Rand was itching. The scars he acquired in the last several years were itching. The guild mark on the back of his left shoulder was itching. This happened on a lot of jobs. It was like a strange and annoying side effect of mental state. His restlessness before working manifesting itself. He did not like being idle, and this was always at its worst at times like this. He was filled with a combination of stress and something almost like giddy anticipation. He had a lot of things on his mind. Ratnik’s odd poem, Nero trying to blame him for something he was certain he had nothing to do with, as well as the noticeable air of hostility that had steadily formed around her, questions about Yukine and Eli, and the fact that he was starting to get very, very hungry again. He was having a mentally taxing day.

He liked Braunen’s magic. It was one of the few things he could say he definitely liked. It wasn’t something he could keep up on instinct. Using it required sustained concentration. Everything was much easier when he was fighting. It could clear out all those other thoughts. Concentrate. Keep it active. Don’t stop watching. Remember your instructions. There was only the job, everything else was nonexistent. It was blissful. Easy. Much better than having to deal with all these thoughts flying around. This was why he was itching. He was anticipating the freedom from it all. Try and focus on that for now. It’ll come soon. Just keep going.

Eli wanted to introduce herself to the new member because perhaps he needed a friend given his face scaring people away. As she approached she saw Nero shoot her gun at his foot and she nearly shrieked, but caught herself...She didn't want to bring attention to herself...Nero is such a bully...

Eli had completely forgotten to try to befriend the new member after that.

Romulus Pastel was just completing a contract when he overheard some civilian talking about the princess.

"..she got the Elvish Heart guild as bodyguards along with her personal Entourage , ....I have no clue, but I heard it might have to do with the dark guild Oni Smile..yeah they're down by the docks.."

Rome grabbed his Jewel and headed towards the docks, the princess might know something about his father...and besides the name Oni Smile rang a bell and Rome wasn't sure it was a good memory. As he made his way down by the harbour , he noticed the gaurd detail wasn't at all light, and he didn't appreciate authority much to begin with. He noticed the guild members of Elvish Heart like the passerbys had said. Rome then eyed the nearest gaurd, he was standing around with the guild members watching the dock workers.

" Damnit, how the hell am I supposed to get on that ship..."

Rome passed by the ship a few more times to look for any possibility to get near the princess. After all she's the most probable person minus her father who might know something about Remus Pastel..his father. Although he did stick out like a soar thumb so they were sure to notice him

Elvish Heart

Nero’s return was noted by those around the princess, the new face prompting some suspicion. However, Shine’s possession of the mission slip alleviated some concern, and a cursory check ensured its legitimacy, meaning the new arrival had approval.

A short while later, Cholkin and the ship’s captain returned from the vessel, convening with the princess, before her group readied itself. As a group of guards and sailors waited by the gangplank, checking Easel’s entourage as it began to board, the captain called, “Now boarding! All weapons and magic items will be checked and accounted for! You are responsible for your possessions and will be held accountable for their use!”

Dwarf Spirit

May 14th, 777

The morning reaching midday, the two groups of Dwarf Spirit mages took to the town. The few people about seemed weary, simply trying to go about things, but many seemed to be doing nothing, bumming around or sitting curled up and out of the way.

Felix and Sam returned to town hall, soon finding that Joshua was not in at the moment, apparently being out and about regarding a dam construction project. The two were pointed the way of the river, a bit of travel allowing them to reach the site. The dam was partially built, but some construction clearly looked older: more worn and discolored by the sun. And despite it being peak hours for the work, as the temperature had yet to rise, it was rather lax, with the few workers who were about taking their time, the passive pounding of hammers on wood echoing out only ever so often. In the center of the worksite, mulling over a blueprint of plans, a man with tired eyes, ruffled black hair and a gritty stubble scratched at the hair under his helmet. Noticing the approaching presence, he narrowed his eyes, asking, “You guys the new workers? Or did they ditch?”

