Alaska, with his new mission, picked up the pace, breaking into a nice run in the direction the car had gone. He didn't live too far from the building the crime took place in, something he was grateful for as he was at the building's entrance in a matter of minutes. He now stood at the door into the dilapidated complex, mentally preparing himself for the onslaught of scents he could already smell from where he was standing.

No amount of preparation would have helped him in the end. As soon as he opened the door, the werewolf reeled back in disgust. As long as he focused on something else, it would be slightly bearable. The trip to the elevator, the ride in the elevator, and the walk down the hallway were all painful; turns out that focusing on something else was nearly impossible. But he was there, standing in the doorway to the room where it happened.

Alaska leaned against the rotten door frame, arms crossed, and whistled.

"I'm fine." Aristide commented defensively, averting his gaze. He rubbed a hand gently against his neck, where purple marks were already starting to form due to the rough way he had been handled.

"You deserve the money... so keep it. I'm the one who forced you into that death game." The vampire sighed, plopping down ungracefully into one of the chairs at the table. He had lost his cigarette, but decided that he wasn't going to try and waste another one.

-
"Hmm..." Mark hummed to himself, placing a hand to his chin in thought.
"Nekojin - didn't think of that one. Otherwise, it could be some type of werecat scent?" He thought aloud, unsure for himself what the feline smell could be. It was partially because Mark hadn't been able to gather an internal database of what catlike creatures smelled like. Werecats (like wereleopards, for example), tended to live away from the city and away from society. Nekojin were a bit more integrated, yet were also a bit more uncommon to come across. Or perhaps they just didn't like being around canines, and so kept out of a werewolf like Mark's line of sight.

"If there were some sort of Nekojin or werecats that purposefully shifted while here, that could definitely match your gang theory. That would mean they purposefully marked the place." Mark theorized, imagining them rubbing up against objects in the house the way domestic cats would to mark it as theirs. Being a were himself, Mark knew the potential vampire blood had in enhancing strength and senses. It wouldn't be too farfetched for a gang to want to dose themselves with it.
"What do you think? Did you find anything else worthwhile?"

Labelle would listen to Mark's agreement, stepping into the bedroom as he did so. Yet again, nothing out of the ordinary. A few photos hanging up on the damaged walls, scattered clothes. It was all so...common?
Which seemed to point to the fact that it was truly an organization, most likely one of a species mainly dominated by Nekojin.
That would be the most likely reason to collect vampire blood, it boosted your senses extremely, and mischievous creatures were always greedy too.
"There's literally nothing out of the ordinary, and I don't know why I feel kinda' disappointed.
I think It's because I know that it was a gang- and if everyone else did their job right then maybe she could've lived-"
her tangent was cut short by a whistle, a long, loud whistle.
She knew it wasn't Mark- she just, knew it.
and as the atmosphere went silent, she'd slowly walk out the room carefully, making sure that she made the least amount of sound possible.
and with a quick turn down the mini-hallway,
she'd get her answer.
right in the doorway.

Cory stayed silent for a moment after he put the money back in the bag. "... You know, I do hate that you almost killed me, but if it means anything, you're a nice guy... You don't deserve to be hurt like that..." He went silent again for a long while.

"Are you allowed to leave at all? Just for a little bit?" Cory asked

Ari watched as Xenon approached the customer and spat in their face. The man backed away in disgust, then anger flashed over his face. "Who do you think you are?!" The man shouted at Xenon, walking aggressively at him. The man pulled his arm back to punch Xenon. Ari quickly grabbed the man's other arm and squeezed, his claws digging deep into their flesh. They let out a startled, pain filled yell. "GET IT OFF ME!"

The rest of the group took action after a moment of shock. Three of the people came to get Ari's claws out of the man's arm and the others went for Xenon. Ari focused on the people coming after him. Two of them grabbed his arm, prying it off of the man, although it caused the gashes he already made in the man's arm to worsen. The last one, a girl barely over the age of 21, came for him more aggressively, a knife in her hand, raised for stabbing.

