  THE GODS NEVER DIED. ​
  
  The 21st century has suited them well— modern power carries on the shoulders of money and image, that which the immortals have taken to so effortlessly. Divinity now rides in expensive cars, wears luxury suits and lives in sprawling homes, molding olympus into a multi-billion dollar glass high rise. But there are memories of the old ways which they are unwilling to abandon: their pets of ancient beasts and their reach into the depths of the underworld. They are trigger-happy with the punishments that they hand down to mortals.
  
  Age has not made the gods forgiving.
  
  In 2022 it is not uncommon for a friend, of a friend, of a friend, to be one who’s forsaken. Stories are told about their coming downfall, embellished whispers that warn of mortal fates worse than death. To be named as one of the doomed often means you’re condemned to isolation, either intentionally or not; the god-fearing among the population typically avoid the fated and watch from afar in sick fascination.
  
  In desperation for order, the mortals of the world have tried to create some structure, governments came together to found an organization to aid and monitor these cursed mortals—a well-kept database of registered curses, countdowns, and notes on coming fates. With curses stitched to people’s names through identification cards and mugshots in online catalogues, these numbers walk the world exposed, volatile. For ease of control, this establishment has now asked a handful of the doomed to come together in a single location, a favor which is more voluntary for some than others.
  
  These fourteen fated may say there’s some triumph in finding solace in each other. A way to reverse their fortunes and one day live their ordinary lives in peace. The gods would scoff, however—for this is no victory to be remembered only a CAUTIONARY TALE.
  
  
  
• 
  SOME THINGS TO BE AWARE OF:
  
  I. Your character's actions have consequences.
  
  II. Some curses can kill your character and those around them.
  
  III. A majority of the population is scared shitless of the fated and Gods alike.
  
  IV. The database is always watching.
  
  Ⅴ. Don't take everything seriously.
  
  
  BASICS. You guys know the drill by now— no god modding, no intentionally excluding players, no leaving triggers untagged, no being a jerk. Have fun, be a decent human, and everything should go smoothly!
  
  ACTIVITY. Activity is, of course, really important for any group’s survival. That being said, I absolutely understand that the rp cannot (and should not) take priority over real life, so there will be a limit of two weeks before you’ll be warned about inactivity. After receiving that heads up, you will have twenty-four hours to post or message the gm, after which your character space will be reopened. Please understand, however, that this is all incredibly flexible— basically, as long as you show that you’re invested in your character and this group as a whole, you don’t have to worry about going anywhere. Just communicate, and you’ll be golden.
  
  DRAMA. Any rp needs that sweet, sweet, IC drama to survive, so it’s always encouraged! Obviously, though, this same drama should not extend out into the ooc world. If you’re having difficulties with anyone that you need help with, don’t be afraid to message the gm and surely we can sort something out. There are very few plotlines that would be turned down in this group, but if you have any ideas for your character that could drastically impact the others, clearing it first would be appreciated. Also, due to the mature nature of this RP, no characters or writers under eighteen are allowed.
  
  ETIQUETTE. Please be considerate towards your fellow writers. Choose themes that won’t be impossible to read or navigate, don’t leave potentially triggering posts untagged, and generally just keep each other in mind. Romance is encouraged as a subplot. If you are going to write anything nsfw, please follow rpn rules & regs.
  
  FACECLAIMS. All fcs should be over the age of eighteen. It doesn’t matter what they have in the way of resources, and you are more than welcome to not use gifs if you don’t have any.
  
  SKELETONS / CONNECTIONS. Your character’s gender, age, etc. do not need to align with the original myth at all, they are merely jumping off points for character creation (you don’t even have to use them). Characters are welcome to be human or demigod so long as they are not immortal or invulnerable.
  
  PLOT POINTS. It is entirely possible that through the course of the roleplay, your character will be subjected to something at the hands of their curse; illness, injury, loss, even death. But before any significant plot drops (ie the database), you always will be approached about how okay you are with all of it, and you don’t have to worry about being surprised with anything you’re uncomfortable with. In the rare circumstance that it makes sense for your character to be killed off (and you’ve agreed to it), you will not be removed from the group unless you would like to be. Instead you can create a new character to take the old one’s place, and we can even work together to figure it out. Also, just because a character dies, doesn’t mean they have to stay dead.
  
  OOC. Discord will play a large part in this group, so connecting there is important. We’ll use it for plotting, non-plot heavy database communication, as well as voting on plot points, holding both ic and ooc events, and just to have a general space away from RPN to hang out! _{If this gets enough interest then I'll link the server.}
  
  HAVE FUN! If you're excited and passionate about this group, it should treat you well! However, if at any point you feel as though you have lost muse or are otherwise no longer enjoying yourself, please feel no stress about bowing out. Writing is meant to be fun, and if it begins to feel like a chore you will receive no hard feelings about your exit so long as you notify the gm. Otherwise, enjoy yourself!

  Database Facility 8 is one of the newest facilities on the North American continent, housed within the small town of Goodsprings, Nevada. Just under an hour away from Las Vegas, Database Facility 8 is the closest to the sprawling glass spire of Olympus which sits at the heart of the strip.
  
  The fated, having been cursed by one god or perhaps multiple, have been offered sanctuary here. In exchange for their safety, the Database collects and observes information about each individual fated’s curse. The data is then sent and exchanged with Olympus and supposedly the Olympians themselves. The fated are told that this data will one day release them from the bonds of fate—but whether that happens during their lifetime remains to be seen. The Database and by extension, the Gods will provide trials for the fated to complete and failure will not be an option.
