War...War Never Changes
The year is 2292....five years after the Sole Survivor freed Boston from the threat of the institute. Eleven years since the Courier made their stake in Vegas to claim for their own independent nation. Fifteen years since the Lone Wanderer brought peace to the Capitol Wasteland and gave it genuine pure water. It's surprising how much can change in under two decades...but who's counting, right? New York City (oftentimes referred to as New New York by a faction known as the Cabbies) is a collection of nuclear wasteland, massive craters, and small settlements built within an irradiated Big Apple in the shadows of massive buildings that somehow still stand, somewhat similar to the Capitol and Boston areas. The citizens of this waste, and the faction therein, are far more occupied fighting their own struggles than focusing any direction to the west in any regard. But while they may not care too much...what of the world at large?

Thanks to the actions of the Lone Wanderer, the capitol is as close to 'ideal' as a nuclear wasteland can be, the water purification project designed by the Wanderers parents, and followed through by this hero, have ensured that pure and clean water is readily available. Through their actions as well, the east coast of the Enclave can be presumed dead.

Further west, Caesars Legion has collapsed in on itself. Caesar himself died shortly after the failure to captain the New Vegas damn, succumbing to his brain tumor. Legate Lanius, an ill fit successor with brutal tactics, drove the Legion to extinction with executions of all who failed to capture the damn. Without Caesar to keep him or his tactics in check, the Legate turned the Legion into a husk of itself, before having his throat slit in his sleep by his own praetorian guard. The legion died a slow, painful death, the bull succumbing to a cancer not to dissimilar to its leader. Legionaries have retired to what little lives they can afford, running from the past...and the NCR.

The Courier runs the Big Empty, with scientists inside, somewhat insane as they may be, utilized to efficiency as the courier uses their researching skill to revitalize and help build up New Vegas, the NCR unable to move further eastward through the territory due to the army of securitrons. With the backing of the BoS in the area, the Boomers, and other factions, New Vegas has become it's own beacon of civilization. The Enclave Remnants of the area, the men and woman who were old as dirt by this point, have not been heard from since, though some suspect the courier could still reach out to them. Though the NCR cannot move east through the Mojave, trade is sustained to some degree with the independent 'nation-state', though the NCR has almost no presence there as they may desire, save for the few routine patrols on the outermost outskirts of the desert.

To the south, near Boston, the tale of the Sole Survivor has run its course. Through maneuvering and selective interactions, somehow the Railroad, Brotherhood, and the Minutemen have existed, perhaps not entirely in harmony, but the Sole Survivor has somehow juggled these three groups together in the area, despite somewhat conflicting interests at time. This person, a relic out of time, often finds most of their time relegated to maintaining settlements, giving the Brotherhood red herrings on the Railroad, and in turn running the Railroad in circles to avoid being stormed by the Brotherhood. Perhaps by pleasing everyone, the Sole Survivor may never find a chance to rest, themselves?

That's all background though, and do you really care anymore than those in the Big Apple do? Or do you prefer your head in the sand, ignorant of the world at large? It's none of my business, either way. You probably care more about the city that never sleeps, with pigeons the size of your head and monsters in coastal waters, of a giant woman of oxidized copper, don't you?

Situated nearby the Capitol Wasteland which has started to come back from the dead thanks to pure water being readily available and radiation issues dwindling, and nearby Boston being it's own mess in the past few years, New York is likewise on the brink of it's own 'revitalization', for better or worse. Shadowy figures move behind the scenes and out of site, whispers of men of metal, super-geniuses, and soldiers without remorse have begun to circulate. Who are these people...what are their goals, and why are they becoming more active with each passing day? And are they perhaps related to why some settlements simply turn up entirely empty, traders arriving to find total ghost towns?

