The night was cold...

A group of adventurers were seen travelling within the Phantom Forest, the faeries and phantoms didn't know why they were there. The forest was dark and filled with strange creatures, mushrooms and flowers were spread out as they emitted a light glow. Bright eyes stared at them from a distance as they were unconscious. Whispers could be heard as the faeries and phantoms were chattering, they wanted them out of the forest, no matter how aggressive they'll have to be.

Somewhere at a tavern...

Ventus arrived in the tavern as he was taking a break from taking care of the Night Lilies and dancing for Lamia. The message of the goddess who went down from the heavens and gave him the crystal, whose name was Slyph, still ringed in his head. How will he ever find the supposed 'chosen ones'? He sat at a corner table, eyeing the lonely patrons of the bar. As Ventus observed them, a light shone above their heads. His eyes widened in realization, they were the ones.

"May I have everybody's attention?"

"Another one, Taro."

The stout Lilty raised his brow as he lifted a clear, emerald bottle from underneath the counter, and set it down with an audible thump on the wooden surface. Orpha had to be cautious not to chuckle at the way he carried himself on those wooden steps behind the counter. She had found this particularly Lilty had misgivings about his height, remembering the scene of him whacking a drunken customer for calling his use of the wooden steps as 'cute'. Lilties, as she had heard, had a fiery temper. Best not to fan the flames in the presence of one.

"Careful not to overdo it, missus," he warned, eyeing her with some amount of caution as he yanked the cork out of the bottle with a grunt.

Metal fingers drummed along the counter, and a smirk played on the customer's lips. "Why would you care how drunk I got? I'm paying you."

"Aye, but I'm the one waking you up and trying to shove you to your room when you've passed out," Taro countermanded in his high pitched tone, lifting the bottle with one hand, and pouring a clear liquid into the cup that Orpha gripped in her left hand. He set the bottle down with another thump, and folded his arms. He eyed Orpha pulling her hand away from the cup, reaching into a pouch she had slung on her belt. He held a swollen hand out, feeling the cool metal brush against his skin. He put it into a pack that was coiled around his waist. "Just don't get to that stage. For my sake, and your own."

"You won't have to worry. I'll be on my way soon enough," Orpha explained with a smile, grabbing her cup, and taking a swig of it. Really, she only intended to take a detour to this tavern to restock and be on her way again. That being said, she could never resist a few cups of Tonberry Tonic. This would be the last one, before she'd make her way onto the nearest city...if she didn't get lost again. She sighed, rubbing her forehead. Maybe I should have just ordered stock in... Orpha's lips bristled as she blew out a breath, taking another sip of her drink. She knew it wasn't an option though; often times the stock came and they weren't the right parts or materials, or the suppliers, no matter how long she had been ordering from them, tried to pull the wool over her eyes. It was better to go and buy from the suppliers outright. The store lay in the capable hands of her kooky old man. At least then she could still turn a profit with what she had.

"Taro, know any Chocobo stables nearby? I need to grab one for a decent price if I'm gonna make it to the next city and back to Demarys within a week or two," Orpha rolled back her shoulders, waiting for a half-grunted response from the bartender. Though, it never came. She glanced to the Lilty who had frozen on the steps, staring at something above Orpha's head. "What? Don't tell me I've got something in my hair," she groaned, patting down her head to find the source of whatever could have settled amongst her head. After much rustling, she didn't find much. Eventually, Orpha had enough sense to raise her head and look at whatever was over her head.

And was met with a brilliant beacon of light shining above her. She blinked, and she murmured, "What the...?" She had been snatched completely from her squinting at the light, to a voice beckoning everyone's attention towards them. Orpha swivelled around on the stool, her eyes locking on a young man at the other side of the tavern. Orpha found herself incessantly blinking, convinced it was the Tonics that had sent her mind doolally. The young man practically had roses stretching from his back, entwined around his arms. The young woman gripped her forehead, and she muttered to herself, "Crap, how many of those Tonics did I have?" Varian was sat in at a table in the middle of tavern happily sipping away at a glass of fruit juice, he had no idea what kind of fruit it was, nor did he care, it was sweet and tasted good! That's all that mattered. It had been the perfect thing for him to have after a long day of work, he had been helping a local farm by taking care of a small invasion of monsters that had come from the forest. It had been easy for the most part, he had been able to scare a lot of them away, but he had needed to kill a few of the more stubborn ones, which had upset him a bit, he never liked having to kill things, even when they were trying to kill him.

He did have to admit, the atmosphere in this tavern was quite charming if a little scary at times with the bartender giving people who called him short a slab on the head, apart from that though the young spellblade found it a rather pleasant place to be staying. There also seemed to be quite a few interesting people there, like the girl with the metal hand, or the really cute boy with what seemed to be roses growing out of him, he really wanted a chance to question them about that stuff, but he was also a little nervous about intruding on them, so he decided to just sit at his table and ponder away the reasons to himself.

