Lazaro1505 Lazaro1505

Actions: 1. Collect some resources from the strange meteor that crashed nearby, using tools to mine from it 2. Study more into the fire elemental dog’s crystal

Order 1: Mining of the Meteor.

Khamsin carefully mines the meteor, its power draining capabilities very dangerous. The operation would have gotten dangerous, if Maureen had not faithfully assisted Khamsin by covering his body with earth, things could have gotten ugly. But, Maureen seemed to enjoy Khamsin's company. So, together, Khamsin managed to collect the 5 units of Meteor metal from the meteor and safely store it in a ball of stone for him to figure out how to use later. Some did get on Khamsin's solar array, and oh boi, it seemed to meld with the solar cells and while it burned itself out, it did negate Khamsin's power costs for the past two turns.

The Solar array is not damaged in anyway, just quite warm. Hmm, maybe some coolant could help. Or a particular crystal?

Studying the crystal lended some interesting ideas. With the meteor metal, Khamsin determined that the crystal could absorb heat and always wanted to. Could be useful in using the meteor metal to massively improve the fire doggos. But, he would need to find someone with the knowledge. Maybe Klein knew? Lord Fro had been studying fire magic somewhat openly. Maybe Klein could help, if Khamsin would consider it.

Another note: The crystal seems good to make fires, and it seems to light up in the direction of high heat signatures. Could be useful to track down particular enemies.

ECLIPSE
An eclispe has covered Nosér, solar power is no longer usable. The dead also seem to be stronger now. Be careful.... The light has faded. Only the faintest of two glows remain: Red and Purple. The purple is losing....

Duck Pilgrimage
A mass of ducks are making a pilgrimage from the north to Winkhampton, they will arrive on turn 5 somehow. This is poorly timed as the dead will not assist in containing the corruption that is burrowing towards our intrepid travelers....

Kal El had taken a moments respite from his dog training, sitting atop his cart with a stick in hand and an army of wagging tails eagerly waiting. Arcing his arm back he threw the stick forward, Krypto's head rolling in his lap slightly in the exertion, as with a chorus of barks, his playful pack took off after it, the contents of the packs on their harnesses crackling away as they ran. Hastily made with the rope and leather of the salvaged sack, of which its contents had led to more questions than answers, Kal El was letting the dogs grow accustomed to the harnesses as he continued the dogs training, his life on the Kent farm filling him with ideas for their continued growth. Fine trackers now, Clark had decided on training them as drafting dogs. While certainly a more fitting job for a horse or a pack mule, as was the case back home, there was no replicating the special bond between a boy and his dog.

Thick as thieves since birth, his Krypto had selflessly sacrificed himself to save the young Kal El, throwing himself into the Phantom Zone to save him from it's evil escapees. But still his canine confidant watched over him, his nose pressed to the glass of the prison, faithfully following him from the end of his world to the start of his new life on a new one. When the boy was low, the dog was there, when the young man went exploring, the dog was right beside him. Through all his adventures the dog was by his side, doing his best, to protect him from harm. Until at last they were reunited, the boy now a man but a boy scout at heart.

Reaching behind him to grab an egg, Kal El gripped it between his fingers, cracking it's shell and lifting it above him as he swallowed the yolk. Kal El had finished the last of his food supplies, meagre eggs and bread as his dogs ate the last of the meat, both dried and fresh. Soon Kal El would try attaching the cart to the dogs, after their brief recess, getting them use to it before training them to pull.

They would need all the energy they could get, as with the dark shadows of the eclipse looming over them, Superman's power would not be returning too soon. While there had been a momentary spark of hope, Superman thinking his super hearing had returned too him as a melodious message reached his ear. Thinking it a song from a nearby village, instead it had come from Ukemin, a fellow Mote bearer. Keeping his distance he had not been bothered, the group he had arrived with leaving him in peace but still Superman had yet to trust them. He had died in his fight with Doomsday, and all that surrounded him now where his own loving memories. Was this but a snare by the demons of the afterlife, the plight of the people a tempting tether of which to bind him. He could not in all honesty say. With the dead lumbering around everywhere, was this not the afterlife...

Almost if sensing his plight, the spirit of Johnathon had approached him, putting his hand on his shoulder to reassure him as he looked on with a steely expression. Manifesting a shovel, the spirit marched southwest.

Have a little faith in your old man the wind seemed to whisper as Johnathon left.

With a sigh, Kal El stroked the head of this worlds Krypto, kneading his fingers behind his ears as the other dogs tussled over the stick. Once their training was complete, he would travel northwards as the satchel bode, following the roads as stated on Lokk's letter and posing as the man in the interim, intending to find a village.

While it would have been much easier to pose as the soldier in his early days, his super plasticity and super ventriloquism a useful powerset in such an endeavour, he had a learn a few tricks as a reporter.

With a fitting lead and cover story, Clark would set out to better prepare himself for his latest adventure, speaking to locals and travellers, gaining clarity and insight into this whole situation that he now found himself in. With the mountain looming ahead, and the symphonic speech playing on his mind Kal El aimed to also better prepare himself for what was too come, seeking to help forge better tools for this tumultuous time.

Mercurius
"Hmmm. They don't seem to be pleased." Mercurius said to himself as he looked towards the origin of the roar. It seemed like his purifier seemed to have disturbed the corruption in this area. Looks like the Goddess was right seeing that the corruption had responded to his device. However, it would seem like he didn't fully purge the area of corruption and that they would come to stop him from fullying purifying the cell. "I guess I will have to hasten my efforts," Mercurius said as he drew out his hands to conjure out another purifier. It had brought him a bit of nostalgia that made him sad. Why was he sad? Mercurius didn't know entirely himself.

Though as he went to make another purifier something was hitting his leg. "Oh? What do you need?" Mercurius quizzically said as he saw his duck bat his leg with its wings. It raised its head and looked up at him.

"Quack! Quack! Quack!"

Mercurius rubbed in chin. What his companion said was sound reasoning. Ukemin and the others in this camp didn't know that the purifiers were the reason that the corruption was rushing over. Meaning that their primary target were the purifiers themselves. It would be a good idea to inform them about this vital information, so they would be best prepared. "Very well inform them about this if you would." With that Mercurius turned back around in creating the second purifier.

The duck stood there confounded before raising its arms, or rather wings, in protest. "Quack! Quack! Quack!"

"It was your idea and I'm preoccupied with creating the second purifier. I also have faith that Lady Ukemin and Sigimund will be able to understand you." Mercurius simply said. The duck raised its wings in disbelief before running off to find the Goddess. It'd would have to try and inform them despite the fact it could not speak the common tongue.

It would have been a good morning, but it wasn’t.

A solar eclipse, at such a time, with a hue of light that was oh-so foreboding? And the army’s lookouts too, had announced the distant, but massive tide of ducks that looked to be approaching Winkhampton, their motley pilgrimage so loud that a northerly wind could usher in their quacks. If R’s statements of how the dead were predisposed towards fighting corruption was true, it would definitely be problematic…though it wasn’t as if Sigismund wasn’t do the ducks jobs for them either. Ukemin, frying some eggs over a skillet, pondered upon such subjects. Over the last week or two, her followers had grown via the General’s kindness. Certainly, it took a magnanimous heart to allow one’s own troops to desert and join a wanderer such as herself, but perhaps they were meant to serve as her protectors too, now that she had so flamboyantly revealed her true nature. Though six fresh-faced recruits were hardly going to stop what was coming towards them, they certainly livened up the place a bit more, much to LOCK’s chagrin.

