FACTIONS
The Divide caused Terrunum to split into two factions. You've been hearing ALL about them in both the Lore section and the Gameplay Mechanics section. So in this section, we aren't gonna go too in depth with the many different reasons people join one faction or the other. You've already been exposed to lots of different ideas as to why someone would join the Alliance or the Legion, and frankly, you're capable of making one up yourself at this point.Instead, we're going to focus on the basics and the specific branch of each faction that your character is a part of or will be a part of. I urge you to read both the Alliance and the Legion regardless of whether or not you've chosen a side. If you don't read both, you have not finished reading this thread. This is a short section, and it is also the end of the Lore section. One you're done here, congratulations, you've finished a huge chunk of the RP, and you now understand the world of the game!
If you've already read the Gameplay Mechanics section, then once you're done here you're ready to make a character and can head over to Character Sign Up Sheet.
If you have not read the Gameplay Mechanics section, then head over to Basic Mechanics to learn exactly how to play Fire Emblem Divide.

Alliance of Fire
The Alliance of Fire believes that The Monolith should be destroyed immediately. They want to gather all of the Fire Spheres, launch an invasion on Patrium to retrieve the Crest of Power, immediately mount each Sphere into the Crest, and use the great power of the Fire Emblem to destroy The Monolith. The Fire Emblem is the most powerful magical weapon known to man, potentially created by Naga herself. It has the power to alter the world and reality itself. That makes it mankind's ace against The Monolith.
Yes, using the Fire Emblem will undoubtedly have grand effects on the environment. But these effects have been triumphed over in the past and they will be triumphed over in the future. While the Fire Emblem may have grown in power over the 10,000 years since its last use, so has mankind. The potential negative effects of the Fire Emblem do not outweigh the definitive negative effects of The Monolith. In the future, people will look to the Alliance as the present day peoples of Terrunum look to the ancients for destroying The Monolith before it could destroy the world.
The Legion would lead one to believe that The Monolith should be studied. They believe that The Monolith can surpass the power of the Fire Emblem, a weapon gifted to the people by Naga herself, the creator of all that is. They would rather wait and see the world ravaged by demons than take action against evil incarnate. They must be defeated, and the Spheres they foolishly guard must be stripped from their possession, for they do not possess the resolve to use them when they must! The Alliance will achieve their goals by any means necessary. If that means death to the Legion, then so be it.
13th Battalion
When The Divide occurred, Terrunum was split into two, and each of its kingdoms were split into two, including their official armies. This has lead to disarray in each kingdom's military. The old formations and battalions of Terrunum were far more organized with people of similar skill sets arranged into one squad. That is no longer the case. Anyone who can lift a sword or cast a spell or use a staff or change into a ferocious animal of some form is welcome to join the Alliance's army. Anyone who can fight will be allowed to fight for the fate of Terrunum. Nowadays, battalions are more diverse than ever with a variety of people with different sets of skills. The logic behind this new form of organization is that each Battalion will be ready for any challenge the opposing force presents them with. Your Alliance characters will be part of the 13th Battalion, a group that will be stationed in each kingdom of Terrunum during the war. Little do they know, their actions will come to decide the fate of Terrunum.. Here's an easter egg to prove you read the Lore section. Name one of your favorite bands.

Legion of Stone
The Legion of Stone believes that The Monolith should be understood before it is destroyed. They want to gather all the Fire Spheres, launch an invasion to wipe out all the demons, receive the Crest of Power, study The Monolith and the Fire Emblem, and if and only if there's no other way to destroy The Monolith, use the Fire Emblem to destroy it. The Fire Emblem is the most powerful weapon known to man, potentially made by Naga herself. Its power is poorly understood, and The Monolith is understood even less. The Monolith is completely unknown to man. Using the Fire Emblem prematurely may only worsen the current circumstances.
Yes, not using the Fire Emblem will undoubtedly allow The Monolith to grow in power and raise the population of The New Foreigners. But the population of demons can be contained to a low if the armies of the six kingdoms unite to exterminate them together while other solutions to The Monolith are explored. The Fire Emblem grows with power over time. In fact, it grows exponentially according to the texts of the ancients. The potential negative effects of the Fire Emblem could be astronomical. It could destroy not only The Monolith, but the entire world. In the future, people will look to the Legion as present day peoples look to the ancients for taking the time to understand The Monolith, especially if another Monolith should rise again.
The Alliance would lead one to believe that The Monolith should be destroyed without question. They believe that the arrival of a powerful arcane object completely unknown to mankind should be tampered with by a powerful arcane object very poorly understood by mankind that is proven to alter reality without question. They would rather risk 10,000 years of development of the greatest Empire on earth than take 10 years to make an educated decision. They must be defeated, and the Spheres they foolishly attempt to horde must be stripped from them, for they do not possess the responsibility to use them when they must! The Legion will achieve their goals by any means necessary. If that means death to the Alliance, then so be it.
