FILOMINA

location: Jurassic era
with: Uzali
tags: Uniko Uniko

Awkward situations weren’t foreign to Filomina, however, she was used to being the cause of them, that’s why this current predicament was special. Now, the pink-haired alien could have very well moved, or made herself phase at the exact moment Uzali fell on top of her, but that could’ve caused the other pain, and she didn’t want the pale-haired princess to hurt herself. So the only logical and appropriate response would be to stay put, and so their bodies collided. It wasn’t painful, but she made a quiet huff as breathe was forced out of her upon impact,

When the blue-eyed princess used her chest as a means to stabilize herself into a more comfortable position, Mina squealed and nearly phased into the ground, luckily she stopped before Uzali could notice. Why didn’t this girl remove herself entirely? Why was she still on top of her? This was too suggestive. Filomina could feel the heat radiating from her cheeks, the blood rushing to her head, making her slightly dizzy. “Can you um, can you please uh…..” Was her brain shutting down? She needed to take a deep breath and calm down, and so she did. “Uzali I know who you are.” She knew she wasn’t the most memorable person, but they had been on a mission or two together.

Cautiously phasing through the paler woman so that they were no longer in a compromising position she stood on two and offered a hand to the taller woman, hoisting her to a standing position. “I’m frazzled, and you can call me Mina.” Despite their recent encounter, she was glad she wasn’t alone anymore, maybe they could look for others or those fragments Torin was talking about. “Did you hear Torin’s transmission, we need to find all the pieces of the time machine, also the doctor is…..” She motions her index finger across her throat then closed her eyes and stuck out her tongue, hoping Uzali would understand the gesture. Death was a difficult topic for her to discuss.

“According to these coordinates, there’s a fragment about 0.1 kilometers south of here, do you want to go retrieve it?” She didn’t want to come off as authoritative, since Uzali did have a leadership role, even if she wasn’t Atlas she was still a commander of a squad.

- Aylin -

Aylin pulled herself up from where she'd been laying on the ground, the shock of getting flung back in time had knocked her off of her feet. As Lin stood up, steadying herself on a tree, she started taking in her surroundings. The never-ending sounds of Mirano City had been replaced by calls of prehistoric animals and the buzzing of bugs. The polluted air that covered Tara, where they had been who knows how long ago, had become humid, sticky, and clean. Foliage towered over her, not just in green but a rainbow of vibrant colors. As much as she didn't want to be in the past, she couldn't deny it had its beauty, plus it was pretty cool. Suddenly, a crackling of static came over her intercom, followed by Torin's voice. Dr. Zaman was dead, but others were alive. Glancing at the coordinates she'd just received, Lin decided to see if she could find some of her teammates before heading in the direction indicated by the information.

Looking around for another human, Lin quickly noticed Atlas's long arms waving around in the air. They would have been pretty hard to miss. She started making her way over to where he was gathered, along with Del and TJ, careful not to disturb anything as she walked. It was good she'd managed to find a few of the others, being stuck alone in the past was not an appealing idea.

As their group convened, Aylin heard TJ speak up next to her. “Worry not miniature human girl, you are likely not sufficient in the nutrients these beast require, I don’t believe they will eat you.” She turned to look at him. Was that supposed to be reassuring? (Because it was not). The top thing on her mind hadn't been "will I get eaten by a dinosaur", but now it kind of was. "Thank..you? Hopefully, no one here gets eaten.", she said before turning back to the rest of the group.

Still trying to focus on something other than her imminent death via dinosaur, Aylin spoke to the others around her. "Atlas is right. We shouldn't linger anywhere unless we absolutely have to. We've got the coordinates and should start moving in that direction. Carefully, though, it could be dangerous if we attract the attention of whatever's out here."

Lara, Rhea, Torin, and Ariel

Thank goodness. Ava wasn’t ready to watch someone die, not yet. “Ah, I guess it’s all okay then.” She leaned backwards, some of the tension draining out of her body. The woman returned Rhea’s nod when she saw it, still not entirely used to communicating with the centaur, before her attention returned to the chunk of machine in Lara’s hand. It was one of the pieces they were supposed to find, huh?

When Torin found the small group, Ava felt an almost comforting presence wash over her as the sniper started to bark out orders. When they were hiring squad leaders, did the people running Rotek specifically search for people that could make others feel at ease in high-pressure situations, or was it the product of having the position? Falling behind Rhea, the woman mentally went over her equipment: a rifle, dagger, and decidedly nothing that’d help them survive in the wilderness. Which both concerned and annoyed the operative. It was going to take them a while to get to the rendezvous point too.

As Lara took the initiative to talk to the newbie, Ava’s face showed a trace of confusion. That was what she was doing, no? “I’ll leave the GPS stuff up to you guys. But – if that’s what you’re asking – I’m on high alert, and I’m ready to put a round through whatever we find.” The brunette gave psychology major a confident smile, blissfully unaware that the white-haired woman could see past the false bravado and find the worry underneath. Worry that they wouldn’t survive the expedition.

Then, she turned back to face the front, intent on fulfilling her duties. There was startling change between her normal persona and the one she’d adopt on missions which was much quieter – talking would distract her. The occasional roars kept Ava on edge, brown eyes darting around the undergrowth.

Atticus Barnes.
What was the tactical advantage to having a grenadier at a raid? Atticus blew all the outside doors in at once, sure, and allowing Onyx squad to rush into the building in pincer formation from two different directions was a neat little trick, but Atlas could've done the job all by himself. Whenever evil scientists were on the menu, it was the Geek Squad that shone, anyway. And even having the entire team along for the ride seemed a bit excessive. Atticus also pondered the usefulness of a team of spies in the middle of such a tense situation, as well as who must've organized this mission, during his drowsy state of recovery. His body felt like it'd been put through the medieval torture exhibit at the Miraino Museum of History, pulled every which way and sheriff and shaped into ungodly formations. That was why, even though he could feel sunlight lapping at his eyes and loose dirt between his fingers, he made the conscious choice not to wake up and be faced with whatever damage he'd unfortunately survived. Atticus imagined himself in the middle of a crater, the only survivor of what was surely a botched attempt at time travel. Were the others dead? Was he horribly mangled, spared from pain out of some cruel combination of dead nerves and adrenaline? Important questions, both, but ones Future Atticus would have to deal with. That is, if he wasn't bleeding out or something, and simply didn't realize.

The sound of interchanged, feminine speech destroyed any morbid fantasy Atticus might've been playing through in his head, and created new ones. He woke up to the sight of unobstructed sunlight, nearly doing a double-take out of his confusion. Where could he be that the sky wasn't altered by the presence of a gaudy glass spire? A vacation planet came to mind, but it seemed doubtful that any explosion could've been powerful enough to harmlessly send him out of the solar system. Atticus sat up, only to be greeted with a view of a savage world. Unfamiliar, unforgiving. In the face of such vast strangeness, he reached for the grenade launcher on his back, and felt nothing. This, of all things, made him get up. For a few moments, he searched through the nearby foliage, but found nothing even vaguely familiar to the perfectly smooth polymers that comprised its design. He'd all but given up and started to think of designs for a new one, when he noticed a familiar strap handing from a nearby tree. There, safe as houses, was his beloved weapon, nestled between the nook of two branches. After recovering it safely and taking a moment to count what ammo was left in the drum (7 shells), Atticus started moving in the direction of the voices he'd heard earlier.

There, in a clearing, and in a compromising position, was Mina and Uniko, with the latter sitting on top of the former. He was an instant away from stepping into view and saying something suggestively quippy, like "room for one more," but unfortunately, Mina wasn't having as good a time as he thought and ended the situation. Disappointed, Atticus stepped out anyway, listening as her teammate discussed the situation. He must've missed Torin's communication while he was asleep. "Finally, I thought I'd have to start talking to my shadow. If you girls are alright, we should go looking for whatever sciency junk is nearby. No point in meeting up with the others empty-handed."

Atlas's attempt to use his titanic body as a beacon proved fruitful, as everyone nearby wandered towards him one after another. As shameless as it may be, Atlas was absolutely thrilled about assuming responsibility for the ragtag group that was thrown together, especially since two of them weren't even in his squad - besides, of course, the great and lovable ladykiller.

Be it his prideful nature or genuine desire to lead others into success, he usually wasn't ecstatic about taking orders on the field. While direct orders in regards to missions were absolute, "informed suggestions," as he'd put it, from other Squad Leads weren't usually considered. That's not to say he doesn't listen, though. If the orders or suggestions given by a different Squad Leader and or Squad members are valid, he has absolutely no issue with accepting them. That's why, in this context, arguing with Torin about orders didn't even cross his mind - that would be "really, really fucking stupid." Especially in a crucial situation like their current one where it's a matter of life or death, petty squabbling would be an enormous waste of time.