Scouting parties from the west, small bands of NCR forces, mostly caravan groups and ranger escorts, have had plenty of time, 11 years in fact, to begin to try to scout and map the uncharted lands out east. Nowhere near a military might or technological superiority, they've been wayfinders, making caravan agreements, peddling propaganda, and trying to obtain new tech and resources to send back home. The leading heads to this NCR grouping based in New York are a Colonel Wither, and a Ranger Veteran by the name of Jim Gardner. Despite their extremely differing leadership styles and personalities, they have managed to cooperate on their mission thus far. Neither can really give the other orders, as the Ranger groups are entirely separate from traditional NCR rank structure. The Colonel has no reason to listen to the Veteran besides a common cause, and vice versa. This of course means that the dichotomy can result in passive aggressive actions, or even altering of orders in the field. While the NCR most certainly cannot hope to expand to the other end of the coast, that's never stopped any nation from seeking commerce and knowing their continent.

The Cabies are one of the native dominant factions to New York (or New New York as they like to call it), based out of small ramshackle ports and the old taxi service buildings of the Old World. Entirely Neutral, no stakes in anything, they exist simply to make an honest living and stick together. No faction would dare to cross the Cabies, due to the fact that they alone know every path, nook, and cranny through New New York, and are the dominant force on passing through the city or anywhere else. Ultimately, it is better to pay your fair and not anger them, then risk losing rights to their services. Their personalities are a broad spectrum, as is their beliefs. Raiders, Brotherhood, and everyone in between can use their services...and even a few Raiders can find a home with the Cabies, though they must likewise take the 'Cabbie Oath', and 'behave' while on the clock. The leader of the Cabies is known simply as the Owner-Operator, and very few can lay claim to actually meeting the man.

The Ladies of Liberty are an all female group, almost Amazonian in this fact, based out of Staten Island beneath the Statue of Liberty, who somehow in spite of the Great War, stands tall, proud, and in one piece. An isolationist group, they have very little desire to interact with anyone off their island save for trading purposes, and men are barred from arrival under 'Liberties Grace', without express permission from Lady Liberty herself. What that exactly means however, is unclear...after all a statue can't talk...right? The faction is composed of ex-slaves, victims of trauma and broken homes, or women of fortune and soldiers who have been hired on as guards for the settlement. Guided by a strong moral compass and their own experiences, the Ladies of Liberty do not tolerate any degree of crime, and comitting an infraction has the severity of prison time or outright exile from the Island. Because of this somewhat authoratian lifestyle, peace is maintained by a group who'd be more than happy to never again have to enter the outside world.

The New York chapter of the Brotherhood is located in a commandeered bunker beneath Wallstreet, found empty shortly after the Great War destroyed the world. Originally meant to house the elite of the elite upper crust of New York, one of the most selfish arrived first and sealed the bunker behind him and his family, letting the other elites burn in nuclear fire. By the time the Brotherhood chapter located the bunker, the family was dead, murdered by the son who had become disillusioned with his fathers near facist rule of the bunker and his treatment of the family, before killing himself. The New York chapter also operate out of old Fort Drum, using it as a staging ground as well as where much of their military resources are kept. For whatever reason, the Brotherhood Chapter seems to have been entirely discarded, or forgotten about, by the Capitol chapter.

This can be considered a 'proper' interest check, in a way, as there had been one previously to decide what sort of story was run via vote. Because of that, rules are being posted here, and a follow up post will follow with character sheets, as well as an OOC Discord invitation if it's desired in the same post. For anyone outside of the previously pinged individuals, interest is still welcome to join as this is getting off the ground.

