Lok'Tar
The Zourith Kingdom has been protected by a magical barrier shield for as long as anyone could remember. It served multiple purposes period. The main purpose of the barrier was to lesson or damping evil or spiteful magics. It helps protect the citizens from those who would use any powers for maleficent or evil means. The barrier also helped to keep out anything truly evil in nature. So as long as you stayed inside the Kingdom borders then most monsters and demons wouldn't ever be a problem.

The barrier shield was powered by 5 legendary artifacts. 5 crystals that change shape based on the wielder. The Crystals of Strenght, Loyalty, Courage, Spirit, and Wisdom. It's said the original spell to use and activate the items required a sacrifice. But that was only legend since no one in over 500 years has even seen them. Not even the current king knew where the artifacts rested for sure. Worse is the fact that the barrier has recently weakened to the north. Now things are starting to slowly pass through, creatures that would have never made it through the barrier shield before. Cities and towns are starting to fall under attack. Trade routes are no longer safe. But only in the northernmost parts of the kingdom.

But what has happened to the barrier? Who might know anything about what's going on? It's rumored to the west in the Forest of Keeltrie there is an old elven druid who might have some of the answers.

RIGHT NOW
Characters are being introduced
A party is slowly being formed

Two strange messages have popped up. Both talking about the barrier and the crystals that help power it. However they both have very different views on how it all works. Both letters talk about an event from long ago but neither of the agree on what really happened when the barrier was created.

Werewolf Lore

2 types of werewolves:

The cursed: humans who were bitten by a werewolf, or cursed by some form of magic. They are normal humans, except that they change into a werewolf monster on a full moon once a month- and only once. It is possible to cure them and make them human again.

The race: they call themselves the Uratha, tho they are known by other names. they are born werewolves (almost always in human form), though they might not know that they are werewolf until they undergo their first change. After their first change, they have the ability to transform at will between 5 forms- human, hybrid, war form, dire wolf, wolf.

- human form. An Uratha appears to be a normal, if very fit and healthy, human. An unconscious or dead werewolf returns to this form.
- hybrid or near-human form. The Uratha is slightly bigger, hairier and stronger.
- wolf-man or war form. Half-human, half-wolf, war form Uratha are generally 8 to 9 feet tall and much heavier and stronger than any human. In this form a werewolf's blood-lust rises to the surface and is harder to control. Uratha can only channel the power of the war form for a limited time, and generally only take this form to kill. Uratha normally are in full control of their war forms and can shift in/out of them at will even though their berserker style of fighting might appear out of control.
- dire wolf or near-wolf form. An Uratha in this form is a huge wolf 3 to 5 feet high at the shoulder.
- wolf form. The Uratha is indistinguishable from a normal wolf, though different Uratha resemble different breeds or species of wolf.

Uratha are spiritual creatures, able to channel spirit energy, which they call Essence, to make use of supernatural powers called gifts to aid them in their hunts. Most Uratha are part of a clan. Different clans specialize in different abilities and forms, usually born during specific phases of the moon. The full moon clans for example are physically stronger than the other clans and specialize in the war form. Other clans specialize in abilities similar to shamans, druids or rangers, while others live almost exclusively as normal wolves.

All Uratha possess a natural ability to regenerate wounds and a strong resistance to poison and diseases. Their healing ability is passive, meaning they don't have to 'activate' it or be conscious for it to work. Werewolves can die from massive damage from almost any source, but they heal so quickly that it takes a tremendous amount of punishment to slay a werewolf. There are some exceptions to this- they are particularly vulnerable to silver. Silver inflicts searing wounds that cannot be healed quickly, so a mundane silver dagger is more lethal to them than an enchanted great sword. Wolfsbane is just a plant in its natural form, but it can be combined with magic in an alchemical potion or mixture to have a similar effect. It is less potent than silver, but a lot cheaper. There is no reliable documentation on what happens if a werewolf ingests alchemical wolfsbane.

Nate's class still is wizard, but from a special order. The Wizards of Selladaïr.

They would be a group of wizards who, like Nate, roam around and lend their power to the people mostly. Their creed would be to help everyone equally, basically. Hence why their first abilities would be to help with the weather, or have the power to banish a monster from a village. They would teach empathy, a few common tongues, and obviously magic to their aspirants.

They would focus on using magic for such things, but would have very poor knowledge on potions or alchemy. I would say eventually, they also have good healing powers but Nate never learned that, relying on Elre instead. They are formed by assigning one aspirant to one older wizard, and basically following around. Wandering around and following a wise old man until one is deemed wise and powerful enough. If this is accepted, I guess a few of our current characters would know of this order.

They roam around and give their help to the common folk, not for money but for what the people has to offer, be it food and shelter or even less than that. They do not keep any valuables to them that aren't needed for their lifestyle, meaning they will keep some money but not seek to be any rich, only keeping what they need to face life. Due to their tendency to show empathy for any living or spiritual creature, they often are accompanied by a familiar of some sort, a spiritual friend (and sometimes an apprentice). Lastly, this is a small order. Due to their lifestyle, and how they do not seek any riches or fame, they do not have much new aspirants, and so the total number of masters wouldn't exceed 30.

They are known of, and many people can say they met one already, they just aren't so common. Sometimes they are even sought for, not for their power but simply for their wisdom and neutrality. Overall, they are liked by the people, and their reputation is that of wise, fair mages to be trusted.

The way they work as a mage order is quite simple: An apprentice follows their master's command, but once they are granted the title of Selladaïr, they are free to move as they will. The order doesn't have a strict hierarchy, it works on how each of them sees and respects the others, which means the older ones usually hold more authority, just for how the younger ones look up to them. Any Selladaïr can take an apprentice and deem him the title once ready, however they are usually quite picky on who is accepted, and young masters never take apprentices, as they don't have the experience to tell who would be worthy or not. 1614208985153.png

Each Selladaïr will carry one object that has been enchanted by 2 wizards, themselves and their former master: each Master has a rune/sigil of their own that is their signature, as an apprentice is accepted they will carve their own rune as a first task, once they are deemed ready to go, the master will inscribe their own rune on the enchanted item as proof of their approval. The rune itself doesn't do much, it is the same language they use when doing magic, but the magic behind it is such that one can never imbue their essence in two different symbols, making it impossible to counterfeit: A master is needed to grant the title of master.

If one Selladaïr was to break their creed and if such event got to another master's ears, for example by lending their power to a despotic ruler to oppress the people, they would be chased by their own until they would have to give back the one thing that proves what they are: their enchanted token.

Nate's token is the partial face mask he wears to hide his scar, it has his master's symbol on the lower part of it, apposed right above his own. The two runes look like some small superpositions of squares, circles and triangles. His master's has a pipe fox drawn over it, and Nate's has one eye in its center.
