So, what's everyone's thoughts on sending out a few people to act as scouts and pathfinders? To find better ground to settle on, or néw hunting/gathering grounds, etc etc.

40 people in the tribe, npcs included.
He speaks the truth. Keep in mind, however, that this is women and children included. Most of these people are simple hunters & gatherers, with a few specialized people here and there. Gurgle, for example, has a following that takes care exclusively of religious stuff, working on rituals, sacrifices, and daily prayer.

The Taskmaster has his retainers too, which are basically archaic police lol.

I think I'm going to add a elderly storyteller to the tribe as my NPC. A repository of knowledge and a teacher for the childrenz.

TRIBE CREATION

A NAME
The Skintearers? The Fleshrenders? The Leeches? Let loose all your creativity.
A MOTIVE
What's the tribe all about? What keeps them fighting, what keeps them together? Survival? Being the richest? Becoming living gods? Whatever it is, it's a dream that everyone shares.
AN ENEMY
The tribe made an enemy. Someone or something wants you all dead. What is it? A rival tribe? A mythical beast? The Fleshscape itself?
A RESOURCE
There is something that is unique to this tribe. A resource that only they can produce, and that they possess in abundance. Something that differentiates them for the rest. Hallucinogenic fungi that don't grow naturally? Weapons that never break down? Impenetrable armour? The finest warriors of the land? Women?
BRING IT ALIVE
Now I just need each of you to come up with one NPC that will be part of the tribe. You don't need to make a sheet for them, even just a Name and Profession will work.

Copy pasting for convenience

Beast tamers are wusses, real men don't rely on animals and hide behind some lesser being's flesh.

Mnn, I happen to think beast rearing and farming are a very great way for a tribe to get food and even additional protection.

Lulz. The entire tribe is probably gonna step over Prizzy's malnourished jelly-like bones on their way to a brighter tomorrow.

I need to brainstorm for my npc
meanwhile I like the thought of the fleshscape consciously fighting against us, maybe even being the "final boss"
We could honestly use a chief gatherer or something akin to that. Or any crafting specialists, really. As far as I know we don't have any. So if nobody makes one, I'll swap something crafty out for the storyteller and relegate fireside storytelling/teaching to Gogmagug.

Well I guess it all depends on how you wanna play him. If you're fine with storytelling and stuff then sure I can make a gatherer, but if you wanna pass it on to an NPC then I can do something else.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is we don't need five guys who do the same thing.

Duly noted, I don't mind giving storyteller duty to Gog. Just making sure that we have most of our bases covered.

Storytelling is cool though, that'd make him like a wise man in the tribe, which is great anyway because Gurgle hates fire with a passion and he'd also hate someone who's cramping his style.

Sooo, Healer, Priest, Taskmaster, Executioner, Hunter, Fighter, Sage, and... I guess we could use a craftsman? Gathering may already be part of the hunter's work.

Maybe, I have no idea if Hunting and Gathering are both separate. But if they are, chief gatherer is a very necessary position to fill. Aside from that, a chief Pathfinder/Scout, a Lookout, and probably a Tanner/Leatherworker.

Well, hunter/gatherer is a pretty generic term and it makes sense that the person hunting is out, about, and gathering things as well. If someone wants to make a gatherer go for it, but there'd prolly be a lot of 1x1 with those two roles. A scout could be good, but that's also a pretty hunter-y role as well. Craftsman of some kind would be great, maybe a cook too.

Then again, it'd be really cool to have a scout person who actually scouted out underground a little bit as well.

That's something I'm really interested in as well. I'm super curious about what secrets and horrors lie below the Fleshscape.
