Theodore 'Theo' Law (WIP)

images

Name - Theodore Law

Age - 55

Gender - Male

Appearance
Theodore is an old, wizened man who has been living above the average life expectancy of a normal someone in the wastes. A long growth of white hair covers his face, scraggly and shaven primitively with a combat knife. He is of average build and stature, surprising for a man of his age and career, and still possesses a hefty conditioned figure from his days in the Blue Water Monopoly. His eyes are bloodshot and a bitter stormy grey.

In terms of garb, Theodore prefers to wear the clothes of a salty-sea dwelling sailor, with a signature feathered tri-corn cap as an indicator of his position as the captain of the Way-Finder with thick rubber waders for boots. His choice of clothing mainly consists of thick, water-retardant, long sleeved overcoats in a navy blue color.

Personality
Theodore was once a thief. A dishonorable, profiteering, vagabond, charlatan who only thought about profit rather than the suffering and pain that he was causing to the inhabitants of the wasteland. That was back in his young days. After ageing and mellowing out in his fifties, Theodore has matured considerably since his days of piracy in the Carribean and the East Coast of the USA.

Acerbic, cynical and a man of few words; Theo is a man who is attempting to right the wrongs of the past by switching careers from a pirate to a Navigator of the waters. Theodore takes his role of Captain seriously onboard the Way-Finder and takes no guss from anyone. He is extremely protective of his own crew-mates, using the excuse that their deaths would be an offense to his status as a Captain in the waters of the East Coast, although it is merely to hide his affection for all of them. Theo still has his fatal flaws of greed and avarice, however much he tries to reign them in.

He does have a code of honor as Captain, though. He does not go back on a contract. He will not tolerate any uncivilized behaviour nor will he condone any acts that would be considered disgusting such as rape or brutal torture. Otherwise, he has no moral compunctions dealing with the most felonious of scum including slavers or raiders.

TRAITS
- Swindler - You know the tricks of the trade from the inside out! All prices of items that you sell increase by 75%! Unfortunately, the prices of all items that you buy increase by 25%.
- Knack of Poseidon - The water-ways favor you, Navigator. Your prodigious ability as Captain allows you to have a reduced chance of enemy encounters while controlling a water-borne vehicle as well as having the ability to fast-travel between locations while in water. However, your perception and luck decrease by -2 while you are on land.
- Experienced - You're experienced but not skilled. You gain a +1 to all of your S.P.E.C.I.A.L Skills but you are no longer unable to gain any experience at all.

EQUIPMENT

Long-Shore - Long-Shore is a heavily modified Orleans grenadier rifle stolen and taken during a raid on one of Napoleon's ships during the Enclave-Orleans War. As with all Orleans Grenadiers, Long-Shore is a modified grenade rifle that has been retro-fitted into the European designs of the musket. This has several benefits such as the fact that the rifle allows greater accuracy and range than most grenade rifles and can be used as a melee weapon in a pinch. Long-Shore has been modified with a high-definition scope along with having carbon-fibre parts for extra durability. Long-Shore can be loaded with a number of options, from high-explosive, to inciendary, to plasma and electromagnetic pulse grenades.

Revolution - Revolution is a French Heavy Calvary Sword that is a nostalgic keepsake of Theodore from his pirating days. Unlike the 1796 version, Revolution updates its brutality with cutting-edge 22nd century modern technology.

Tide-Keeper - Tide-Keeper is Theo's back-up when in case he's completley out of options. Which in case, a N99 10mm Pistol can never go wrong in an emergency.

Coat of Arms - Theo's attire is more than just a fashion statement. The underlayers include several layers of reinforced kevlar and polymer carbon weaves sewn in vital areas to protect Theo from potentially harmful fire.

Name: Matthias "Matt" Dalliere

Age: 32

Gender: Male

Appearance: A rather young-looking man, Matthias doesn't really look his age. He's rather handsome thanks to his mother's genes and this catches the eyes of many. With a smile usually on his face, he looks younger than he really is. He stands at a height of 5'10" and has a lean and toned body thanks to his time as a mercenary; however conditioned it is, he still seems less strong than most men around him. He seems to sport a stub and jet black hair that he sleeks back whenever he is on the job but is messy whenever he's just chilling out. His eyes are a cold, green color where emotions don't seem to flow to anymore.

He is typically seen with his leather jacket, cargo pants, and boots. He also wears fingerless gloves with his weapons concealed in his body aside from his sniper rifle. Though he is part of the Waypoint, it's actually difficult to actually say for sure since he dresses differently from them. However, his clothing is water-retardant just in case.

Personality: Matthias is the kind of person who's laid back whenever he ins't doing anything serious. When not being ordered around, he's often seen gazing outside or maintaining his weapons for the next 'misunderstanding'. He can be easily talked out of doing these things in favor of talking or even just walking around. He likes listening to people, but rarely talks about himself. He's the type to nod and smile whenever someone's talking and offers his opinions when it is needed but keeps silent when it isn't expected of him. This doesn't mean he's mostly silent as someone can get him riled up to talking, depending on the subject. He really gets into the many beasts and nature in general - one of the reasons why he gets along with PEEWE so much.

