirked her head slightly as she heard his demand. Did he seriously want the badnik to shoot him? Was he crazy? Wait, she’d heard him talking about absorbing energy not that long ago. Was that what he meant? Whisper thought to herself, would he be able to absorb hyper-go-on? It didn’t seem like an impossible idea, the wisps were practically made to be absorbed into things after all. Plus, considering he was poised right in her rifles’ direction it’d be a perfect shot.

It felt rather strange to be aiming her weapon at an ally, a little too weird in fact. The laser wisp inside flew out of her weapon before she’d be able to shoot. It seemed the little creature had a better idea.

Floating down from the trees the wisp got in front of the black hedgehog, waving a tendril as if it were saying hello. Then without a moment to waste it phased inside of the hedgehog, offering up all its energy to him. The hedgehog would surely feel a dramatic boost of crackling energy from within. This was the cyan wisps’ power and hopefully it’d be suitable for the hedgehog’s needs.

Acheron exhaled slowly, icy cold mist leaking from the corners of his mouth as his hair paled from a deep, rich burgundy to an almost pale pinkish white with icy blue tips. If one looked at the ground as he pushed off, they'd notice that frost formed and coated the grass for roughly three quarters of a second after his bared feet hit the ground before melting in brief tendrils of steam. "If that doesn't show that big impacts come in small packages, I don't know what would," he commented to Amy with amusement.

Sally blinked at his comment. She cocked her head as she saw electricity flickering in his irises. As she tugged out NICOLE, she cocked her head as he abruptly pushed off before her eyes widened fractionally.

Tangle the Lemur
Interactions: Amy Rose ( SheepKing SheepKing ), Osiron ( Lazaro1505 Lazaro1505 )

As another Badnik dropped, it'd prompt Tangle into letting out one loud, “WOO” in an exuberant indication of delight. Without pause after the cry, Tangle turned immediately to listen as the pink hedgehog introduced herself as 'Amy Rose'. Tangle raised her tail into a seeming wave in response to that. However, before either Tangle or Amy got much further into that introduction, the ground lurched beneath their feet. Even when that settled somewhat there were still bits of wood flying in their direction, and every other direction throughout that area. Except who'd notice that amid being assaulted by tree bits? Not Tangle who'd gone to duck into 'safety' behind her still raised tail.

Neither the quake nor the pelting wood did anything to tone down Tangle's enthusiasm though. She'd still turn to speak over her shoulder to the pink hedgehog who'd at least gotten to finish her part of the introduction. “Well, it is nice to meet you, Amy! I'm Tangle the Lemur!” Anything else she might've thought to say went unsaid since the robot spoke, listing off several commands to deal with the underground targets and the lumberjack Badnik. It then raised its arm which then transformed into a weapon that then opened fire on that metallic, lumberjack-type of menace.

Luckily this disrupted the wood assaulting her and let the lemur shake out her tail, sending a cascade of bits and splinters scattering onto the ground. “Yeah! Let's get them!” The question was whether to go after the burrobots or the Hey ho, she heard it tell Amy to go after the former. However, burrobots were underground, in an enclosed space that Tangle didn't particularly want to be the one to deal with. That left her to help against the Hey ho! Except with that hail of shots coming from the Mister Robot toward the Hey ho she couldn't head directly at their enemy.

At least not until Osiron switched to melee. Tangle immediately went to circle around the combatants to try to get a better angle onto the situation, slowly coming around behind the Hey ho. As she made it around them, the corner of her vision caught sight of some cyan ray rushing into view on a course toward the Hey ho. If she'd had blinked she would've missed it.

But, she hadn't blinked and in its wake, she sent her tail out toward the lumberjack baddie, to try grabbing onto the head, or near the head area. If it got hold the tail would yank Tangle toward the scuffle with legs outstretch so as to slam feet first into the upper part of the Hey ho's thrusters.

the bluelight dash saw turned out to be a wisp , which confused him cause in his point of view , he just saw some flying octopus slowly floating towards him waving his arms .

"what are you "

dash puts his hand foreward to touch the creature only for it to be absorbed into his body and for him to feel a charge of power , the energy ingulfs his body and bursts giving him a small aura and making the ground beneath him shake for a second.

dash jumps upward rolling into a ball and then crashes into the ground to cause the burrowbots to be pushed out .