He wasn't privy as to why, but being called "big man" by Del definitely perpetuated his aforementioned pride, with Atlas greeting the remark with an oh-so-obvious grin. He'd only been able to take a few steps before the Del's question pierced through him. "Vegans?" Not once had Atlas *ever* heard anyone refer to herbivorous animals as "vegans" before. He couldn't help but allow a chortle escape from the core of his metal chassis. "Hell yeah, the sauropods! If we find any, they probably won't pay 'ya any mind. That said, you ever think about how many ants you accidentally step on? Might be best to steer clear from them." Just after entertaining Del's question, Atlas realized that they were literally in the past. There were actual dinosaurs roaming around, this wasn't just some sort of false reality.

Listening to TJ "reassure" Aylin didn't even really cause Atlas to bat an eye, even if he should have. As the leader of Onyx squad, he took it upon himself to try to learn about his squad members and accommodate for them. In TJ's case, you sometimes need to deconstruct the literal meaning and only pay attention to the intent. "Thank..you? Hopefully, no one here gets eaten." Hearing Aylin's doubt towards TJ, Atlas sought out to give his own reassurance. "None of you have to worry, alright? If anything eats you, I'll just rip you out. Just try to get eaten whole." At this point, it seemed like they were more or less ready to proceed, with everyone agreeing that they were ready to move. "Let's head to the closest coordinates, then. We've got work to do."

(Graphic death of giant bird soon. Be warned.)
Atlas had only taken a few strides before he was hit by a gut feeling. Like a million eyes were glued to your back, following your every move with frightening precision. Had they stuck around in one spot for too long? "I think something got hold of our scent.." His tone was noticeably more hushed as he spoke, his demeanor changing entirely. With one quick motion, his left hand flew into the area, motioning for everyone to stay put. The next 10 seconds felt like an eternity. Atlas's next few steps forward were incredibly meticulous, as if he were a cat sneaking up on his prey. Of course, in this situation, they were more or less considered the "prey." As he inched a few feet closer, a very distinct whir came to life, originating from Atlas's core. It was very quiet, yet noticeable to anyone within earshot - even over the shrieks and roars of the dense forest. His caution turned into ferocity as a figure jumped towards Atlas, originating from the shrubbery he was inching closer to. This being was large, easily reaching six feet in height. The creature that jumped out was a carnivorous theropod: a raptor. A gnawing maw and sickle-like claws were the brunt of the assault, thought Atlas was not discouraged. In fact, he was excited, cheering out at the spectacle. "Come on, you ugly motherfucker!" The gaping maw that served as a weapon worked against the raptor, as Atlas rocketed his arm straight inside of the raptor's mouth and down it's throat. The raptor, rightfully caught of guard by the unusual action, frantically tried to bite down as Atlas allowed his entire forearm to be engulfed. Using this leverage, it was rather easy to get his other arm around the raptors neck. He began squeezing the life out of the poor thing, as it now attempted to escape the vice grip that undoubtedly sealed it's fate. Unfortunately for the raptor, there was absolutely no way that Atlas's behemoth arm was going to come out without pulling out something vital to the dinosaur's survival. As gruesome as it may be, Atlas couldn't help but to playfully muse. "You think they'll let me mount 'em on the wall back at Rotek?" Atlas howled with laughter as another raptor barreled out of the lush forests, their vicious nature contrasting excellently with the peaceful, vibrant flora. As the other raptor closed in on Atlas, he ripped his arm out of the - now lifeless - raptor's mouth, intercepting the next one's lunge by throwing the corpse at it with one arm. While it knocked the raptor down, it wouldn't take it very long to recover from the pitch. "Hey, hey! There's more, watch your asses!" How lucky would they have been if the pack was only two strong? While the trees and bushes seemed to isolate the clearing beforehand and allow those inside to plan in solitude, it now served as an arena to test their strength. All around them, the thick bushes began to rustle and move - the carnivorous beasts threatening to jump out at any moment.

Group Three
Frey smolfluffball smolfluffball
Dahlia Kassandra Kassandra
Luness Lioness075 Lioness075 ->>> No one

A chilling stillness settled into the mocha skinned android while she observed Luness and the crow like woman work simultaneously together to enact the tasks Bardot had instructed for them. She was aware of both of their abilities and high capabilities, even praised them to Torin on occasion for their usefulness in the sqaud, but she also sensed something else that the two have yet to make known to the rest of the team. Narrowing her ice blue eyes, she decided to not bother with a response to Dahlia's comment on her scanner being inoperable. But the cheeky tone within Frey's voice, however, did not go unnoticed by the perceptive Zolar. Hm, interesting. She took in all three of her fellow Gold members within her sharp line of vision, and AI immediately understood the placement she was in with this particular group.

Zolar brought her attention back over to the mousy haired one of their little ragtag team, "It appears the little boy has suddenly decided to grow into a man today." The afro haired android placed a deft hand on her thin hip, it seemed she was not going to be able to operate with this particular set of people. But that was of no surprise, she preferred to move solitarily in missions. It wasn't until she joined Rotek that she had to learn to work in groups. "And yet Frey, you still decided to continue talking back to me first instead of doing exactly as I stated, which was to focus on the task given to us by Mr. Nox. Instead, you chose to defend your obviously miniscule ego." She stated icily, her levels of compassion diminishing by the second. This was feeling different, too uncoordinated if she had to search her database for the right word. And the absence of a certain thick headed leader in particular was the most probable reason as to why.

As Frey and company began to begin their trek towards where Frey stated he detected a fragment, Zolar however, did not move. "With all respect, I rather take my chances alone. We can reconvene at the rendezvous point. That is if y'all make it back in time." And with that, the slim assassin silently stalked off in the opposite direction of the group, her dark form disappearing into the green thicket. She would search for these remaining fragments herself, as well as find their leader at the same time. Having to deal with anyone else would only slow her down and she'd be damned if she would be following the pitiful lead of someone who isn't even confident in their own abilities.

Dalziel deliriousmishaps deliriousmishaps
Alexander .V1LLAINISM._ .V1LLAINISM._
Kayden Once Once

Drexel was serious about not seeing the necessity in having someone lead them, but, as Kayden made the final decision for them all on who should; Dalziel was appointed as the commander of their small team. It made sense, the guy gave off the vibe of someone who preferred marching to the beat of his own drum, so to speak. Drexel just quite literally did not care. He barely was able to watch over his own self, the fuck he looked like actually keeping charge over someone else. Humming, Drex removed his hands from his pockets to instead place them over the back of his head as he quirked a smirk over at the red head male, "Well would you look at that, looks like you get to play captain of the ship today buddy."

When Kayden came over and suddenly took control of his comms device to help him input his coordinates, the indigo haired man raised a brow. He looked from his device and back to the other male with clear appreciation and interest in his amethyst orbs. "Wow, thanks man. You know, I thought you were just some silent socially inept weirdo bot, but your actually pretty cool bro." He complimented the dark haired android with a wink. Glancing down at his wrist, which he had modified to be his comms when in his camo suit form, he pressed the button on the side and it brought a small screen that had a bunch of lines and dots everywhere displayed on it. Fuck, he was never good at reading coordinates. He usually just trusted his gut and considering he was still alive and breathing, he considered that to be a good enough sign for him. There was bright dot blinking on the screen that looked somewhat close to their location, but there was also othe red dots around the screen, so he couldn't say if it was for the time fragment or not. He brought his gaze back up to Kayden.

"Uh, yeah, I'll be honest, I can't really read any of this shit so, which way Denny?...you mind if I call you that?" Drexel asked the platinum member after Dalziel spoke. But he turned his attention from Kayden momentarily to ear hustle on the one Dalziel was striking up with Alexander. The blue haired luck magnet busted out into laughter at hearing what Dalziel said, "Nah, I think for that to be of a concern, he has to actually get someone to be in bed with." The onyx member said with a grin, adding more fuel to the fire that he was sure at this point the Scottish man was building up. And Drexel genuinely did enjoy Lex, out of most of the other Rotek operatives, the two probably were the most alike, but Drexel also wouldn't be himself if he didn't tag onto the jokes when delivered.

Alexander Lee

Alexander didn’t know if there was an existing word to accurately describe his emotions right now. Discouragement? No. Offence? Somewhat. Agitation? Hell fuckin’ yeah. It seemed that the lines were blurred between sorrow and spite as the young man found himself being rejected by not only one- but two (and soon to be three) other individuals. It was bound to sting, but with dinosaurs tailing on his ass, he would surely forget about it. He just had to sulk first.

Narrowing his eye as this man- Drexel offered a chipper pat, Lex attempted to remain calm. After all, being completely soaked, the last thing he wanted right now was to be touched, especially by a loud-mouthed stranger. He hated it here. One by one he watched as his partners denied his qualifications- which honestly, wouldn’t have meant anything had he not actually tried. For, being the lazy type he’d always been, actually stepping up to the role was a rarity. Though he wondered, who’d made them the judge? A moment ago neither of them had even attempted for the roll. He huffed, majorly disappointed in the people for the umpteenth time today. Fuck me.

Settling back into his former position, he walked alongside his conglomerate in edged silence, hoping that they’d take his quietness as a hint and not as an invitation. But of course like the idiots they were, they’d approached him anyway. Had they not learned basic social cues? Or was his acute analyzation just a platinum thing? Either way, he wondered just how they’d gotten this far without facing assault. He clenched his fist. How?