Meanwhile, Circe, Hina, and Hani made their way northward, into the farmlands, poking around for Kari Madoga. A few helpful tips pushed them up a series of inclines to one of the more active farm plots, various levels dedicated to differing crops, younger farmers at work tending them. Mostly they seemed to be tossing away damaged plants, or patting down disturbed land, but there was a light harvest going on. The trio reaching the house, they were met with an elderly lady, her gray hair thin, back hunched, and a straw hat dangling from around her neck. Knife at work, she chopped at garlic stems, before looking up to her guests. “Hallo there. Looking for someone or other?”

Rome noticed the captain and a group had started to board the ship, with sailors as well as the guild members. This was his chance. He noticed a short man arguing with a gaurd on a nearby dock, he was balding thin and very angry that the gaurd denied his passage . He got an idea and went for it. Rome walked behind the short man that was verbally fighting the gaurd.

"Dark Ecriture: Body and Mind"

He whispered as a rune spelling "mind" was written on the man's back. Rome then began walking up the captain of the gaurd , as if to ask him a question.

"What is it?"

He asked

"May I inquire where this ship is going?"

Rome replied

"That isn't of your concern, now please step away, this is a private matter."

He gestured for Rome to leave, then as slick as a knife Rome quickly inscribed the rune for "Body" the onto his chest. The rune began to glow and suddenly the captain looked bewildered and tripping over his own feet. The spell was a success, as now the short man was now in possession of the captains body and vice versa. He began to hear shouts from the gaurd and the body of the shorter man. As people gathered around Rome knew its be amatter of time before either of them recognized him .Rome hadn't put too much magic power into it so it would only last a couple minutes at most. He maneuvered past the crowd as more and more guards had piled near the captain who was still in the shorter mans body. Eventually Rome spotted that the primary entrance was now unguarded and shifted past the last of the crowd who were on the dock before sneaking inside just before he heard

"Stop that man!"

In the Captains voice. Rome quickly opened the ship doors and ducked inside as the captain made his way past the crowd that had formed around him to get to the ship, the shorter man now also confused had been carried off by two guards

As Nero got her guns checked in she heard footsteps coming close. They didn’t sound familiar either. Nero wondered for a second, what if it was someone normal again, like last time, it would waste her energy finding the person. Although, if she had made the wrong judgment here the princess might be harmed.

Nero yelled somewhat annoyed, “It seems I have diarrhea! I’ll be back in a second after going to the bathroom!” while running towards the mysterious footsteps.

She had slowed down her pace and gripped her gun, while doing so she ate a coffee cookie quickly.

“Ugh, this is almost the same scenario as last time.” Nero remarked, clearly annoyed.

While walking she encountered a man with long black hair who seemed to be in a rush, he looked...very fishy.

Nero walked up to him and said “State your business.”

" Well , I'm here to escort the princess of course"

He lied

"However I'd much rather protect you"

He said trying to woo her

Nero looked at him straight in the eye.

“I’m sorry to disappoint you asshole, but I’m escorting the Princess. ” Nero glared at him, completely ignoring his flirting.

Rome was taken back. Usually his charms worked . His face was visibly annoyed and somewhat intrigued

"Well how about we both escort the princess? And forget we saw each other. I do have business with the princess so if you don't mind.."

He tried to move past her

Nero blocked his way with her arms out,

“You move one step from here and I blow your brains out faster than you can blink.”

Nero had to be cautious, she didn’t know what magic this guy had, but that wasn’t important.

Rome scowled and glared, he didn't want to fight but he WAS going to get to the princess one way or another

"You can't stop me girl, I'm only here for information. "

His voice darkened

" I'm not from any dark guild, I just have personal business with the princess. I won't fight you. But you won't win if I do"

He threatened as the tension got thicker than honey

Nero, laughed. She grabbed a coffee cookie and ate it while laughing, Rome looked confused. As she finished her cookie. She looked up at Rome and jabbed him right in the face.

While he was regaining his sense of balance she ran. Nero disliked running away from fights, but there was no guarantee she could win.

She clenched her teeth while running. As she looked back Rome was still woozy.