" you know what to do amy , give em a home run "

he then from the ground boosts himself with the wisp's energy changing his movement from the spin dash into a full flying kick towards the hey ho yelling at osiron to get ready.
"hey robot , get ready to snap off this bastard's head"

Acheron didn't realize that his pale pinkish white, icy blue tipped hair swayed in the breeze. "Let's show this thing a double impact," he commented to Amy with amusement as he drew back a fist as he let out a low hiss of breath as he felt his skin split before the chilled air froze the moisture which gathered into an dense frozen orb no larger than a baseball but with the explosive force of several sticks of dynamite.

Sally blinked as NICOLE was picking an explosive energy in the Overlander's grasp. Her head cocked as she could tell that whatever it was had some force behind it.

Location: Above Wood Zone

He'd gone past various branches, stragglers that were separated from the main mass of greenery overhead, on his way up. If he looked down he would've known there were enough to be starting to cut off his view of all the hubbub of activity happening below. Except, apparently, when one has a potential faceful of canopy about to slap them in their face, they tend to focus on that more.

Tails would angle himself so he'd go through what looked to be a less dense patch within that green umbrella of leaves. For one moment, the rest of creation was cut off from view leaving nothing other than branches visible, extending out in various directions from their respective trees. Almost like grasping fingers that didn't actually grasp onto anything, like that little fox weaving upward between them, that went past. The leaves, however, extended further out beyond where those tree limbs could reach, making a few brush up against him as he went. Several would even get stuck into his fur where they were left poking out here and there as proof of his passage through where those branches reigned.

Then that moment was over, with leaves parting to reveal the open sky. Or as much open sky as there still was amidst all the activity that was buzzing throughout the neighboring and nearby Zones. Tails came to a jerky halt that left him hovering right where the canopy ended, where he could see out over Wood Zone to the other nearby Zones. With the ache building furiously in those spinning appendages, he wouldn't be able to stay hovering there for very long. Which meant he needed to HURRY rather than take in everything he could about the situation.

So he made a quick turn that let him take in all he could before bringing his attention to fully settle onto the main threat that was dominating the sky above Emerald Hill's shores. What once was a lush Zone now made him inhale a sharp, horrified breath, like much of Mobius could probably do as of late. Probably for the same reasons that Emerald Hill did now. Oh! Emerald Hill doesn't look so good and will keep getting worse while the...Badniks are there... Owww!

Between that airship, the smaller Badniks spreading to the other Zones nearby, and the trails of smoke rising from Emerald Hill, it was clear there was more to see... However, the ache grew now to thoroughly permeate his poor twin-tails, which were beginning to struggle, to make him wobble some from the effort of staying aloft. The wavering motion meant one thing and even Tails couldn't ignore the obvious sign that he needed to be heading back down. NOW!

At which, the fox immediately dove back into the path he'd taken to get up above those trees, his course veering straight to beelining toward the first branch that came into view that looked sturdy enough for him to land on.

In the corner of her vision Amy could catch a glimpse of bright teal, brighter than any teal she’d ever seen. Just what was that? She wouldn’t even have the time to process whatever as going on as not a moment later she’d feel the ground start to shake once more. Amy shielded herself as a flurry of dirt and grass rose up from the ground as what appeared to be the black hedgehog crashed into the earth like a bullet from a gun. This seemed to be enough for the remaining burrowbot to finally rise to the surface. With some words of encouragement, it seemed she was on the okay to start smashing. Though, just as she was about to smack the bot into high heaven, Amy received an offer from the overlander.

“A double impact…?”

She grinned mischievously, “Sounds like music to my ears!”

Getting in a batting position, she looked up at him and chirped, “Alright, I’ll count us off. One…two….”

She winded her hammer back and did a practice swing, lining up her hammer as if it were a game of golf. Finding the perfect swing, she finally shouted out.

“Three!”

And with that she slammed her hammer into the bot. Surely with the combined power of both her piko piko hammer and the mysterious Overlander’s powers they’d send the bot flying through the sky until it was nothing but a speck in their vision.