Again, his eye burned into the very hand that’d grazed passed his bicep, taunting him to rip it all off in one go. Take a deep breath Alex, hell is not where you want to be right now.
The sexually alluding comment- albeit hilarious in different circumstances, did not achieve the same comedic effect onto Lex. Why, he was always being policed on his habits, and now, when he was in desperate need of one, couldn’t seem to care less on how detrimental they were.
“We work for ROTEK lad, ain’t nothing more deadly ‘an that.” He was quick to retort, motioning to the prehistoric scenery with swift hands before adding. “Don’t think a cigarette could’ve done all this.”

Choosing not to respond to his second comment, Lex was in the midst of cooling down when the purple-haired idiot had butted in.
“-Nah, I think for that to be of a concern, he has to actually get someone to be in bed with."

“Really? Cause yer mum’s a frequent visitor.”
He struck like lightning, accent increasing ever so slightly as his frustrations finally got the best of him. He really hadn’t wanted to stoop so low, really. But with his less than graceful entrance- coupled with the humiliation he’d faced in the moments prior...It seemed that he’d had no choice. Besides, who was he trying to please? He could be as ratchet as he wanted to be, not like his comrades were trying to be any better people.

He glared over at the android who hadn’t spoken a word to him since. Almost as if he were taunting- no, daring him to say something to officially set him loose. After all, hiding bodies in an era like this would be relatively easy- worst come to worst he’d just let a T-Rex have at ‘em. But no, before the Android could challenge him any further, Lex turned his back on the group, managing to distance himself a fair bit as they journeyed on. He needed to be alone.

Del, Feeling: "Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, I shot a dinosaur. Oh my god, mom is never gonna believe me."
cw: violence, violence against animals/dinosaurs
Wow. That was a lot to take in. So, Atlas didn't hate his comments about the dinosaurs and he got the metallic manservant to laugh. Not everything was looking up though. The herculean hunk of steel had put on a startling show for his new squad. With those thoughts, Del realized that perhaps now was not the time for prose. Taking everything in, he realized that Atlas had absolutely throttled a raptor, and pulled something right out of a bad wrestling flick to slow down another. Almost reflexively he announced, "Alright, uh, nice stuff Robocop."

In an uncharacteristic moment of clarity, Del threw his hand behind his waist to see if his gun had followed him into this world. Luckily, it had. The cold metal brought him back to his senses as he began to scan the brush around him. Suddenly, despite the others near him, he felt uniquely alone. Regardless of how many dinosaurs Atlas could drop suplex or RKO with a people's elbow, there was a good chance there would be one more raptor than he could handle and that one raptor would be more than enough to take him down.

Drawing his pistol, he took a deep breath. Almost on que he caught the sudden flick of movement from the corner of his eye. It was quick-- too quick. Its powerful legs pounded on the hard earth. If someone looked close enough or took a picture with a camera that was quick enough they could see the dirt kicked up by its feet and the small tracks left on the grass by its talons. Raising his hands, Del felt each moment pressing down on him. The beast would close the gap in a five second, maybe six. Then suddenly his focus was broken by a quick squeeze of his finger, followed by the electric jolt of his gun discharging. Keeping himself steady he let the process repeat itself two more times. Before he could properly assess what he had done, the raptor's legs fell out of tempo. The scene unfolded in slow motion. First its foot fell loosely as its head dipped. Then as its back began to put itself on display the monster began to fall to one side before settling into an awkward slide before coming to a silent rest.

His arms still extended, Del stared down in shock. He counted two holes: One on its shoulder and another cleanly in its head. The third shot must have missed. As he returned to earth once more he properly took stock of the situation. These things were too fast for him to reasonably shoot at, and he only had so many shots. He had gotten lucky taking down that one, but this field was absolutely going to be the end of him if these things kept up. "So uh, I know that this is probably like your calling or something, Achilles," he began, looking at Atlas, "But I really don't think fighting these dudes is probably the safest option for some of the team, you know? I mean like, you're probably not too nutritious, but I'm a snack and a half out here, and not in a cute way." That was his way of saying that they probably shouldn't stay here unless someone else shared Atlas's proficiency for kicking dino-butt.

Frey noticed Lune give him a pointed look, but simply shrugged when she raised her eyebrow at him. What else could he do but be the team sacrifice? It wasn’t like he had any special skills known to any of the people around him now. If he had been alone with a few other people, then he’d be far more useful. That was not the case, however. No one on his team except for his team leader knew his secret, and he had never intended to reveal his secret to Torin. It had been necessary, though. He would not reveal it to anyone else again. Not if he could help it.

He got a couple of steps before he heard Zola speak again, and he looked back at her with a raised eyebrow. She was still trying to fight with him? Really? Was now the right time for that? He didn’t deign to answer her jabs at his self-esteem. He had dealt with way worse than someone calling him a little boy, or thinking he had a small ego. He definitely did not. Zola, he thought, was just trying to grasp at straws, to upset him. It was honestly kind of sad to hear. Plus, it made no sense. People were capable of talking and doing what people asked them to do at the same time. Apparently this fact was lost on the android. Lots of things might be lost on the android.

Like the fact that they should stick together. It was the prehistoric past, and she was leaving, instead of staying with the team. He rolled his eyes as she walked away. Now who wasn’t doing what Torin wanted them to do? He watched her move into the greenery and nearly let her leave. It would be easier to just go find the fragment with Lune and Dahlia, then they could all go to the rendezvous with good news to report to their leader. But, of course, if Zola wasn’t with them, then Torin would be annoyed. And he’d probably take it out on Frey, for whatever reason. It would just be unpleasant to deal with. Frey didn’t want to be disliked by Torin even more than he already was. He was still trying to make up for all of his screw-ups and failures on the gold squad.

Plus, he couldn’t leave anyone alone. No matter what. Even if it was someone who was trying to just be problematic and argumentative. Even if it was someone who was trying to purposefully hurt his feelings. She hadn’t been successful, but the intent had still been there, and he wondered why she was so snappy. Maybe the trip to the past had screwed up her circuitry or something. It hadn’t affected him, because his species was able to adapt to everything. He was thankful that no one had noticed how perfectly fine “human” Frey had been. Or, maybe she was so aggressive because she hated being without her team leader. If that was the case, then, Frey thought, they probably needed to spend less time together. Being so dependent on each other would not be conducive to the squad. They needed to be able to function separately. It would be ridiculous if they weren’t able to.

Torin was most likely able to. Frey didn’t know so much about Zola. She was proving now, though, that she was not the most stable on the team. Walking away in the past, when no one knew what was waiting for them. A bad idea. He didn’t think anyone else who had been sent back was having this same problem.

Gold squad, everyone. Always a total freaking mess. At least it wasn’t Frey this time.

He looked between Lune and Dahlia, then moved around them to follow after Zola. “You guys can keep going ahead to find the fragment. You’re better equipped to find it than I am, after all.” He smiled, then looked back toward where Zola had disappeared to. “I’ll go try and talk to Zola, to get her to stay with us. None of us should be alone now. If I don’t find her, though, then I’ll come back to you as soon as I can. If you run into anything, then yell for me and I’ll come running.” He stepped further away from them, waving. “Be careful, please.”

He left his remaining teammates before they could say anything to stop him, and he quickly disappeared into the thicket as well. He knew Zola was able to be incredibly silent, which would make tracking her down difficult, if he wasn’t able to change into animals that could track people with echolocation. He glanced around quickly to make sure neither Lune nor Dahlia had time to follow him, then he changed his form into a bat and dove around some tall bushes. This was stupidly risky, because both his left behind teammates were good at scouting out information, but he needed to find Zola. If anyone asked him about it, he'd just make up some kind of excuse. He opened his mouth and let out a screech, then heard the sound waves bounce awkwardly off something to his left. It could be a dinosaur, but it sounded like it was roughly human sized.

He took his chances and turned in that direction, then soon saw a familiar head of hair. He stayed airborne and turned away from Zola, remembering how far her radius was. He didn’t want her to sense him, or sense something small that changed into a much bigger size. He wasn’t entirely sure how far forty feet was, especially when he was looking at trees and bushes, but he thought he was far enough and swooped low, changing into his human form again and landing on his feet easily. He listened to hear if anyone was around, but heard nothing. He needed to find Zola before she got further away.

The undergrowth wasn’t the easiest to navigate through, but he made sure to avoid tripping over any roots as he hurried back to where Zola had been. Thankfully the trees were tall, so he didn’t have to tuck out of the way of any low-hanging branches. He saw her through a few fronds of a fern and moved them aside. “Zola!” he called, moving away from the fern and closer to her. “Thank god I found you.” He walked over to her, but didn’t reach out to grab her, because he didn’t have a death wish. “Please come back and stay with us. It’s important that we all stay together, so that no one is missing when we find Torin. Wouldn’t want to end up having to go on a rescue mission for you, you know?” He smiled at her, trying to change the mood, just a little. It probably wouldn't work. That was okay. He just wanted her to come back to be with the rest of the team.

