Captain Decker is ageing man in his mid-fifties (still considered middle-age by human standards), with a fair amount of wrinkles underneath his piercing blue eyes. He stands at a fairly tall 6'1" (1.85m), and has a rather sturdy build. His greying black hair is normally kept hidden underneath his officer's cap. Decker wears his crisp and ironed naval uniform with much pride, proudly displaying his service ribbons and Captain's stripes. Captain Decker is normally seen standing up straight with his hands behind his back, a serious expression plastered on his face at all times.
Personality:
Decker is a strict no-nonsense Captain of the United Earth Government Naval Command. He has a strong sense of confidence and pride, though he is not arrogant by any means. His strong sense of duty has allowed him to earn the respect and loyalty of his fellow crewmates. He displays the traits seen in ideal naval commanders, namely, leadership, compulsiveness, and loyalty. He prefers to get straight to the point when talking. Decker also has no problems with socialising with his crew, as he is the kind of officer who takes the time to get to know his subordinates. He carries around an aura of commanding wherever he goes.
History:
Anthony Decker was born in 2792 in Allure, Panorama. From a young age, he was pressured by his family to become a lawyer like his father. However, he became interested in naval tactics when he was in elementary school. He infuriated them when he joined the United Earth Government Naval Command after graduating college, and was effectively disowned by his parents. This hardly had an impact on him, as he enrolled in the Longshore Naval Academy, a prestigious military school located on the colony world Longshore, a planet famous for being a major UEG shipyard. Here, his brilliant tactical mindset allowed him to graduate with top honours.
In 2820, after completing his training with emphasis on astronavigation and naval tactics, he was assigned to the UEGNC patrol corvette Summit as his first assignment as a communications officer. In 2822, he was promoted to lieutenant and transferred to the UEGNC frigate Lambda Sunrise and participated in the Colonial Rebellion, an ongoing undeclared civil war that had been waging on for more than two hundred years. He would participate in multiple battles over the next decade.
Decker was promoted to the rank of commander in 2831 and offered command of an Accolade-class battlecruiser, the UEGNC Carnac, which he accepted. The Carnac would later participate in the Battle of Offshore, a major engagement during the war, along with Battlegroup August. The UEGNC fleet would prevail, driving rebel forces from the planet. Decker would command his ship in many more engagements. In 2840, Decker was promoted to the rank of captain and given command of the UEGNC Filial Piety, a Providence-class battlecarrier, one of the most versatile class of ships in the navy. The ship would go on to inflict a devastating defeat for the rebels after destroying a major rebel fleet.
The year 2843 would be perhaps the most important in human history: the discovery of intelligent alien life. It would also mark the start of a devastating nine-year conflict with the newly-discovered Vaskran Hierarchy known as the Vaskran War. The first engagement against the aliens would be above and on the colony world Cascade. While the Vaskrans would eventually be repelled, the situation quickly deteriorated and turned into full-scale war. While the Colonial Rebellion had been one of the UEG's main concerns, the outbreak of the Vaskran War lead to the full mobilisation of the United Earth Government Armed Forces as humanity scrambled to battle this new threat. While the rebels were, for the most part, a rag-tag militia, the Vaskrans were a full fighting force with technology which rivalled the UEG's own.
Decker would lead UEGNC forces against the alien empire, and his battlecarrier would prove to vastly outmatch Vaskran ones. In 2846, he led Battlecarrier Group Helix to engage a large Vaskran fleet above the captured colony world Arenso. However, the Vaskran fleet outnumbered the Helix, and the human fleet found itself overwhelmed. The Filial Piety, heavily damaged during the ensuing battle, is forced to initiate a jump back to human space. The ship failed to return, and was declared lost with all hands shortly after.
In reality, the ship's RIFT drive had been damaged during the battle and malfunctioned, sending Decker and his crew to an uncharted world outside of human space.
Weapons and Equipment:
The iR2 Integrated Service Revolver is a heavy handgun used by the UEGAF. It fire armour-piercing .62 caliber rounds at speeds exceeding 700 m/s using a series of magnetic coils. It holds six rounds in its cylinder, and comes with a holographic sight.
Skills and Abilities:
Captain Decker is a veteran naval commander who has seen numerous engagements in his years in the UEGNC. He is a skilled tactician who has the insight to plan his moves carefully, allowing his forces to triumph over his enemies. Decker is also quite intelligent, knowing astronavigation and the basics of astrophysics. He has the ability to learn quickly by observing and adjusting tactics to counter the enemy, which is how he has managed to claim victory numerous times.