“Home run! Looks like that stupid egghead won’t be finding Knothole any time soon. High five!”

Offering up a gloved hand for high fiveing, she’d look up to the Overlander with the cutest smile, clearly proud of their work.

As she waited for the overlander, Amy would notice Tails finally coming down from the tree. Eager for answers she’d run over and ask, “What’d you see?” Though she knew that it couldn’t have been anything good. In the back of her mind Amy took note of the little fox’s condition, feeling rather guilty that she’d been the one to ask him to do such a demanding task.

Whisper observed from her post as the laser wisp melded with the black hedgehog, encasing him within a bright aura of cyan light. The Wisp were certainly strange creatures weren’t they? Even the wolf for as long as she’d been with her team didn’t know the full potential of the aliens. The cube wisp would leave its canister and rub up against her hand, to which she’d respond by petting the creature.

“We’ll have to find out just what you all are capable of”

[!%%*$]

Though the first step would really have to be finding a way to translate their language. It’d be way easier if she could simply ask them themselves after all. But nevermind that, there were more important matters to deal with first. Namely, it seemed that this battle was close to its climax. Based on what the pink girl had said there weren’t any more burrowbots to deal with and the Hey Ho looked pretty close to being finished with. Once the laser wisp finished helping out the black hedgehog she’d most likely make her getaway. With that in mind Whisper began the task of scaling down the tree. Using the Hover wisp to make a gentle decline down to the floor. Hiding behind the tree, she’d watch the battle through the lens of her mask, namely focusing on her wisp and the black hedgehog.

Acheron smirked as he drew his arm back at her countdown. "Tōshōdan Bakugeki," he muttered as the Burrowbot was sent flying from her strike, his strike burying deep in its internal workings. Unknown to Amy, however, the gleam wasn't a reflective surface reflecting sunlight, but his strike detonating and ripping the Burrowbot to many peices. "Not bad. You'd be dangerous with a warhammer or a cleaving blade," he commented wryly as he returned her high five, thoughtful. Had they looked closely, a very noticeable difference was evident. Where most Overlanders had four fingers and more rarely, five... he clearly had five fingers.
————·————
Sally's eyes narrowed fractionally, thinking. Something about the energy felt... oddly familiar. She couldn't put her finger on what it was, however. She saw Tails dropping down towards them before his flight wavered as she saw him drop. Even as she pushed off to catch him, she saw the Overlander dart forward, sliding on his knees so Tails landed high on his abdomen and chest, the Overlander hugging him close. "Careful there, little buddy. You're obviously exhausted, but I'm guessing that you saw something you don't like," she heard him say softly. She winced as Sonic had always called Tails that particular nickname, though obviously the Overlander was unaware of that fact.

Each burrow bot was disposed of one by one, each animal scurrying away. For now, the location of Knothole would be safe.
Hey Ho was nearly down. Sparks flew from each opening as its joints faltered and bent out of place. Seems its ax is becoming harder to wield second by second.
As a last-ditch effort, Hey Ho began to spin its body around wildly acting like a bladed tornado.
While this attack would certainly provide more than just a close shave to anyone who got in the way, it also seemed to slowly be tearing Hey Ho apart and small pieces of its body haphazardly scattered about. One piece, in particular, tumbled into a nearby bush.

While the Freedom fighters could attempt to wait it out, Hey Ho if left completely unattended could destroy a good portion of the forest if this keeps up.
Tree after tree would continue to fall much to the dismay of anyone who may be camping up on top.

Dr. Robotnik stepped foot into the dusty halls of his old base. Thankfully Metropolis had not been entirely shut down, unlike Scrap brain.
With only a few clicks everything was back in business.
Robotnik decided to first check on the progress of his soldiers, oddly enough most of the video feed was either offline or severely damaged. He scowled, something was up and it clearly wasn't just going to go away and the bots currently on the field were not up to par. This initial annoyance turned to excitement as a grin grew on his mustached face, the doctor had been itching for a challenge after so long.
However, his eggomatic would take a moment to arrive.
In the meantime why not check up on future plans. His monitor brought up a clock over footage of Never lake. Little planet's yearly appearance was fast approaching and there was something left behind that the doctor would like to retrieve.