If one were to graze their eyes over Shay’s current state, they would’ve thought that she was a literal corpse. For, still as ever, the woman seemed to be bartered beyond repair- lifeless even as she laid within her serene surroundings. There was a rise and fall to her chest that was so subtle, that it almost appeared as if she hadn’t been breathing at all. Meanwhile her hair splayed against the dirt, long strands tangled dangerously around the many branches that’d covered her fall. Luckily the young rider had crash landed onto what appeared to be shrubbery, albeit with the cost of having the absolute wind knocked out of her. This deep yet peaceful slumber had lasted for a few moments until suddenly the woman lurched forward, gasping for air. What. The. Flying. fuck.

Hazel eyes strained forward as the sun’s rays beat down onto her tattered body, attempting to recover from her temporary amnesia as she struggled to shake herself from the shackles of the bedding. Wincing sharply as she pulled upon her hair (and had ultimately ripped a few strands out), the young woman let out a pained groan. She would be bald by the end of this, wouldn’t she? Coming to a shaky stand, her next focus was to find her bike- that is, if it was even here. It’d seemed that her helmet had made the trip with her but her bike was a completely different story. Her search had lasted five lengthy minutes before Shay’d officially succumbed to the temporary loss. Kicking at the ground in frustration, she inhaled steadily. So she was all alone in the middle of buttfuck nowhere without her bike and her weapon? Great, just great.

However, as if the heavens themselves had answered her prayers, a sudden voice had called for her attention. It was Torin’s, leader of gold and good friend- wait, could she even call him that? Did he even have any friends? Whatever the case, it was apparent that there’d been a change of plans. Something about the target dying and finding the missing fragments of the time thingy. It sounded much easier than it would be. She only knew because she’d made the grave mistake of believing it to be as such. Panting like a dog as she practically climbed up the large dips and dives of the earth, Shay felt herself getting more and more dehydrated and overheated by the second. Which was a big no-no considering...well, basic survival. She needed to find her group and then she needed to find some water.

She’d been walking for what had felt like hours (but had really only been 15 minutes) before she nearly collapsed of exhaustion. In fact, had it not been for the shit-scaring animalistic shriek that’d suddenly echoed out of nowhere, Shay would’ve caved in by now. Instead, with the fear of god instilled within her, the woman practically bolted forward, limbs feeling like rubber as she ran like the inf. Only, she wasn’t exactly looking where she was going and found herself nearly face-planting into what appeared to be a grenade-launcher. Having narrowly missed the weapon, the young Onyxian instead tripped on her own two feet and went flying, collapsing into a hysterical heap moments later.
“The-the” she pointed, words losing her as she attempted to describe what she’d just heard. She didn’t fuck with dinosaurs.

Upon realization that she was no longer alone (but with three other individuals), the woman calmed down ever so slightly. “Did you-did you hear that too?” She was a mess.

Shay .V1LLAINISM._ .V1LLAINISM._

When the alien female below her began to feel tense, and a bit shaky, the princess blinked and made to touch the others cheek, her cool hand coming in contact with the smooth brown skin there. "It is the alright, you may share your words with Uzali!" She assured the other alien. Normally Uzali wouldn't necessarily become this familiar with another so quickly, but when she was in the presence of a fellow alien, and a female at that, it felt as if she were back home, in her own galaxy where her own kin prevailed. It was rather dissapointing though that this woman wasn't from Zatyr. Regardless of how foolish such a notion was, a small part of her still liked to hold out hope that she'd someday come in contact with someone from the planet. She never bothered sharing this with her sibling, as he would quickly take down any idea of hope she held for it. Deeming her 'foolish' or 'naive' for believing such a thing would happen.

But before her eyes, Uzali witnessed as the full bodied alien came perceptibly close to Uzali as she leaned up. Uzali's sapphire orbs widened in barely concealed surprise as she quite literally, passed through her. When she did that, Uzali slightly lost balance for a moment, but Mina had taken ahold of Uzali before she could truly register what just happened, an assisted her back to a proper standing position. Brushing off her personally custom made suit, Uzali once again approaced the pink haired alien very closely, completely ignoring the question she just asked. Clasping her pale hands together the platinum leader practically had stars shining in her eyes as she admired the other alien. "Mina? That is ever the most wonderful ability you hold, how do you operate it?” She questioned in all seriousness. An ability to literally pass through other organism was a possibility the Zatyrian developer has never considered. Did this woman state her origins? This was her planet, yes?

Just as Uzali parted her lips to further overwhelm the shorter alien with more of her inquiries, a new voice had joined the pair. Turning around, Uzali noted another person she did not recognize, though the human male spoke to both her and Mina with an odd familiarity.

She took a subconsciously protective stance in front of the pink haired alien, “And what being are you?” The Princess demanded to the stranger. The male did not seem hostile, but he also possessed a rather dangerous weapon that she more or less was familiar with. “State the business you are having.” She further ordered the brown skinned male.

But again, the now trio was interrupted by a forth comer. As she looked over the new woman that joined them, Uzali noted the weird familiarity the three seemed to have with each other. Was this what the humans called, ‘not getting the picture?’ she’s heard the phrase used before but did not understand what it meant. Perhaps this was an applicable situation.

As human female spoke of hearing some sort of sound, Uzali had tilted her head quizzically. “Uzali’s hearing is fine, hu-“ An ominous, ground shaking screech sounded out of nowhere, effectively silencing the squad leader from speaking further. It was then the foreign alien really became aware of her surroundings.

This was not the same Earth that she was temporarily inhabiting. Bright eyes looked around in wonder, but also apprehension. The new scenery was almost reminiscent of the wild lands back on Zatyr. Where her father the emperor, and brother Tartimok would visit on occasion for practice and hunts. Though it were moreso for her brother’s benefit than Uzali’s. She was only allowed to attend because of her persistent complaints to father, as well as her mother managing to persuade the cold hearted ruler into letting her participate.

Before she could bring herself further down the recesses of her memory, the screech sounded again, this time louder and closer than before. If she could compare to her trainings in the wild lands of Zatyr, then that was not a good sign. Momentarily forgetting about the identities of the three somewhat familiar beings around her, the platinum haired woman immediately pulled up her communicator, pressed a button, and a transparent holo screen appeared. She began swiping at the touchable screen, it cascaded a blu-ish glow over her form.

Hm, my readings state that we are still of Earth...however...” And finally, the events from before that have led up to the present, completely registered in Uzali. The Dr.Zaman. And his machine that held the power to manipulate time. “Chiknazak.” The exiled princess mumbled quietly to herself, the word could be a roughly translated phrase of amazement in Zatyrian. Just when the advanced alien thought she could no longer find any use in the technology by humans, she had been found wholly mistaken.

But her fascination was cut short as she took a better look at her screen, and sapphire eyes widened perceptibly as the Zatyrian researcher noted several red danger indicators dotted over the screen. All of which seemed to be surrounding their current location.

Uzali turned back to the pink alien beside her, “You made mentioning of this ‘time fragment’ yes? Can you give direction, sist-Mina.”She requested softly, but there was a sense of urgency behind her tone. Then she remembered the other two who joined them and addressed them as well, “Uzali is not knowings you...people, but help must be given. Understood?” If these humans possessed weapons then perhaps they could be of some use against the imminent danger surrounding them.

Kayden Fletcher

location: somewhere with dinos

interactions: Drexel, Dalziel, Alexander

It wasn’t like Kayden had been recruited because he was good with computers – far from it. Even so, he found imputing coordinates into a GPS really, really simple. But maybe it was because the android was in Plat; just like how Onyx had its grueling workout regime, they had tech training. And included in those crash courses were how to operate their suits and whatever came with them, though they tended to stick to the harder stuff since the squad was filled to the brim with geniuses.

Which was why Kayden was caught off guard by Drexel’s… compliment. At first, his words stung a bit more than they should have – at most, his interpersonal skills were just average and most of the time, they were somewhere in between that and substandard. Kayden knew that – and the detective gave the knife-thrower sidewards glance because of it. But the compliment that the indigo-haired man had slid in as well as the wink made him think that it was just that: a compliment. “I just started your GPS,” he said, sounding amused but a tad bit gratified as well. “But, hey, whatever floats your boat. I’m not complaining.”

And then, came Drexel’s confession that he didn’t know how to use a GPS, a map. Had the conglomerate heir never driven himself anywhere before? Hearing their elected leader deflect the question back at him makes Kayden shrug helplessly – he did volunteer for the task – before swiftly pulling up his own. In doing so, he left his squadmate -- the one from his actual squad, not this makeshift group – to fend for himself. The conversation as a whole was entertaining, and he couldn’t help but snort upon hearing the Scottish man’s retort.

Ignoring the baleful glare being sent his way, Kayden chose to answer Dalziel’s question. “Alexander was leading us in the right direction.” The android didn’t remember the man actually checking so he wasn’t sure if it had been a lucky guess or not, but whether he’d lucked out or not didn’t intrigue Kayden. “We’re pretty close to a fragment. I’d say half an hour, give or take. Of course, that depends on how much stuff we’ll how to loop around. Could be more, could be less.” While he was giving instructions, his thoughts absent-mindedly wandered over to a certain one-eyed man who’d distanced himself from the rest of them.