Varian's train of thought was then derailed as he noticed a bright light coming from above him. Looking up, the man was met with a bright light, causing him to squint to try and see what it was. It seemed to be some kind of magic, but was it on him or was it just there by coincidence. In order to test this out, Varian stood up from his seat and walked around a bit, a beaming smile growing on his face as he saw the light following him as he squealed in delight "Oh! That's so cool. I wonder who's doing this."

It was then that Varian noticed the look of the rose boys face and assumed he knew something about it. There was only one was he was going to get answers though, and that was to man up and talk to him. Varian took a deep breath and began thinking happy and calming thoughts before heading over to Ventus, his beaming smile still on display "Hi! Nice to meet you, I really like your roses, they're really pretty. I don't suppose you know what this light is about do you?"

Lucoco Chocoberry

The Phantom Forest

"One two, one two, one two." Lucoco tried to kept herself from getting bored by keeping her step in rhytm. It's one for her left foot and two for her right foot. She was leading a group of adventurers that accidentally took the same quest to gather some fairy dust.

No one really asked her for it but Lucoco took it upon herself to be the shield of the group and walked in front of everyone so she could protect them from incoming danger. It's just natural, you know? She's the only one with a shield! Even though she's only half the height, she was sure she could took more punishment than all four of the other adventurers combined.

Kupo, I'm just that reliable. Kukuku.

Regarding their quest item. Fairy dust was those glittering powder that faeri produce when they flap their wings. It could be used as a medicine for some rare disease and fethced some good price. Unfortunately it was quite hard to obtain since it tends to be spreaded sporadically in various place, even a faerie couldn't just produce it consciously. They had spent hours wandering inside the forest with no result. Maybe their approach was wrong? She turned to the rest of the team to ask for their opinion.

"This is outrageous kupo! Anyone know how to get our hand on some fairy dust effeciently?"

Remilia Toller
Remilia had found herself in quite the odd situation as her lone wolf approach to adventuring had been momentarily put on hold by quite a unique party. You see, the Phantom Forest was home to more dangers than benefits and thus questing in the area was scarce at best, however the demand for fairy dust was one that was rarely satisfied. While the original plan was to head into the forest and comeback with as many bags of the quest item as she could possibly carry even Remilia understood the daunting task that was travelling through such an accursed land. Instead of taking unnecessary risks Remilia opted to join forces with a group of adventurers, all of which were quite special in some sort of aspect although she knew not any of their names: (Lucoco) Starting off we have the most peculiar of the bunch, a little yet fierce moogle that currently held the reigns of leadership, a choice Remilia was fairly happy with seeing how she seemed rather hot blooded. (Isryin) Second on this list was a silver-haired girl whose equipment were a dead giveaway that pointed towards an affinity for CQC situations, though mayhaps she should borrow some of the moogle's passion for adventuring as she seemed to lack any sort of emotion at all. (Hera) Moving on, lets briefly mention the healer whose gaze was more akin to a bloodthirsty overlord than that of a caring wielder of white magic, getting hurt truly became less of a priority with her at the helm of medical care. (Ignacious)Last but definitely not least we arrive at the most professional-looking of the bunch, a black haired boy whose looks perfectly portrayed what a seasoned adventurer would look like despite his seemingly young age, but did he have the bite to backup that statement? Remilia was definitely interested in witnessing his fighting prowess.

Back to the situation at hand, with every step they took deeper into the forest Remilia's grin seemed to widen ever so slightly. While the destination was most definitely crucial Remilia was much more interested in the journey as it presented her with the chance to encounter more fiends and by association acquire their skills. Mayhaps she'd obtain an ice based attack from a Ghost or even some sort of supportive spells a fairy attack the party. But alas, it'd seem the residents of the forest were much too timid to give their visitors a proper welcome and instead would rather mutter behind their backs.

"Truly the fiends of this forest lack any sort of courtesy, don't they know the great Remilia Toller has walked into their house? Surely at the very least a proper welcoming ceremony should've been organized." Remilia thought as she shook her head in complete disapproval, her flustered mind was however distracted by the moogle's words:

"This is outrageous kupo! Anyone know how to get our hand on some fairy dust efficiently?"

"Hmm, mayhaps we should capture one of them and kindly ask for their help...Should that fail though I am sure thoroughly shaking one may yearn some results!" Remilia proclaimed loud enough to ensure any nearby fairy would listen.

Hera Poiema

It was certainly a rare occasion for Hera to travel with such a merry band of adventurers; she was much more familiar with the company likened to those of hermits. However, overhearing the ramblings of a drunken man, the crimson-eyed mage learned of something that piqued her interest. Apparently, fairy dust contains magical properties that when brewed into a potion has the ability to cure ailments of many sorts. Poiema was unsure whether or not to trust the drunken spouts of a delirious man; but if she could avoid using her invaluable mana on the ill, the benefits would outweigh the costs. The problem was that this forest, Phantom Forest, which fairies are located is infamous for being unruly and hazardous to even trained individuals. So, for the sake of her crusade, she decided to take a quest concerning the collection of fairy dust with a group; and when all is done, she'll grab some for herself on the way out.