Rome was taken by surprise at the sudden punch to the face

Fuck this isn't how he wanted it to go down. He looked up and saw her running. She was probably running to her guildmates. There was no guarantee he could make it to the princess without getting spotted, however he didn't want to be captured and thrown off the ship. Damn. What was he gonna do

Fortunately, she caught up to everyone quickly.

“We have a problem..” Nero said as she cocked her guns with mana.

Rome decided he wasn't going to wait for those hired guild members to come attack him, he had to get to the princess as soon as possible . He started to run upwards he was either going to meet the princess on the way or buy himself some time until the gaurds and the guild looked for him.

Sam, Felix, and Joshua:

"No, we're not the new workers. We are members of the Dwarf Spirit guild, here to stop all the incidents that have been happening. The mayor told me you could tell me how this all began." Sam replied to Joshua.

"And I'm pretty sure your new workers have ditched if they aren't here by now.."

“Hnnnnnnnn,” Joshua groaned. “More delays, that’s exactly what we need.” Bowing his head, he slipped his helmet off, setting it down. “The the old geezer hire you?” His words were tinged with disdain.

“If you mean the mayor, then yes. I’m Sam Brandybuck, and this is Felix Lazzo. He’s feeling shy at the moment, that’s why he isn’t saying much. Any--”

“Actually he’s just a tad miffed at a certain someone for ruining a perfectly good meal for no good reason.” grumbled Felix.

“Not my problem that you can’t appreciate unique tastes.” Sam smirked.

“‘Unique taste?’ I’m pretty sure you had them put rotten moose in my food. How is that a taste?!?”

Snickering, Sam turned back to Joshua. “Anyway, I don’t want to waste your time, especially since you seem pretty busy, so shall we get to it?”

Joshua looked between the two before shrugging, checking his pockets, but coming up fruitless. Looking around, he finally lifted the blueprint, an area map resting underneath. Placing it on top, he said, “You can have this if it helps, but here’s the general lay of the land. I spent the last few weeks noting down some of the damages. The landslide took out this river and a few roads, but I would say this one is the most important.” Jabbing each location with his finger. “We just passed the point where this dam could take the full flow of the river once it gets unblocked, so no need to worry there. Even if you can just deal with those you’ll save us months of work. I don’t really know much about wizards but maybe you guys can figure it out.”

Sam took the map. “Alright, we’ll do what we can. So, can you tell me when and how the landslides started?”

Joshua scratched at his head, fingers just under his helmet. “It was...half a year ago I think? We’ve done a bit, but with so much going on we’ve only picked at all our problems little by little at best. It happened during some heavy rainstorm. It’s just nature."

“So are Sam’s gas issues.” mumbled Felix. Joshua gave a sour look.

“I’m not the one who stinks after going without a bath for two weeks.” Sam muttered under his breath.Turning to Joshua, he spoke in a normal voice. "I see. You don't find it strange that so many strange events happened at the same time? Did you see any strange people around town at the time?"

Joshua shrugged. “Can’t say that I have. I’ve been too busy actually trying to deal with it, unlike our glorious leader who’d rather sneak away to big cities to try and gamble on a fortune to fund projects. As if we aren’t spending enough on you mages.”

“As if.” replied Felix.

Sam smiled sheepishly. “Well, I can assure you, that we’re worth it. Alright, I’ll go check out the areas you pointed out, and I’ll start with the most important one.”

Stretching his arms over his head, Josuha slumped back over the blueprint. “Good luck then.”

Sam nodded to him. “Alright, we’ll head out. Come on, Felix.”

“Alrighty then. Let’s go actually deal with the problem.” Felix grinned.

They both left the worksite, and began to head out.

'Hallo?' blinking multiple times, ‘Are, for a old hag she seems pretty easy to talk to. Old hags are never a good experience....’ Her thoughts immediately went to Elvish Heart's guildmaster Aralia Vera. Finishing her thoughts, Hina walked closer and greeted back and shook Madoga's hand “Konichiwa! Are you Kari Madoga-san? I'm Hina Togarashi and these are my guildmates," She looked back at Circe and Hani "The tall robot girl is Circe-chan and the cute but reliable boy over there is Hani-kun! They are new but they are super sugoi desu!"