Maybe he should help? But he’d been concerned about provoking the guy, and that seemed like the inevitable outcome if he stepped in now. The two who were actually good at this kind of thing had just blown their chance, so it seemed like they’d just had to wait for Alexander to regain his composure. Hopefully before they ran into a T-rex or something.

It would appear that time travel tended to stir up trouble, as the groups began searching for the pieces of the time travel machine that was spread across the area, they each ran into their share of troubles.

While group one squealed and squabbled, so did the pterodactyls circling above them. Drex and Dalziel are the first to approach the site where the fragment was located, with Kayden slowly behind the duo and Lex distancing himself for the safety of the group. Before they can retrieve the scrap of metal, a pterodactyl swoops in and swallows it whole before taking off, however, Drex manages to land a hit with one of his daggers before the winged dinosaur can gain considerable distance. While the damage isn’t fatal, the dinosaur begins to fly at a lower altitude and seeks refuge in a nearby cave. Looks like group one will be spending more time together than intended.

One raptor is fun, two is a good time, but five? Well, that’s a party. The animalistic call for reinforcements rings in the ears of group two. Two velociraptors spring from the bushes, each targeting Atlas’ arms and latching with razor-sharp teeth, another comes forth and knocks Aylin to the ground before pouncing on her and displaying its pearly whites. Before Tartimok and Del can act, the white-haired alien is cornered by two raptors. Leaving Del to decide who he should aid first.

What’s left of group three venture on in search of the time machine piece. They find what they’re searching for, but as luck would have it, it’s nicely tucked away in a nest with a dozen triceratops eggs. A protective mother is sound asleep next to her unhatched eggs, if Dahlia and Luness are to obtain the fragment, they’ll have to act swiftly and with caution, which shouldn’t be too much of a challenge. With her enhanced senses, Luness can hear the distressed cries of group two, if Dahlia and Luness act fast, perhaps they can be of assistance to the others.

Group four had just band together, which is unfortunate because they were about to be separated yet again. In search of food for her hatchlings, a Quetzalcoatlus finds the perfect daytime meal for her hungry babies, a Rotek Operative, and not just any operative, the one that’s the most afraid of the bird-like creature should be the one to nourish the young dinosaurs. As the group nears their destination, they find themselves in a grassy area, with a minimal amount of trees, the perfect spot for the mother Quetzalcoatlus to dive in unannounced. Her overwhelming presence catches the group off guard. Uzali protects herself with her lunar shield, Atticus prepares to strike her with whatever firepower he possesses, while Shay and Mina run. The winged beast goes in for the kill, fortunately for Mina, she manages to phase before the Quetzalcoatlus can grab her. The flying force takes Shay and carries her off to her nest that is, that’s right you guessed it, not ground level. Shay should probably be saved before she becomes bird food.

With Ava and Rhea leading the pack, and Lara and Ariel directing the gang to the rendezvous point, group five managed to reach the grassy plain unharmed. Torin immediately noticed the lacking presence of the remaining groups. Group five decided to take this time to rest, the dinosaurs that are nearby are herbivores that pose no threat. Their moment of peace is short-lived when Rhea feels the earth tremble beneath their feet. The mechanical eyed alien asks the others if they too can feel the vibrations, and before anyone has the opportunity to respond two towering beasts emerge, charging at the herd of dinosaurs grazing on greenery. Those carnivorous dinosaurs that Torin said were in radius paled in comparison to the two Torvosaurus that were headed in their direction. The herd takes off in a panic towards group five and Ava is the first to make a run for it, the rest of the group following her lead. Forty feet away are Frey and Zola, the android’s scanner picks up on group five and the stampede of dinosaurs.

Stepping out of the shadowy pre-historic forest and getting greeted by the gorgeous green plains of Past Miraino, Rhea's breath was taken away for the second time today. It was like something she saw out of those textbooks in Rotek's library. The vibrant green plains that practically begged her to run a finger over them, the clear blue lake that took up half the picture and the brownish-gray 'di-no-sa-urs' that were peppered around the field and quietly grazed on the vegetation. It was mesmerizing to watch. So mesmerizing, the girl forgot that she had company for a moment.
Her dino-watching was interrupted by Torin nominating the spot as a resting place, and imperceptibly the alien brightened. Disconnecting her eye-piece and taking a good few moments to get used to not having it, she trotted towards the red-headed Platinum member and held out the cracked mechanical piece in the palm of her hand. "Ar-'i'-el, I request you fix my eyepiece. It was dam-ej-ed during my fall, and the screen have cracks on it. If you are able, pl-e-es rep-air it as so-un as possible," she asked, though her tone of voice was sharp and demanding. She never found the time to learn pleasantries. Though judging from the deep rumbling she felt in her feet, she may never have the chance to. Immediately, alarm bells began to go off in her head, and her slight slouch was corrected, her good eye scanning for signs of danger. And find it it did.

In the distance, two large masses roared, one of them snatching up some of the smaller herbivores in it's jaws. Images of screaming teammates flashed in her mind, as well as the familiar memories of biting cold that came with it. For a moment, Rhea was frozen, before whispering "grakkdrock." All at once, the peaceful grazers were thrown into frightened chaos, as they formed a mass of bodies that were headed straight for group five. Behind them followed the Torvosaurus', chasing the stampede on large muscular legs. To the extraterrestrial female, it was like seeing a nightmare come to life, and one that she had no intention of living out. Grabbing Ariel's arm in a panic, the girl pulled him along as she set off, intending to run from this nightmare-turned-reality. Claws gripped his wrist extremely tightly, and when the male lagged behind she simply growled and pulled him onto her back.

As she galloped away from the herd, the girl looked behind her to assess the situation. The two carnivores seemed to have their sights set on group five, a notion that sent shivers up Rhea's spine. Turning away and galloping from the herd's path, the centaur unfurled her bow and drew the string, arrow aimed straight at one of the dino's eyes. It was a motion she'd gone through many times before; go up against a monster larger than her, aim for the eye, disorient the creature and injure it while she could. Of course, those times her hands weren't shaking. Letting the arrow fly, Rhea watched it cut through the air before burying itself just a few centimeters away from the creatures eye. The dinosaur roared, and the Onyx member felt that chill jolt down her spine as she froze. She... she had missed.

The Torvosaurus' pupil shrunk, and it's chase was abandoned in favour of the much smaller, much more annoying snack that was standing right there. Suddenly, it ran towards the two, roaring in fury and letting spittle scatter wildly from it's mouth. Adrenaline and fear was pumped through the half-horse's veins as she took off in a sprint. Unfortunately the large mass that she'd pulled onto her back was slowing her down, but in her jumbled thoughts that was forgotten. Instead her mind was concentrated on getting the hell away from the giant, meat eating monster that was chasing them. All the while a quiet part of her was screaming 'I. Missed.' over and over again. It was stupid. She was stupid. She'd taken a stupid risk and now she was going to get eaten for it. Anger seeped into the fear cocktail that had made it's way into her bloodstream. Anger at herself, at this stupid mission, and at the stupid doctor-scientist man or whatever that had brought them here.

But all she could do now was run. Run for her life, for her brother, and for the human that was clutching her shoulders.

TORIN

Torin was met with little resistance from the group, given Atlas’ reputation, it was no surprise that Rhea and Ava stepped up immediately, heading to the front of the pack to lead the way. Uzali apparently didn’t hold her squadmates to the same standard, that was the only reasonable explanation for the cheeky smile shot his way. He ignored it (to the best of his abilities) and gestured for the others to move forward, he needed to be more concerned with getting to their destination than getting into it with a platinum squad brat.

Much to his surprise, the group ended up performing quite well, no injuries and they had reached the rendezvous ahead of schedule. None of them were Gold, so he wasn’t going to push their limits, endurance training was big in his squad given most lacked physical strength with the exception of Del and Luness, so he thought it best to allow everyone time to recuperate, that wasn’t a short distance they had all traveled, and he figured the two members of the platinum squad were likely exhausted. Torin lowered himself into the blanket of green, he supposed not being surrounded by skyscrapers wasn’t so bad.

That thought was ripped up, burned, and tossed aside once the ground began to quake and two colossal bipedal beasts came rushing in their direction, along with the dozens of herbivores they had stirred into a panic. Ava was the first to take off, Torin supposed it was muscle memory, Onyx squad had their fight or flight response perfected, so he wasn’t surprised. Rhea tossing Ariel on her back did catch him off guard, but also triggered him to look back as he took off, keeping an eye on Lara to make sure that she wasn’t dead, because filing that incident report would be just as gruesome as death.

In all honesty, he wasn’t darting in any direction, in particular, he just knew that he didn’t want to be impaled by oversized sharp teeth, so he ran like hell. He attempted to activate his jets, but, as luck would have it, one was busted. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

Lara realized her communication skills were still in desperate need of improvement when Ava responded in a rather confused manner. Of course, this was not news to Lara. She already knew she was best at communicating with computers rather than people.
With a sigh, Lara followed along the group, giving out directions as they were needed.

