Who said anything about skills? =)

Heya Gang! I caught an error on my part in my most-recent post and I'm here to edit it (and make you aware of that edit).

"FOR YOUR RAID AND RESCUE OPERATION, CAPTAIN PIPER HAS AUTHORIZED YOUR USE OF OUR CVR-3 RIFLEMAN-CLASS THIRD GENERATION CYCLONES. THE BROADSWORD'S ORGANIC CREW WERE CREATIVE IN THEIR WEAPON USE, ESPECIALLY OUR RECON MARINES WHO OFTEN USED A MYRIAD OF RANGED ARMS..."
(bold mine)

"RECON MARINES" has been changed to MARINE FORCE RECON, their true role on the Broadsword. Pardon my error! =)

Honor and fun,
Dann =)

Heya Sherwood Sherwood and Psychie Psychie ! Read in-game then...

The Wild Cards are dropping for this raid and rescue mission very shortly and, so far, you don't yet know who is flying what. So...

Psychie Psychie Make a weapon category selection for Toph's one-handed pistol-style weapons (in Toph's case, does she want ballistic or energy pistols?). Then make a bird selection (Super Valkyrie, Ajax, or Stealth Logan), please.

Sherwood Sherwood Make a weapon category selection, please (energy rifle with grenade launcher, sniper rifle, missile launcher, or some other preference) or Samantha's just going to give Mario "something with a heavy hit it to it." (That's the "surprise me, Samantha!" option!)

Kaerri is busy in Real Life but I'll see if I can ask her what her bird and gun preferences are. =)

Last but not least, who would you like Professor Stein to fly with?

Using my player knowledge, I was thinking a pair of EP-40's for the Cyclone, if that is ok for my dual wield skill?

And for the Ajax, do I have any of the wing hard points taken up with Cyclones? If not, for my missile payload, I would like to go with 30 of the Plasma Mini Missiles, and 10 HEAP Short Range missiles.

Finally, thank you for my twin pulse lasers on the Ajax! I'm ready to rock!

There is this weapon from the New Generation book that I am wondering if it is available. It is on pg 57 of the book:

Armor Piercing Cannon
Experimental Protoculture-Powered Rail Gun
This is an experimental light anti-tank weapon (LAW) that utilizes miniaturized magnetic rail gun technology. It is only possible to make the rail gun as small and portable as it is due to the use of Protoculture as an energy source. It does impressive damage, but the armor piercing tungsten darts it fires are hard to find. However, a competent weapons engineer can manufacture them if he has a supply of tungsten and other more common metals, as long as they are ferrous (iron), but damage is half for substitute metal. While this weapon is usually mounted on a vehicle or as part of a fortification, it can be used as a large, hand-held weapon by Cyclones, ASC power armor and cyborgs. Only humans with a P.S. of 25 or greater can fire the weapon without penalty, but even they feel the kick. Anyone with a P.S. less than 25 is -4 to strike unless it is braced on a hard surface like a brick wall, or used from a prone position (the weapon comes with a bipod), or mounted to a vehicle or fortified position like a machine-gun.
Note: This weapon is used by Lunk in "Paper Hero."

Primary Purpose: Anti-Armor/Anti-Mecha .
Weight: 25 pounds (11.3 kg).
Range: 4,000 feet (1,219 m) .
Mega-Damage: 1D4x10 M.D. for a single shot, 2D4x10 M.D. for a short, four round burst.
Rate of Fire: Each single shot or burst uses one of the gunner's melee attacks.
Payload: 18 rounds in a side-mounted magazine, or 60-round belt. One Protoculture canister is good for 240 single shots or 60 bursts.

If possible, I would like a couple of the 60 round belts, along with a pair of Plasma Mini Missile launchers mounted on the Cyclone's forearms.

If the rail gun is not available, I'll go with the EP-37 for my primary weapon.

For the missile loadout in the Super Stealth Logan I'm in, can I get a mix of 14 HEAP Shorts and 14 Plasma Shorts for its internal supply?

Disclaimer: My head is giving me trouble again today. Please give my words benefit of the doubt and forgive any of my typos because I'm not expressing myself as clearly as I would like today (or yesterday, or the day before that, ha ha ha...). Love you guys!

Thank you for providing examples of what you and your characters are interested in. That helps! There are other weapons in the game that you will see shortly. You remember that part about the Broadsword's Marine Force Recon having "custom built" weapons? Just keep that line in your heads for a little while, if you please. It might bring a smile to your faces later down the road =)

In the spirit of keeping things simple, here's what we've got:

1. Toph (Ajax, payload as provided, Professor Stein, twin energy handguns for Cyclone).

2. Mario (Super Stealth Logan, payload as provided, cannon for Cyclone).

3. Elinor (Super Valkyrie, payload TBD, energy rifle with grenade launcher for Cyclone).

Thank you everyone! Now I can get this show on the road! =)

So do I. Believe you me. Thanks, you! =)

Finally, thank you for my twin pulse lasers on the Ajax! I'm ready to rock!