He is loyal only to the captain of Waypoint - Theodore - and to the crew members. After his certain rollercoaster of a life, he decided that joining Waypoint would be beneficial to him and he hasn't regretted it yet. He has an innate want to survive, like everyone else. However, this has been recently overruled by his loyalty to the crew and the captain. While he wouldn't go out of his way to jump in front of a bullet for them, he would most certainly do so if he was ordered - or at least, he would shoot the shooter. Matt doesn't exactly have a good moral compass, having been raised without one, and thus sees everyone as fair game.

If there's anything that could crack his lazy and generally apathetic view on human life, it would be anyone who would harm his mother. One doesn't insult his mother and get away with it - this seems to be quite a repetitive occurrence because of his mother's choice of profession. It seemed to have died down and "flying-off-the-handle" Matt hasn't been seen in years. He genuinely cares for his mother because she was the only family he had left, aside from her co-workers who were more than willing to help take care of him as he was young.

Biography:
When you're born in the wasteland, it's mostly going to be an odd and exciting story. That is exactly what happened with Matthias. Born to a wild father and a prostitute mother, you know where it would lead. His father left Matthias to his mother and then went on to continue his wild adventures. Of course, growing up around prostitutes wasn't the most ideal of environments. His mother, however, didn't just immediately offer up Matthias to Madame to work. Oh no, this child was raised pretty properly for someone like her. She managed to teach him how to protect himself at all costs with the use of weapons and found out that he was a rather excellent gunner. Whenever they weren't learning together, they were working in the whore-house down south. While his mother was a prostitute, he was a mere waiter who went on from table to table giving their orders. As he grew up, he started to show great skill in marksmanship which caught the eye of one of the mercenaries working under the Blue Water Monopoly. After a bit of convincing, he was taken in as something of an apprentice.

From whore-house to battlefield, Matthias adapted quickly. Under the watchful eye of his mentor, he was able to gain somewhat of a good place in Blue Water Monopoly, among its many mercenaries. This meant that he has fought for one side - that one side being the Orleans Empire. This led to him having quite a good reputation with them. He had killed members of the Enclave through his makeshift sniper rifle that proved to be more effective than what it let on. He became the death from above as he rarely can be seen on the battlefield itself. If you hear the shot, someone most likely has been put down or at the very least, injured.

When he wasn't called in for mercenary work, he could be seen drifting from one place to another. This led to him getting acquainted with the PEEWE. Though he originally found them odd, as soon as they started sharing their knowledge of the environment, he became engaged. While he never became an official member of the group, as he never participated in any of their activist events, he was generally accepted among the populace. They were also responsible with teaching him about taking care of Myles the Bobcat when he was just a kit. They had introduced him to the occasional watching of Deathjaws in their natural habitat. It was fun, if he were to be honest.

Myles the Bobcat's story tied in well with the wanderer named Matthias. Abandoned when he was a kit, Myles was weak and powerless against the food chain in the Bayou. With predators at every nook and cranny, one wouldn't expect for Myles to have survived. Luckily, Matthias found him just before he was eaten. Matthias seized Myles before the Bobcat could swim one of the swamps of the Bayou. After that, Matthias swore to take care of Myles. After all, a Bobcat was a useful companion especially for a sniper like him. While he would have really preferred a Deathjaw, because those things were really going to be useful, he was very happy with getting Myles as a pet. He still dreams of getting a Deathjaw - he plans to name the Deathjaw Klein or Karry.

Matt has been thinking of visiting his mother for quite some time now. It had been two years since he's been out at that area so he didn't have a chance to see where she was now. Surely, she would still be there, but he wondered how she was doing. Their security wasn't much of a problem for him. He was excited to let her see how much Myles had grown up. Despite everything, he was still a guy who treasured his mother.

TRAITS

  • Trigger Discipline - While using Guns and Energy Weapons, you fire 20% more slowly but are 20% more accurate.
  • Stealth - Enemies rarely hear you coming! You are 30% less likely to be spotted by an enemy but suffers from 20% reduction on damage resistance.
  • Charmer's son - Charms seem to run in the family! You gain +2 Charisma whenever talking with the opposite sex, but suffers from a -1 penalty when talking with the same sex.
EQUIPMENT
  • The Black Death - Though a lot more menacing sounding than it really is, The Black Death is a heavily modified sniper rifle that he had acquired during his time with the Blue Water Monopoly. He has been tinkering with it ever since. Since its modifications, it has increased durability, increased accuracy and range. It has been modified to take any sort of ammunition available in Orleans - but he found it favorable to have .50 ammo. He also placed a suppressor on it whenever he needs to be stealthy.
  • Maria - A N99 10 mm Pistol which also has been fitted with a suppressor whenever needed. It was named after his mother since she had gifted it to him when he was old enough. He could always rely on it whenever he's in a pinch.
  • Combat Knife - He only doesn't have a name for this one... it does serve him well though.
  • Marksman's Wear - His seemingly harmless leather jacket and pants were actually reinforced with polymer so as to protect him from fire. Even though it wouldn't be as effective as many heavy armors out there, it has still proved to be useful. It also keeps things light, which is especially useful for him.
OTHER INFORMATION
  • Myles the Bobcat - An adolescent Bobcat nearing his maturity. He is rather loyal and is probably ten times more silent than his owner. When he's not in a fight, he's usually seen relaxing and overall just being lazy. Though the moment he senses that something is wrong, he immediately warns Matt, or any of his allies, through silent gestures which he has been trained to do.
  • He seems to be entirely uninterested in anything that has to do with 'love' but seems knowledgeable in the subject causing him to be a good outlet for relationship problems, and there is no lack of it in this world.