Once they reached the grassy plains, Lara immediately frowned. So few trees, so little shade, she was bound to get burned if they stayed out there too long. She could only shade herself so much without her parasol. The humidity and hot air already had her sweating and now she had to pull up her hood just to protect her neck and scalp.
Staring at the ground to try and protect her face as well, Lara trailed behind the group while they settled at the rendezvous point. Lara could only hope that the other groups got here soon. At least Frey knew about her being an albino and how dangerous the sun was for her. She did not like making a big deal out of it, but it had been eventually brought up between the two.

Still, Lara could not hold back her fascination at the sight of the herbivore dinosaurs calmly enjoying a meal nearby. She stared in awe, her jaw dropping slightly. It was still hard to believe they were near real, breathing dinosaurs. She felt an overwhelming temptation to approach one and touch it, but she resisted just in time to see the two Torvosaurus charging the herd.
Lara blinked and then her heart began pounding with adrenaline when the herd panicked and began stampeding towards their group.

Turning on her heels, Lara began sprinting after Ava. Her heart was in her throat, as her hood fell down and her pale blonde hair shone in the sunlight.
She did not think much about anyone veering off from the main group, only trying in vain to run away from both the stampede and carnivorous dinosaurs. Alas, Lara was not made for speed or anything related to serious exercise. In her panic, she did not notice a sizeable rock at her feet and promptly tripped over it before eating dirt.
Pushing herself up onto her hands and knees, Lara spat out dirt, at least she hoped it was only dirt, and then turned in time to see the panicked herd nearing her position.

"Oh fuck."

No one ->> Frey smolfluffball smolfluffball

Zolar did not have a particular direction that she was heading in, and more or less was relying on her basic instinct that came with her programming. But the android knew that wherever she ended up, it would need to be away from anyone else, or specifically the few individuals she just departed from. Though it may seem like it, she actually wasn't upset with them for a specific reason. As adamant of an AI she may be, Zolar was not a completely irrational android. After all, she was originally created to be the perfect killer. Silent, obedient and not hindered by emotions commonly found in humans. However, the latter was the only missing component that was never perfected in her coding. A feature the AI at times sometimes found herself wondering if her existence would be different if her original programming had actually been completed.

However, though she was not holding any particular dislike for Frey and their other peers, she also was not lying about what was said back to the human male. His reputation as the Rotek failure was something she thought was more or less pure conjecture. Especially after hearing certain commentary from fellow squamates such as Dalziel Paltor, state his reasoning for not liking the boy was often just a simple, "he sucks at his job" perhaps not verbatim, but something along those lines. So, Zolar deemed it fair to assume that this scorn for the Bardot boy was inconclusive and regarded it as such, wanting to form her own opinion on the infamous Rotek operative. And so far, she had to admit that she was beginning to see the annoying aspects to the human boy, that was for certain.

But that all aside, it was more than just her growing lack of tolerance for the human at the moment, no, it was due to her just not feeling...right. As the two had went back and forth over who was following proper procedure, Zolar began to notice the corners of her optics becoming an eerie crimson. It was only for a moment, which was how she was able to hide it at the time, but it was enough to concern the android. For her vision to start narrowing as it almost did, and change colors meant that her killer instinct was close to activation. Which she typically had complete control over when she would enter into said mode, which was basically never since she entered Rotek. But she knew something wasn't right. There was no way that something as simple as that disagreement could trigger her to the point of going into killer mode. But for precautionary measures, she knew leaving them would be better for their safety. She wasn't concerned about her own wellbeing, she was aware she had a slightly higher chance to survive alone than perhaps most of the other operatives. She could make it to the rendezvous point without the lag of a team behind much quicker anyways, and perhaps find these so called time fragments on the way.

Pushing her way through some thick bushes, and stepping over small ravines of water, Zolar had to admit she much did prefer the industrialized city of Miraino compared to this type of scenery. All the thick greenery everywhere and constant obstruction in her path made it such a hassle for her to get around as smoothly as she'd like. But, just when Zolar was about to forgo the normal walking, she noticed an opening through some trees and gratefully pressed forward, preferring to be in a much more open environment than the literal jungle she was just in. But as she neared the edges of the thick foliage, she began to feel an unusual spark go through her circuitry, forcing her to lose her balance momentarily, and brace herself against a nearby tree for support. What the hell happened..? Zolar couldn't place the reason for why she was feeling so off. This was different from her sudden shut down sequences. If anything, she felt more alert and aware than before. Every sense was much more heightened as well, it felt like she was on literal overdrive with no sign of being stopped.

"Ugh.." Grasping her forehead, Zolar managed to push herself off the tree and continue moving, though her usual gait had become much less stable. She couldn't allow some sort of weird temporary malfunction to hinder progress in finding Torin. That was her first, and primary concern. Malfunctions be damned. The tall woman managed to make it to the edge of the jungles tree line, where she could thankfully see plenty of open land before her. But before she could even make another step, crimson suddenly covered her entire vision, causing her to stumble. 'Kill...erase...'

A gasp ripped from the androids vocal box, "God damn...this should n-not be happening." Even her speech was glitching, and her normally smooth tone of voice sounding more...robotic, and devoid of any emotion. She couldn't see Torin like this-hell, she couldn't be near anyone while stuck like this. Even her cognition was failing to remain functioning. And if she lost that, the only piece of her that still kept her sane and human, then it would be over. For her and whatever unlucky soul managed to catch her off guard like this. Perhaps if she just quite literally chilled out where she was for a moment, then her system recognize the virus or whatever it was affecting her so badly. Maybe it was because of the lack of consistent energy source around her? If the random sightings of creatures and plants she only recalled seeing in those prehistoric age films she's seen were of any indication then she'd bet every bolt in her body that they had been sent well over 200 million years into the past.

Regardless, Zola had to focus on the actual present, which was her current state of being. The crimson hadn't faded from her vision this time, but Zolar still had her senses and made to lean against the nearest tree. But it seemed whatever gods there were above thought she wasn't going to rest so easy as the sounds of something approaching brought the malfunctioning android back to alertness. As the sounds came closer, Zolar felt her sanity slipping slightly. Her head twitching to the side, as she tried to turn her head to see what it was. It was fine, it was most likely just a small amphibian passing through and-

"Zola!" Fuck.

It was Frey. Out of all things it could be, it had to be the one person the mocha skinned android definitely didn't need to see at the moment. "You've got to be fucking kidding..." Before Zolar could even warn Frey to keep away from her, the unaware human was already approaching her from behind. And his voice...did the guy ever know when to just shut the hell up. A flood of red flooded her vision completely, her killing mode easily overtaking her programming during her momentary slip of concentration because of Frey's unexpected arrival.

'Kill...'

"Please come back and stay with us."

'Erase...'

"It's important that we all stay together, so that no one is missing when we find Torin."

'Terminate.'

"Wouldn't want to have to go on a rescue mission for you, you know?"

Zolar whipped around, so quick it was a blur of black for anyone witnessing the assassins movements. Without any warning, her arm shot out and snatch up Frey by his neck. With frightening ease, the slim android managed to lift the human from the ground, just by a few inches, her sharp nails piercing the sides of his neck as she did so. "Target acquired." Her voice was monotonous and dead, her eyes showing no sign of registering who the person was in her hold, nor sign of any self awareness. She kept him suspended in the air for a moment, before her sharp gaze noticed the large tree beside them, and violently slammed Frey against the rough bark of the tree trunk. She assessed his still free use of his arms and swiftly tore his right arm away, twisting his wrist so it was inoperable; before slamming it against the tree beside his head. The obvious struggle the human was still exhibiting only further pushed the assassin to grip his neck tighter, taking any necessary oxygen the human male needed to live.

Blood crimson orbs met forest green ones. And for just a split second, ice blue flashed over red. But again, there was no sign of the same Zolar inside for her to realize what she was doing to her own squad mate, and her irises once again bled red. Raising her other hand, a sleek blade materialized from her wrist and she angled it so the tip of her blade was hovering directly over the others chest cavity, right where the human heart would be.

"Target elimin-" Just as she were about to fatally plunge the blade straight into Frey's chest, trembling of the earth knocked her precision, causing her to instead miss her target and plunge the wrist blade into the space of tree next to Frey instead, only slicing his side slightly from the misdirection. Her scanner automatically shifted on, and the earth beneath began trembling at even more consistent rate, to the point that Zolar lost her grip on the human and instead braced herself so she wouldn't lose balance. From her scanners, she was able to detect the rapidly approaching presence of more humans, and another organism she was not able to identify. But what was the more alarming factor, was among this small grouping, was the detection of several other life forms, big and small, heading in their exact direction.

And not a second later that a slim formed human woman came rushing past where the assassin and Frey were stationed, however, she kept going and even the malfunctioning Zolar was taken off guard by it. Followed after the human woman was another human, and then a four legged alien that was carrying yet another human atop it's back. Falling away from Frey completely, Zolar gripped the sides of her head as literal sparks began flying across her vision, and the red flashing in out of her vision. But it remained hard to keep her balance as the earthquake of the stampede got worse as it neared them.

