Fandom Fire Emblem: Crusade

A long time ago, the world was at war with legendary and mythical creatures such as dragons, sea serpents, and even astral beings like spirits and demons. Humanity was on the verge of losing, until the Heroes of Old discovered an extremely powerful mysterious artifact, now known as the "Fire Emblem". With its power in their hands, they banished the creatures into a distant realm, ending the dreadful war and obtaining victory for humanity. Peace and prosperity was brought upon the world once more.

Slowly, they began to rebuild the world for the future of mankind. And soon enough, the various kingdoms rose, each led by the Heroes of Old.

The Grawen Kingdom, led by Bornad, the Fierce, and Frieda, the Righteous. The warriors of the world rallied to them, granting them an army rivaled by none in physical strength.

The Vanate Empire, led by Theron, the Valiant. With the pegasi and the wyverns populating the area, they were granted dominion over the skies and the seas.

The Aurania Theocracy, led by Lancelot, the Wise, and Verena, the Devoted. The magicians of the land, and those faithful to the Light Spirit, followed them, making them the most fearsome when magic comes to play.

However, with the Fire Emblem's existence, old friendships and alliances were broken in pursuit of this powerful artifact. The nations warred against each other, and once more, conflict and ruin was scattered throughout the land. After ten years of unceasing strife, the rulers of the various nations held an assembly, with which they formed the "Treaty of Lind", named after their fallen comrade during their old days of heroism. This treaty, signed and approved by each and every single of them, had the artifact disassembled into pieces and scattered throughout the world, sealing the Fire Emblem and its power away from the hands of mankind.

Thus, the war, known as the War of the Emblem ended. Still, the aftermath was there - blood has been shed, towns and cities had been burned, and trust had been broken. The nations were at peace, but their camaraderie was questionable. The world was never the same again.

Centuries had passed since then.

Conflict, once again, begins to stir among the nations. Rumors have been spreading the existence of a forgotten artifact that hold immense power, and almost every living person in the world is intrigued by it. Especially the nobles of the land, since power will always lead to greater glory and authority. Search parties were assembled, and sent to scour every inch of the world in hopes of finding this artifact. Unfortunately, there had been no evident results, and people began to stop believing about such a silly rumor.

That was, until the Grawen Kingdom had gotten a piece of this mysterious artifact. Then and there, it was all revealed - that the artifact was the "Fire Emblem", and its great powers that no mortal should have. The Vanate Empire, after hearing this, doubled their efforts in their searches. Of course, so did the Grawen Kingdom.

The Aurania Kingdom, however, did not desire history to repeat itself.

High Priestess Lutia, of Aurania, held an audience with the rulers of Grawen and Vanate. With her best efforts, she tried to convince them to halt their searching, but the trust had been broken ages ago. King Orvil, of Grawen, threw a fit and declared war to those who seek to hinder him in finding all the piece of the Fire Emblem. Emperor Veldar, of Vanate, saw this as a challenge to his rule, and stated that he will take the artifact for himself. And with that, another war had began.

In this world of constant conflict, a terrible darkness looms over all. Soon enough, ruin shall befall the lands.
The strong will prey upon the weak, and they shall do nothing because they are weak.
Destiny shall be claimed for oneself.

You are:
[1] Maxim. An ambitious noble from Grawen, seeking to claim the throne for himself.
[2] Ingrid. A tactician from Aurania, journeying to find her sister and her purpose.
[3] Nyle. A skilled fighter from Vanate, traveling under the order of the Emperor.

Do I need to be well-versed in the fandom?
- Nope. I will be making it so that everyone can participate without doing research.

Will you be using the classic FE mechanics?
- Not entirely. Weapon triangle and some shit will be there, but there won't be much numbers.

Are there difficulty levels, like casual, hard, and even lunatic?
- Yes, but I won't reveal them. You'll just know it 'cause there'll be either lots of death or lots of stupid shit.

