What is the Sophia Sapientia School?
The end of the Second Wizarding War left a desire for change. Clearly, things would not be able to go back to exactly how they were before. One area of the wizarding world in which we occupy that needed to be changed was education. What sense does it make for official teaching to end at the age of eighteen, after the completion of Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Levels or their international equivalents? Why not create an institution that will support deeper learning of magic, and reward students with a degree in their specialisms?
The Sophia Sapientia School is the United Kingdom's first higher education institute for witches and wizards, and will be opening its doors in September 2000 for its first year of students. A fantastic faculty of Professors will welcome you and guide you through your chosen specialist areas. In addition, you will be living on a hidden, magically created island a short boat ride away from Lizard's Point, the southern most tip of mainland England. The island contains numerous colleges, living quarters and social areas that have been created to fit the need of the students of the new millennia.
Who is Ms Sapientia?
Born in 1900, Sophia Sapientia grew up in an unremarkable muggle household in Rome. What was remarkable, however, were her magical abilities. Even as a toddler, that Ms Sapientia was powerful beyond measure. Cast from the Muggle world for her strangeness, Sophia found solace at Hogwarts after a chance encounter with Eupraxia Mole, the Headmistress of the acclaimed school. Ms Sapientia flourished, and became fixated on absorbed as much as she possibly could. She quickly became an oracle of sorts, and acquired an Order of Merlin (Second Class) for her discoveries. Inspired by muggle educational practices, despite her mistreatment in the muggle world, she longed for a more structured way to explore her specialisms. Now, having lived and served through two muggle and two wizarding wars, Ms Sapientia has manifested those longings into something tangible - into a Ministry approved institution. Drawing on her wide network of friends and colleagues over her lengthy career, she was able to put together a team of like-minded academics to guide the next generation of avid learners.
