Field Tear Excursion Attempt No. 1
An unknown time, an unknown location. A group of strangers involuntarily set up for a mission they know nothing about. They will have to walk for days through the seemingly endless forests and hills, survive the cold, snow and ice, fight off potential dangers and follow the robot. But as they progress towards their target, they learn more about each other, the cold environment they're in and the obstacles they probably will encounter. Some hope that this will soon be over and that they'll be back to normal, but some are sceptical. The survival of the group depends solely on the skills and the teamwork of the members. Will they reach their destination, or will they perish in the snow?
The members of the group have very different backgrounds and were seemingly picked randomly. They are equipped with a small firearm, medium-range communication devices, camping equipment, MREs, flashlights, flares and a piece of paper that reads:
Instructions for this mission are as follows:
1. - Under no circumstance are you allowed to exit the line of sight or abandon JAER.
2. - You are permitted to use the issued firearm to disable or terminate any obstacles you may encounter on your path.
3. - You are not, however, permitted to use the firearm or any tool to damage JAER or any group members.
4. - Strange occurrences and abnormalities will be a regular sight. Follow all instructions and commands from JAER.
5. - You must follow JAER along its path for your safety and the safety of the others.
Your relatives and close ones have been informed about your prolonged absence and compensations will be paid out in the case of your death or disappearance. Any damage to the equipment will not be fined. Any significant damage to JAER will result in mission termination and your execution.
"A sharp stop. The excitement of the group in the van starts to escalate."
"A muffled thud, footsteps and the door opens."
"The bright white light momentarily blinds everyone inside. A man in white camouflaged tactical gear is standing outside."
"He gestures them to exit, and they hop out of the van one by one."
"Looking around, they see vast plains and forests. All covered in a thick layer of snow."
"They all huddle around while sorting the equipment that they were given before departure."
"Once they were ready, they were directed to a black rectangular machine in the middle of a field nearby."
"They looked back at the departing van and had no idea what would be waiting for them."

JAER [ je:r ] is the name given to a Hazardous Environment Exploration, Excavation, mission Execution Single-Unit Robotic Taskforce (HESUR) assigned to this mission. It is based on TARS from the movie Interstellar. It is a black rectangle, segmented into four cubic pillars, "legs", connected via rotating magnetic joints. The ends of the legs can extend and break up into smaller manipulators. A screen showing JAERs current tasks and operations is present on the outer right leg and the name JAER is spelt out in yellow under the screen. This type of HESUR-units, dubbed 'HRI' (Heartless Ruthless Inhumane), has a limited AI, showing little to no emotions or feelings. This was done to increase the professionalism of the units and to minimize bonding to humans in the case of human companions. JAER is equipped with a mid-range movement detector, a welding kit, light sources and scientific instruments.
There aren't any specific roles for this rp and players are allowed to create their own ocs. Diversity is highly looked for and players should not be afraid to create characters with different backgrounds. Players can create a maximum of two characters (in which case one of them may die). Development of relations between the members of the group is encouraged and is the basis of this rp.

Rules I'd like the players to follow:
- All the Rpnations rules.
- Posting at least twice a week.
- Notifying me if something is wrong (you get uncomfortable, etc.).
- Obeying the physical limitations of this world, even though this has some sci-fi elements.
- Proofread your text. It's easier to work with a well-written one.
OOC
Please note that:
- This is the first rp that I'm running, so bear that in mind.
- There are no limitations to post length. If you don't want any oneliners, we can discuss that separately.
- If you have an idea for an event, please write it down in the OOC (when there will be one).
- This will be a medium-term rp, but the actions in the rp can slightly affect that.
