TanteRegenbogen

The Person formerly known as Anii ⚧
Plot: You died somehow or so you thought. Once you reopen your eyes, you lay in the arms of woman with animal ears. You realize you have just been reborn as a demi-human. Most of the reborn have happy lives with their new families. Some end up having a hard time.

Fast forward two decades or so: A world war breaks out, your parents send you to live with your grandparents or another guardian in a distant, neutral land unaffected by the war to prevent you from being drafted or caught in the fighting. Your new home for the duration of the war, possibly for years, is a place called the Fiordlands. The Fiordlands, officially the Confederation of the Fiordlands, is a neutral rural nation far from your homeland. You were sent to relatives or friends of your parents/guardians to be safe from the war and avoid being drafted into the army.

At first, the village seems dull with only the surrounding nature being interesting. However, your current caretakers warn you not to go too far into the forests around the village as they are dangerous and to never wander off established paths. The truth is, the forests are inhabited by many mystical creatures only known from folklore, but never thought to be actually real by anyone from the cities. Not only that, but the magic seems to also still exist in these parts. Some demi-humans in the area still know basic magics for home convenience. The old demi-humans however warn of someone on the edge of the village who is skillfull in magics, but legend has it that they eat the souls of children or even eat them with the bodies. Might be only stories to scare children into being cautious around magic users though.

Village: The village is called Foxlake. It is a farming community not far from the upper end of the "Smaller Green Fiord", one of the smaller fiords of the Fiordlands, however warmer in climate than other parts of the land. Foxlake mostly consists of farms and homes. The village has it's own train stop (basically just a booth to stand in when it is raining) to reach the next largest town, Lilac, which has most of the amenities and fun stuff Foxlake is missing. Foxlake only has a village hall with a pub connected to it for "fun".

Era/technology: Modern era. Some magic is still used. The world war is fought with conventional weapons.

Species: You can play mammal-based demi-humans. So dog demi-humans, cat demi-humans, rabbit demi-humans etc. The demi-humans look mostly human but with animal ears and tails, maybe even claws or so.

(OOC: Sorry about the wait.)

As the war raged on in the other nations and villages were massacred in dishonorful warfare, everything was peaceful in the Fiordlands. The Fiordlands and it's island neighbor Vallosia vowed to be strictly neutral and not meddle in the affairs of the other nations. However a considerable number of children of all demi-human types, orphans or not, were sent to the Fiordlands to wait out the war under the guardianship of a distant relative, family friend or assigned caretaker. Many hoped that the children would eventually have a home to return to, but a war of such scale could take years until it ended.

Meanwhile, on a warm autumnal morning, a tall and well build woman with long black hair and horns wearing blue overalls, a white camisole, a black velvet choker and boots stood on the field in front of her home. She was gazing up to the green mountains enjoying the morning after it had rained the previous day. The woman went by the name of Ruru Laafa and was a farmer, but also the village witch. The village elders feared her and often told the young ones to not go to her alone. In local folklore, they say that the village witch has been around at least since when the elders were children. Her person was a mystery to most in the village, yet they always came to her when crops werent growing or someone fell gravely ill. The witch would always help them, often without compensation, yet Ruru never understood why they feared her. She hadn't done anything malicious towards the villages, yet they made up rumors about her such as that she would sometimes dine on children, when no children ever went missing for too long. They would eventually turn up alive again. Ruru would often guide the ones who got lost in the forest back to the outskirts,

Ruru went into her shed to get the plough. It was soon time to spread the seeds for the winter wheat, so she needed to get do ploughing the fields. "You guys better be ready once I finish ploughing the fields!" She called out towards her house to notify those under her guardianship that they need to be ready to help with the farm work within possibly an hour.

Ruru dragged the plough out to the field. She seemed to be inhumanly strong to not use a tractor but pull the plough herself. Ruru strapped a harness on and grabbed the two handles of the plough. She ended up ploughing rows into the fields with relative ease, sometimes needing to adjust her footing for traction. Within just over an hour, she had ploughed her three field plots. Ruru took the plough back to the shed and went inside the house to see if those under her guardianship were done getting ready and available to do some work.
