"Growf!"
It was sudden and horrifying. It was seemingly random. People suddenly vanished leaving behind mere ashes. (That’s a LOT of ashes.) No-one knows how many people are left, but there aren't many. A best guess would be 1 in a million. (Maybe 8000?) That would mean about 330 people left in the USA. One could hope there are more than that as many of the survivors will probably die from other causes. (Maybe more like 1 in 100,000. Just depends on how alone we want the characters to be.)
Our characters are survivors of the - what should we call it? Point is, we are all that is left of the human race.
We will need to set the starting point of the RP. (Right after the event? A month later? A year? More? How long will have an effect on the psyche of most people.) And we will need to figure out a starting location (where we meet).
We should each develop a CS. Just the basics. Face claim, plus any details that will help make the RP run smoother. Then maybe an update on what the character has been up to ever since the event.
I am looking for a decent writer. I'd say aim for 1 page+ (maybe shorter for conversations), 3rd person past tense, literate.