Does this have an update schedule?
- None for now. I'll update whenever sufficient votes are in.

3. The skilled fighter Nyle

You are Nyle.

A Vanatean working vigorously to sustain one's self. You never had any high ambitions, nor did you aspire to be more. You simply were content with what you had and wanted to keep it that way. Life's hard as it is and you don't want any further complications, after all.

Under the Empire's grand army, The Order of The Crimson Sky, you work as a captain, assigned to lead a small squad of lower-ranked soldiers and guide to them to the path to victory. Compared to the imperial generals, you are insignificant, and that makes your job easier than most. Your mistakes and screw-ups are easily forgiven compared to those with a higher authority. That, and the bond you've formed over the past times with your comrades.

It's the eighth day since you left the city of Orfose in search for the pieces of the "Fire Emblem", as the Emperor had ordered. Currently, your squad's efforts show no results. You have no leads as to where you may find a piece, and are struggling to find one.

The sun had risen and cast its light upon the ground. You can feel its heat slightly seeping through the fiber of the tent you were in. It would seem that it was time to leave your current campsite, so you left your tent and went outside, where you were gladly welcomed by the forest you were camping in. The place your comrades had spotted was quite decent, it was wide enough for your entire squad to camp in without completely occupying all of the space it provided. It was a plain area surrounded by a number of bushes and trees, which granted you some sense of security, since those could be used as natural camouflage, should you encounter any opposing force.

Taking a look around, you see that almost the entirety of your squad was outside of their tents as well.

To the eastern section, a few steps away from your tent, was Ferna. She wore the standard issue armor for pegasus knights, a light iron chain-mail with a fair share of red tints and the crest of Vanate displayed on the front. She looked fairly decent compared to a common soldier, but that is merely due to her vast amount of experience in combat. Her hair was styled in a spiked bob-cut, which strangely went well with her balanced figure and her bright green eyes. Currently, she was busy patching up some sort of tunic.

To the west, a bit further away from your location, were Sezer and Osron, donning their standard issue armors, grey-tinted iron mails with a few red shades here and there, as well as the crest of Vanate painted on the fronts. The two of them were chatting casually as they took sips from their cup of freshly-brewed tea every now and then. Sezer, the one with a lengthy scar on his left cheek, had a messy, hazel brown hair that complimented his brown eyes. Osron had his red hair combed back, down to his nape, granting him a clean look, although it contrasts his deep blue eyes. Both of them were obviously larger than Ferna, but if the two were compared to each other, one would say that Sezer has slightly more body mass compared to Osron.

Straight ahead, a few meters away from the two aforementioned locations, was Klara's tent. It had been opened, and left empty. As expected, she had risen far earlier than the rest of the squad, and even you, to check on your mounts. Now that you think of it, as you rode your mounts up in the skies during the past days, you could not help but notice something strange at the far sectors of the forest, where smoke was clearly coming from. Perhaps it was another Vanatean troop looking for the pieces of the "Fire Emblem", but you can't help but wonder if it was an enemy troop's camp.

Thus, you went back inside your tent and grabbed hold of an issued map of the world, which now had gotten its purpose. You take a good look at it, and realize that the forest you are in is unbelievable near the border between Grawen and Vanate. And with the news regarding the assembly of the three nations' rulers, this could only mean one thing - the Grawen as pushing forward and most likely have knowledge on where a piece of the artifact might be located. With this in mind, you can't let the chance pass - you desired to check out the origin of the smoke you saw days ago.

And as if it was on queue, Ferna had asked to enter the tent, presumably to discuss the next plan of action of the squad, especially with its current state of zero progress.

"Come in.", you say.

Ferna entered reluctantly, taking a slow and steady steps until she was a merely a few steps away from where you stood. She glanced at you, then to the map you held, but kept her tongue still.

"What is it?", you asked.

Ferna's posture stiffened, and replied. "It has been eight days, captain. We show no progress with our task."

[1] "Worry not. I have found a lead."