1. To be precise, the arm-mounted weapon is an ion pulse cannon. At least in Rifts, there are laser-resistant armors. Ion weapons tend to have shorter range than lasers but pack a big punch.

2. As for your acquiring them, my honor dictates that I tell you the Wild Cards are partly to credit for that. You may remember some of the goodies you got when you rescued Colonel Sharp from General Steele's safehouse.

In the story, back to the scene where Hitomi talks about General Steele's hard drive, you'll remember mention of several blueprint goodies including an upgraded EU-11.

At the risk of telling, not showing, (the following is Out-Of-Character information only), the soft components that you stole with the Logans contributed to that ion gun now on the Ajax. Captain Piper, Hitomi, and the Broadsword did the rest.

For me, part of the fun of having an overactive imagination and creating characters like them is remembering that they act independently of the PCs and make cool things like that happen.

So please don't think my having ADHD is all bad. Along with the headaches and migraines, there are some nice benefits. =)

Elinor would like whatever missile space is available after Cyclones (if any) to be split between HEAPs and plasma, please.

Psychie Psychie A helping hand if you're cool with it. =)

"I am your pilot. Our protocol is to now prepare to go into combat in order to rescue captured crew members and bring them back here.

The first statement is purely factual and logical, easy for a Core to accept. Besides, it probably knows Toph has piloted it before. But, having no feelings whatsoever, it does not care about that. It is not loyal to the people that built it, fly it, or maintain it. As Cera alluded to a little while ago, a machine's only loyalty is to its protocol. =)

"Our protocol" is where the second statement goes dead-wrong. Toph is seen as dictating to the Core what its protocol is. If, by some chance, Toph knew what the Core's protocol was, then the machine could comply in its world of facts and logic. But Toph's provided definition is completely false. And then istead to declare that Toph's protocol is (now) also the machine's protocol comes off as incredibly-inaccurate and commanding.

Elinor and Cera succeeded by working with the machines. It's fine to say "I require" and "I am your pilot." Those are statements from Toph's "protocol." Now Toph's challenge is to find a way to treat the Core not as a dumb tool but as a respected ally whose protocol will be followed. =)

It's supposed to be a learning process on a fun one at that! Edit away!

Psychie Psychie Like you, I have found the need to alter my last post. If you read it within the last hour or so, please reread it, and have fun! Toph has a little challenge here, doesn't she? =)

Hey Gang! Just look at this Nat 20! Have you seen this Nat 20 from Psychie Psychie ?

Toph thinks rapidly, then sends out, "Our enemies are those that threaten the safety of the Earth. We seek to protect the planet from an impending invasion from space, and the people being held captive are critical to our mission to make that happen. The defense of the planet is our overriding goal for the long term, but in order to achieve that, we need to to rescue our fellow team members. Will you allow me to Traverse with you?"

Way to turn that Ajax Core around, Psychie!

Honor and fun,
Dann =)

It is in the trying, pass or fail, that makes all the difference. =)

I've been waiting for the resolution of Toph's effort to talk to her Ajax before posting Mario's effort to chat with his. Just so you know I have not forgotten about this.

Heya Gang! Please read in-game, then click the spoiler. =)

Mission reposted for your convenience because I like you or something. =)

(From Colonel Sharp) "Here are your mission details, step by step:

1. Travel to the port city of Veracruz to Chessel Corporation's machining base. About two miles from the base, there is a heavily-armed outpost ("Outpost 5") with a single large reinforced door.

2. Blow your way into the outpost. Expect opposition from the base's automated defenses in the form of drone aircraft and anti-aircraft guns. The outpost's reinforced door should take around 40 total short-range missiles to destroy. This will gain you access to the underground highway the outpost protects. Once in, opposition from the outpost should cease.

3. Park your aircraft just beyond the destroyed door to the outpost. Professor Stein will stay with the mecha and act as your intelligence officer while you are in the base via the polyphonic nexus. Albert has tangled with Chessel Corporation before and can help you. Hitomi will be feeding him information from the Broadsword's bridge via Captain Piper.

4. Detach your Rifleman Cyclones from the aeronautical veritechs and Traverse with them. The Sams loaded your Cyclone-based armament with the Cyclones. Hitomi says, your traversing with the Cyclones means losing your link with the veritechs, so expect that.

5. Use the Cyclones to drive your way through the outpost's underground highway until you reach the Broadsword's Recovery Team in the main base. And, troops, it's a big, big base. The team is trapped inside of the main section. Your Cyclones are fitted with the means to track down the team via their distress beacons.

6. Once you reach them, find a way to open the main door from the inside to free the team.

7. Escort the team to your veritechs, then once in your veritechs, provide escort the Recovery Team to the Broadsword waiting in the Gulf of Mexico.

Since the reinforced door will take some hard hitting to get through, Toph will go ahead and run with ten HEAP Short Range Missiles for her wing pylons, please.

Sounds good. How about you, Kaerri and Sherwood?
