Cool news! We may have a new Wild Card joining us! We are in talks and discussing details. Out of respect, I am not giving out their name in case they decide otherwise.

Here's how I am working this. If I get a "yes" from them, I will then ask you in private Conversation for your feelings. And if everyone agrees, we'll have another member in Robotech: Broadsword!

How does that sound to you?

Do you all understand Spaceman Sam's message to the Wild Cards and why it worries "him"? I'm not certain I wrote it clearly enough. I'll edit it if necessary.
 
He's basically pointing out that if we show up and the ASC escort realizes who we are, we've blown any chance of our continued existence remaining secret, right? I mean, I'm not sure we finally decided to go that route, but this would eliminate it from our possible options later.
 
Kaerri is correct and Psychie is in a wise frame of mind.

As for Sherwood, who can say? The Lord of Puns is probably thinking up something crazy! Wooooi! =)
 
"King of Puns" huh? I like that title! I am pondering some ideas, but I'm not sure how well they will work.

Are they two seaters, like the Spartas?

All mecha (even the Logan) in my game are two-seaters. (If they weren't, you would have never been able to fly in against the Zeki-Zentraedi Assault Scout with only Valkyries.)
 
I have an 85% on my Field Armorer and Munitions Expert skill; can I use it to adapt the 105mm shells that are in my old tank to the 120 of the new tanks? Or show the Broadsword how to make shells for them?
 
I'm afraid not (to both). Short version? The Wild Cards don't have the time, knowledge, or the resources. Schematics found from another source are required. Here's why.

First, let's talk skills. Mario would know the Field Armorer and Munitions Expert skill is the "basic version of Weapons Engineer as it applies to infantry weapons (see page 183, Shadow Chronicles).

That said, the Weapon Engineer skill devotes itself to the complete understanding of weapon systems and power supplies (including the recharging of batteries and E-clips). The creation of high-tech physical mega-damage ammunition (mortar rounds, tank rounds, artillery shells, etc.) is not covered. In other words, Weapons Engineers can with time and resources design, create, and modify weapons of many different types. But nowhere that I found does it state any kind of understanding on how to create something very difficult like tank rounds. Especially from scratch. This is why Cera could create the tank, but not the ammunition for it. I'm sure you understand tank rounds are not just big rifle bullets - they are far more complex than that.

So, the question must be raised - in Robotech, how does one create tank rounds or rockets or missiles or any kind of mega-damage ammunition? Well, as far as I can tell, Robotech does not cover that. Anywhere. So instead, I've made schematics a thing. Find these in the world of Robotech: Broadsword, and the resources required to create them (which I'm keeping very simple), and with the help of the Broadsword, the militarily-educated Wild Cards are on their way to being one step closer to not needing outside help for their mega-damage needs.

As for the rest, even if Mario and Cera knew how to, trying to add 105mm rounds to a 120mm tank gun is a tremendous undertaking as Mario would have to go from round to round to round, individually, and frankly, Colonel Sharp does not have that kind of time. I don't know if you have a background in Real Life firearms, but even the idea of changing say, 9mm pistol ammunition to .45 caliber, is a gaping time sink in itself. Ask Killfire. He would tell you.
 
I am open to including a new skill involving the creation of these kinds of munitions (as Palladium tends to cover skills for people of action while crafting is... not covered so much). But until that time, I like the idea of schematics.

One more thing. You don't think I would go to the trouble of creating new Veritech tanks and never give out any ammunition for the main guns, do you?
 
Would the schematics thing be a new skill, or just an extrapolation off of the existing ones? I'm trying to get Mario as up and ready to work on the weapons of the tanks as possible.
 
And no, I never thought that I'd never get any bullets for the gun! I just wanted them for the upcoming fight.

Psychie, I was hoping someone would bring up the fact that your characters are still at wearing a ASC mega-suits! Well done! =)

And before I forget, there is another bonus that the Mjolnir possesses that the VHT does not. Has anyone else noticed that the VHT is the only transformable mecha in Robotech (pre Invid Invasion) that does not come with Special Bonuses (to Strike, Parry, etc.)?

I don't mean the Mecha Elite Combat Training (M.E.C.T.) bonuses. I mean the bonuses the mech itself gives the pilot regardless of their training. Those bonuses make a big deal of difference.

The Valkyrie, Ajax, and Logan veritechs all get Special Bonuses. That the VHT never came with them has always bugged me.

And so the Mjolnir has them. =)
