For centuries, the kingdom of Ateya has been home to humans and familiars alike. Where many other kingdoms and countries turned away another intelligent species, Ateya welcomed them, and sought to forge partnership between humans and familiars alike, creating a powerful and magical nation. The kingdom however, has recently been tense with is neighbours on accounts of witchcraft. Its neighbours have recognised that Ateya grows stronger as familiars flock to the kingdom, and seek to tear it down.
As a result, the Queen has released a statement calling those who are loyal enough to the kingdom to be soldiers, but it isn't enough. Other kingdoms are starting to make their moves, so she released a second order to a select few to form an elite force of powerful fighters, magicians, and their familiars. You're one of them who has received the royal order. The order reads:
Dear citizen of Ateya,
You are aware of the tension Ateya has with is neighbouring kingdoms as of late, and we are looking for people willing to fight for the kingdom.
The kingdom has noticed your skill and talents in combat and your bond with your familiar.
We believe your skills will be suitable, but not for the standard army. We invite you to join the Royal Warriors.
If you accept and wish to come for a briefing, report to the Ateya Palace on the fifth day of the coming week, at sunrise.
Bring your familiar.

Plot of Familiars: The Royal Warriors
The plot focuses around a group of elite, combat-proficient people and their familiars. They were summoned by Queen Cassie to act as her secret weapon against the other kingdoms. They are brought together by her summon and their first task is to investigate why the River Atyx has stopped flowing. River Atyx is crucial to the survival of Kingdom Ateya as its magical properties make the kingdom prosperous place. Without the river's waters, KIngdom Ateya is doomed within a year. Sickness and lack of magic will make the kingdom a vulnerable place to other competing kingdoms. Hence, it is the duty of the Royal Warriors to find out why the river has stopped, and to bring its waters back.
What's a Familiar?
A familiar is a sentient, autonomous species of magical animals. They used to exist all over the world, but many kingdoms refused to share their resources with another intelligent species and chased them out. Only King Ateya, first ruler of the Kingdom, welcomed them with open arms, for he believed that humanity and familiars could achieve so much more if they worked together.
Familiars introduced many different types of magic to the kingdom and have been around for centuries. A new tradition and the change of the way familiars ar introduced to the world is through assignment. When a child with magical blood becomes fifteen, they are assigned a familiar based off their aura and magical energy. The familiar's appearance and species is reliant on the child's aura and cannot be changed. The familiar is bonded to its assigned person until death. Any animal can be a familiar species, including some rarer species like dragons, griffins, phoenixes, and basilisks.