Now, the white wizard found herself in a forest surrounded by wary, hostile eyes. "Well, at least this forest is cleaner than most villages and every city," Hera murmured, observing her surroundings through her peripheral vision. There were broken logs, sprouting fungi, and a hint of something gone rotten to contradict her statement about the forest's cleanliness, but she chose not to focus on that. Those things were natural to the environment and fit into the world in her head. But those cities and villages, they were dens of vice. She couldn't walk through one without feeling suffocated by the thick air. This forest was a stroll in the dandelion fields compared to them. The only problem was the company she was in.

They weren't what she would consider filth, but it was different from what she was used to. There was that sparkling blue mage who proclaimed there goal aloud. The mog knight which cutely strutted in front of her. The silent pugilist who looked skilled enough, and the swordsman who looked equally skilled. "Well," Hera yawned, fanning her mouth, "if anything, I can always put to sleep one of these fairies, rip off their shiny, dusty wings and heal them up good as new, right?" She tilted her head to the right, giving a polite smile. "Just a thought, I'm not too well versed in hunting for fairy dust."

Fassad had been in a pickle- one that just so happened to have lasted multiple weeks. You see, he was never great at much of anything alone, and that "anything" he was occupied in trying to do alone just so happened to be a small quest he'd set himself on. What was it for? He wasn't really sure, himself. Part of him believed that it was to find somewhere to finally settle for home someday- while another part of him wanted to believe that he was going on a small, nonsensical journey to think over what he really wanted to do with his life. Sure, he was very talented with his musical skills, but his sensitive fox-ears would only get worse the longer he spent in life playing. And, again, sure- his pastry-cooking was at least worthy of being given a position at a bakery, or a cake-shop, but his entire body was covered in fur, which made it extremely difficult for him to find a job in a cooking position. Even if he didn't shed, patrons would be likely to show up less if they could see that a furball was mixing dough- like a disaster waiting to happen, just one hair in someone's food would be the end of his job.

Deep down, however, he knew most of all that his real reason for this journey thus far was to make some friends- ones that wouldn't have to part ways from him after a year, ones that weren't always on the move. And, what really made this apparent to him was the fact that he'd found himself half-working at this tavern for nearly two weeks now, entirely on accident. In an attempt to make conversation that couple weeks back, he'd started playing his guitar in the corner of the small pub's ground floor. Apparently, the other patrons had not seen this as an invitation to make a friend, but a request for money, as they'd started to give him some change- which, by the end of that night, had happened to be quite a large amount. So, he'd rented a room for the night upstairs once he was done, and found himself doing the same thing the next night. And the next night. And the next night.

Fourteen days, he'd spent playing guitar in the room, with small crowds around him, then engaging in smalltalk with a couple of those watchers from the night once he was done playing, and each time, he'd gotten enough money to pay for another night, with a bit to spare as well. Honestly, he was most surprised that the fellow running the place hadn't kicked him out at this point, but they'd told him simply that it was "good for business".

Tonight, he'd not felt much for guitar, so he was simply sitting alone in the corner, scoping the room out for someone approachable as he tapped his fingers against a small box of petite cakes he'd made before leaving those few weeks ago. Was this where he'd find himself for the rest of the month? Or the year? How long would he stay at this tavern? On one hand, it was fun, and comfortable, but on the other, all of the nice friends he'd made through talking would usually be on their way to wherever they were heading the next day. Surely this isn't where life would drop him off... But he was unsure whether he'd actually have the heart to leave anytime soon.

This line of thought was snipped, however, when he heard someone making some sort of... Announcement? It was strange, but also sounded quite fun, if he was honest with himself. Whoever had the confidence to do that was obviously carrying some extremely important info. Maybe it was- wait, what was that? Something felt strangely warm against the top of his head. Looking up, he found a shimmering light, slowly bobbing over himself- and, looking around himself, worriedly, he wasn't the only one, it seemed. In fact, much of the patrons now had these strange orbs above their heads! Perhaps this announcement was in regards to the lights! Just barely remembering to grab his box of cakes, he slid down the table's bench to end up right next to whomever was speaking a second ago- a boy with some lovely flowers protruding from his body! He'd seen weirder, but these flowers just smelled lovely.

Sicarius was knocked out in one of the booths in the tavern. To most it would look like he simply drunk himself to sleep, presently he was simply catching some sleep. He was in the grip of quite the dream. He dreamed he was being addressed by legendary dragons, that he stood before Nidhogg, Midgardsomr, Shinryu, Tiamat, Fafnir, and more. Yet none were more important than the legendary Dragon King Bahamut himself.

Then suddenly he was awoken and the dream quickly slipped from him. All he remembered was that he was addressed by some legendary dragons and Bahamut. He couldn’t recall the discussion or not even the environment of the dream. Sicarius banged his hand on the table in frustration and looked up to see what had awoken him. He stifled a yawn like a slumbering dragons awakening after thousands of years. He could see one person had the attention of others in the tavern so he must’ve been what disturbed the young Dragoon’s sleep. This better had be worth the inconvenience it just caused Sicarius.