But despite all these interferences happening, her system was struggling to return back to it's senses. Until the presence of a certain dark male rushed out from behind his team last, and as if someone had pressed her reset button, Zolar's entire system seemed to halt, before completely rebooting back into it's old state. Crimson slowly faded back to ice blue, "T-Torin.." The assassin stumbled forward, out into the open plains to meet the fast approaching man. But did not notice the literal terror in the squad leaders eyes, nor registering the multitude of beasts behind him, before she completely lost consciousness, and fell onto the plains of grass

Lara, Rhea, Torin, and Ariel

As the group trudged through the forest, the towering foliage slowly gave way to short shrubs and grass. Ava heaved a sigh of relief when the rendezvous point came into view. It seemed like they were the first group to arrive, probably because finding their piece had been trivially easy. The woman took the opportunity to sit down on the grass, and light brown eyes flickered over to the herd of herbivores. Being able to see more than a few meters in front of her face really eased her nerves.

Then the ground underneath her started rumble as the herd of dinosaurs stampeded in their direction. Even as she cursed their luck, Ava took off running in the opposite direction. Hearing a furious bellow coming from behind her, she took a moment to glance over her shoulder. Damn! Now they were being chased by a pair of over-sized lizards too?

“Don’t shoot at them! Just run!” Ava called out, ignoring that Rhea had already done so. It wasn’t that she doubted Rhea or Torin’s marksmanship; no, it was because even if they shot down a few, they’d still get chased down by the others. Run down, crushed into mincemeat, and eaten by the carnivorous dinosaurs that had startled the herd. Ava grimaced at the vivid mental image. Judging by how the tremors seem to be getting larger, the dinosaurs were gaining on them and fast. Ava was starting to feel the telltale signs of an adrenaline rush as she pushed herself to keep running as fast as she could.

Even so, she managed to retain some level of rational thinking. Her mind whirled around as it searched to get out of the dilemma. Obviously, they couldn’t keep running forever, so she needed a plan. They were surrounded by open space – by the way, Ava was now wishing that they at least had cover. Right, cover! “Head for the tree line!” At this point, she could care less about whether she was respecting Torin or not. The operate would deal with that afterwards, provided that she was still alive.

“Oh fuck.”

Ava took the initiative to take another look at the scene behind her only to realize that Lara had tripped. And in a horrible heat of the moment decision, she turned around to rush to the woman’s side, passing rocket-legs and the centaur. When Ava told herself that she wasn’t going to leave anyone behind, she meant it. So she grabbed the albino’s arm and dragged her to her feet. “C’mon,” she grunted. Taking off diagonally to the direction the herd was running in, Ava attempted to get them out of the dinosaurs' path.

dahlia corbin.
Admittedly, Dahlia wasn't at her best when she was split up in this manner. It was a unique experience, seeing these different points of view from one pair of eyes, just not one her mind was ready to accommodate. She was at her best either in her human form or moving as a unit in her murder, but at least when the occasion called for some widespread surveillance, Luness was there for support. Even if she did take advantage of the opportunity to make some churlish remark. She much appreciated relationships such as these, deeply rooted in symbiosis, just like actions between animals in the wild. They made her feel as if she was keeping in touch with her feral side. And it certainly didn't hurt to have that with someone else who was only as human as they appeared. "Oh, rest assured, my lycan friend... Your piousness will not be forgotten after my ascension to the prehistoric throne. It will be then that you are awarded the position of my right hand, as well as as the formal title of Princeps of Miraino. But for now, be patient." Even with her eyes darting from side to side, Dahlia's human form gave Luness a cheeky smile, following her own little remark.

Her mood had greatly been elevated after her exchange with her impromptu bodyguard, but flatlined again once Frey and Zolar started up again. Was she running off now? And of course, Frey was following after her. Too nice for his own good, especially now. Dahlia had figured that it could simply go unsaid that as the majority (she and Luness), they were now the ones taking point. But Frey's attempts at leadership seemed to have left her wanting, and now she was searching for a tighter leash to wear. There would be no hope if all the other teams were being similarly divided by bickering. "Uh, yes, try to catch up once you're done with all that..." Dahlia called over her shoulder at the distancing Frey, visibly focusing her attention on something that wasn't even in her line of sight. "I've spotted something between the gaps in the canopy. It's modern tech, it's the fragment! Come on, let's get this done before those two can hold us up any longer." She raised her hand to the sky acceptingly, reuniting with her birds once again, and dashing towards a safe vantage point from where she'd spotted the hunk of discarded tech. There it was, nestled cozily between a sleeping triceratops mother and her unborn children.

"It's important that we disrupt the timeline as little as possible. That means no killing the mother," she whispered from within the tall grass, only to have her efforts be potentially undermined by the screams of their comrades. Dahlia audibly singled out Del's voice, and what must've been Atlas' titanic footsteps. The noise was a direct threat to the mission at hand. Dahlia judged that they had mere moments before the mother awoke, and perhaps only a little more time before whatever was attacking them decided to look for less defended prey. Safety resided in numbers, Dahlia decided. First the fragment, then their aid. "I'll keep watch. Steal the fragment back so we can go help the others. If she wakes up, I'll swarm her and give us time to run."

Hearing Dahlia's response, Luness instinctively rolled her eyes and kept quiet, as they were now moving away from the other two bickering in their party. She watched Frey run after Zolar and merely shrugged with indifference. She at least knew Zolar could handle herself out here and thus, the android would probably end up looking after Frey if a dinosaur tried to eat either of them. He would be fine.
Seeing Dahlia smirk at her, Luness raised an eyebrow and then realized it would be unseen and thus, a waste of her time. She sighed and made sure Dahlia did not trip and eat dirt while they moved forward.

Following Dahlia's instructions and movements, Luness crouched down behind a tree and peered out to see the situation the two were now in.
Staring blankly at Dahlia at the mention of the timeline and the triceratops, Luness merely responded in her gruff tone, "I'm not going to kill everything in sight here. I'm not some messed-up killer."
She had to wonder if she gave off the impression of being just that - a mindless killer. She supposed her many scars and rough way of handling things probably did nothing to dissuade anyone from thinking that.

Luness' right ear flicked this way and that, as she too caught the sound of the others nearby. Knowing they were the only vocal humans in this timeline, Luness narrowed her eyes at her prey. There was no time to lose then.
Nodding at Dahlia, Luness dropped to all fours and began creeping forward, staying low to the ground. She watched her steps, mindfully avoiding anything she might break and create noise with.

Reaching the nest, Luness stared down the mother, making sure she was still dozing peacefully before Luness crept into the nest and snatched up the fragment. She tucked it away and then slowly and carefully exited the nest. She kept her breathing quiet and steady, as she returned to Dahlia's side. She gave her another nod and then whispered, "Perhaps we should assist the others nearby? I've no idea where Frey and Zolar ended up."

Hearing the sound of raptors calling out to one another, Luness muttered, "Shit, no time to decide then."

And with that, she dropped back to all fours and sprinted away from Dahlia and the Triceratops nest. Using her one good ear and tilting her head occasionally, Luness zeroed in on Group Two and leaned forward to build up speed. Her panting and a few snapping twigs were all that hinted at her approach before Luness sprang out from behind a tree and tackled a Velociraptor to the ground. It just so happened to be one of the two cornering the white-haired alien.

Wrestling with the dinosaur while it snarled and bit at her in turn, Luness rolled and tried to swipe at its jugular, struggling with the raptor refusing to give up so easily. Blood soaked Luness' muzzle, not all of it her own, while fresh cuts soon began to appear across her own torso.

One could taste the excess testosterone festering in the warm jungle air, some might say it was palpable. All the Perio born male wished for was a friendly conversation, and yet it had unraveled into another trifling banter battle. Though Dalziel had to admit, he found Drexel’s comment quite comical, and Lex’s counter equally hilarious. As the tallest amongst them began to retreat from the group, Dalziel whipped his head over his board shoulder, dark tresses swaying as he did so. “If you can convince someone to touch you without gagging, I know he can.” A smirk was shot in the direction of the man with the odd colored hair before he proceeded to move the group onward.

As the fates would have it, the part to the time machine device they were in search of was in plain sight, nestled in a bush to be precise, and Dalziel was eager to gain possession of the remnant of metal. Knowing Torin, he was probably timing everyone, and Gold Squad wouldn’t hear the end of it if they failed to reach the rendezvous point in an acceptable timeframe.

The fates were being rewritten, and not in favor of the group of young men (who desperately needed to get laid). Dalziel strode over to the piece with a lackadaisical approach, those predatory pterodactyls were long forgotten from his line of focus. Which he’d soon regret, for one had nosedived into the shrubbery and trees to snatch the item they required to return home. To return to his parents. To return to comfort. There was a brief lapse in composure as a small wave of hopelessness washed him up on shore.

Drexel, the least useful member of Group One, was the one to bring the ball back in their court. “Look at you coming through in the end.” The condescending crooked grin couldn’t be masked. “Kayden can you still track the device even though it’s in its stomach?” It was time to hunt an overgrown reptile.