Rules and expectations
1. Communication is key! We're all going to be doing this fun, and as I work full time for a living I'd be a hypocrite to say 'post every day'. With that said, if you need a hiatus or to step away, that's a-okay. Just give your writing partners (or just myself) a little heads up. I'll work with you if life gets in the way and you can't commit to writing anytime soon, and that way no one else gets held up in a scene and the story can progress.
2. None of us are writers for a living. Unless you are, in which case, that's pretty amazing! But in theory, anyone can craft a paragraph at bare minimum, and that's what I'd request as a minimum post size. I'm not going to be insane about it and rule it with an iron fist, but at least give your writing partners something of substance to work with. Sometimes a scene doesn't need a lot said, othertimes you can write a novella. But as long as there's enough substance to continue the scene, why get strung out about it?
3. Respect to yourself, and others. This is a pretty big one, no one wants a hostile environment. This is a hobby, no one wants to be put down for doing their hobbies. A lot of people use this as a way to relax from a long day of this or that. With that said, I'll be doing my best to stick to the 'energy' Fallout as a setting presents, but I will not doom and gloom this to death. Healthy environment sort of thing for all parties OOC.
4. Means of communication. Not so much a rule, and just a thing to keep in mind. I can make an OOC thread if this gets off the ground, but really Discord seems to always work better thanks to real time communication and other options. With that said, majority rule and all that.

Oh, I'm sorry, did I forget to bow out?

I think there must've been a mistake. I don't do a lot of Apocalyptic settings that don't lean into either the surreal (Ie; Dogscape, SCP-5000 "Why?", or LISA: The Joyful) or the comedic.(Ie; Fallout 4, Ballmastrz 9009.)

You said you were leaning towards the more mall-ninja-y parts of apocalypse for people who want "Serious" and "Gritty" takes on the concept.

I must've forgotten to bow out officially, since that doesn't really interest me.

No worries, my apologies for the miscommunication then.

I've gone ahead and attached the character thread.

And an OOC Discord...

Would it be problematic that the art I plan on making for this since I'm reconsidering isn't super realistic? I can't draw realism.

I don't for see that being an issue by any regard. I'm more so impressed you're drawing the art yourself, that's an impressive skill!

For your earlier question, yes other races are allowed. Humans, Synths, Ghouls, even a Super Mutant if you can sell me on it and make it balanced. It would be silly to just entirely disregard the other very sapient races.

Here's my sketch of my Ditzy Mutant character Bean who I designed because I like to juxtapose really tall terrifying things with cutesy personalities. She's not much more capable than a normal human, but she's kind of a dum-dum and she has trouble with big words.

I'll go into more detail about her in her file if this is the sort of thing you're welcoming. I know she was a big hit in the "Road To Safina" Apocalypse roleplay, so I thought the same stuff'd work here.

I don't see why that wouldn't be necessarily possible. Is it just a case of a FEV mutation gone awry? Or is it a sort of tampered Super-Mutant strain? I don't find it too unbelievable, given the setting is full of the pulp 50's sci-fi thing, just like to try to find a way to make it all click.

Lord Moldoma Lord Moldoma I enjoyed the CS. I don't see anything that'd be inherently lore breaking, but it's also respectively creative. Feel free to join the Discord as most of the ooc will be there, if you desire. All I'm curious about is age clarification if possible, as I didn't get a chance to play 1, just need to ensure time timeline adds up.

I did the math, fallout 1 takes place exactly 131 years before 2292 in 2161. So she’s actually a little bit older than the given age but I wanted to play it safe since I didn’t know how much older you thought might fit. If it were up to me I assume she may have been 16 around the time of the original fallout.

Marking interest! Heh, got a pretty damn good character I've had shelved for a while.
Welcome aboard. Sybil looks somewhat familiar, I'm curious if she was in another story I tried to start that stalled, or we simply were in another together. All the same, she'd approved, and you're welcome to join the Discord at your leisure.

Are we still accepting? I have a character and whole location or 2 I made for a past Fallout NYC setting I could use (one Vault and one, or maybe 2 major settlements).

I'd be fine to have you join. Some of the original interest checkers didn't show. Small group, and we haven't gone very far. Discord has further lore and setting info, as well as a map. However if you don't use Discord, I can direct message you the info.

Damn you're still around? havent seen ya for a solid while.

Anyways I'm here to add in my obligatory interested since fallout is a favorite setting of mine.

heyyy , interested. been a fallout fan for years, maybe not the biggest but still very interested. is the rp open?

Hey there. I do apologize for the delayed response. You're welcome to make a character, we haven't gotten too deep into the story yet.
