— the lore
Screams could be heard from upstairs, students running down and yelling for someone to call 911. The music stopped, drinks were spilled, rags were pulled from the closet and everyone clambered around the entrance of the bathroom. On the once white tile floor lay the body of Phoebe Thompson, blood pooling around her head as one boy tried to keep her alive, desperately holding a towel to the wound, hoping to stop the bleeding. Her eyes were barely open and she couldn’t hear a word of what people said to her. It didn’t matter in the end though because she was dead when the ambulance finally arrived. The party ended with every student calling their parents and heading down to the police station, some covered in blood, others crying hysterically but the one thing they all had in common was that they had no idea what happened to Phoebe Thompson.

Kingston Public High School wasn’t known for much, it was a school where people of all backgrounds and financial status mingled and nothing exciting happened. Sure, there was a lot of drug usage going on and maybe some higher-ups pulled some strings to keep themselves on top but what place didn’t do that? Everything was normal until the death of Phoebe Thompson. It happened the weekend that Christmas break started as the students decided they wanted to celebrate with their friends first. It was a normal party, obviously holiday-themed, and a lot of people attended. It was around 11:45 PM when the first phone call to 911 came in, the voice on the other end obviously terrified and drunk as they rambled about someone being on the ground and losing a lot of blood.

When paramedics arrived at the party’s location they were met with a young girl laying in a pool of her own blood, various students hovering around her, desperately trying to apply pressure to the wounds. Even though she was pronounced dead upon arrival everyone was brought in for questioning. They all had different stories but nobody, and I mean nobody, admitted to being around Phoebe in the last hour of her life. It was just a blur. Everyone that was present at the party was hiding something but nobody could pry it out of them, leading investigators to a big wall that they couldn’t climb over. They suspected foul play and they were determined to find a suspect but over the next few days, the case completely dried up.

There was a press conference that announced her cause of death had been an accidental overdose of her prescription medication plus the alcohol that was provided at the party. No charges were pressed and everything was neatly wrapped up in a bow as if nothing had happened. Naturally, people went to her funeral, mourned her death, but everyone at the party knew that it was a lie. There was no way that the wounds she had on the back of her head were from her falling over in the bathroom. There was just no way. But nobody said a word. The doubts and conspiracies were hidden inside each witness and people continued on with life. That is until the one-year anniversary began to draw near.

Eight students received anonymous messages from a blog called EUPHORIC, each message contained a video clip that showed them with Phoebe Thompson a few weeks prior to the holiday bash which ultimately set them up for having a motive to kill her. The blog owner confessed that they didn’t know who did it but they had narrowed it down to eight specific students and they were going to rip it out of them one way or another. They wanted to know what happened to Phoebe so they were suiting up to go liar hunting. And what better way to catch a liar than have them do it for you? That’s right, the owner of this blog promised immunity to the person that would turn in Phoebe’s killer, keeping them from ever getting dragged into her case if it was reopened. Now, this is a great deal if you have something to hide...

[THE QUEEN] OPEN | The host of the party and naturally the token queen bee of the school. It was an honor to receive an invite to this holiday bash. She may be basic but she doesn't let that stop her from harassing those around her that she doesn't like. She's currently dating [Mr. Perfect] and frankly, they make the picture-perfect couple. Unfortunately, between new girls dying to get their claws on her man and her throne, she's been overworked and Phoebe stealing the spotlight with her death simply made [The Queen] snap.

[MR. PERFECT] OPEN |Your typical high school king, he’s got a nasty mouth and has no problem running it whenever he feels like it. He took credit for the entire party and didn’t allow his girlfriend any of the limelight, but that was what he normally did so it was fine. While he may have a soft spot for his current lady, it’s no secret that his eyes have been wandering. Apparently, he skipped practice in order to get close with Phoebe.

[THE CHEERLEADER] TAKEN | [Mr. Perfect]'s helper, he clearly is just a cheerleader to inflate the big guy’s ego. He spends most of his time hyping up [Mr. Perfect] and making sure to back him up even if he's clearly in the wrong. A follower and not a leader, he does whatever is asked of him. Many people consider him to be a fanboy rather than a friend but he knows the truth. So you know that he was making sure to stick up for his friend during the party, especially during the fight.

[THE FOLLOWER] OPEN | Instead of helping [Mr. Perfect] this year, she's been befriending [The Queen]. It seemed to be ulterior motives but she casually denied those rumors and simply said she wanted to be friends with the girl. Now nobody knows the truth, but [The Queen] certainly has her doubts about her. But still, this follower is able to be right at the peak of popularity and she's determined to keep it that way. Although nobody would hold it against her if she stole that crown from the queen when she wasn’t looking.