Acheron swiftly grabbed one of the fallen axes before he let a slight smirk. "Time to chop down the Tin Man," he muttered gruffly as his hair became wild and spiky, his bangs shifting to a deep golden color, before he darted at the Hey Ho. He didn't realize he was moving at subsonic speeds not unlike a certain blue hedgehog. What was evident was trails of sparks darting at high speed around the Hey Ho, glowing gashes opening in the metal carapace as it was melting from the strikes before Acheron reappeared, hurling the axe which was glowing a dull red. The axe spun with a low sizzling hum before not only cleaving through the haft of the Hey Ho's axe just below the head, but impacting the drone... in the chest and head.

He turned away as the Hey Ho's carapace shuddered before slumping down moments before it detonated.

When Tails emerged beneath the canopy, he'd glance around, fatigue slowing his realization that some more Badnik wreckage now lay strewn around the area. A telltale nose drill here, general bits and pieces there, all letting him know that Amy'd definitely 'utilized her hammer.' That didn't mean they were fine, and his gaze kept darting about, drawn to each movement to check where everyone was. He'd spot Sally and Amy within that time before surging pain literally and figuratively seized onto both bushy appendages. Disrupting the rotation that'd been keeping aloft and, in turn, sent him plummeting downward.

"AA-*!" This freefall made his stomach and panicked sound lurch into his throat, where it'd get stuck as he couldn't gather enough energy to scream. Best Tails could do as he saw the rapidly approaching ground looming closer was shut his eyes, with ears pressed against his head. Because they were closed, he didn't see the Overlander slide under him until his falling form dropped against something that wasn't the ground. What little air he'd still had in his lungs got knocked out of him with a quiet, "oof."

Almost immediately, he'd feel arms holding onto him, stable and not shaky like each breath pulling air back into those lungs. Somewhere beneath that shakiness was a sheepishness that would've begun to build, except the Overlander caught him spoke. Did I hear that right...? His ears shot up, twitching while pinpricks of moisture came to his eyes as that familiar nickname mixed with that unfamiliar voice. Unfamiliar hug too. Something more amid that left a niggling thought toward the back of his mind that he couldn't quite grasp. Too much else was making a racket inside his head that he had to settle for a quizzical tilt of one ear.

"S...S..." Okay, so maybe his voice was still too breathless and shaky to get the words out. It had little to do with the other knot of emotion twisted up in his throat. Swallowing down that lump, Tails found enough strength to open both his eyes again to a sight that was likewise unfamiliar to him. He'd finally get a word out while he tried to move...well, more like lurch away from the Overlander. His gaze even dropped somewhat off to one side shyly. "S-sorry. I meant to get closer to the ground before th-they gave out..."

The direction his gaze had lowered in turned out to be the same side that Amy'd been coming from. His eyes would snap up to the pink hedgehog when he noticed her approaching. "Amy, it is getting bad out there. I could see...look out!"

And down here, he saw the Hey ho beyond her start spinning around and around like an out-of-control top. Pieces of it were even flying around, pieces Tails could possibly identify, and one that he couldn't identify dropping into that bush. He'd lunge toward her. Would shove her aside to be out of the way of at least one speeding piece, which would then pelted off his arm.

As he did so, however, he'd hear the Overlander's comment about it being 'time to chop down the Tin Man.' Following that, he'd glimpse said Overlander as he charged towards the Hey ho, having a brief moment wherein Tails could notice the hair changing in an oddly familiar, recognizable way. If question marks could be visible, there would've been quite a number of them dancing around the little fox's head.

Tangle the Lemur
Location: Wood Zone
Interactions: Acheron ( Ransokyos Ransokyos )
Tangle bent her knee to launch herself away from the Hey ho, to get the distance necessary for another blow. However, the Badnik would begin to spin as she did try springing away. Between her own jump and its sudden spin, both sent her tumbling pretty far back into the midst of Wood Zone's trees. She'd roll as she landed, bringing herself back onto her feet all set for round 2 against the now-rotating Badnik. "Hey! Leave those defenseless trees alone, I have a limb that is more than willing to meet you instead!"