Ari yanked his arm back from the other two, and caught the knives blade in his hand as it came down at him. He didn't make a noise as his hand was cut, but the pain made him violently shiver. He let out a low growl, and with a claw filled jab to the abdomen the woman screamed and fell back with blood staining her shirt. She ran away without another word, leaving the group and staggering a bit from the pain. Ari looked over at Xenon, hoping he knew how to fight. He realized he was still gripping the knives blade, and he let go, his hand mangled and bleeding.

Mark listened to Labelle's small rant about the lack of clues presented to them, all the way to the point where she was cut off. It seemed that they weren't alone. Mark attempted to pick up a scent, and identified another werewolf that was nearby.
'The scent of the cats must've covered it up...' Mark thought to himself, quickly following after Labelle. He stopped about a foot behind her, eyes focused sturdily on the male standing in the doorway. This would likely mean danger.
"Sir - do you realize that this is a crime scene?" Mark gave a cautious line of questioning towards the stranger, preparing himself for if something went wrong.

-
Aristide gave a grateful grin at the heartfelt statement from Cory. It was sweet to hear that from someone, even if he couldn't accept such a thing as the truth. The only reason that Aristide was in the situation with Hux was because of his own faults. He had gambled away his own life - therefore, he believed that he deserved the consequences, no matter how harsh.

"I can leave for a bit without getting that horned bastard on my back... why? Were you planning on taking me somewhere?" Aristide's full flirtatious charm was back in swing as he hummed the last part of his statement, a small grin on his face. It seemed like it was some sort of instinct of his at this point...

Alaska nodded towards the other wolf. He hadn't expected to see anyone else other than Labelle, but it was nice to see werewolves weren't being fired. He sighed and pushed off the doorway.

"That's why I'm here," He replied, looking between the two. "You two need another hand?" He moved his hands to his side, trying to avoid the defensive body language of crossing his arms. He wouldn't go into detail as to why he wanted to help unless they asked, which they likely would, as it was partially clear. He was sick of the government and the law pushing things aside.

Labella would furrow her eyebrows. Crossing her arms in a slightly defensive stance and groan. Many others must have heard about the situation, and seeing cops finally take it into their responsibility, well- it was probably a nice and confusing change.
Yet Labelle was very unsure, so she'd stand quietly, looking at Mark for a few seconds before she spoke.
"Why should we let you help us? It would go against our rules severely if we even let you inside. so what sources do you have that can help us? if you tell us, then we might consider your help. If it's not enough- well, you know what'll happen."
She spoke in quite a serious tone, not expecting for him to even have a clue about what was happening at the scene.

Xenon used to train as a child, his family was rich and well-known. Chances of assassination were never far. Yet the chance to use his skills never really came until he got the bartender job, he was harassed and attacked, but he knew how to fight back.
That's why who he fought never really approached the place again.
Unless it was a Sunday, that was his off day.
Yet he was startled as he was pushed to the bar stand quite aggressively.
So with his neck in a strong grip and no particular weapon upon him, he knew to use his surroundings.
As his breath slipped from his lungs, he'd quickly grab what he could possibly get.
and the closest seemed to be Ari's bottle of apple juice,
sorry Ari, but things need to be done.
And with a swift hold upon the bottle, it was quickly smashed over the man's head above him, who quickly collapsed to the floor.
Yet as soon as he dropped, two more men attacked him.
One grabbed his shoulders, while the other dashed toward him.
And with quick thinking, Xenon would put his weight upon the one behind him, kicking the man forward right at the bottom of his chin, most likely knocking him out clean.
He'd quickly be pushed to the ground, and the male from behind would pounce on him with a growl, pinning his arms above his head.
Yet through his struggles, he couldn't get out of it.
At least he knew everyone would hate that little gang forever now, some people usually go by the redhead's charm, meaning these attackers would most likely be picked on for a good while after this.
The thing's you have to go through for revenge, how painful.

His list would finally come in handy. "I have a theory, actually," he started, preparing himself for the speech ahead. "There's a correlation between the vampire deaths and rogue weres. Vampire blood enhances performance, right? What happens when someone goes a little overboard?" He knew the answer but decided to wait for a second before continuing.

"They lose it, go crazy, just like recently. And if I remember correctly, there's a group that has it out for werewolves specifically," Alaska finished, waiting for the two's response before saying anything else.

