Dominaria, a world of power and beauty beyond the imagination. From sprawling jungles and forests, to eternal snowy regions and lands of fire and never ending storms. Islands that float in the sky can even be found on this world of wonder. Magic permeates all things, from the rocks and the trees, to the beasts and peoples of this world. To use magic, one must simply have the ability to sense energy around them and shape it to their wills. The world is divided into eight Kingdoms, and through the ages, the kingdoms have fought against each other to further their own goals, sometimes upsetting the balance of power for a short time. Peace however is the natural order of this world.
However a horrific war broke out between the different clans of Dragons, the world shook from the power unleashed by the titans. Over the course of but a year the war had ravaged the world and the 8 kingdoms. Some dragons fought for control over the other races, some fought for themselves and some fought for the other races. The group of dragons that fought for the mortal races slowly began to lose ground until it was obvious that they would lose the war entirely. It was at the moment that the 8 kingdoms rallied together. With their combined might, they fought with the 8 remaining dragons. Together they turned the tide of the war, eventually ending it in their favor. Impressed with the other races of the world, the 8 dragons blessed each kingdom with an element of power, water, fire, earth, air, lightning, light, darkness, energy.
The war was over, but so was the time of the Dragons. Understanding that they could no longer interfere with the affairs of the world less such carnage be unleashed again. So the dragons disappeared and the world continued on. For hundreds of years, peace reigned. But times of peace are fleeting, and must always come to an end. That end came when a corrupt king, Rincor, used his agents to spread lies and fear among the kingdoms against the kingdom of Etheria. The smallest kingdom of the 8, but the most fearsome, for it's magic users were not bound by an elemental attribute like the others. Instead it could control energy itself, and therefore could use any and all magics. The other kingdoms rallied and together crushed Etheria completely.
This atrocity however would forever change the world. Destroying Etheria and of it's peoples created a void in the world, an imbalance of power. From that imbalance, they came. A doorway opened into our world and a surge of evil flowed forth. Unnatural creatures of ferocious savagery and insatiable hunger for life and magic. Flowing across the world, these creatures ravaged the remaining kingdoms to the very brink of destruction. By chance or fate, a brilliant mage was able to close the doorway and eventually what remained of the peoples of Dominaria were able to prevail, uniting as they did during the Dragon War, they were able to destroy most of the Blight and those of the unnatural creatures that remained went into hiding.

Present day, the world is relatively at peace, the kingdoms observe a treaty of support and the lands flourish once again. Sometimes there are reports of the Blight in outlying villages or distant locations but the central towns and kingdom capitals never face threat of attack. However the reported sightings of the Blight have been increasing for decades, and rumors are beginning to circulate the possible another doorway is starting to open. None are aware of the danger that lies in front of them, for their peace is about to end once again for a threat greater than ever imagined is plotting. If the world is to survive, the kingdoms will have to join together.
Can we survive the evil about to envelope the world? Our story will begin...NOW.