Isryin Wardott
Alert for Attackers
HP: 100%
Isryin was lost.
Not metaphorically lost, it had been a while since she had started feeling that way, out of place, longing for something new. But no, this time Isryin was also literally and utterly lost. At some point the little mercenary trainee had looked around, realizing that this was probably not the way she wanted to go. Shoot! Maybe she should have actually brought a map... Oh well, that was a little late for that. Apparently, it had been so long since the girl had gone to town from home that she had taken a turn wrong somewhere. Apparently, her little mishap had also left her deep within the Phantom Forest.

Soon she had come across more people, well more people and also a tiny excitable Moogle. At first, Isryin had been wary of them, ready to draw forth a dagger should they attack her, but it seemed as if they were more curious than anything, prompting the girl to lower her guard near them. When asked the reason she was there, the girl's reply had been a single word: "Lost.". Any following inquiries had been answered similarly, either with a single word, to sometimes, no words at all, merely nods and shakes of her head.

Through back and forths, more between the others than herself, the silver-haired Pugilist had come to learn of the meaning of this mission, fairy dust. Difficult to gather and yet incredibly useful, could be brewed into medicine. Quite valuable. Isryin supposed they were after a reward for bringing back amounts of the material. She decided to stick around them, see where this endeavour took them... Maybe make friends...? Friends, the girl didn't know the first thing about that, how did you even tell that people were more than acquaintances? ...What did it feel to have a friend? Did it feel, nice? Did it make you feel alive?

As she wondered such things, Isryin followed the rest of the group, decided to step in, should the forest dwellers not like their presence, or their actions too much. She wasn't going to actively pursuit for fairy dust as long as she didn't actively get requested to and the girl didn't really care for the reward itself. Her stance was much more reactive. If they got attacked, she'd attack back, clear as day.

Taverns. They came in all sorts of flavors, but there were always a few constants. A grizzled bartender. Menial job offers for menial pay. Sellswords and gloryhounds under the title of 'adventurer' looking for a leg up in the world. For a moment, the young man was doubtful of taverns and how far this path would take him towards his craving. He sat as far away from others, content with simply reading through his grimoire with his hood up. He didn't really have a taste for the sort of music that was playing, as a scholar the tunes he listened to were more or less formulated to encourage serenity in studies.

Flipping another page, the young man paid no heed to the man who had found it necessary to announce something. The light was a slight surprise, but simply helped him read through the text in the dimness of the tavern better. Was this something that happened at every odd little tavern? Perhaps not, but unless it truly proved to be dangerous there was no point in trying to dispel it. He leaned forward slightly in his seat, tilting the book so as to better utilize the light source floating overhead.

Ignacious kept pace, wishing not to drag the group behind in this maze of a forest. He wonders to himself about how he got in this situation in the first place, but hardly gives it a passing thought. It is better than being chased by those brigands at every hour, he concluded to himself. He overheard the conversations that were going on between two of the adventurers who accompanied him. It was nice to have normal people to talk too. Back where he came from... he didn't exactly make the best of friends.

Why were they in need of magic fairy dust? Does it contain a special property that he didn't know about? Or perhaps medicinal effect for personal use. No matter, if they were looking for this item, they'll probably get rewarded. Which means... money. His avarice got excited, for that means he could live it easy for a couple days. Maybe. It wouldn't be the high life, but he could find a roof to sleep under without getting yelled at. As he moved forward, he readied himself for a fight. After all... that's what he was trained to do anyway.

Besides, Whiterose berries were in season, and they had a nice taste to them. Another woman turned her head, she seemed drunk. A fox turned it's head towards his way, he seemed like a cheerful boy. He noticed one of them didn't stand, Ventus was disappointed as he wanted all of them to noticed him but, he didn't really care that much.

He grabbed the crystal from his satchel and plopped it on the ground. As he examined it, the light above their heads flashed a large hue of blue before the tavern around them turned to nothing. A beautiful strum of a lute filled the room as a woman sitting on a stone appeared before them. The ground turned to water as they floated in air. The music surrounds them and it stops. The woman opens her eyes, revealing a beautiful shade of green.

"Warriors of Light, I ask you to protect the world from a grave threat. Shiva, Ramuh, and Bahamut have decided to banish this world by unleashing their powers. Most of the gods are still deciding whether or not to continue with their action. For all of you, I have left for you a blessing in the Phantom Forest. A faerie should give it to you. I must bid farewell for now, and remember, time waits for no one."
The figure disappeared as the room went back to normal. Ventus looked at everyone and told them, "The woman that you saw was Sylph, the goddess of Wind and Fate herself. I believe that everyone here has a good heart, and please cooperate with me. I know a way in the Phantom Forest that should lead us to a village." Ventus puts his hand in his chest, clenching his hand tightly. He hoped that everyone will help and stop the gods from destroying their world.

Well, quite unexpectedly, his question wasn't immediately answered, and as the young man with the roses plucked out a crystal, the room began to change form. Was this a hallucination? Had he been lured into a trap? As the room swirled out of existence around him, he made sure to quickly grab his box and dart onto his feet, holding said box in a pose as if he were ready to whack someone in the head with it. Though, as the bench he'd been sitting on disappeared, nobody that had come over did. So, was everyone else experiencing this as well?..

