The twilight sky looked blood red in the light of the surrounding flames. A giant black serpent slithered deftly through the flames, its beady red eyes locking onto her. A large black shadow stood in front of the flames, and she could barely make out a pair of wings, horns, a tail, and cloven hooves for feet.

She clung tightly to the book in her hands: a black tome with an eye on each cover, such that the open book looked like it was constantly watching whoever saw the cover. This book was her only defense against these terrors of the night. Now if she could just find the right spell…

The winged figure suddenly turned to face her.

Olivia “Liv” Chandler jerked awake, her head snapping up from its perch by the passenger's side window. It took a minute for her to gain her bearings and remember where she was, but the soft humming of a car engine and the idle chatter of her friends swiftly jogged her memory.

The Belle Riviere. The impromptu baby shower for Alicia's cousin. The contest.

That contest... Liv smirked to herself, laughing internally at the memory of it. She had never given much thought to those big sweepstakes, but apparently Alicia's new boyfriend Joe had decided to enter himself and all his contacts into this particular sweepstakes, all in hopes that at least one of them would win. His plan worked, with Liv as the lucky winner of an all-expenses-paid Spring Break vacation for her to the Belle Riviere resort not too far from New Orleans.

Even now it all seemed too good to be true, but thankfully Liv was allowed to bring up to [X] guests with her, so at least she wouldn't be all alone here. Not only that, but upon finding out that Alicia's cousin was pregnant, Liv jumped at the chance to use the prize to set up a surprise baby shower at the Belle Riviere. The venue was perfect: a sprawling paradise located just far enough from the city to keep its natural surroundings intact without being too cut off from New Orleans proper. The views were absolutely breathtaking everywhere you went, and the Belle Riviere itself was not only rich in culture and history, but also well-equipped with no shortage of modern amenities and luxuries.

And so here they all were, taking a Belle Riviere shuttle directly to the heart of the resort: an antebellum plantation mansion remodeled into a hotel and fine dining restaurant. All Liv had to do was check in herself and all her guests at the front desk, and then the entire Belle Riviere complex would be their playground for the next couple of weeks.

Kathy Beaumont
Former US Marine Sniper and Expectant Mother Katherine 'Kathy' Beaumont was excited to go on one last vacation with her Cousin, Alicia and their friends. Just one last hurrah before her twins arrive. Really, they should have arrived two weeks ago, but at this point, Kathy thought that she'd go at least two more weeks because it currently felt like the babies were being stubborn and seemingly adamant about staying nestled in her belly. The destination? The Belle Riviere, a Resort out in rural Louisiana. All expenses paid for. Although it was tough, Kathy did manage to convince her husband, Alaric, to let her spend at least a week with Alicia, but looks like he'd be at least coming to see her off before heading back home since he wasn't able to take the time off to spend the week with them.

Kathy just looked out the window during the ride to the resort, smiling while rubbing her belly to soothe the unborn twins nestled within. For the outfit, Kathy wore a Sleeveless Black Floral Midi Maternity Dress with a White Maternity Flannel Button-up Shirt underneath, buttoned and the collar popped and a Distressed Black Denim Jacket. The sleeves of both the flannal and the jacket rolled up. In addition, she was also wearing Black Leggings and, for comfort, some Blue Running Shoes. The best of two worlds for her outfit today: Regal and Comfortable. She started quietly singing a French lullaby for her unborn babies while continuing to look out the window.

How much longer? She wondered.

The sun was slowly rising over the trees that surrounded the mansion that was located about ten miles outside of New Orleans. It was a mansion that had been converted to a resort by the Krystilan corporation. It had been open for about a year and was one of the most sought-after vacation spots in the state. That was why they decided to run an event for college students to win an all-expense paid trip to the resort as a form of advertisement.

A man sitting at a desk was reading the article that had been run in the newspaper, as a smile crossed his face. Placing the paper down he looked out the mansion window. Today was the day. The winners that were chosen to come to the resort were on their way, and ‘She” was among them. The woman that he had been looking for, for a long time. She had been found, and she was coming to him. Soon everything would be set, and his plan would come to fruition.

The doors to his chamber opened as a young man entered. Kneeling before his master he bowed his head. “Everything is ready. Though are you sure about this?” The young man asked as if trying to convince his master of not going through with this plan.

“We are going through with this. She will not slip through my fingers this time. The rest are nothing but a waste. So, killing them will not cause any issues, and you can get your fill.” He said as he stood up walking over to the young man. “You swore your loyalty to me, Nix. Don’t you ever forget that.” The man said as the young man flinched.

“Yes, master Solomon.”

As soon as the meeting was done Nix left the room, closing the door behind him. The look on his face was worried. He didn’t think this was a good idea, but he knew his place. Though he did wonder why his master had become so reckless. The past couple of months he seemed to have changed. Maybe it had something to do with the young lady he had been looking for?

Shaking his head he closed his eyes and moved to the foyer. The buses would arrive soon, and he was tasked with greeting them as they entered.