Flanked by a talkative Tamali and a fascinated Thestern while also being side-eyed by Tillo (who looked 100% as if he suspected the Kameraz to be some sort of steelbound demon), LOCK did the best it could to answer questions while simultaneously studying the diagrams of the dwarven siege machines that it had sketched out the days before. As perhaps the most skilled individual present, it held a great burden, one that was unfortunately not quite understood by the primitive fleshlings around it. It occasionally turned to Ukemin, faceless face likely crying for her to do something about all the poking and prodding, but what was the Goddess to do here? Just stifle the absolutely adorable curiosity of her children? Heaven forbid that!

Vael and Kani, meanwhile, seemed to be the members of the differing faction that were most enthused about figuring out the pecking order. It was quite funny to Ukemin, honestly, that both of them affected the ‘cool uncle’ look, yet were engaged in the most immature competition ever: arm-wrestling. The Wildborn was slender, but the length of his forearm gave him comparatively more leverage, while the Tolarian was undoubtedly the more muscular one, offering more foundational strength to counteract that genetic advantage. Simply put, the two hardheaded men had been at a stalemate for the past three minutes, and Hatten and Nakaya, who were recruited as ‘counterfactionally biased referees’, had long tired of such behavior and were conversing about…Winkhampton’s architecture? Weird fellows, all around.

Thankfully, the kids were getting along at least. Being the oldest of the bunch, Rickar provided some much-needed relief for Kume, who could finally afford to take his eyes off Mafuno for a couple minutes. The two boys, despite or perhaps owing to their age gap, bonded quickly over their shared interest in meticulous work, with only the current scarcity of wood being what prevented the two of them from immediately heading out and trying to figure out all the specifics of the Steam Wagon. The Wildborn girl remained a bit of an enigma, however. While another ‘older brother’ would work to keep her out of trouble, there remained a clear disconnect between her and the others. If Ukemin had time, perhaps she would figure out a way to bridge that gap.

For now, though?

She had to get these buffoons to actually eat breakfast…

“QUACK! QUACK! QUAAAAA-”

…and why was Mafuno choking out a duck?

It took a bit of pantomiming and a lot of patience (she will return the favor to Mercurius one day), but Ukemin finally managed to crack the message the strangely intelligent but also hopelessly illiterate duck was sent to convey. There was something that Mercurius had that could lead the corrupted horde to emerge, functionally allowing them to decide where exactly to engage them…which was stupendous! That had been her main concern, after all. Against monstrosities with psionic capabilities and the ability to so effortlessly tunnel through the earth, it was practically impossible to set up any fortifications to handle them, even as her blessings consecrated and safeguarded territories. If they could guide the creatures’ emergence, however, that changed everything!

That also meant, then, that it was about time for her to finally do it.

“Who wants to ride the bike?”

The Tolarians were more confused than anything else, but Kume practically kneecapped Kani before the older man could pull his bodyguard schtick again, his hand shooting up with the eagerness of someone who had been waiting for this opportunity ever since the steel steed had entered his range of sight. Ukemin looked at him for a moment, weighing the pros and cons of letting a ‘kid’ join her, but from that particular perspective, she supposed that the ‘kid’ was tougher than the grown adults over on one side of the room. And she was going to be with him! What would go wrong?

“Everything, Ukemin,” LOCK spoke up, mechanical voice as rational as ever. “The undead become. Active during the dark. We possess no weapons. Beyond the knife.”

“Doesn’t matter,
” she sang, shooting finger guns at it. “Bike’s got guns!”

“Still too reckless.”
Kani shook out his bruised leg. “Kume’s just a c-”

“I’m just as good as you, but without your idol complex,”
Kume snapped.

“If Ukemin’s going to risk her life, she should do so with someone willing to risk their’s for her’s!”

Nakaya cut through. “No one needs to do any life-risking. The paladin has been pruning the zombies’ numbers, and they cannot catch up to the bike anyhow.”

“But. Consider. Driving through the dark. Through the unknown. That too, is danger.”

The Wildborn woman raised a brow, matching LOCK’s peerless counterargument with a small smile. And thus, the debate began, the two trading monologues while leaving no room for any others to interject. Off on the side, Thestern slide to where Mafuno was perched, the pale-skinned man shooting a benign smile at her. “So,” he said, “what’s a ‘bike’?”

There was only a dead-eyed stare in return, one blacker than the eclipsing night, one deeper than the corrupted volcano.

He forced a smile. “Yes. Right, wonderful answer, little girl!”

And of course, Ukemin and Kume had slipped out of the room a while ago, leaving the others but a single note filled with instructions before the two revved up the engine of the Duustas Terrain Bike and fired off into the night.

The steel beast had awoken, and it was time to ride.

Order Action: Ukemin and Kume [Wildborn] scout out the cell atop the Duustas Terrain Bike, using Ukemin's divine comprehension of the terrain (+ her personal Artist blessing if it applies), as well as Kume's focus on more methodical, detail-orientated work to search for advantageous terrain to encourage the corrupted horde to burst out of. They are particularly focused on finding ravines and valleys south of the mountain. The three remaining Wildborn, along with two Tolarian Recruits, are tasked with tilling the earth near the base of the mountain, creating a field and planting the Deathcap seeds. As the Deathcaps grow, the focus is on producing more, rather than harvesting them immediately, with the ultimate intent of being able to convert it into a large harvest of medicinal fungi later.

Meanwhile, LOCK [Kameraz of Peace] and four Tolarian Recruits, alongside Hagustus's army, will work to salvage the vehicles and siege weaponry of the dwarves. LOCK will lead efforts to fix up the siege weaponry, and will cannibalize other vehicles if necessary. The primary priority is on siege weapons that can offload wide-spread attacks, as opposed to trebuchets. The secondary priority is on large vehicles well-suited for transporting large amounts of troops.

Klein Moretti, the Fool
1654754227104.png

Movement 1: Move 8 tiles towards Giant Ville, and spend 1 energy to move an additional tile to reach Giant Ville.

Free Actions: Klein trains in Divination, Lord Fro trains in Pyromancy. Passive research into Enchanting. Scout Giant Ville.

Order 1: Loot the Resource Cache(While disabling the traps) and upgrade his umbrella(if Research of the Material from the Giant Town yields results)
Klein looked at the town and was seized with exhilaration and at the same time some fear. Whatever is in this town is definitely dangerous, but that's what makes this exploration exciting. He wonders what he will find in the town, would it be the corruption? Maybe the crazy eldritch horror is already waiting for him inside. He will have to go and see. Luckily, he has his trusty friend - Khamsin, by his side.

He then moved with his party to explore the resource cache, disabling any possible traps, and then looting it.

Afterward, he will then begin researching the material that was picked up from the town, specifically on the special energy that's warding off the gamma rays. If possible, he will imbue that special energy into his Umbrella and upgrade the artifact, making it so that anyone under the umbrella will be protected from radiation. This should be able to effectively ward off the gamma rays and boost the stealth abilities of his Umbrella. If there are useful resources that could aid in the upgrade of the umbrella, he would also use them.

If needed, assistance from the Princes will be called. Klein knows Maureen is a skilled blacksmith and perhaps he can aid in the upgrade. Maybe the book of enchanting would also be of use.
Order 2: Klein enchants his Monocle with Smoke Sense.