"You need not worry any longer, Ferna.", you say. "I believe I may be onto something here."

Ferna, with her interest piqued, replied in a curious tone. "M-might I ask what is it, captain?"

"Very well.", you answer. "Do you remember the smoke we saw the past days, when we were at the skies?"

Ferna paused for a while and thought deeply, then replied to your question shortly after. "Yes, captain."

"Come here.", you say, opening the map you held in your hand and placing it down on the table. Ferna followed your order and came closer, up to a point where she could see the map clearly.

"As you can see...", you say, hovering your fingers to the mountains between Orfose and Hamerstine. "...this mountain range is in between the borders of Vanate and Grawen."

You pointed to a section of the forest near it. "This is where we are." Then, you pointed to another section, but located far closer to the mountains. "And this is where we saw the smoke."

Confused, Ferna questioned you. "What are you trying to say, captain?"

"That smoke, that we saw the past days, was obviously coming from a camp. However, we do not know if that camp is occupied by our fellow Vanatean soldiers, or by Grawen's forces.", you answer. "But according to their location, it is highly likely that they would have came from Grawen, and are in pursuit of the Fire Emblem as well."

You, then, turned to face Ferna once more. "If the news about Grawen possessing a shard of the artifact is true, then it is possible that they have discovered a way on how to locate it. If that's the case, then we have to seize that camp and take as much information as we can. Should they already obtain a shard, then it would be better."

"But captain, aren't soldiers of Grawen formidable in combat?", she asked once more.

"Yes.", you answered. "But we have the skies, and they do not. The terrains are always to our advantage. Besides, we are trained soldiers, are we not?"

"Y-yes, captain.", she replied.

"Now, tell the others to prepare. We are to head onto the origin of the smoke soon.", you ordered Ferna. She, obviously, nodded and left to do the task she has been given.

You, after doing that, still had a bit of time freed up. After all, you were always ready to depart.

Deciding that it would be best to check on the state of your mounts, you head onto their location - an isolated area near your current camp, surrounded by tall bushes that hides it from plain sight. You would not have found it, If it weren't for the tiny hint, in the form of a bush sliced in half diagonally, and half of the bush painted in red.

Upon entering the area, you were welcomed by the sight of you and your troops' respective mounts. To the west, near a large boulder were the wyverns of Sezer and Osron, both which had rough scales and a fair amount of refined metal armor suited upon the beasts to provide protection without hindering their capabilities of flight. Sezer's wyvern had a combined shade of dark green and black, whilst Osron's had a pure grey one.

To the east, near a number of flower patches were the pegasi of Ferna and Klara, both which had white skin and dressed in light armor, as not to hinder them in the skies. Ferna's pegasus had a light brown mane and tail, both which have small braids just at the end of the grouped hair strands. Klara's pegasus has a bright yellow mane, trimmed symmetrically as she always prefers, never getting longer that a dagger's length, while its tail had a small leather belt binding its strands together.

However, you could not find your mount. Surprised, confused, and worried, you began to scour the area for any trace of it, and its possible departure. It may have wandered off once more, as it usually does when it has not been at the sky for more than a day. One of the many reasons why you had to take it flying up in the air for at least five minutes or so every day.

Luckily, you found some footsteps from where it should have been, and they were leading away from the area. It might really have wandered off, and at such a misplaced time. Finding your mount would be rather difficult, and will delay your plans of striking that camp. In fact, you might even miss the chance of catching the camp as you try to find your mount. However, as a soldier of Vanate, losing your mount is the same as losing your purpose. Thus, you decided that you shall search for it, no matter the cost.

That, and Klara was not present here, nor was she there at the camp. She usually checks up on the mounts, but with her being absent here, things seem to be rather strange. The possibility of an enemy ambush comes up on your mind.

Fortunately, before you could even come up with some form of emergency plan, you hear footsteps not far from your location. Turning to face where it came from, you see Klara walking towards you, as she holds a chain with her hands that drags on from behind her.

