When Equalive was originally commissioned as a large expanse of flats, houses and suites, the Ward saw fit to sponsor it hugely throughout its development. The Ward, a behemoth company with practically a monopoly on cloning, saw Equalive as an opportunity.
With so many clones being produced by the Ward, they inevitably needed somewhere to live. The Ward's CEO, Emi Morishima, maintains the belief that clones are no different to humans, and that a place where not only clones but humans can live is a good advantage for mixing.
Of course, Equalive is not simply a place where clones reside - humans unrelated to the Ward live here too. It is also likely that employees for various companies or HQs take up residence in Equalive.