SHADOW ANDROID
The Ultimate Battle Life Form

Items
Decayed Chaos Crystal: 100 Shards [Crystal, Legendary, Quality: 250] This crystal is not what it was. The corruption has taken away most of its power. But, there is still a little left. What remains of its power gives Shadow Android a significant boost. Whenever he uses his chaos blast ability, his allies around him gains Minor Chaos that grant them either positive or negative chaos energy (pick one). With positive energy, allies project a shield that pushes Medium or smaller creatures away by 25ft. With negative energy, allies throw a spear that deals 2d6 chaos damage and destroys terrain underneath where lands, creating 10ft craters.
Basic Clothes
1 Steel Knife
[Melee Weapon, Quality 10].
A set of improved hand-held tools: Increases gathering rates by 2 units.
Resources
1 unit of Steel Ingots
3 units of Copper Ingots
5 units of Copper Ore
7 units of Iron Ore
1 unit of Cobalt Ore

Units
(x2) Hedgehogoid Robot [Hedgehogoid - Acumen/Glamour - Unit Value 5] These drones are of an unique design. Something that Eggman made. Some modifications of course. These are mechanical units that require electricity. But they work much faster than most other machines. This unit gathers an additional unit of resources when gathering as part of a order action. It also gains an additional 5 defence due to speed and has a natural thorns.
Structures
6ft Barrier Wall [Level 1, 50 shards]
Mechanics
2 stacks of Authority

Some may of considered it an ill omen but Shadow Android, with his arms crossed in front of him, stared up at the eclipse with total apathy. Coinciding with the phenomena, he had noticed a change in the horde that surrounded the volcano. The zombies seemed to carry themselves with renewed vigour but the black and yellow hedgehog felt safe behind the crude walls, built from the waste rock stripped by his Hedgehogoids, that now surrounded his fiery abode.

His drones had made substantial progress over the week, digging up the the volcano to reveal the valuable metals that lay underneath the surface. These materials were crucial for Shadow Android's plans of conquest but the Hedgehogoid's activities had another unforeseen outcome inside the volcano itself. A large metal door, adorned with the image of a giant wielding a sword of fire, had been uncovered. The illustration's meaning eluded the ultimate battle life form, the things it was possibly trying to convey were myriad but in the end it didn't really matter to the android. The flaming sword it depicted was what caught his attention the most. His steel knife had been woefully unfit for purpose to begin with and with the undead seemingly only growing in strength, Shadow Android was in urgent need of a better weapon. If there was any chance he might find something like that here, he would take it without hesitation. The black and yellow hedgehog ordered his Hedgehogoids to gather up materials and begin constructing a forge before disappearing behind the large metal door...

Actions/Orders
Free Actions
1. Explore
what lies beyond the large metal door inside the Volcano (Exploration).
2. Send Scout (Shadow Monitor) to investigate volcano's summit.

2. Hedgehogoids will begin building a forge(s) inside the volcano.

Ever since his meeting with Ukemin and the vial, Sigismund had been removed from the other two and their groups, nor did he spend much time around the soldiers that now occupied Winkhampton even if they seemed to be strangely happy to see him whenever he came around. It was peculiar as people were only happy to see Sigismund when they needed him to kill or die for them, perhaps they were on edge with the knowledge of the coming corrupted? Or maybe they had never been told. Sigismund had assumed Ukemin had told the general, so perhaps the general was keeping the knowledge hidden for now, no point in panicking the common soldier, no point in making their days stressful as they lay awake, dreading the horde that was to come. Personally, Sigismund would have preferred the horde arrive now. Not because he believed they were prepared, or had any advantage, but he did not like waiting. This counted as a 'Quest', and thus he was allowed to sleep in the same place more then once as he waited for the horde, but he could not stop the feeling of restless unease. There were people out there that needed help, there were people he could be saving, or at least, be on the way to. But instead, he was here. Doing nothing. Yes, he understood the purpose, yes, he agreed with the plan, yes, he knew they would need his help when they hordes come, but it did not make the days easier.

Perhaps boredom had a bit to do with it. He was used to traveling, to doing something at all times. But now? Now he just existed. Sigismund did not spend time with the soldiers, with the old man or Ukemin. He mostly kept to himself, sleeping outside of the volcano and going on small incursions into the wild to clear out the dead to feel like he was contributing something to the safety of the people nearby. He would need to clear out more especially with the Eclipse that hung above them. Light was in short supply, but his blade worked well enough, and the zombies seemed stronger and were more a threat to travels now then before. Still, the warring lights did not bode well. If the purple light was supposed to be the protector of this world, and the red was the corruption, well, it did not seem like there was much time left. Regardless of the light, or the implications of the waning light, he needed to do something. Something to make him feel like he was progressing, or at least, distract himself during the wait. Perhaps he could climb the volcano and explore it? Look for other entrances or signs of early scouts of the horde? It was unlikely he would find anything, would likely be a waste of his time, but perhaps he would find something.

Ragurilkug - The Town of the Hanging Harbor

  • As you approach Ragurilkug, you begin scanning the town and the surrounding fields for clues and oddities. Of course, among all the standards. Khamsin's sensors report a normal grassland - Rainforest biome with a tender 61 degrees F. While not hot enough for the greatest farming quality, it would suffice if nothing else could arranged. Rolls of mist flooded the land everyday from sea. So the landscape constantly fluxed in visibility, but the dead looked absent, with only aged corpses remind you that they exist. Your sensors picked up gamma radiation coming from the ocean, and as you know, are incredibly dangerous to life. The radiation seems focused on the town itself. Yet, the giants looked to be fine from the distance. Could it be a trick of some kind? Or a trap to lure you into death?

Elsewhere, you find a massive electrical signature that seems to lead east and you notice an anomaly that, judging from your experience, is a cloaking field. Why such advance technology is here, you haven't a clue. But, it is. And you fear that you may be walking to a trap. The field looked fairly large, like a military base sized. What defenses it has is unknown, though, it seems it wants to hide. Course, stepping inside the field would allow you to see clearly, but that would likely be suicidal, even for yourself judging from the size.

You pay attention to in front of you and notice what looks like to be a series of electrical traps and other devices that seem to be projecting something. Could have something happened in Ragurilkug? Your ocular sensors immediately picked up upon an intense shimmering effect that you could not understand. And as you looked further, you notice ancient corruption residue, the leftovers of long dead corruption and a massive primal energy signal commonly found with the beginning of universes. A battle perhaps? A corruption trap? An accident? Who knows for sure. However, something massive happened here and it left a bounty of resources, if one could survive the intense radiation being contained within.

Fasington, Volcano of Nosér

ERode ERode

  • You rode your bike across Fasington, looking for opportune terrain to use against the corruption. In a round about way, you found something quite amendable to defend against the inevitable horde. Winkhampton was connected to Fasington on one side of the corner only, meaning the right of the corner laid a deep trench that stretched all the way to the summit. It looked oddily artifical, but you couldn't see any other signs that it would be. Probably some rare movement of the earth. It would be perfect to hold the corruption, aside from the high ceiling. You fear the flying corruption could be incredibly dangerous with no ceiling at all to limit their flight. Maybe you could build traps that would crush large sections of them when they inevitably destroy the built roof?

You scanned along the walls, seeing claw marks leading to a point just in sight. And you felt the remains of a spatial tear. A portal to be precise. Maybe the corruption dug into the mountain here? If so, it could be easily to allow them to move through their own tunnel. Of course, you also could cause the horde to change plans and come to you almost immediately (in an hour or so) if they discovered the new path. But, it was defensible and would leave Winkhampton intact and relatively unharmed, which could be useful to the Goddess if she decided to command it.