What is your mount?
[1] A wyvern with red-tinted scales, with a shade of black over its skin.
[2] A wyvern with brown-tinted scales, with a shade of dark green over its skin.
[3] A pegasus with green main and tail, both cut short and the strands bound together by strings.
[4] A pegasus with black main and tail, both unkempt and styled freely as the wind dictates it.

Fire Emblem: Crusade

As Klara came closer, a large, familiar figure was revealed to be following her. It slowly revealed its appearance as it followed her out of the shadows of the forest, showing off its multiple small horns on the top of its head, its shiny red scales and rough black skin, whilst being adorned by the metal armor that covered a portion of its body.

It was your wyvern - your trusty flying mount.

You step aside as Klara enters the area and latches the chain to a tree near the large boulder grouping your wyvern with the rest of its kin.

"You took it flying, I assume?", you say.

Klara, the girl with the brown hair styled in a ponytail, turned to face you, revealing her clear, yet dark green eyes. Like the rest of your crew, she wore the standard flier armor above her preferred garments. "Yes.", she replied. "Your wyvern is one needy mount, after all, captain."

"Indeed.", you answer. "Many thanks for keeping Iznig in check."

"It is an honor, captain.", she said. Then, she turned and began to walk away, presumably heading back to the camp. "If you'll excuse me captain, I must prepare for our departure."

Surprised, you answer. "You know?"

She grins for a short moment. "Yes, captain. Word spreads fast within our group. Especially when one is merely flying atop the camp, overhearing almost everything." Klara leaves shortly after, giving no room for a reply.

You took a moment alone with the mounts for a short while, then returned to the camp as well.

Fire Emblem: Crusade

You go back to your tent, and grab your sword, as well as a partly-used whetstone. After doing so, you took a small, empty crate and turned it upside down to function as a tiny stool. There, you placed on of your foot and bent a knee.

Atop your postured leg, you placed the whetstone and strapped it on through two strings at each end. Then, you drew your sword and began to sharpen its edge by running the blade up and down, making it grind against the stone and producing soft screeching noises as you rhythmically repeated the action over and over for a minute or so.

Once finished, you removed the straps from the whetstone and placed it on a nearby desk. Then, you grabbed a torn cloth and carefully wiped the blade of the sword. After this, you poured water over it and wiped it once more. Finally, you were done, and sheathed back the sword to its scabbard.

You strapped it onto your waist and headed out of the tent, where you were welcomed by your allies, all prepared as you had expected them to be. The mounts were lined up and ready for flight, just a few steps ahead from the campsite. The soldiers of this troop - Ferna, Klara, Sezer, and Osron, all looked onto you as if waiting for something.

You breathed deeply, and raised your palm, then waved it forward, as you spoke in a loud voice. "Let's go."

"Yes, captain!", they all responded and proceeded to get on their mounts - Ferna and Klara on their pegasi; Sezer and Osron on their wyverns. You followed suit and sat on the saddle on Iznig, your wyvern. With a yell, and a slight tap on its neck, you took to the skies, along with your fellow soldiers.

Up in the air, the fores looked similar - towering trees everywhere, allowing very little to no sight of what is below, unless there is some sign of marker, such as a rising pillar of smoke, or a flag swaying to the wind's mercy. The clouds were scarce, making the sun's bright light and heat be somewhat of a hindrance.

But since you've known where the camp should be, these were nothing but minor obstacles to your goal. You flew east, heading towards the direction of the mountains. Your troop, of course, followed you.

After a while in the skies, you finally found it - the pillar of smoke, however, it has been thinned and seem to be slowly dissipating. "There it is.", you say to them.

"Well, captain, what are we waiting for?", Sezer replied, his axe firmly gripped by his hand. His eyes were filled with excitement, and recklessness. "Let's swoop in on them while they aren't expecting it!"

[1] "Do not be hasty, we do not know if it truly is a Grawen camp. It might be our fellow Vanateans for all we know."