Cory smiled, happy to see Aristide back to normal again. "Welllll... We can go anywhere really, anything would be better than your workplace... We can go to a park, a diner, another bar...? Is there any place you've wanted to go to for a long time-?" Cory's phone buzzed. He looked at it after a moment. His employer that hadn't shown up had texted him, saying that he was having trouble with the wolves and needed help.

"Or you can make a little money, if you're up for it." Cory said. He could just ignore the text, his employer could easily find someone else if Aristide didn't want to go along. But it might be fun, after all the vampire thought trying to shoot each other was a fun gambling game.

....

There was a moment of peace in between the chaos. Enough peace that Ari noticed Xenon being pinned to the floor by the last man attacking him. But, unfortunently Ari couldn't focus on that right now. The other two who had attacked him seemed to hesitate for a moment, but then they came at him full force. One of the guys grabbed Ari's arm, attempting to keep him from stabbing at the other guy who was running at him full speed. Then he was knocked to the ground, the breath pushed out of him as the other man landed on him like a ton of bricks. For a moment he couldn't move, the pain was horrible and moving would only make it worse. Then he snapped back into reality when the guy grabbed him by the neck and started choking him. The other guy was holding his arms down, so he could barely move.

Panic spiked up in him since he couldn't breath, and he tried to kick at the guy that was holding down his arms but he couldn't reach. Black spots started invading his vision, and a fight or flight response kicked in. Suddenly becoming more aggressive, Ari kicked the man choking him in the stomach. They didn't let go but the guy holding his arms loosened his grip momentarily, and Ari took his chance. Ripping his arm away from the other guy, he went for the man's chest. He wasn't sure what happened next, his vision had gone black momentarily, and when it had recovered Ari realized he was able to breath again. He gasped, relief flooding through him. But where had the two gone? Why wasn't he being attacked again?

Mark tilted his head slightly at Labelle's response. She seemed more annoyed than anything - as if this wasn't some stranger who had shown up at a crime scene. He figured that they were breaking the rules already by investigating a closed case, and could use any extra help that they could get. It was more than a bit suspicious, however, to blindly accept the assistance of a random individual who decided to show up at the scene.

As he listened to the stranger's theory, Mark grew curious as to what information he knew.
"And who would that be?" Mark questioned. As a werewolf himself, Mark was quite invested in the possibility of going rogue. If there was something he could do to reduce that possibility, then he would do it.

-
Aristide thought on the question for a few moments, wondering if there was someplace he'd like to go. Being as old as he was, Aristide felt as if he'd already been everywhere that he could ever want to go. There was no burning passion inside of the vampire for travel - he had conquered that urge long ago. There was nowhere in the world that particularly interested him anymore, having been through hundreds of years of history.

"Oh?" The vampire hummed, tapping his fingers against the table rhythmically. "All that money and you're still going to go out and get some more? It must be something interesting, then..." Aristide assumed, looking at Cory with intrigue. "I suppose I can tag along with whatever you have planned, then." He nodded, stretching his arms up over his head.

Labella's eyes would widen at the thought of how likely that could be. This guy seemed to have cracked more out of the case than she had at all, and she really didn't notice how much civilians and criminals would know some things as well. To think that the were' and vampire attacks were linked-
It was more than a shock to her, especially since she didn't even think of it beforehand.
She wasn't jealous, well, maybe a little, but it didn't make her feel terribly unaccomplished on the case and having the help of someone with more information- well, it seemed a great idea.
But this guy knew they were there, and her guess was that he waited until the cops were there so he could tell.
it was; for some undercover criminal job,
or he was genuinely glad about the change in the government's view. or well, a few workers.
"That makes so much sense! they don't hate vampires, they need the vampires to attack wolves!" She'd gasp as if she came up with the idea.
But her gracious thoughts were soon interrupted with Mark's cautiousness with the stranger's links, or was he a stranger? had he been a criminal? or did she know him before, she couldn't put her finger on it, but he was not unknown to her.