[THE LOST CAUSE] TAKEN | Oh honey, what sweet thing she is. Not personality-wise but she is known for being rather addicting to those around her. The ex of [The Delinquent], she was one of the most popular girls in the previous year, but now she’s just the ultimate girl to get with. Popping pills and chugging wine coolers in the bathroom, it’s not surprising that she slapped on a mistletoe headband and kissed everyone and anyone. Of course, she was by far the most intoxicated person there so questioning was well... interesting.

[THE SOCIAL BUTTERFLY] TAKEN | Everyone's best friend, he's the social butterfly that literally knows everyone, even if you don't know him. He knows all the gossip, who is dating who, and somehow he has access to all the cheat sheets that you could ask for. He is just an incredibly happy guy and isn't afraid to make somebody's day by talking to them a bit. This is all fine and dandy except he was the last person seen with Pheobe when she was alive.

[THE DELINQUENT] TAKEN | Tall, dark, and brooding, he’s the hottest grinch at the school. A total bad boy, he isn’t someone that plays nice and will do whatever it takes to survive. He didn’t even want to go to the party as he despises all things holiday-related, but with the promise of free booze and a chance to see his ex-flame, well how could he say no? Of course, he didn’t expect to get into a huge fight with [Mr. Perfect] after getting called a grinch. Yikes.

[THE NEWBIE] TAKEN | She’s the newest addition to the class, but she was no stranger. She’s been in and out of schools more often than anyone and so she’s made a name for herself as the biggest drifter within any high school. She gets along with everyone yet nobody at the same time so it was a surprise to see her with Phoebe so often. When they arrived at the party together everyone expected that to be the killjoy they were waiting for but this new girl certainly lit up like a Christmas tree and had fun. Quite the snitch though, she’ll do whatever it takes to keep herself out of trouble.

[THE HEARTTHROB] TAKEN | Just like a holiday favorite cookie, this student is well-liked for their sweeter-than-sweet personality and overall warm aura. However, don’t be fooled by the cute cookie exterior because rumor has it that they cut the brakes of their ex because they cheated. Now there's no proof to back these claims but more often than not rumors prove to be true.

[THE SNOWFLAKE] TAKEN | Oh so delicate and known for their unique looks, it’s easy to get along with this darling of a person. But even though they are quite pretty, who really gets along with them? More secretive than [The Newbie] it’s a rule of thumb not to get too close to this icy individual, after all, look at what happened to their "best friend".

[THE WHISTLEBLOWER] OPEN | A total hardass that has to follow the rules and writes everyone up that doesn’t. They are the ruler of snitches and they will happily expose whoever they need to in order to keep people in line and keep the school functioning smoothly. I guess they just hated how much trouble Phoebe landed herself in.

[THE FRUITCAKE] TAKEN | Who likes fruitcakes? Short answer, nobody. But that’s okay! Not everyone has to be liked, but this poor kid never stood a chance. A total outcast, it’s a miracle they were even able to snag an invite to the party. Well, maybe they were invited because of the fun candy they had with them, I mean that’s why Phoebe even spoke to them in the first place.

This roleplay is going to be focusing on the eight suspects of Phoebe Thompson's murder. Now her murder was declared an accidental OD, however, it is pretty clear that it was covered up by someone who just wanted to bury the whole thing. Because there were no repercussions for Phoebe's murder, an anonymous source created a blog called EUPHORIC and decided on their own eight suspects in her death. Each suspect will be carefully dissected every week, allowing the students of Kingston High to decide who seems to have the most motive and ability to kill her. The author does this by posting videos of the suspects interacting with Phoebe, both in good ways and bad, but also talks about their reputation, the things they've done in the past, etc. While the author of EUPHORIC is determined to condemn someone for Phoebe's death, the suspects and their friends are also determined to find out who the killer is and save their own skin from facing jail time for something they didn't do.

PLEASE READ ALL THE FOLLOWING RULES

Love iiiit
Interested in the heartthrob role. Very interested.
omg i love the social butterfly role
The Character Sheet Thread is up and open for you to drop your character sheets or placeholders!
The tentative deadline FEB. 25th! However, if all the characters are completed before then, I will start
accepting them. Remember that this isn't first come first serve so people may apply for the same role
and I will pick whoever has the best character! Also if the suspect roles completely fill up first, there's
always room for witnesses! I will be putting an OOC thread up soon so people can chat and ask questions
there~ Thank you so much for your interest! (And yes the roleplay will be accepting up until the deadline)

um, how did I just see this? v interested but might have to sit this one out cause I'm not sure I can reach the deadline!

I'd love to submit an audition for The Whistleblower!

Question: Why was the cause of death ruled an OD when she was hemorrhaging from the head/neck when she was found? I guess it's possible the wound wasn't what killed her in the end, but then that would bring into question if it was really a homicide as the attack wasn't the cause of death. I gotta know, I'm too curious.