"Do not be hasty.", you said to Sezer. "We do not know if it truly is a Grawen camp. It might our fellow Vanateans for all we know."

Sezer wanted to persuade you in doing it his way, the reckless way, but Osron looked at him and gestured him to lower his weapon. Of course, knowing Sezer, he did just that. After what happened between his duel with Osron, he had better not tick off that guy.

"What now, captain?", Osron spoke. Your squad was still in the air, floating a few inches just above the towering trees of the forest.

"We descend.", you answered. "We should see first if this is an enemy camp."

"And if it is, we attack them, right?", Sezer intervened, his voice still sounding full of eagerness.

"Yes. We strike them right away, when they are unprepared.", you replied, as you ordered Iznig to fly downwards and land upon the ground, just a few meters away from the camp. And as expected, the others followed suit. Once all of you landed, you began to tie your mounts to nearby trees and boulder to ensure they won't wander off. Having that happen would pretty much bring your entire squad to a difficult situation, and you all don't want that.

After the mounts had been secured, you and your squad headed off towards the camp. Upon arriving there, you spoke in a whispering voice, "Positions.", as you waved your right hand, gesturing to split up and get ready to ambush.

Some hid behind trees, and others behind tall bushes, just like you did.

The camp was surprisingly empty. The fire of the campfire had just been put out, smoke was still rising from it, though it was fading quickly. The tents and some other equipment such as benches and food containers were left there, but other than that it seemed that you did not catch those who stayed here.

But seeing that the camp was rather untidy, as if those who stayed there left in a hurry, made you assume that they would return shortly.

And not soon enough, you see Klara from your far east, behind a tree, gesturing that somebody is coming. She may have heard the footsteps since she was the closest to the camp. You, then, gestured to the rest that they should ready their weapons. Of course, they did. Sezer was even quite excited that he could not stop himself from grinning like a madman.

The footsteps grew louder, and they sounded as if the person was running. After a short while, a lavender-haired woman, wearing a brown cloak, was revealed from the forest's shadows as she entered the scene. You held up your hand and clenched your fist, signalling for your squad to hold their positions, but unfortunately, Sezer did not pay attention.

Instead, the reckless soldier ran and tackled the woman to the ground, forcing you all to reveal yourselves as he kept her pinned there.

"Haha!", Sezer yelled. "We gotcha, you Grawenil!"

The woman groaned and moaned as she struggled to break free from Sezer's clutches, and after a number of failed tries, she just stopped and sighed.

Orson stood guard from the direction she came from, anticipating any more incoming soldiers. Klara and Ferna went ahead to investigate the camp grounds. You stepped forward and closed in on Sezer and the lavender-haired woman.

"I will ask, and you shall answer." , you addressed the woman. "Under stood?"

There was no reply from her, only another grunt, and her final struggle to attempt to escape Sezer's firm grip.

"Keep her pinned down.", you say to Sezer, as you turn and took a step, heading towards Klara and Ferna to see what they were doing.

"Gladly.", he replied.

The lavender-haired woman, in turn, shouted to you. "Wait!"

You halted, and glanced at her.

"I'll talk.", she said. "Just get him off me."

You turn around. "Restrain her.", you commanded Sezer, as you threw a short rope to his direction. Sezer caught it, and stood up, dragging the cloaked woman with him and tied her hands to her back. After this, he took a step away.

"Her feet.", you say.

"What about 'em?", Sezer replies.

"You did not restrain her feet.", you answer.

"I can catch up to her easily. Beside, she won't, err, can't run away.", Sezer smirked. "Not while I'm here."

The lavender-haired woman showed disgust in her face as Sezer spoke those very words. Sezer winked at her, which she ignored completely.

"Very well.", you said. Now, back to the matters at hand. The questions you are to ask the woman.

The lavender-haired woman, in surprise, answered back. "How do you know I am from Grawen?"