An echoing, slightly eerie strum of a lute graced his ears. Perhaps it would have been enjoyable in a less shocking situation. As a stone came into existence, followed by a woman on top of it, he kept on guard as she spoke- not that he could do an awful lot with what he had. While he did listen to what she said, he understood nearly none of what she was saying. Confused, he looked from person-to-person with a boggled expression on his face, but they all seemed to also be occupied with this woman's speech.

However, the woman didn't take even a moment to wait for him to understand, and the room returned to normal. He was still standing in an odd pose, now sweating, nodding absentmindedly as the man spoke to them. Though he kindly waited till he was done, at the very least, that didn't stop him from firing off his question on the moment that he finished.

"Shiva? Ramuh? Bahamut? Who in the world are they? I never grew up learning of many Gods, but from the sound of it, they don't seem like Gods much at all to me, if they're willing to just drop this world on a whim like that. And who's this lady? If she's a Goddess, can't she just tell them to leave us alone? I mean, if you all were to go, I'd be fine with it, but I don't see how she chose me to come along with all of you. I don't know anything about anything when it comes to combat!"

Though he probably looked pretty rude through this, it wasn't without reason. Who could've predicted this would happen? Not one minute ago, he'd been carrying a laid-back, personal life, and he'd suddenly been invited along for this ride. It just didn't add up that she'd have specifically chosen him among the others in the tavern to tell this to...

There was a groaning from behind them. A breeze flapping behind them before it ceased. Whatever it had been before they would all turn to inspect the sudden shift in the atmosphere, it would have been gone, as if it was a play on their imaginations. The whisperings of the faeries in the trees around them remained high and eerily ominous as they continued. None of them seemed eager to attack them, or to go out and confront them for themselves.

The further the adventurers walked, the calmer things seemed to be. Their path eventually led to a small spring, steam rising from the surface and billowing into the air. There were excessive giggles and high-pitched laughter, the splashing of water, and the fluttering of wings. A bathing spring. They were common for adventurers and vagabonds, but one would never think there would be springs for faeries. Fairy dust could be seen shimmering through the air, landing on all sorts of objects of nature; trees, water, rocks. It was practically a treasure trove.
Yet, even as the adventurers would dare to approach the spring, something menacing loomed in the air. That…groaning again, from right behind them. Yet, this time, it seemed louder…more aggressive. And like it came from more than just one entity…

Three phantoms appeared, their groaning ever louder with their subsequent appearance. One came from the back. The second flanked the right side of the group. The third, finally, had blocked off their advancement towards the spring. Their surrounding was a further warning. Go further and face the wrath of the Forest. Turn back now, leave from this place, before something was to befall them.

The phantom in front loomed dangerously in front of the moogle leading the party, something in its visage snarling at Lucoco. It made no attempt to attack, but the warning was clear as it had been when they first surrounded them.

The other two phantoms seemed to circle the group, like predators, yet like the first made no attempt to attack. One of them had their eyes firmly set on Ignacious and his sword, another eyed Hera, believing her to be the first easy target should any of them decide to fight back against the phantoms.

They would know the wrath of the Forest, should harm should come to any of them...or their goddess. Varian looked at the rose, and by extension Ventus, with big sparkling eyes, not unlike a child would candy "Wow, that's so cool! They look so pretty! How do they grow though? Do you some kind of magic sustaining them?" It would seem, however, that There would be more pressing issues than the young man's tidal wave of questions before the light above his head flashed blue as he and the others were transported somewhere.

The spellblades' mouth fell open in awe as he saw the environment change around them, and he observed in amazement as the room they were in began to change even more as they were now standing on water. Every part of him wanted to run around, arms waving above his head, screaming about how amazing this all was, he wouldn't have time though as his mouth was busy dropping down even further as a beautiful woman appeared. Varian was only able to half hear what she said as his brain went into overdrive, but I got the gist of it, and it certainly didn't sound good. He didn't want the world to end, it had so many wonderful things in it like flowers and sweets and cute fluffy creatures.

It had taken Varian a minute to regain his composure after one of the most amazing experiences of his life, though when he heard the fluffy fox ask about the gods, it seemed enough to put his mind into full throttle
"Hi... I think I may be able to answer that for you. From what I know, Shiva and Ramuh are gods related to ice and thunder respectively, as for Bahamut, I know he's a dragon of some kind. Though be bear in mind that I may be wrong, all I know comes from history books. I'd also suspect that the reason Lady Sylph is unable to stop them is that gods are theoretically equal so on her own there's nothing she'd be able to do, if she had a greater number of gods who agree with her then it might not be a problem, but seeing as how she's given us the task of somehow saving the world it would seem the others gods either agree with their three kin, or just don't care."