If it looked oddly artificial, even without any signs indicating that it was, it probably was artificial. Ukemin was a deity herself, after all, and this was a world where gods actively interfered with the lives of their kin. Just as how Izanagi raised islands out of the sea and how Susanoo carved mountains with his storms, this trench, half-mile wide and slicing into the face of the volcano like an incision made by a surgeon’s scalpel, was the work of a supernatural being.

Or perhaps just corruption, judging by what else she sensed. Certainly, it was becoming more and more likely, from observation alone, that corruption spread through this Fractal at a rate much swifter than she had originally expected. Despite being nearly undetectable, signs of corrosion still emerged in the form of spatial tears that served as portals, indicating that they could easily be more widespread than initially suspected. Gasem mentioned a hive, after all. A hive that could freely teleport its spawn across the Fractal by ripping the fabric of space itself apart, and then stitching it to distant lands at will? A nightmare to deal with, considering how difficult it would otherwise be to handle.

Mm, yes. If she were such a creature, the first thing she’d do would be to systematically destroy roads, and then launch concentrated attacks at remote places, using that to amass greater and greater forces, then retreating before a meaningful counterattack could be established.

“A weird face you’re making, Ukemin,” Kume remarked, looking up from his sketched-out map of the trench they were surveying.

“Is it really?” Ukemin pushed her hands against her face, wishing dearly for a mirror. Tragically, with a fully-automated piloting system, the Duustas Terrain Bike didn’t actually come with any rear-view mirrors. “Was just thinking of some things, really.”

“Mm.”

“Not interested?”

Kume scoffed. “You’re not gonna let us fight anyhow.”

Well, what deity wanted their people to go to war? The blue-haired woman shrugged, then slapped a helmet over his head. “Think it’s time to head back anyhow, ne?”

He rolled his eyes, but what was he to do? For all the freedom to speak out, all the options Ukemin gave, all the memories he had, she was still the lynchpin of his existence, and his loyalty remained ever-binding.

With the rumbling of a deep-throated song seeping out from the terrain bike’s muffler, the two made their way back to Winkhampton.

Firelight illuminated the interior of the hastily-constructed strategy room, where various maps and documents had been pinned to the walls by hammer and nail. The campaign’s original intent had been the conquest of Winkhampton and little else, meaning that only the broadest strokes were taken to create a general layout of the map, while the logistics reports that had been transferred around the table were disheartening in the way that only an army that had been culled to half its size could be. There were more arms and armors than there were people to wield them, and medicinal supplies were similarly dropping low. In the center of the wall was a sketch of the general dimensions and form of the trench that was central to their strategy.

General Hagustus, of course, sat at the head of…the circular table. Sigismund and Mercurius, after an amount of effort that felt like pulling out their teeth, were also present, having previously shared their unique capabilities. It was obvious before that the paladin would be the spearhead of any offensive or counterattacks they helmed, but even beyond that, his ability to fly would prove instrumental to handling the bomb birds that would be the biggest threat to the army. Mercurius meanwhile, was probably able to use the bow he had, and regardless, it was his purifiers they were going to use to set the battlefield in their favour.

And naturally, Ukemin had taken the task of piecing together a strategy that required as little melee brawling as possible. Standing by the terrain map, with a sharpened stick as her pointer, the goddess evoked an image more like a schoolteacher or a middle manager rather than some masterful tactician. Made sense, of course. She had neither the experience nor the talent for this sort of stuff, and the scheme she cobbled together was much too reliant on individual capability to be the work of a true commander. But while she didn’t have any qualifications, Ukemin did have the absolute confidence to pretend she did.

After all, her own children weren’t going to be at the frontlines of this.

“Alright, so, thanks for coming along, and please keep your thoughts to yourself until the end~” she began, thwacking the pointer against the base of the trench. “The strategy itself is simple, more or less, but will depend pretty heavily on Sigi being able to kick ass, the corruption horde being not too smart, and the bombardments being effective as a way to take down the corrupted. So buckle up, cowboys, cause this is gonna be a rocky one.”

The pointer made a couple circles around a sketch of her dirt bike and Mercurius’s purifiers. “The first stage of the plan is for baiting. The old man over there is almost certain that the horde will focus largely on destroying these artifacts of his, due to their consecrating effect. To encourage them to go along with our plan then, we will lash these purifiers onto this steel steed, and simply leverage its superior mobility to outpace the horde itself.” Ukemin moved it then to what looked like a bomb with wings. “These, however, would still pose a threat to the steed, so while we bait them in, it would be best if we established a convoy of steam vehicles, filled with archers, to snipe down these birds before they could divebomb and explode. Sigi will serve as the rear guard here, and Mercurius will serve as the general leader of what shall now be known as the Mounted Archer Brigade. I, of course, will be riding the steel steed.”

A smirk.

“Because it’s mine.”

Kani, alongside other adjutants in the back of the room, sighed at his goddess’s self-destructive predilections. She died once and seemed to have lost all fear of it. Crazy singer lass, that gal was.

Ukemin, of course, didn’t note that at all, and instead, was now trailing her pointer up the trench. “The Mounted Archer Brigade will lead the horde up the mountain slope, exhausting their footsoldiers…assuming they can be exhausted, at least. After we reach this point here, Sigi, we’ll let you do your thing and turn into the sun. Though I do not expect this to stall the majority of the horde, so long as we cause the front to flinch, that would be enough to cause chaos. From here, our artillery batteries can make their presence known and begin bombarding them, while the Mounted Archer Brigade make it up to the top to swap off with the Ledge-Scraping Mobile Infantry Brigade.”

Did that make sense? She screwed up her face slightly, wondering if she had just blasted out a word salad. Hopefully it does.

“While chaos foments, I will activate my own…miraculous spells, one to create an inviolable domain to prevent the horde from retreating backwards, and another to create a protective barrier to shield our Corruption Horde Bombardment Batteries from counter attacks. And a third, if my schemes go as planned, will be able to open up a hole deep enough into the volcano to access its magma chamber and fill the trench with lava, which will be our main method of wiping out the horde.”

Which similarly means that if it turned out the horde was immune to fire, they were all sorts of fucked. And, of course, the mimics were the greatest unknown.

“Once we reach this ‘Extermination’ phase, Sigismund and the veteran soldiers will fight at the vanguard to prevent any of the horde from breaching past the lava-spewing hole, Mercurious and the archers will focus on sniping down Bomb Birds that make it past the bombardments, and the revered Ukemin will coordinate the entire operation with the power of music, especially if things go super wrong and communications need to be instant!”

She placed her hands on her hips, about ready to conclude this whole strategy spiel, when she remembered. Right, shit, Hagustus needed something to do if he wanted to feel important too. Which meant…

“And, last but certainly not least, the great General Hagustus will be in charge of the Corruption Horde Bombardment Batteries! We'll start the operation as soon as possible. Thanks for coming to my TED talk, y’all!”

Ukemin snapped her fingers.

“Now, questions? Concerns? Amendments?”

Free Action: Ukemin blesses a unit of Food. Ukemin also takes the chance to passively train her Performance [Athletics] skill as a way to destress from all the bullshit that surrounds her. Naturally, as a fan of radio calisthenics, she drags the rest of her units to participate in this activity with her.