You pointed to her, near the edge of her right shoulder, where a small metallic emblem was pinned upon the cloak. She glanced over there as well, and got flustered a bit.

"Oh.", she said.

"Answer the question.", you ordered her.

"I would.", she replied. "But something tells me that you don't plan to keep me alive once I've answered your questions."

"You are from Grawen, and we, from Vanate.", you reply. "There is no outcome other than bloodshed. Such is the tragedy of war. In this case, it is your blood that shall be spilled."

"But what if I told you that I could be of great use to you?", she asked.

"The only use you have for us is giving us the answers to our questions.", you say.

"Well, Grawen is not as simple as you think. After all, we did obtain the first piece of the Fire Emblem.", she said. "I assume you are all out here looking for the other pieces as well? There's no other reason for the high and mighty knights of the sky to leave their nest."

"You have a point.", you said. "Still you have not answered my questions."

"Alright, fine.", she said. "But you'll spare me if I answer them?"

"You are in no position to bargain with me.", you firmly say.

"At least consider it?", she pleaded.

You sighed. "Answer the questions."

"I'll take that as a yes.", she said. "My allies are headed to a cave not far from here, and just like you, we're looking for the pieces of the Fire Emblem as well."

"I see.", you said. You then, spoke in a loud voice. "Everyone, ready up! We shall head to a cave nearby. And prepare yourselves for a fight."

"Finally!", Sezer said with eager tone. Osron grabbed his axe, and the two girls got out of the tents.

"So?", the lavender-haired woman addressed you. "Will you spare me?"

"I will consider it. However, if I think that at any point you seek to betray us, I will end you without hesitation.", you say. "Do we understand each other?"

"Of course!", she replied enthusiastically. Her life was just spared, after all.

"Now, show us where this cave is.", you order here.

"That was not part of the deal.", she answered.

"I have can easily change my decision, Grawenian.", you reply.

"Right.", she said. "Follow me, I'll get you there." The lavender-haired woman began to walk off, retracing her tracks before she returned to this camp. You raised you hand and gestured the others to follow her, which they did. As usual, you were at the front, Sezer and the two girls were at the middle, and Osron was at the rear.

As you walked through the forest's grounds, you can't help but overhear the discussions from behind. Sezer was questioning the words of Klara, who had Ferna back her up. Apparently, they found out a number of scrolls that contained extremely valuable information back there at the tents.

You intervene their chatter. "What are you arguing about?"

"These two are saying that they saw a rough sketch of a map that pinpoints the location of the Fire Emblem's remaining pieces.", Sezer answered.

"Is this true?", you addressed the two girls.

"Y-yes, captain.", Ferna replied.

"You know we take our mission seriously, captain.", Klara backed her up. "We won't lie about something of that matter.
We saw that map. And it was real."

"Do you have any proof of this?", you continue.

"That woman.", Klara pointed to the Grawenian. "She's most likely leading us to one of those pinpointed locations. The map had an area near here marked."

"I-if you don't believe us, captain, you can s-see it for yourself when we get b-back there.", Ferna added.

"Very well. I trust both of you.", you say.

"What?", Sezer said in surprise.

"But if you lie, you shall receive appropriate punishments.", you continue.

"Of course." Klara replied. "We are well aware of that, captain." Ferna would have complained, but Klara hushed her.

As you continued to traverse through the forest, you took short glances to the rest of your squad. And in one instance,
you saw Osron signalling you that something might be off. This caused you to be more alert and doubt the Grawenian,
whether she is truly leading you to the cave, or merely setting you up for a successful ambush.

Thus, you decide to commune with the lavender-haired girl.

"Tell me, err...", you say.

"Luseyl.", she responded.

"What?", you answer, confused of her reply.

"My name.", she clarified. "It's Luseyl."

"Hm.", you continue.

Luseyl paused for a short moment, then resumed her walk. "I have my...priorities.", she said. "And I'm not really from Grawen, so to say."

