Realistic or Modern Epidemic [need lots of people]

A epidemic has occurred similar to the bird flu. It has been spreading all over the USA killing thousands there is no cure yet but soon if they don't find a cure it will turn into a pandemic possibly killing every one. It started in the quietest state kansas then it spread from there infecting all the states around it then the same thing happened to the other states. It has become caos. Stores have run out of everything people are fighting over supples building shelters buying wepons to protect there family and there stuff. There are still alot of people but the virus is slowly ticking the people off until there are no more. The virus with no name has killed halve of America killed more then the black plauge and is on it's way for more how will you survive?