Xenon would kick and punch, his reflexes would get weak with the lack of oxygen.
In a moment of desperation, he'd relax his body, acting as if he had been knocked out.
And maybe, with a stroke of luck, he'd escape his grip.
Expectedly, the man would ease his grip, and very quickly, Xenon would take this chance to flip their positions...
and proceed to kick the living daylights out of him.
and with a finishing kick and a deep huff of breath. He'd turn back to Ari.
"Damn, i forgot how good it feels to kick someone that hard..."
before he could exclaim his satisfaction, his eyes would widen as his heart dropped.
The men were on the floor, most likely unconscious, or even dead. but the man in the middle was most definitely killed.
Before the redhead could speak to him, a good few security men would head toward him, and a few would take the unconscious bodies, and the dead one.
Yet again, Xenon would be on cleaning duty.
but that's not what was on his mind, at all.

"My employer- the one that never showed up here- said he was having more trouble with those wolves, and he needed help right away. I'm sure you can handle a few wolves, hm?" Cory said with a smile. He stood and adjusted the bag over his shoulder, having put his earnings inside. "The place isn't too far away, so we can catch a taxi or something... Although I'm going to make a stop to put all this money away.. my apartment isn't too far, so we can just walk there then call a lift."

(I hope youre feeling better!)

....

Ari sat up, looking at the dead body lying next to him. He didn't mean to do that... He didn't want to kill anyone, but looking down at his hand he saw the dark stains of blood seeping between his claws. He had stabbed the man straight in the heart... The other man that was still awake and uninjured had ran away, and was nowhere to be found. As a few workers dragged away the bodies of unconscious or dead people, he stood, turning to Xenon.

"I... Didn't mean to kill him.." he said quietly. He tried... Tried to get rid of the instinctive part of him that told him to kill anything that threatened him. But it was too heavily built into his life, from the experiences he remembered so we'll from his past. He could have just knocked the man over the head instead of murdering him... He failed, and an overwhelming sense of guilt started nagging at him.

"I'll clean it up." He said, taking a paper towel and wiping the blood off his claws before sheathing them again, turning his hands back into the soft fluffy paws he usually had. He tried to get as much of the blood as he could off of his hands too, but some was still soaking his short fur so it wouldn't go away unless he washed his hands thoroughly. "Do you have a sponge I can use to clean the floor...?"

"The Great City Revolution, an organization of mainly cats," he said, looking past Labella to glance at Mark. Before he and his ex had broken up, Alaska used to help piece things together for fun, better than doing dog fights. The activity must've stuck with him after all those years, if only the other were still alive...

Clearing his throat, Alaska finally let his arms cross over his chest. "So, need a hand?" He asked again, this time with more confidence. He wanted to put an end to the chaos and fear, something he had already had too much of in his life.

"Wolves?" Aristide repeated, thinking to himself with a small hum. "I've tamed a few of those were-mutts over the years... offer them your blood and they'll obey." The vampire giggled, recalling his experience with werewolves in the past. Once they got a lick of vampire blood, they would follow Aristide to the ends of the earth for another taste. Anything that would give them the illusion of power...

He nodded, standing from his seat to follow Cory to his apartment. "Are there really that many weres losing control over themselves?" The vampire asked, not having seen the phenomenon for himself. "How archaic..." Aristide huffed, recalling how werewolves had acted in the past few hundred years. He had thought that they were finally learning to adhere to society - but apparently, they were lost to their canine instincts like true animals.

Mark glanced at Labelle once the stranger recited the name of the gang. It seemed that her theory was becoming more and more plausible every moment. It wasn't every day that someone off the street willingly came to the police with useful information, not even needing to be interrogated beforehand... perhaps as a werewolf, he also wanted to stop the species from going rogue.

"Well, we're already breaking the rules just by investigating this. Will an addition like this really do any more harm?" The werewolf reasoned aloud, not seeing a reason to reject a possible hub of information. Even if the stranger was deceiving them, it could end up being beneficial in the end if they played the right cards. "Detective? What do you say?" Mark tilted his head, waiting for Labelle's input. He studied her carefully, as if he would be gauging something with her response. She was the lead on this investigation, after all - Mark had simply been recruited to assist in the case when there was no one else to turn to. He was curious as to what she would choose, and how the choice would shape her growth in the field and with their case.