Order Action: Ukemin brainmuscles her way into some sort of strategy to handle the horde, inadvertently training her Tactics skills. Meanwhile, the 4 Wildborn continue to work on the Deathcap farm, for purposes of proliferation, and the six Tolarians are sent off to salvage weapons and armor from the previous siege, focusing primarily on ranged weaponry. LOCK continues to manage the reconstruction of siege weapons and steam-vehicles, but also sends off 1/4th of the working force to go harvest Wood, collecting the food that comes with chopping down trees, and then converting that Wood into Charcoal, to make more efficient fuels for the steam engines.

Movement Action: When the siege weapons are good to go, they will be gradually moved up the side of the mountain, while the transportation vehicles remain within Winkhampton.

Twist Twist

  • Order 1: Dog Training

Kal began again to train his faithful dogs to improve their tracking abilities as he moved towards the markings on the map. They seemed to correspond with Maura's message to him... What a strange coincidence or not? I wonder if that would have his reporter senses tingling again. But, returning to the dogs, they responded well to increased encouragement and praise. The makeshift backpacks were difficult to use at first, but with the successful training of last turn, the dogs managed to hold onto the backpacks well enough.

Kal's dogs now and for the future gain the Draft trait. This allows dogs to passive carry an additional 1 unit worth of material and allow them to pull a cart with 4 or more individuals without issue.

Order 2: Seeking Armor + Weapon Reforging

You followed the path laid out on the path, it was off the main road. So you decided to head towards the town in the distance (Gatford) to seek out a smith to improve your weapons before returning to the artifacts, which you know to be the objective thanks to Ukemin's discovery. So, you enter the city of tower builders with a library and other basic necessities. The guards few and the lord away on a supposed supply run. There were some grumbles about the town leadership, but the locals seemed too busy getting by to change anything about it. The ultimate tragedy was the lack of a blacksmith in Gatford. For there was one until Lord Fro executed him for thievery. Most people haven't figured out who he robbed, but the snake smith is no more. However, you were allowed in his house in Catforge where you found some useful supplies. However, the locals seemed to imply that taking anything would bring bad luck, but none of them would stop you if you tried. The smith has an heir off the island which you know was probably true at one time, but doubt that such exists now due to Fractalization. You attempt to trade wood for the supplies, and the locals gladly take it as their prospects for gathering such wood has mysteriously went into nothing. Wonder what happened there. You trade 3 wood and are able to collect some of the supplies exterior to the smith's home. You trade off 4 wood for the supplies and teach the surrounding townsfolk about wilderness survival and staying safe against many enemies.

    Precious Gems: (Singular Gems)

    • 2 Rubies
    • 1 Sapphire
    • 2 Amethysts
    Metals:
    • 1 unit of gold ingots
    • 1 unit of silver ingots
    • 1 unit of iron ingots
    Items:

Mysterious Jade Ring: Effects unknown, would require some experimentation.

A wooden sword: Repulses from anything that is not what it appears to be.

As you wander through town looking for others skilled in smithing, the wooden sword constantly repulses away from rocks, chests, hats, what have you. And you swear that these items are moving when you're not looking. If only you had your senses back to determine more, but it did give pause to staying in Gatford. Was this harmless or a sign for something soon to come. As there was HUNDREDS of these suspicious items. (You will be able to pick up the trail of the youth once you leave.)

    Decision:
    1. Stay in Gatford?
    2. Leave and travel two cells down the road?
    3. Something else?

Misuteeku Misuteeku

Order 1 & 2:

You place an additional purifier on Fasington, increasing the speed of the purification of Fasington. You cleanse 14% of the corruption this turn leading Fasington to be 54% clean. Good Progress in short time, but you placed the second purifier almost haphazardly, like it didn't matter. To Mercurius' surprise, the purifiers seem to do different things based on how they are placed against one another. You decided to place the second purifier above the first; this inadvertently created a mist sprayer that coated the walls of the shrine in a watery coat. You could feel better and any minor cuts you have while working on making the purifier, seem to have healed over some time. As you look around, the cracks of the walls disappeared and the shrine began to shine. However, you notice that the purifiers become ingrained in the earth. You won't be able to move them, until you can find a way to release them.

Placing two purifiers in a vertical line (Stacked on top of one another) allow a room of reasonable size to make a healing area, allowing those inside to heal 1 wound per turn and 1d4 hitpoints without costing medical supplies. It also repairs the structure built around it. Structure Health works on a hit system as with vehicles. Generally, explosives will be the main method for taking hits, but some structures made of fragile materials or certain circumstances may incur hits from other sources. Purifiers made in a two point vertical line also restore 1 hit for the structure that houses it each turn.

Many of the soldiers have noticed the healing properties and have asked to stay around to heal. Would you allow them? They don't seem to have proper uniforms or a CO nearby. You notice them wince as they approach the purifiers. However, the shimmer of fractal problems are around them as you've noticed over the weeks. It is also strange since none of them have approached you until now. Could this be a trick? You've heard of moving chests and other items throughout the hold. Maybe Ukemin would know something about that.

Now that you think about it, you remember a strange piece of paper that kept following you around. It looked to be outside the purifier room, laying "dormant". Were you being watched?

Salvage:

You wander around Winkhampton, looking for supplies to aid you in future endeavors and the approaching horde. While General Hagustus had cleaned up mostly everything and Ukemin, the remains of that, you were still able to find some scraps among the hold. Mainly a quality 50 Iron Longsword that lit up in the dark, allowing you to see easier as the eclipse only the supported the dark lighting of the hold.

Enlightened Iron Longsword, Quality: 50, Common: A sword that lights up in the dark. Deals 3d4 slashing damage. Increased melee reach of 5ft

Unrest Reduction: Reduced Unrest by 3. (21 so far if I remember correctly) [You can take a more active approach to reduce unrest to speed things up.] Gain 1 Stack (1/20 for Next) Unrest in Winkhampton is around 20.

Decision Point:
  1. Would you allow the soldiers to rest near the purifiers? (Credits, unrest reductions which would count towards serenity, etc.)
  2. Would you shoo them away? (Fear of what they could be harboring, etc.)
  3. Something Else?

He went further and further. How long had it been by now? Long. So long that everything was consumed. Not a single provision remained, and his body slowly but steadily came closer to a complete collapse. Soon he'd have to rest and gather food anew. Maybe these trees could help? There were going to be more of them, wherever he ended up at, right? Or would he have to stop already? The chances of finding any kind of permanent housing spot, be it a village or similar, were miniscule? Unpredictable? Or something in between. They weren't clear, making this whole endeavour of continuing a foolishly risky one. He still could turn back if he'd found nothing, probably.

Thankfully, these thoughts would turn out to be unnecessary worry. And not only that, his luck was great today. An abandoned cove, perfect to settle in, easy to defend, with purple light shining upon it. Wait. He was getting ahead of himself. Why had he assumed it was abandoned? His book-reading experience was getting the better of him. And it still was, despite it quite possibly being infected with any kind of creature, he did not feel any kind of eeriness, fear, or worry. As if, he was still deep down certain, this cove was abandoned and here for the taking for whomever may or may not stumble upon it. But there was no guarantee for that. Only his knowledge served as evidence, which was not necessarily…. applicable, in this case. Making the evidence or whatever one may call what he relied upon to make this judgement, subconsciously, highly dubious.

And on top of that, how was it even possible to find such a place untouched by all the decay and destruction this realm had suffered so far? But then again, why shouldn't there be placed such as this one? It was impossible to decide, which made more sense, he simply lacked knowledge, experience, and time to determine, what was typical for this realm. It didn't even matter, he had to find a place to settle down for a bit of time. Wandering constantly couldn't be sustained by his body, not yet at least. Yet he was still here arguing about it with himself and exhausting himself even further.