Her tail drew back, balling the end like it's some fist about to swing at the lower half of Hey ho, given the height she had it. Before she could, there were trails of sparks appearing to zoom around the baddie, with gashes and other marks appearing onto its suddenly much less menacing form. Each cut seemingly appeared on it as easily as it was to carve up butter. Despite that, her tail didn't lower, even stayed balled up and ready until the Badnik slummed, exploding soon after too.

Only then did the lemur lower her tail while turning to follow where the trail of sparks had ended up. "NICE! I bet if they could the trees would thank you!" She called over, waving cheerfully to the Overlander.

Acheron chuckled as he dropped the axe, which had partially crystallized from the amount of Chaos Energy he'd channeled through it. However, the moment it hit the ground, it shattered into dust. "Wouldn't surprise me any. I can feel the energy flowing through most things. Ugh," he commented before he dropped to his knees with a groan. "Legs are almost numb... Obex warned me about this from too much of his Chaos Energy flowing through my body," he muttered hoarsely. His stomach grumbled rather loudly at the same time.

Looking up at the descending Tails’ Amy frowned. He didn’t usually descend that uncontrollably, did he? She could tell that something was very, very, wrong. Tails wasn’t just simply flying down. No, by the looks of it he was actually falling, and fast. She’d move to try and catch him but it was clear she wouldn’t reach him in time.

“No!” She yelled just as the overlander shot past her and towards the base of the towering tree, catching Tails just moments before he would have hit the forest floor. Panic quickly turned to relief once it was clear that he’d been saved. That was way too close for Amy’s liking. Nevertheless, she dashed her way over to where the overlander and Tails sat, the former appearing to hold the latter in his arms. Though it certainly wouldn’t last very long as Tails stumbled out from the overlander’s grip, visibly dazed and quite honestly looking like a total mess.

However it would only be when Tails’ directly addressed Amy would she see the extent of his condition. From the moment she’d stumbled upon Tails in Wood to now, the fox’s already terrible status seemed to only be getting all the more worse by the second. Exhaustion loomed over the boy as yellow fur hid all bumps and bruises he’d accumulated. It honestly was a miracle that the fox hadn’t passed out by now considering just how utterly worn out he looked. Just staring at the little guy made Amy wish she could just pick him up and drag him down to Knothole so he could get the proper medical attention he surely needed.

Unfortunately there were other matters at hand, such as what the fox had actually seen from above the trees. Just before Tails could finish his sentence an ear splitting crack of wood and metal interrupted the two. Was that the Hey Ho? She’d thought the others were close to being finished with it. Just what was going on?

As she turned around to get a peak Amy barely registered Tails’ shout before she could feel being suddenly shoved out of the way, landing on the ground. Something zipped past her, barely just missing the girl as it split the air. Only an awful thud noise would conclude the object’s path as whatever had shoved the hedgehog out of its way had become the new target.

Dazed and confused, Amy pulled herself up and winced at the sight before her. Tails had been the once to save her and in his sacrifice had been hit. A shriek left her throat as she dashed back to the fox, fearing the worst. Thank the source, nothing vital had been the victim of the attack. But still, she found herself stuttering out, “Your arm!”.

The sight of his battered limb was enough to make the hedgehog see red. Tails had been through far enough! He’d accomplished his job to survey the area so that meant his work here was done. She wasn’t going to let the fox push himself any further than he’d already had.

“Tails, I really think you should head into Knothole! If you got any more hurt than you already are I don’t know what I’d do!”

The words left unsaid however, were that she couldn’t bare to see him hurt himself because of her own shortcomings.

Biting the inside of her cheek, Amy forced her focus away from these thoughts. She was getting side tracked. All that mattered now was doing her best to make sure Tails wasn’t hurt any more than he already was. Taking a deep breath in and out, she looked at the surrounding area, only just noticing that the overlander had left to go fight the Hey Ho. On any other day she would have surely felt surprise at seeing the young man’s hair turn a striking gold but honestly, she had way too many other emotions to unpack that a change of hair color barely took space in her mind. However, she would frown with worry the moment he dropped to his knees in exhaustion. Not good. Not good at all.