Shifting her focus back to Madoga, she continued with a big grin on her face “We are from the wizard guild Dwarf Spirit and here to assist you with whatever help you need! Can you tell us the specifics? Regardless, yoroshiku!”

Hina's upbeatness and quirky choice of words was enough to simultaneously put Circe at ease and back on track. This job involved not only herself, but her guildmates and a town. She should think about the bandit incident after this was done and focus on the task at hand. "Good morning Ms. Kari, I'm Circe, the one who's in charge of the blocked river and roads. If you could explain to me all you know about the cause and locations of them, that'd help a lot." Circe said with a friendly tone.

Kari gave Hina a wide eyed stare. Turning to Circe, she admitted, “Thank you. I couldn’t make heads or tails of that. I don’t know nothin’ about the roads, we just tend to the fields. The animals have been a right pain though.”

“Pardon, if I may ask, could you please tell us what you know about the animal attacks? Such as what animals are attacking, when they attack and which plantations and livestock were taken or affected by it?... uhh, if you know anything… that is…”, Hani was quick to instantly ask many questions due to his own experience with hunting animals from before he even became a mage, and knowing how vital information is when doing such things. However he was quick to notice how his sudden overload of questions could easily overwhelm a stranger, specially to an old lady.

Knife resuming its work on the garlic, she said, “I’ll tell you what I know, little one.” Batting the knife on the side of the table to dislodge trimmings, she explained, “It’s been goin’ on for a few years now. Boars mostly, rippin’ apart the fields, wolves on the cows sometimes. We’ve always had them to some degree but they don’t care to stop nowadays. Especially during spring and autumn. It’s trouble gettin’ enough food: we’ve been making it through by trading crops they don’t really eat, but only barely. They normally live in the forest but none of the hunters have made it too far in. Things get riley in there quick.”

"Understood, extinction it is." Circe said with a completely serious tone.

“Boars can be kawaii… Do we really have to kill them all? Eto, I think the wild animals might be under some kind of controlling spell too, so we better investigate before ugh, extinction, Circe-chan.” Said Hina, feeling sorry for the boars if they had to face this 8 feet machias lady.

Hani started thinking about what Madoga said, “There are many methods to hunting wolves, it won’t be too difficult, specially with magic.” he thought, “Boars will be trickier, they are strong animals without many known hunting methods and even one mistake can be fatal.”, then he thought about how Madoga mentioned about how the animals “don’t care to stop nowadays”, “Hmm, this is odd, boars are animals that will mostly eat from anything and wolves, while being carnivore, usually also have a diverse diet. So it’s weird that there was an increase in population when both are already animals that usually fill up their habitats as much as said habitats can sustain them.”. After taking all of such matters into consideration he raised his voice slightly and said “Uhh… I believe Hina has a good idea, checking the forest first would probably be for the best.”

“Right right?!” Her eyes sparkled as Hina saw her kouhai agree with her, heart filled with happiness and feeling proud for her earlier remark. “Madoga-san, it’s daijoubu! We’ll deal with it immediately desu~”

She turned around and put one hand on her waist and pointed forward with the other “Ikuzo, minna! Circe-chan! Hina-kun! Let’s go and do our first mission successfully!”

"Yes, ma'am." Circe said before turning to Hani. "Could you show us how to follow animal tracks Hani? I think it'd be more effective to separate and cover more ground."

“Well, they usually look like this.” Hani said as he used a stick on the ground and drew two symbols, one made up of two large almost oval shapes and two small round symbols, and the other symbol, a far more recognizable canine paw, “This is the type of track a boar usually leaves behind and this one, a wolf”.

“Souka……” Hina went in thinking mode for a bit, holding her chin between her finger and thumb, “All right, let’s start the operation then! Operation-try-not-to-extinct! Actually yeah, that’s an order, try to knock them out without killing if possible, but…..” She looked at them both and hugged them super hard in a comical way “YOUR SAFETY COMES FIRST! Mhm! With that said, let’s-a go!!!” the 3 then left for the forest, looking for these specific symbols.