But no more! He had already drifted away enough from his original thoughts. And so, he took forward his first few steps towards a potential home or his impending doom. Maybe both? Only time would and could tell.

Order 1 & 2: Farming/Tilling Soil for Deathcap Production & Salvage for Machines and Vehicles & Wood Gathering

You found a nice fertile spot to begin tilling and preparing the soil for cultivation. With the dead to a bare minimum and everything relatively calm, preparing the soil for cultivation was a simple task. After collecting some supplies from the hold, the wildborn and recruits went to work on toiling in the fields to prepare. Clearing out the bodies, the excess material not needed, snow and ice; a lot needed to be cleared. But, after some work, it was completed. Then after, you spread the seeds carefully and give some warm water to give it a soak.

You create a Level 1 Deathcap Farm. It spans about a 10 foot by 10 foot area, using up the seeds you found. It looks to be promising, but could definitely be improved.

When a farm is started, it takes a certain amount of turns before it can start producing. Deathcaps look to grow quite quickly in this environment. After next turn and the start of the one after, you will start receiving 1 unit of Deathcap seeds and 1 Unit of Deathcaps.
------------------------
You began to salvage the remains of equipment and other items in the hopes of developing siege machines for the coming horde. However, you quickly realize that the task is daunting to do due to the metal being worked with, along with the catastrophic damage done to them during the siege. Not to mention, Kume and Mafuno soon discover that the forges have been sabotaged during the siege when the Dwarves fled. Meaning that there was no currently working way to use to the metal to make any machines or fix the damaged ones. While damage looked to be superficial on a glance. You soon realized that almost all the vehicles somewhat capable of working again were dealt far more damage. It could happen, they could work again. But, you feared that it would not be possible in time. However, your people pressed forward and made some progress.

It was good progress all things considered which wouldn't be too much, but it would be faster with proper repair of the forges, if such skills could be procured. Maybe Lock could get them fixed again? If not, you may need someone of more skill to guide the process to fixing them.
------------------------
After salvaging, you gathered some wood from the surrounding trees, collecting some eggs as well as they fell. You successfully gather 2 units of wood and a unit of food from eggs during your end of day harvest.

Free Action: Food Blessing & Minor Cardio Training

One Unit of Food has been blessed (eggs)(0/2)

Endurance (1/50) for all units participating.

Units involved with work lose 3 energy from the many tasks of work done this turn. They will regain 2 at the beginning of next turn. However, if a suprise attack happens, they will suffer tiredness penalties due to no energy for non-enduring units if they fail the endurance roll at the start of combat.

Order 1: Loot Cache (+Disabling Threats) & Umbrella Repairs

You reach the outskirts of Ragurilkug as we discussed, finding the cache in the fields in the safety of the fields around Ragurilkug. You examine the cache carefully. It either looked like a terrible trap or a drop of supplies by someone fleeing. You carefully dispatch some rudimentary bear traps and other simple snares. Nothing that would cause much problems, but it never hurts to avoid them. Now, this cache was impressively volumous. As you scanned its contents, you discover that there appears to be strange runes all over it. Nothing that was in any magical book you've seen so far. Jon scanned a couple of them off-handily as Maureen seemingly disappeared from view. Sho and Saun mentioned he'd been gone for an hour or so. Sho looked somewhat concerned while Saun yawned at the idea of worrying about Maureen. Jon didn't recognize any of them, even after looking at a dictionary of sorts for runes across all cultures. Not Elvish, Human, Dwarf, Fairy. Nada, nothing. Not Giant either strangely.

Though, Klein got some drawings of the examples. These runes looked otherworldly, nothing like the garden variety that Jon was leafing through. And as Klein looked at the runes up close, they glowed purple then navy before disappearing entirely. Strange. At least, it doesn't look to be made by Corrupted, but still ominous hmm? Of course, Maureen is missing. Maybe he has something to do with this? You look around for him until you realize that both middle twins, Targen and Agni are gone as well. Jon waves his hand and points at the suddenly grassless earth.

"He's just talking with them underground. Probably working through family issues."

Yet, it seemed weird. What was Maureen playing at?

Resource List:
  1. 30 units of wood
  2. 10 units of granite
  3. 5 units of gold ingots
  4. 7 units of iron ingots
  5. 3 sets of improved hand-held tools
  6. 5 units of marble (Beauty ++)
  7. 4 Units of Leather (Very Valuable)
  8. 5 units of Quartz
  9. 2 units of cloth
  10. Tanning Rack
  11. 3 Wooden Carts
  12. A primitive Forge tucked away under some cloth tarps
Passive Food Gathering: From the berries and local plants found all around the grassland, Klein and his minions successfully gather 3 units of food from the nearby environment.

Order 1: Resource Gathering for the Forge

You order your drones to begin collecting wood and waste rock to build forges for the advancement of your empire. A small skip towards power, but a necessary one nevertheless. With the new tools, your drones have harvested more than they did so before, improving on their yields. They happen to chop from particularly strong breed of tree that their sensors identified some adapted Schinopsis brasiliensis, more commonly known on Earth as barauna. This sub-species seems to have icy, scaly bark from the sudden weather change much before you arrived. A cleverly strong wood and much more malleable than normal. A useful find indeed. Of course, you're drones have a knack for detail, so you're not too surprised they found it after all.

You chop down Barauna Ice Wood (or Ice wood for short), gaining 9 units of Ice Wood. You also gather 2 units of normal wood for fires as Ice wood is terrible for that (as I will explain). Finally, from wood expedition, you gain 2 units of Ice wood seeds for you to grow if you deem it fitting to farm.

Ice wood carries the unique property of being able to cool down and manage temperatures of substances. Ice wood hilts, etc. on weapons confer an additional 1d4 cold damage to weapon attacks. It also allows you to cool down air down to freezing temperatures as long as 4 units are used in the construction of freezers etc. It also is just about inflammable despite its wood nature, making it usable in forges or other constructions that use fire. Ice wood would reduce the amount of heat affecting the construction, improving outcomes and reducing critical errors. It allows you to burn hotter flames in forges not normally made to do so. Improves crafting outcomes for forged weapons / weapons needing fire/heat to be forged by 5. Also reduces failure/complication chance by 5.

For waste rock, you collect 8 units of it for use in building forges. A good amount for the task involved.

Order 2: Building the Forge in the Volcano

After collecting some firewood, waste rock, and Ice wood, your drones began construction on the forge inside of Fasington. With the collected materials and the attention to detail of your drones, you were able to make two forges over one that use a central heat source.

You build a Double Forge; a structure that allows you process ores at twice the rate of a usual forge. (A typical forge processes 1 unit of ore per turn.) They also were successful in using the pipes along the tunnel wall as salvage to build an anvil to beat out metal into shape. Some left over waste rock from the consumed units were made into casts for various weapons and tools.

Consumed: Ice Wood: 2, Wood: 1

You may being to process ores next turn as a passive.

Double Forge Level 2 [Anvil Attachment]: A forge with an anvil that will allow you to make weapons and tools. Processes 2 ores per turn. Allows for the crafting of metal weapons.