From where she hid Whisper could see that the situation was not looking good in the slightest. The yellow fox was down for the count while the Hey Ho continued to mindlessly twirl its body, slicing apart anything that came its way, which happened to include the abundance of trees in the surrounding area. The mercenary gritted her teeth as she had to dodge roll to get out of the way of a log coming in her direction, hitting the nearby tree with a loud crack. Once again, not looking good. She needed to do something fast. But what? Her laser wisp was still aiding the black hedgehog so her primary method of elimination was a no go. The rocket wisp was too dangerous to use in this environment as a shot from it could potentially set the entire forest ablaze. That only left a cube, spike, or hover which wasn't ideal for combat.

Surveying her options, Whisper quietly called out to her cube wisp. If she could get a good hit in with the hammer then she might be able to finish this. Backing up, her variable Wispon began to transform, a blue cube shaped aura crowning the tip of the barrel. Weapon ready, she dashed out from her hiding spot and lunged at the spinning Hey Ho. Though as her hammer careened closer to the machine’s head she could catch a glimpse of something slicing into it, seemingly completely destroying the machine’s outer shell with a resounding explosion. Thankfully the smoke and fire gave Whisper the perfect cover as she slammed the Wispon into the Hey Ho’s skull, crushing it to bits. In between this flurry of action, she caught a glance at the badnik which claimed itself as an ally to the freedom fighters, still grabbing onto the machine. She didn’t doubt that a machine of that caliber wouldn’t be affected by the explosion happening right in front of it but still, Whisper didn’t want it to be squashed by the Hey Ho once it fell to the earth. Hopping off from what remained of the Hey Ho’s head, she fell towards the badnik ally, in one swift motion kicking it away. Whisper herself just barely managed to roll out of the way of the Hey Ho’s slumped body.

Picking herself up from the ground Whisper wiped the dirt and ash which littered her cloak. However she quickly came to a stop, freezing in her place. She’d landed quite literally in front of the last person she’d want to be exposed to, Princess Sally Acorn. Like a deer caught in headlights, Whisper froze under the eyes of the princess, her mind going completely blank despite the alarms ringing in her brain telling her to move.

dash seems in deep concentration , he notices the object flying towards him , he opens his eyes at the perfect moment kicking it towards the hey ho's saw that seemed to be finally slowing down .
he stops his movement towards the hey ho and lands on the ground , he does notice a shadow moving inside of the smoke , thinking its another saw from the hey ho he jumps at it trying to grab it to slow it down bouncing on the badnik he's still calling mr robot .
the texture of what he thinks was a saw confued him as he realises that he's grabbing someone , and not something.

Acheron's eyebrow twitched upward as the dark furred anthro hedgehog grabbed his still spiky hair as he was tossed back as the Hey Ho's carapace detonated. His feet slid in the dust as he managed to regain his footing, the adrenaline giving his legs a bit of strength rather than feeling rubbery. "You mind?" he deadpanned.

Sally blinked, cocking her head. "Obviously, you don't work for Robotnik," she deadpanned.

It made sense to head back into Knothole as Tails knew he, at present, couldn't help them much. Despite knowing that, another thought still would drown out the sensible part with attempted reminders about what he'd potentially find amid the wreckage. His sleepy brain, however, couldn't fully grasp all the reasons to check it out. "I-I should check if there is anything I can use. The size of some of the scrap suggests it could be adapted to fit." Tails turned his gaze toward the wreckage with his hand coming up in front of him in a somewhat nervous gesture.

A gesture that grew even more nervous because, although not looking in her direction, he could practically feel the well-intentioned annoyance oozing from Amy. She was scary when she set her mind to protecting a friend's health, and the implication that he was thinking about investigating everything *NOW*... The intensity next to him would force him into admitting, "which is all stuff that might still be there in a few hours...?"

However, he didn't move from that spot other than slowly, carefully turning to face the concerned, pink hedgehog. The little fox would extend one yellow arm to point in Emerald Hill's direction. Now that the Hey ho couldn't interrupt, Tails would resume what he'd been trying to say before. "Emerald Hill is on fire! By which I mean that I could see the smoke rising from there. The shores are a huge mess and look to be where was hit first. There still is an airship dropping Badniks there too."