Varian then turned and gave Ventus a big, beaming smile "I'll happily help you in any way I can! I don't want the world to end, it has a lot of cute stuff in like you, and the fluffy fox, and Carbuncles, I love Carbuncles, it's just a shame I can't summon them, they're so fluffy and -!" The spellblade's face then went bright red as he frantically waved his hands in front of Ventus and Fassad "I'm SO sorry, I didn't mean that in a creepy way, honest!"

Just as Orpha believed she could become accustomed to the idea of a light circling her forehead like some sort of halo, that feeling had disappeared completely. Her surroundings had dipped into a deeper shade of blue, before the tavern disappeared around her. The benches, the counter, the weird painting of Chocobos playing poker on the wall had faded away into nothing. She stumbled off her chair before it too dissipated into nothingness. Orpha spun constantly, her mind in total disarray as only she, and a few of the tavern’s patrons remained.

When she glanced at her feet, she yelped, for a moment believing she was falling into the water. Only, Orpha calmed as she realised, she was floating. If calm was the word. She was still on edge, wondering if anyone around her was having the same reaction as she. Her wandering eyes landed on a woman, perched upon a stone and strumming her lute. Orpha blinked, turning to her as she began to speak.

Warriors of Light…Grave threat…Shiva, Ramuh, Bahamut…gods…faeries? Phantom Forest?
The words were filtering in through one ear, and trickling out the other like the water below her. None of it made sense. It sounded as vague and convoluted as all those folk tales her parents used to tell her and her brother when they were kids. She only ever heard of them or knew them in folktales. She never believed a god would come face-to-face with her.

“H-hey, hold on a second--!”
Orpha cried out, stepping forward with an outstretched arm to grab her attention, but the woman had disappeared, leaving the woman as clueless as ever. She rubbed her forehead again, groaning. She never got this bad with Tonics before. Hell, maybe the tender here made them stronger than they usually were. Did someone spike her drink? No, neither of those reasons made sense.

None of this made sense.

“Okay,”
Orpha began, inhaling deeply, and exhaling deeply, calming herself, and garnering the attention of the other so-called ‘Warriors’ around them. “Okay, so…some goddess…wants us to stop other gods from completely shattering our world into smithereens, because they feel like it?” The machinist was bewildered by her own words, and she rubbed her forehead. “And this…’Warriors of Light’ thing. That’s just some stupid story my parents told me to shut me up for twenty minutes. It can’t be real, right?” She wasn’t convincing herself at all. She sighed, and she looked from both the Fox and the Spellblade, the first who had been yabbering his disbelief that he had been chosen to go along with them, and the second, taking the whole event in his stride, even finding joy in going along with a man with flowers poking out of his shoulders.

“Do you hear yourselves? You’re just…just taking this at face value. Like it’s every day someone just wanders in, tells a group of lonely tavern dwellers about some big destiny they have, and—”
She groaned, rubbing her head. None of this made sense. None of this made sense. Her eyes gravitated towards another young man, with hair as blue as the hue that had covered the room previously, and who had barely as much as rose out of where he sat. "Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this whole thing is insane?!" She appealed to him. Soon enough, Orpha felt her backside meet a stool at a nearby table, leaning her chin on her metallic hand.

“Oh, Celestials, what in the hells have I been sucked into?”

Lucoco Chocoberry

Crashing The Phantom

As they got deeper into the forest, the atmosphere change into a more eerie one. Lucoco thought about backing down once, but the she heard some faerie's giggle. That means they're on the right way! Keep going!

Sure enough, they finally able to spot a spring in front of them, but not the usual spring because the moogle could see the glittering powder scattered around the spring.

"Fairy powder kupo!!"

Lucoco shouted excitedly as she ran to the spring. Unfortunately though, she was interupted by a phantom blocking her way. Then another phantom appeared to their right side, then another one at their rear. They were surrounded. Their ambush nethod reminded her of those thugs in the market that like to demand money from anyone foolish enough to use a certain alleyway.

The mog knight was irritated at the phantoms for blocking the way to their destination, but she couldn't supress her grin too. She was almost bored to death since they enter the forest so these whatever would be good opponent to flex her muscle. She turned her head to the group behind her, still with the wide grin on her face.

"Anyone bored kupo? I DO!!" She then faced the phantom in front of her, sheathed her sword and held her buckler in front of her chest.

"Kupo! You evil-looking floating-robe!" She should saying 'die' instead of kupoing there, but oh well. Her battle cry was followed by her first attack at the phantom as she launched herself into the phantom in an attempt to bash it with her buckler in a short burst of high velocity collision.

Sicarius noticed the white light over his head a little too late, suddenly it swallowed him. When he opened his eyes he was standing on thin air before a goddess. It kind of reminded him of the dream he had just had about the dragons. The dragoon listened intently to the words of the goddess and then those of her messenger. He soaked it all in before he began thinking as others argued.

Lord Bahamut is my enemy huh, the Dragon God himself. Perhaps I was destined all along to be among these warriors. My dream and the fact I may have glimpsed him are no coincidences. Destiny aside, this an opportunity for me to become a legendary dragoon. Being one of these Warriors of Light will inevitably bring me into conflict with Lord Bahamut.