Scout:

You take a swift scan of the summit, investigating for any resources or threats. In the mist of volcanic gases and intense heat, you discover a flat disk hovering above the flowing lava. Your sensors seem to pick up signs of ores atop the solid and stable parts of the summit. Rock and molten lava spewed out of Fasington, molding around the disk like some sort of shield. You noticed a large energy signature coming up from the volcano's core. Even with the extreme heat, your sensors and the strength of the energy allowed you to see it flow up into the disk. You were not quite sure what the disk's function was, but you had a distinct feeling it was performing some intensive work, requiring a great deal of information. Computational or otherwise. The sounds seemed to carry a pattern, like it was some sort of line of commands. Maybe it was receiving commands? Maybe it was reciting them? Maybe, but it depends if this assumption is true or not. But, it being somewhat far from you, it is hard to say.

The summit looks to be too dangerous to settle on, but the view of the island gave you and your electronic eyes a better understanding. The northeast was covered in black and red ooze to varying degrees. Like a web of some sort that glowed just enough for you to see. Wonder what that is about.

Order 1: Skill Cementation

Gasem looked over his mental notes and his test bandages. It all started to become second nature to him as he continued to practice bandaging on bodies and trees on his way down into the cove. He started to piece together how his book knowledge could be translated into actual practical knowledge, but only just. It was a long road, but he had started on that journey. Not many do. He began to practice remaining calm, placing the bandages in the same pouch, remember important tips by reciting, and among other small things. Gasem was only at the start of his journey, in humble beginnings, but building good habits now will only help him.

Medical 1 Cemented, 1 more skill cementation to Prowess 3.

Order 2: Begin Construction on Library if conditions are good.

The first major portion of the cove is covered in seaweed, shells, and sand. Not the best place to build, but plenty of fodder material for Orbi to suck up and use. Energy in the air is nice, but an obviously easy to deform matter won't hinder it at all. Wonder if Orbi's matter features could be expanded to help with various other tasks. But, it is just a thought of what could be. It would be up to Gasem if this path would be useful. However, while Orbi constructs in the cove, they will slowly clean up the beach which could be a useful asset down the road.

The library will take time to construct. Traditionally, a level 1 library would take two turns with the appropriate crew. Naturally, Orbi will take 4 turns, but Orbi will free Gasem to wander the cove for some additional exploration.

You will no longer need to declare construction for Orbi unlike for others. Orbi will now autonomously construct the library in the background. Simply help me keep track by counting the turns with your order actions. Once the library completes, you can begin to fill it with books and begin using your recruitment feature without declaring it as an order action but as a free action.

Event: Critical Survivors.

You find what looks like to be a camp, recently extinguished fire with arrows, swords, and shields scattered everywhere. Tents ripped apart with large claw marks, tracks leading further into the cove. However, you noticed a beast in the distance, still and lifeless. Likely bled out, or someone finished it off. Before you in the camp laid sixteen individuals, humans and young, maximum of twenty. And that was pushing it, even to you. Many of them bleeding and almost all at risk of death. You expect not to save them all, but you can always try. And that came to a choice... who to save? There laid before you multiple different "archetypes" of individuals. There were many that looked to have been slaughtered by the best all around you. Which would be the most valuable? Or maybe a sampling? Maybe you would get lucky and save them all. After all, you saw the previous medical practice as preparation for this. Was it destined? Coincidence? Dumb luck? Probably all three. It was up to Gasem. He could go for everyone, but there were no guarantees. There wasn't much time. Not a lot of time to look beyond the surface, and your eyes bought you a lot of those, but not enough for more than surface+. Select (in order to treat) from the descriptions below.

  • Jocky types, muscular and covered in what look to be scars. Seem to have clothes that indicate some sort of dangerous lifestyle. All guys from what you can tell.
  • Lanky, thinner with a lot of dirt on the arms and body. Tanned on the top of the arms, pale on the bottom side.
  • Pampered and fancy clothes, maybe some higher classed people?
  • Chains around the arms and legs, branding on the chest. Looks to be mostly guys.
Orbi's Research: (12/400) Foundations of Magic: Eureka! A wandering mote of magic has been analyzed by Orbi, increasing progress by an additional 6 this turn.

1. Send in one fire doggo into the giant’s village to continue communications with then, such as more common things like “how long have this been happening” and “what is happening to those outside?”, as well as Study and collect materials gathered from the Giant village and see whether or not it can be integrated into his armor to provide protection from the gamma rays.

Together, you, Maureen, and Jon crafted and sent out messages to the giants trapped in town. Your drones attempted to inspect and monitor the reactions of the giants for clues. However, they seem helpless to communicate back to you as they seem unwilling to leave their homes. But, one house managed to pass a stone tablet to you through a portal mail system. Your pupper friend was able to snatch it up the tablet and carry it back to you.

You soon learn from Jon's translations that the townsfolk know little, but they know some details.
  1. Some sort of demonic, thing was here and was killed using some heavenly beam. It caused the air to become poison and the townsfolk were told to stay in their homes as they were blessed to protect them from the poison.
  2. Many of the townsfolk believe that their kin outside were reanimated by spirits of the demon's making. Though, they can't provide a lot on why they believe this. Mainly speculation. Regardless, the demon spirits posses the ones outside, but they are too damaged to do anything or be a threat. One of the giants claim that
Afterwards, you decided to investigate the material with Klein Kent Kent . What you discover with the help of Klein's resources, that the materials of the houses were enchanted to protect them from the harmful rays of the gamma radiation. It could be replicated with a proper enchanter. At this moment, you notice a duck approach on the scene, it looked to be perfectly normal. It comes in on a battle cry of: Call. Maureen practically ran to it, calmly gave it some pets before snuggling with it. For the rest of the week, he cared for it, and practically never left its side. The duck seemed happy with the arrangement. Agni calmly cleaned it by using his aeromancy to blow out the snow and dust over it. Targen had somehow found alcohol and was currently wasted in Maureen's foxhole. Jon and Sho looked annoyed while Saun laughed his ass off.

From what you could tell, you could study the material to learn a useful enchantment. However, they will take some time before that could be realized. What could be done with the stone and earthy materials would be to convince Maureen to bend it and use it as a shield to escort you in and out of town. Of course if you could trust him, and if the strange enchantment at no side effects, which seemed unlikely. As you discussed the enchantment and its properties, at least its physical ones, Maureen seemed to pipe up a lot about it. Flying by the seat of his pants, he seemed to know and not to know. But, he did give you an idea that it was divine in nature, and that it is something that will require divinity to a degree to replicate.

2. Send in the remaining fire doggos into the ancient corruption grounds in order to gather more materials that they could carry back, with a drone watching overhead in order to ensure they are safe as well as initiate the command to retreat if something bad happens.

You send the fire puppers into the fray to grab chunks. The chunks they grabbed seemed to be warped in some way. They look incredibly interesting, but also ominous. And as you take the full breath of the chunks, you hear a chorus in the distance and the chunks glow faintly with it. Maybe the demons are not demons, but corruption instead...

Collect 3 units of "Altered" Stone. A resource of incredible rarity. A resource that by its very nature could be incredibly useful with the right know how. Weaknesses, behaviors, etc. could be discovered, along with powerful methods to cleanse corruption and harden oneself against it. But, it seems incredibly violate if pressed these ways.

