Other Fears?

Be honest, everyone has at least a couple. Of course if you feel it’s too personal, you don’t have to share, but if you’re willing, what are your fears?

I have quite a few of them. Some of them are really common and some of them are weird. Here’s my list:

1. Needles. Even innocent sewing needles. I have to get my blood drawn every now and then and I absolutely hate it. It makes me sick to my stomach just to think about.

2. TVs that aren’t turned on. Laugh if you want, it’s just a strange fear I’ve had since I was a child. I had a tv in my room that was covered with a blanket when it wasn’t in use. I still have that fear now, but I’m better about it. I at least can be in the same room.
3. Moths. I don’t like insects in general but moths freak me the hell out. The way they just mindlessly flutter around is just...ick
4. Grasshoppers. Like moths, they’re freaky. And the idea of one jumping on you...
5. Spiders. I shouldn’t have to explain this one since it’s pretty common
6. Snakes. Again, common enough it shouldn’t warrant an explanation.
7. I also get really freaked out at loud noises.

Honestly, I'm a huge coward. I'm afraid of pain, of illnesses (specially Alzheimer's), a good share of animals, and almost everything that can cause me straight up physical harm. I'm also a little afraid of confrontation, but I try to power through that one. Funnily enough one thing I'm not afraid of is heights, which is odd because I'm in the only one in my family who isn't.

With that said, my biggest fear is not so straightforward. The thing I fear the most is my own imagination, by which I mean it produces the results of my fear. There's this thing called "call of the void", and it matches what happens to me relatively well: Sometimes, randomly, if I see a car coming my brain plays out a scene of that car crashing right in front of my face. There's no pain and of course it doesn't really happen, but so vivid is that temporary image of the cars clashing onto one another, the force of the impact, glass shards cutting into my skin... I still end up terrified, sometimes it can make me jump or get me out of breath.

There's more to it, but that's about it.

Omg I completely feel you on that, especially the last part. My mind always goes to the worst case scenario of literally anything, especially when I’m nervous of something, and it’s so vivid I don’t know it’s not real until after. Some people think I’m schizophrenic because of this. I’m also really afraid of sickness as well, especially throwing up

With me it's less a fear of being sick, and more of a fear of those dangerous sicknesses which makes me averse or more averse than one would usually be to things that could potentially get me infected. Getting sick is usually fine if a bit of a pain... unless I have to go to a hospital. I have a bit of a trauma there pertaining them shoving a tube up a certain part of my body...

I have trauma relating to hospitals too, but it’s nothing like that. I really don’t like getting into too much details but when i was a child I was put into a psychiatric ward 14 times across the span of 3 years, and most of the times I didn’t even need to be there. The staff there weren’t very nice and some of them were even abusive. They gave shots out to innocent kids who weren’t even doing any harm like they would be giving out candy on Halloween...to this day there’s a kid who was 4 at the time who I can still hear screaming. Recently some obnoxious jerk at school basically undid all the measures I took to keep myself from having flashbacks. The worst part is I take medicine and I have to go to an actual hospital for doctors appointments and to get my blood drawn.

I got some good memes
1. The weird existential fear of reality not even being real, as if it’s an illusion of some sorts. The thought of nothing existing before the Big Bang scares me to my very core and almost makes me pee myself, as well as the vastness of our universe, and if there’s anything beyond it. It all feels really weird and kinda purposeless you know?

2. The thought of there being a literal multiverse.

3. Oh yeah, and aliens. That too!

You’re a villain alright, just not a super one!
Spiders (not the tiny innocent ones in the corners of a room, reasonably sized ones), and hurting myself. The former gets me branded unreasonably afraid, but the latter is the reason why I’ve never broken a bone or sprained anything.

Needles make me super uncomfortable, but I wouldn’t call myself afraid of them.

I'm cursed, I'm not particularly afraid of anything that's actually supposed to be scary (horror tropes do nothing to me) buuuut as a tradeoff I am afraid of just like.. whales. And airports. And empty malls. And leeches (thanks, A Series Of Unfortunate Events). Stuff that shouldn't really be remotely scary..

A thing I am super scared by is the idea of being experimented on, or surgery. I hhhhate the idea of someone like,, cutting me up, e u g h.
Or anything being done to me where I lose sentience/control.

They're gross, but generally accepted as not actually dangerous iirc? So I figured they're not a common fear
Whether they are accepted as dangerous or not, I do believe people are still generally scared of them. In fact they are scared to them to the extent they are used in high quality haunted house type attractions, like the London Dungeon.

Another example of a harmless insect that is still scary is daddy long legs. Those things are freaking terrifying

I'm going to bring a weird one to the table. Cattle grates scare the hell out of me, have since I was small. I always worry my foot will get stuck and that'll be it for me somehow. I'll honestly be surprised if anyone else has this

Being alone, like in the middle of Chernobyl or something alike with no humans or any sort of life for miles. Just irks me the wrong way.

Oh and spiders I guess.

I really hate driving over bridges, specifically over water! If I'm not driving, I'm sinking down in the backseat and avoiding looking out the window. If I'm the one driving, everyone has to be dead silent and I'm going to the middle lane, and I'll just stare straight ahead.

I have a lot of fears, but one of the worst has got to be needles - the ones used for medical stuff. I'm fine with sewing needles, though, and considering the amount of time I've pricked my fingers with them, you'd think I'd come to terms with the needles actually designed to draw blood, but no. In a similar vein (ha), surgery, and hospitals in general.

Also, corrosive or caustic chemicals, and most insects.

Death, insects, and getting food poisoned.

I have an irrational fear of death and food poisoning, they are the worst.

I fear I- or somebody else will die. I am afraid mostly of chicken and biting into it raw or not fully cooked.

I have fear niddles, snakes, spiders, scorpions. The usual fears that I lot of people have. However I also have fears that are much more personal.

I'm afraid of taking with attractive girls face to face. Some of you might laugh but I really suck at being straight forward when it comes to picking up girls. The fear failing is making me nervous and even clumsy. So that's one of my biggest fears.

Also I fear of loneliness but that doesn't really count cause I'm kinda already lonely.

You misspelled needle so I was confused about what you meant for a second. I genuinely thought for a few seconds you were afraid of nipples.

🤣 Ha ha! Lol YES! Nipples are scary! Aren't they?

Actually I meant needles so sorry for my mistake.

I have all the generic fears: spiders, clowns, deep water, etc.
But I also have some super weird fears which everyone in my life judges until I actually explain them:
  • Touching carpets with my hands ; yes, very very weird, but my hands will go numb and also tingle at the same time? it's so hard to explain, but it makes my anxiety skyrocket and cause my body to freak out
  • Things going in my ears ; I used to have a recurring nightmare that rats would claw themselves into my ears, so I can't leave my ears uncovered when I sleep, nor can anything go near my ears or I freak out. It's even weirder because I love rats and I'm not scared of them at all
  • Vomiting ; this makes a lot more sense when I put it into context. I was, like, almost bulimic, but got myself out of it before it became a real big problem. And since then, I've been scared of vomiting. Every time I do, I scream for help and cry so much, and I hit things and have panic attacks, it's ridiculous
I don't know if that was too personal and disgusting, but it's nice to tell people I don't know what I'm scared of, as usually I can't tell people I do know. ((:

I have a fear of heights, mirrors, the dark and of Black/Dark water. Use to have a fear of literally dying but not anymore. Though at the same time it's fun confronting them and experiencing an adrenaline rush from doing so. It's weird.