Contrary to the ones who were panicking Sicarius made a firm statement. “I accept my berth. I must admit my intentions may not be so pure or good. This gives me the chance to challenge Lord Bahamut then so be it!” Sicarius Highwind started spinning his spear and planting it into the ground. He had no doubt, concern, or weakness in his expression.

Isryin Wardott
Ready to React
HP: 100%
Ah, a spring. The little mercenary trainee had no idea of how one was supposed to react to the body of water the party had just found. She guessed it was... beautiful to look at? And the stillness of the environment could have been deceiving towards them, inspiring each of their members to forget about the imminent, lurking threat of these woods. What was the word people use in these situations? Relaxing. Or was it tranquil? Isryin couldn't be sure, the concept of being relaxed itself was already quite difficult for her to even begin grasping.

How did one know tranquillity without being able to actually know tranquillity? The jarring nature of emotions had once more left her inside with an endless thought spiral.

Here was that noise again, the angry growl. They were being followed, the silver-haired Pugilist had been aware of this much, that the forest's native creatures didn't like their presence there. A fight seemed unavoidable, and as the multiple groans grew more violent and threatening, Isryin had found herself unconsciously reaching for her pair of blades, the self-preservation instinct just that deeply entwined on her own being at this point.
Still, she never attacked first. Simply exchanging glares with the trio of phantoms blocking their paths, focusing is one at a time, Idocrase-colored gaze restless bouncing from a potential target to another potential target. Waiting, patiently, like a cat preparing itself to pounce.

The cheerful Moogle had shown absolutely no restraint in being the first one to provoke the phantoms, stating that she was 'bored'. Isryin couldn't understand boredom, and even less comprehend why something like that would be worth risking oneself on a battle they could very well be avoiding by turning back. But alas, it was too late now. There would be a counter-attack, there would be an assault of hits by the natives' side. No avoiding it anymore.

Firm on her 'not hitting first' stance, the girl brought her daggers in front of her body, standing in a guard up position. From there, it would be child's play to switch either to a defensive or an offensive form, whichever she deemed needed as soon as an attack got sent her way. She kept eyeing the two phantoms adjacent to her attentively, in a ping-pong gaze, as she remained alert towards which of them would make their move towards her first.

"...So, that's how it is." And with nothing more than that soft muttering escaping the young man's lips, he rose from his seat. He glanced around, now deciding to take note of the others who had been designated as "Warriors of Light" - particularly at the woman who seemed to be taking this development the worst. In any case, this coincided with his goals. Bahamut, Shiva, Ramuh - the three of those Gods were already entities that he had been planning to seek out. Though, their hostility was rather odd - particularly Ramuh who was traditionally a benevolent god. It'd be something the young Summoner would need to research. As he opened his grimoire, he silently began to head towards the door.

"...If it's those three... Ifrit and Titan will be necessary... And I must pass the Trial of the Sword..." His voice barely rose above the level of a whisper as his mind raced and he sauntered through the other tavern goers who seemed to be giving him odd looks at this point. His path was set at this point - the Phantom Forest, where a Fairy would grant him a blessing. He knew little of this 'Sylph', truth be told - perhaps she was linked to Garuda? Regardless, what happened wasn't easily replicable with the magic of mere mortals.

And so, Es stepped through the doors of the tavern. Retrieving his map from the confines of his coat, the young man began to walk towards the Phantom Forest - if they decided to accept this calling, then they'd catch up with him anyways. His path was set and his steps decisive.

The goddess asked me and all of you," He proceeds to look at everyone in the room while he continues with his words. "She is alone in her cry of help. The gods aren't too happy with humans, I can give you proof!" He proceeds to pick a rose from his body as he blew on it, letting a few petals fly while a pink wind showed some kind of projection. It was a few flashing images of what man has done to their world that they created. "I suspect that they want to re-create the world, one where humans aren't present." Ventus steps near the door way of the tavern and turns his head one more time to the girl. "If you don't want to join me, then I won't force you. Please choose wisely." After what he had said, he walks out of the tavern and follows the white-haired man.

The wind was cold, the moon was bright, some kind of light in the forest could be seen. He dashes towards the man and stops his movement for a second. "Excuse me, sir. I believe you fully don't know the way in the forest if you charge in like that." He says with a smile while he proceeds to turn to the forest and say, "Faeries and Phantoms! He asks in a grumpy voice, "Well, if it ain't Rose-Boy with some old dude. Did ya' get a body to fuck now?" The phantom laughs as Ventus hide behind his roses. "J-just le-lead the w-way!" Everyone seemed to have had their own takes on the situation- the only one close to feeling how he did seemed to be the drunk lady. Well, if this goddess seemed to think they'd all work together perfectly, she might have another thing coming- unless they could get past their differences. But, he still didn't even know if he'd be going on this trip to begin with. Why should he, what would he have to offer?

... But, then again, what was he going to do if he refused? If the world was really to be wiped as the young man had described, would he just be waiting for the demise to come upon everyone? As it stood, he had nothing to lose. His life was in limbo, and this, just maybe, was the way out. He'd finally do something meaningful... And while he didn't know what he would be doing to help, this goddess surely saw something. And so, without another word, he ran upstairs to his booked room in the tavern and gathered his things.