The campfire slowly crackled, releasing a constant low hum and chirps of happy birthdays, the original 'quirk' of this reality had been distracting at first, but as the weeks gone by, at some point, Sigismund had stopped noticing it. It had simply blended into the background, as common as the night sky even with its odd coloring of purples and reds. At his side were his numerous small bags that often hung around his waste, a few lay open showing their contents of dried meats and vegetables, food he had taken from the destroyed village when he first arrived and faced the angel of death. It seemed bizarre how much had happened, but his mood had markedly improved from the week before. He felt he had nothing to do but wait, to sit on his heels waiting for the foe to come to him when Sigismund was far more inclined to take the fight to them, but there was nothing for it. The chains had to be purified and this was the only way, however, his journey to the volcano top had been most revealing.

Even now the amulet sat against his chest, the small chain wrapped snuggly around his neck. It almost pulsed warmth through his body and he could feel himself thrumming with raw power. The amulet was a sign, it had to be. A sign that he was on the right path, that he was doing the right thing, that no matter where he was, in this vast existence that escaped his understanding, the Lady was with him. Of course, there was the possibility that it was coincidence, or it came from someone else, but he always dismissed those thoughts. Doubts were the clutch of the lost, the explanation for why they did not do what they knew they must. He had received an item that would greatly aid him, that would only be of us to someone like him, exactly when he needed it most... Before a great battle against corruption and outside the lair of some horrible beast with a ghastly roar.

The quest, and his purpose, was clear, he was to scale the mountain and bring down the beast and then help the men of Winkhampton fight off the hordes of corrupted. There was a chance he could fall to the beast, that the soldiers of Winkhampton would have to fight alone, but such was the risk. The call to action could not be ignored, the beast of the volcano could not be ignored, he would fight and he would triumph, or he would fight and he would fall. His fate lay, as always, in the hands of the Lady.

7 units of Ice Wood
1 unit of Wood

Double Forge Level 2 [Anvil Attachment]: A forge with an anvil that will allow you to make weapons and tools. Processes 2 ores per turn. Allows for the crafting of metal weapons.
Mechanics
2 stacks of Authority

Shadow Android's first foray into the expansive dungeon that lay inside the volcano had been a success. Encountering a towering golem, he had managed to subdue it with relative ease. The thought had crossed his mind upon seeing it that it could of been the giant depicted on the door but, during their brief scuffle, it had not presented any sort of weapon to fend him off so he tossed the idea to one side. The ultimate battle life form had reduced the golem to little more than a head and torso and could have dispatched it right there and then but he stayed his hand. The construct had some strange and vexing effect on his sensors that could warrant further examination. It could be useful to learn some way to counteract it, should he encounter more of these golems inside the catacomb, or potentially even replicate it for his own ends. There was also the fact that the golem was the closest thing to a machine he had encountered in Nosér so if he could study it and figure out what made it tick it could lead to some exciting new insights for the fledging Shadow Empire.

Shadow Android had wished to continue exploring the catacombs and uncover more of its secrets but the flames of avarice were swiftly doused by machine like reason and cold hard logic. After all, he did not know how vast its depths were and it would do him little good to plunder the maze only to find that he lacked the strength to return with the spoils. If he really wanted to explore it further, then he should devote his efforts to finding a viable and long term source of energy for he and his forces first. From what he had observed, no one had stepped a foot inside that place for a very long time so there was no need to rush things. It just meant that if he wanted a better weapon then, for the time being, he would just have to make one. The mechanical mammal ordered his Hedehogoids to begin crafting him a weapon using the newly constructed forge while he turned his attention to the strange blue ore they had discovered in the hopes that it may hold a solution to the Shadow Empire's power predicament.

  • Now the rest was up to coincidence, luck, maybe faith. Though one may argue, that there had to be a plethora of all three things already present, for him to even have stumbled upon these souls on the brink of death. Whether it was their luck or his, or even to both of them, remained to be seen. After all, he did stumble upon an opportunity to actually test what he had learned just recently.

There was rarely anything as good as real practice, and he very much felt so, even more strongly while treating the wounded. Initially, he was hesitant, questioning his own abilities, but sadly, he was not only the sole conscious person present with medical knowledge, but the sole person conscious at all. If he decided to do nothing, the group, made up of people of varying caste, according to their attire and stature, was doomed. His interference could only realistically improve their situation, as such there was nothing to lose, even if he failed completely. He could find comfort within the certainty of their doom being inevitable anyway. And as cold as these thoughts seemed to even himself, they ultimately convinced him of helping; possibly saving lives.

And to make certain that his treatment would be not for naught, would not save their lives only temporarily, he had to change this damned environment itself. Treatment was possible within it, but recovery? No! Even the simplest of tents, would aid in the chances. And luckily, this fractal had a very useful property, that would help in the construction of one such tent, as well as aid him in overcoming another predicament that would soon arise for himself and the wounded. Food. He didn't have enough. Nothing to be exact. But cutting down a few trees would surely solve that problem, or at least alleviate it.

Klein Moretti

Order 1: Repair the Quill
"You like to play Hide and Seek, Mr. Gzor?" Klein smiled as he was playing with the Quill in his hands. He was starting to flood it with his Mote of Creation, scanning thoroughly inch by inch for a remnant of Gzor's existence. "I like to play games too! How fun! But I'm in kinda a hurry right now so I need you to show up. You don't expect me to believe that the item you made to be your refuge failed to protect a strand of your existence, right? We're the same person, there's no need to bother tricking me. Why don't we have a talk? or else..."

Klein extended his hands and made the quill almost touch the radiation of gamma rays. Due to the distance, the quill was repulsing as if it was kinda hurt. "hehehehe....But if you decide to be civil and talk... well, I can repair you. That's a good offer, isn't it? Although the item is good, I'd rather not carry a timed bomb with me."

[Depending on how this goes, I will repair the quill in the primitive forge.]
Order 2: TBD

"Haw! Haw!" shouted Kal El from his cart "Easy Wolf!"

Speeding down the road on his canine pulled cart, he could not help but feel dismayed by the quickly cascading events that seemed to threaten this sleepy realm. Uneasy about the situation in Gatford, but unwilling to leave the citizens of Wikhampton to their fate, Superman had left his Kameraz behind in Gatford. Without his senses, Kal El could not be sure but something had certainly seemed off in the suspicious settlement but without real facts he could not let himself stay within Gatford, not with the imminent danger his father had warned him of now looming over Wikhampton. But Superman was not about to leave them without a means of help.

As he had done for his best pal, Jimmy, many years ago, he would build for them a means of communication. A signal. While for the often misadventuring reporter it had been in the form of a watch, for the people of Gatford it would be something bigger as without his keen charged Kryptonian hearing there was little chance he would be able to hear it. Luckily Kal El had the next best thing.

Man's best friend.

"On by Shelby!" On by Clarky!" called Clark, as the pack passed a migrating duck.

With a dog's hearing far more acute than any human, or Kryptonian in this case, the baton would fall to them to pick up any trouble and alert him. And so he had instructed Kelex of his Kameraz, so named by his likening to his robotic caretaker to begin building the signal device. Of course it wouldn't be like Jimmy's one, the materials far too rare even in his own world, but it would be similar.

"That's it Krypto! Show them the way! Hike! Hike!"

With an antenna forged of various metals to broadcast the signal and a moderate sized quartz crystal under severe mechanical stress encased within the device, to form piezoelectricity and it's inverse effect to make the sound waves, hopefully it would do the job. It was a crude and hurried process to be sure, but with time ticking away and no superpowers on which to rely on it was the best he could do for now. Nevertheless Superman held out hope for the construction. With the House of El's insignia crafted on to the signal device, the people would know that they had a protector on which to call upon.

For now though, it was Wikhampton that needed a champion. Racing across the roads, Superman braced himself for the coming battle.