"What?", you answer, clearly surprised of what she had said. "Then how come you work for Grawen?"

"It's a complicated situation that led to this complicated situation.", she replied.

You would have pushed the conversation further, but she halted in her tracks, causing the rest of you to stop as well.

"Here we are.", Luseyl said The area was rather clear, yet full of mess such as fallen petals and leaves, branches, and some small pieces of steel and wood. She, then, pointed to a cave entrance with a bunch of broken twigs and dried leaves scattered around its vicinity. "That's the cave where they are."

"Good. Now show the way through this cave.", you say.

"Uh.", she spoke with a rather nervous tone. "I'd rather stay here."

"And why is that?", you ask.

"Because if they find out that I betrayed them, they'd prioritize killing me than all of you.", she answered. Lusely then, sat down on a nearby stump. "I'll sit here. You don't need to worry about me."

"No.", you reply immediately. "Worrying about you is a necessity. Your allegiance is still unsure. You might even run away and report all of this to your superiors if I wasn't looking."

"You have a point.", she replied.

You turn to your squad. "One of us will stay here, and the rest will come with me to the cave."

Who shall stay and guard Luseyl?
[1] Pick Klara.
[2] Pick Ferna.
[3] Pick Sezer.
[4] Pick Osron.

Fire Emblem: Crusade

"Osron, you stay here.", you say. "Make sure that she does not run off."

Osron nodded in acknowledgement of this order, and then headed off to guard both Luseyl and the caves entrance. And with how he'd been performing all those times under you, it is certain that sneaking from his sight is a near-impossible feat.

You turn to the cave. "Alright everyone.", you say as you draw your sword. "Be alert and keep in formation. Sezer, you stay at the back."

"Yes captain!", they all responded soundly.

You and the three remaining soldiers - Klara, Ferna, and Sezer, entered the cave. It was quite lit up, due to the light from outside, but as you walked in further and deeper into the cave, the darkness began to slowly creep in. Visibility was getting reduced every passing moment, that you and your troop had to clump together.

"We should have brought a torch.", Sezer said.

"We're too far for that now.", you answer. "Just stay in formation."

After a few minutes of walking into a seemingly endless tunnel of darkness, a dim light glowed from afar, slightly illuminating the cave through the reflections of its light that bounced off the edges. From there on, visibility was slowly restored and the cave seemed to grow larger and larger as you pushed onward.

But something seemed off. And it was not about the light. Rather, it was the ground. Back then, the ground was extremely solid and felt as if made out of pure rock, but as you travel deeper, it now seems as if the ground had become softer,
and composed of various kinds of soil.

Not only that, but there were random pieces of broken and rusted equipment scattered around, and a strong unpleasant odor was seeping from somewhere.

"Prepare yourselves.", you say to your troops. "Something's not right."

And after walking for a short distance, your began to hear yelling and the clashing of steel, not far from your location.

"Captain, those might be the Grawenian's allies.", Klara said. "They sound like they're fighting someone else."

"That's weird.", Sezer added. "She never said anything about fighting someone other than her allies."

"Indeed.", you say. "Let's see what's going on in there."

You and your squad sneakily headed onto the origin of the noise, and as you arrive there, a strange and unwelcoming sight unfolded before your very eyes.

A number of armed soldiers, presumably Luseyl's allies, were clashing their steel with creatures that should not even exist - corpses moving on their own.

Revenants - the dead who have come back to life. They act only on instinct, and that is to feast on flesh, as such will keep their unnatural existence from ending. They, unfortunately, have the same abilities when they were alive, making them formidable foes even for trained fighters. But what makes them terrifying is that they do not truly die - in only takes them a few minutes or so to rise once more. The only way to get rid of them is though the use of the sacred arts known as exorcism and banishment.

But according to known history, they no longer exist after being banished during the ancient war before the nations were founded. And yet here they are.

The soldiers are at a disadvantage - their enemies unbeatable, and their stamina getting drained by the prolonged fight.