Might as well take everything... Except his guitar case, that'd take up an arm. So, he removed the guitar from its container and used the strap to sling it across his back. What about his trumpet? That would likely take up a hand as well. So, though likely to net him a charge for "damage to property" if he was caught, he removed a glove and used one of his sharp, long claws to rip a skinny sliver from the bed's blanket, tying both ends around two parts of the trumpet, and using it as a makeshift sling as well.

All ready!.. Aside from his cakes. He'd nearly left the room without them. What use would they be? Not much. But one box couldn't hurt. So, he took one, and left the last two on the torn blanket for the room, and took a moment to etch the word "sorry" on the top box with his claw before sprinting out of the room. From his pocket, he heard his coins in his small wallet jangle. Good, couldn't forget his money...

As he ran out of the tavern, he made sure to slam a few coins on the counter as a tip for his stay, and burst out the door. Looking this way and that, he spotted the young man with another, slightly more mature-looking one a short distance away. Keeping sure not to break the flow of their conversation, he waited until he heard no more voices from them, nor the phantom they were talking to before trotting up.

Sicarius was hot on the heels of the Fox person and the guy with flowers coming out of him. The rose man himself hot on the heels of someone who departed earlier whispering to himself. Sicarius didn’t need any further convincing for this adventure. He knew what he must do and trusted the man with the roses knew the way forward. Of course Sicarius could take off trying to hunt Bahamut but that process is most likely I’ll advised. Luckily, Sicarius has chosen to follow the path that seems to had been carved for the Warriors of Light.

Carved out path it turned out to be as Sicarius bore witness to an embarrassing exchange between the rose man and the phantom. Then suddenly a path lit up through the forest. They were like stars pulled out of the sky and used light the trail ahead. It seems the first checkpoint of this adventure, the Faerie Village, would be a smooth start.

Varian felt a a strange mix and guilt and amazment as Ventus used some form of magic to show what humans had done to the world. On one hand he felt bad because he was a human meaning he was part of the problem, but on the other hand, that display of magic using the rose was pretty cool and quite pretty. It had been quite a while since the spellblade had seen and particularly unique and interesting magic, and in some small way it reignighted some of his passion for it again, it was nice seeing magic used for something other than just fighting, like he used it for, even if it was displaying some slightly depressing images.

The young man followed behind Ventus as he ran after Es and wondered how exactly they were going to get through the forest, it had been known to be full of creatures that wanted to keep people out. Fortunately, that question was about to be answered as the rose boy talked with a phantom who opened a way for them as well as make a funny, if slightly inappropriate, a comment which made Varian giggle a bit
"Thank you Mister Phantom, it's lucky you're on our side, I'd hate to have to treck through this forest without you creatures on my side, it would be hellish trying to get through."

He then took a second to properly inspect all the people who were there with him, they were certainly a... 'colourful' group of individuals to say the least. Then, however, something struck him, he didn't know who anyone was, and he could hardly give them names based off of their main features, like rose boy and metal-arm lady, that would just be rude. Taking a deep breath to gain steel his resolve, Varian raised his voice a bit so everyone could hear him "I realised that none of us has been properly introduced to each other, so perhaps now would be a good time? My name is Varian Amberstar! It's nice to meet all of you!"

The Mog Knight’s buckler assault would have connected rather well with the Phantom…if it were not an ethereal being. Lucoco would have knocked it clean down to the ground with the impact, though, instead, it found her stumbling through the visage with the buckler. The Phantom hardly reacted, instead, letting out a drawn-out moan to the action. It had turned, gazing down upon the Moogle, before it lifted its robed arm, revealing a hand with nails as sharp as blades. It retaliated to the Moogle’s attack, attempting to scratch at her.

The other two Phantoms groaned at the attack Lucoco had carried out on their companion. Though, instead of going after Lucoco, the other two turned to some members of the group they surrounded, intent on carrying out their wrath upon them. One of the Phantoms turned to Isryin, raising its own arm to swipe at the Puglist who already had her blades out, but was playing a defensive card.

The third of the group, however, had stood well back, watching both of its companions carry out physical attacks towards the assailants. After a few moments, the third Phantom raised both of its arms, grey, shrivelled arms with the same lengthy and sharp nails as the other two and let out a prolonged moan. Only a few moments later, a sphere enveloped the party. It was a dull grey in appearance, equal to the weather of that of a rainy day, yet, purple sparks cracked along it like lightning. Each would notice the black wisps and cracks along it. Each would also feel somewhat drained all of a sudden, as if they had taken a large hit from a giant beast. Graviga had that effect on many people, most often draining three quarters of your health.

Meanwhile, the Faeries that had been splashing water at each other, giggling, or simply taking the time to relax under the water of the steaming spring, were already screaming and yelping. Many had found shelter behind mushrooms or within the holes of trees, waiting to see the outcome of this particular fight. Others braced themselves in case they too, would have to join the team of Phantoms in defending themselves and their home.
