Yeah but my problem is there has to be some kind of bond by the end. Some kind of understanding. And it doesn't have to be romantic either (personally romantic is all to be decided still... It depends...) so I don't know where this endless teasing can go.

Oh easy. She teases and messes with him because he's a cat boy, right? So she doesn't really know anything about Laguz. It can be as simple as she starts teasing him, he plays along, teasing continues, and he offers to teach her about them. No need for romance