[ Frey | Location: With Zola ➜ Holding Zola | Interactions: Zolar Uniko Uniko Torin Fanaa Fanaa Mentions: Rhea, Ariel, Lara, Ava. ]
He was right. She was becoming unstable. She was incredibly dangerous. Frey had known that, but he still had followed after her, because he couldn’t leave her. He didn’t even have time to react when she whipped around and grabbed his throat. He reached for her hand as she started to lift him, sputtering uselessly, whispering her name to get her to stop. Her eyes, though. He knew she wasn’t there. Any humanity the android had in her had been torn away from her. The blue was completely gone, replaced with a red he’d never forget. He kicked at her, but then he felt the rough bark against his back and a cry of pain escaped him when he heard his bones break.

It was cut short when she tightened his fingers around his throat, and he grasped at her hand desperately, not even aware of the pain coursing through his wrist. He couldn’t breathe. He couldn’t breathe? He needed to adapt to this, and his body wasn’t working how it should be. He gasped for air, but it was blocked, and he coughed instead, feeling his lungs burning in his ribs. Why wasn’t he adapting? His lungs were on fire, and his head was swimming, but his body wasn’t doing what it was meant to do.

“Zola…” he choked out, voice barely audible. It was pointless to try to even get through to her. She was intent on eliminating her target. He could almost feel the tip of her blade against his chest, and he thought that he deserved it. He’d stabbed Torin, and this was his retribution. He didn’t want to die, though. Not like this. Not to a teammate. He tried to grab her wrist, to somehow stop her from stabbing him, even though he knew how useless it was. He could change his shape to get away from her. He should. He would, the very moment the blade pierced his flesh. He didn’t care that she’d know his secret. His life was more important than that.

The moment never came, and instead Zola missed. Missed? He felt pain on the side of his ribcage, then he landed poorly on his wrist when she dropped him and let out another yelp, lifting his right hand to his chest. Why did she miss? Why did she let him go? Why didn’t she eliminate her target? He stared at her, stunned, then realized the ground was shaking and felt a new wave of panic hit him. Was it an earthquake? Or was it something else? He saw Rhea run past them, carrying Ariel on her back. Okay, that was good. They were alive.

But they wouldn’t be for long. He heard a dinosaur screech and clambered up immediately, the pain from his neck and wrist all but forgotten. He saw Zola’s eyes spark and watched, horrified, as she started to stumble around. No. No. No. She couldn’t pass out right here, right now. Not with a stampede coming. What was he supposed to do if she fainted? With his broken wrist? He couldn’t fucking carry her.

He followed after her, trying to grab her before she collapsed. He wasn’t quick enough, but it didn’t matter. He’d just drag her to somewhere safe, so that she wouldn’t turn into a mechanical pancake. He scanned the plains and saw just how fast the stampede was approaching, but he also noticed a familiar man running away from them. Frey didn’t want to bother Torin to help him with this stupid android that almost killed him. Not when he was running for his life. He’d be a better teammate than that.

Taking a quick breath, Frey grabbed Zola’s shoulders and yanked on her. His wrist didn’t agree with the movement, and his vision got blurry as tears welled in his eyes. God dammit. This was not going how he wanted it to. How was he supposed to carry her? He looked again and saw Torin still running, and light reflected off of Lara’s hair in the distance. Ava was with her. God, he could make this so easy on himself. Just change his form and carry Zola that way. No one would probably even notice.

He could. He could. He would. It was stupid, but he was an actor; he was good with improvising. He needed to risk it to get his ridiculous murderous teammate to safety. What would he turn into? Something that wouldn't have to deal with broken bones and injuries to its skin. A thought crossed his mind, and he let out a breath. An android. One who wasn't around anymore. "I hope this works," he mumbled, then changed his form into that of an old friend. He took a moment to get used to the newfound height and size, and he flexed his dark fingers on his right hand and felt no pain. Androids didn’t have bones, so they never had to deal with breaking them. Thank god. When he changed form back into his normal Frey self, then the pain would be back, but he’d worry about that later.

He, in his new form, pulled Zola up and wrapped his arms carefully around her legs and arms, holding her close to his massive chest so as to not drop her. Hopefully only Torin would know who he was imitating. It’d be a lot for his team leader to process, but Frey didn’t really care at this particular moment. He turned and headed toward the treeline, but his new form was heavy, slow, and difficult to maneuver, even though Zola weighed next to nothing in his arms. Oh, this was not going to work. He couldn’t move fast enough to get away from the stampede. He could be a human - er, robotic - shield for the gold member who had tried to kill him, but then he saw Torin again. “Captain! Torin!!” he called, as loudly as he could. Torin didn’t look like he had any broken bones, so he’d be able to move quickly and carry Zola at the same time. He hated that he needed to call Torin to him, but he was his team leader, and Zola was his friend, he was pretty sure.

Plus, they were by a tree. The one Zola had almost choked him out against and stabbed, but that was beside the point. Trees were good to hide in while dinosaurs stampeded. They could climb it together and then wait for everything to calm down. It’d keep them all safe.

Operating as a unit ensured success, while Torin’s standoffish presence was both intimidating and unwelcoming, he commanded the room with such ease, Ariel wondered if the possession of an impersonal demeanor was a prerequisite for firm leadership. Red-toned orbs shifted to the palest human in the group of five, Lara, the only other Platinum Squad member, he pondered, what was her preferred leadership persona. Lara was admittedly, a stranger to him, having recently joined the squad, but from the little observations he had made, her attitude was comparatively different from the stereotypical Platinum Squad operative. And he didn’t mean that in a bad way.

Ava and Rhea had rightfully taken the frontlines, Onyx was trained to be alert, if anyone was going to detect an anomaly and act accordingly, it was those two. The group trekked smoothly through sturdy trees, dense bushes, and tall grass, all thanks to the guidance of Lara and himself. The cooldown granted by the shorter male was appreciated, and Ariel happily welcomed the comforting embrace of the plush grass.

With the approach of the mythical looking extraterrestrial, Ariel fixed himself into a seated position and reached for the damaged contraption. Ariel brought it upon himself to always keep a repair kit on his person, Rhea’s eyepiece was an easy fix, it wouldn’t take longer than five minutes once he had assembled all the exact tools. Ariel began to tinker with the artificial device, and before he had the opportunity to attach the new screen, Rhea took him by the wrist, though he knew it was impossible, time stopped, and before Ariel could present any form of protest he was on the back on the other.

Ariel hadn’t registered the dire need to evacuate until one of the theropods released a thunderous roar. With Rhea readying to strike the carnivorous dinosaur, Ariel held out the semi-fixed mechanical eye, he figured she’d want it back now, he wasn’t sure if he’d be able to keep it safe, especially if he was unconscious due to an obstructed airway. The human let out a wheeze as one the only means of airflow became constricted. Rigged muscles reached for his inhaler, another sound escaped him; the sound was akin to that of an elementary student struggling to play the flute for the first time.

Puff. Inhale. Puff. Inhale.

The rescue inhaler had performed its task. Ariel reached for one of his many inventions, he held it within view of Rhea. “If you attach this to one of your bows, I can activate it once it’s at eye level with one of those big guys and blind them.” Ariel’s dart and rope would be of no use in this situation, but he could only pray to a higher power that his flash grenade would be of assistance.

Del, Feeling: "Man, I hope TJ can handle himself."
cw: violence, violence against animals/dinosaurs
Maybe it was bad luck or something like karma catching up to him, but Del really couldn't catch a break. Moments after he spoke up, before the others probably realized he even was talking, more dinosaurs sprang upon them. Two were angling for Tartimok, whose clear pale hair seperated him from the raptors, while Aylin was already on the ground underneath a third beast. All the while Atlas was battling his own demons more literally than usual.

He wanted to swing himself around and solve everyone's problems at once but his feet were heavy and his legs felt frozen in place. All he could do was watch as each creature seemed to take a moment to posture. His ears were stung by screeching from the raptors. Was that a scream? He thought. No, they're talking-- Or kind of talking. Dinosaur talking. As ridiculous as his thoughts sounded, he wasn't too far off. These creatures were obviously pack-hunters, so some form of communication or coordination was necessary. Whether they were talking to each other, or to his colleagues was another question entirely. Think, Del. Think. What would a dog do? When a dog barks, you look at its tail, but that wouldn't help here. Their tails were probably used to keep them upright. Look. Look. Look. Suddenly, his head was clear. Utahraptors, rather raptors in general, had large retractable claws on their second toes. If their claws were extended, that was as good a signal as any that they were ready to sink their teeth into something.

Filled with the clarity of his new understanding, Del shifted his feet around to take stock of the situation. First his eyes settled on the feathery mass above the comparatively small Aylin. Clear as day the sheen of its claw threw the piercing sunlight right into Del's eyes. Blinking, he readied himself and shot two more times. If he had waited any longer, it probably would have killed Aylin, or worse. But his aim hadn't been so spot on this time. While both bullets connected, one lodged itself in the raptor's left shoulder while the other appeared to have ricocheted off one of its ribs. Nonetheless it had done the trick and the beast was startled enough to stumble off of Aylin. Bringing his hands back down to eye-level, Del took a moment to get a better grip on the situation. "Aylin, come on!" He shouted. Questions raced through his head. Was she hurt? Would Tartimok be OK? Would Atlas need a need to get a new paint-job on his arms?
