Before the Evil Ones break the Seal of Terror!
The twilight sky looked blood red in the light of the surrounding flames. A giant black serpent slithered deftly through the flames, its beady red eyes locking onto her. A large black shadow stood in front of the flames, and she could barely make out a pair of wings, horns, a tail, and cloven hooves for feet.
She clung tightly to the book in her hands: a black tome with an eye on each cover, such that the open book looked like it was constantly watching whoever saw the cover. This book was her only defense against these terrors of the night. Now if she could just find the right spell…
The winged figure suddenly turned to face her.
Olivia “Liv” Chandler jerked awake, her head snapping up from its perch by the passenger's side window. It took a minute for her to gain her bearings and remember where she was, but the soft humming of a car engine and the idle chatter of her friends swiftly jogged her memory.
The Belle Riviere. The impromptu baby shower for Alicia's cousin. The contest.
That contest... Liv smirked to herself, laughing internally at the memory of it. She had never given much thought to those big sweepstakes, but apparently Alicia's new boyfriend Joe had decided to enter himself and all his contacts into this particular sweepstakes, all in hopes that at least one of them would win. His plan worked, with Liv as the lucky winner of an all-expenses-paid Spring Break vacation for her to the Belle Riviere resort not too far from New Orleans.
Even now it all seemed too good to be true, but thankfully Liv was allowed to bring up to [X] guests with her, so at least she wouldn't be all alone here. Not only that, but upon finding out that Alicia's cousin was pregnant, Liv jumped at the chance to use the prize to set up a surprise baby shower at the Belle Riviere. The venue was perfect: a sprawling paradise located just far enough from the city to keep its natural surroundings intact without being too cut off from New Orleans proper. The views were absolutely breathtaking everywhere you went, and the Belle Riviere itself was not only rich in culture and history, but also well-equipped with no shortage of modern amenities and luxuries.
And so here they all were, taking a Belle Riviere shuttle directly to the heart of the resort: an antebellum plantation mansion remodeled into a hotel and fine dining restaurant. All Liv had to do was check in herself and all her guests at the front desk, and then the entire Belle Riviere complex would be their playground for the next couple of weeks.
